12:30 AM = On 6-13 Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

I stayed home and went to sleep at 00.30 a.m.


__:__ AM (?) = On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:
JUG and BETH leave the “Holiday Inn” to go to “Carlos ‘N Charlie’s”

Because the parents had the feeling that something serious must have happened to Nathalee, they began the search themselves. From the two cousins of Nathalee who were with her in Aruba, a description was received of Joran van der Sloot, since it was heard from others of Nathalee’s group that he was seen leaving with her from Carlos & Charlie’s, the previous night. Next the parents travelled to Carlos & Charlie’s, to get a view of the situation in the hopes of getting any useful information.



1:30 AM = On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:
JUG and BETH arrive at “Carlos ‘N Charlie’s”

Because the parents had the feeling that something serious must have happened to Nathalee, they began the search themselves. From the two cousins of Nathalee who were with her in Aruba, a description was received of Joran van der Sloot, since it was heard from others of Nathalee’s group that he was seen leaving with her from Carlos & Charlie’s, the previous night. Next the parents travelled to Carlos & Charlie’s, to get a view of the situation in the hopes of getting any useful information. This must have been around 1:30 am on May 31st.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

Within minutes everyone headed to Carlos 'N Charlie's. Inside, the men fanned out and began asking questions. Beth showed around a photo of Natalee, but no one recognized her. Frustrated, the Americans returned to the "Holiday Inn" to regroup.
By now they had been joined by Charles Croes, a wealthy Aruban who owned a cellular-phone rental company on the island. According to Croes, who was summoned to meet Beth in a darkened gas-station parking lot, Natalee had made a cell-phone call to an American number, and Beth was curious to know to whom. It turned out to have been an accidental call to a friend.
They decided to split up. The Twittys' friends wandered the beach behind the hotel, showing Natalee's photo to anyone they encountered. Beth and Jug headed upstairs; they wanted to see what Joran van der Sloot looked like, and the casino manager offered to find a video of his poker game the day before. When he did, Beth memorized everything about him: the close-cropped hair, the pimply face, the sloe eyes.

JUG and BETH leave “Carlos ‘N Charlie’s” to meet CHARLES CROES

From Carlos & Charlie’s the group went to Valero Boulevard. There mr. Charles Croes presented himself, who introduced himself as a clairvoyant.

*NOTE* In the above letter SOUSA mentions CHARLES CROES as being a “clairvoyant.” She may have mis-understood what CROES did, or, the translation of her letter may actually mean more that he was someone in the middle of the TWITTY’s and ARUBA who someone thought could help.
The TWITTY’s, G. RUFFNER PAGE Jr., ALBERTO GROENEVELD, CLAUDIO ELDRIDGE, Mr. BROUGHTON, MATTHEW WHATLEY, JODY BEARMAN, PAUL LILLY (the trip chaperone), ERIC WILLIAMS (the UNITED STATES D.E.A. agent), meet CHARLES CROES and a kid who knows CROES at a “Valero” gas station near the airport.
On 6-29 CHARLES CROES stated to FOX News:

VAN SUSTEREN: When you got to the gas station, did you talk to Beth?
C. CROES: Yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did Beth have any idea at that point, as far as you knew, who her daughter had been seen with or who she had last been known to be with?
C. CROES: Yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did she tell you?
C. CROES: Specifically, she told me that her daughter went to Carlos and Charlie's, and that, while there, she had met up with a young guy and asked him to take her home, and that she got into a small silver or gray car that had a large exhaust on the back and tinted windows, and had left.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did she have names for any of these people or just that description?
C. CROES: She had a description of the car and she had a description of one tall Dutch guy. And at that time, she said, with darkish hair.
VAN SUSTEREN: During the time that you were talking to Beth at the gas station, did the discussion of that phone call come up again?
C. CROES: Yes, it did.
VAN SUSTEREN: After you and Beth listened to that phone call several times and hung up with the person in the states, what did you do next?
C. CROES: After that, we spoke a while. And then we left that location with the intention of going to the "Holiday Inn" to continue meeting. On the way there, a young man and I were sitting in my car. And on the way there, instinctively, I wanted to go to drive off, pull over to the cabana area, just to look to see if perhaps she was there.


__:__ AM (?) = On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:
JUG and BETH leave the “VALERO” to return to the “Holiday Inn. CHARLES CROES leaves in a separate car to start searching spots he knows teenagers may be at.

They returned to the Holiday Inn. From the night manager cooperation was received to view the casino tapes, because Joran would have gambled there before. Indeed he was recognized on one of the tapes.


__:__ AM (?) = CHARLES CROES then starts driving and while driving, instead of pulling into the “Holiday Inn,” CROES decides to pass the “Holiday Inn” and check a teenager hangout car parking spot near the “La Cabana Resort” at “Eagle beach” just south of the “Holiday Inn.” When CROES pulls into the teenager parking hangout, CROES notices 3 parked cars--one of which has several kids in it. CROES speaks with the kids in the car with several kids in it, describing Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's car. One of the kids says CROES is describing Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT and (what the kid thinks is) Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s car

Does Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT drive the Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's car often enough that persons think it is Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s car ???? ….Recall that the “gardener witness” said that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was sitting behind the steering wheel at 2:30 AM on 5-30.
The kid also knows Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT by his name.
CROES asks the kid if he knows where Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT lives, and the kid said yes.
CROES gives the kid $100 and asks if the kid will go with CROES and show CROES where Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT lives, and the kid says yes.
CROES, ALBERTO, and the kid drive to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ‘s house (TWITTY‘s are at the “Holiday Inn“ reviewing the video security tapes).
BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC on 8-23 that when they were searching for NATALEE and Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT the night of 5-31, and after they learned his name and asked for details about him they were told by someone, “He tends to prey upon your kids, and American tourists.”

VAN SUSTEREN: After you and Beth listened to that phone call several times and hung up with the person in the states, what did you do next?
C. CROES: After that, we spoke a while. And then we left that location with the intention of going to the "Holiday Inn" to continue meeting. On the way there, a young man and I were sitting in my car. And on the way there, instinctively, I wanted to go to drive off, pull over to the cabana area, just to look to see if perhaps she was there.
VAN SUSTEREN: Then where did you go?
C. CROES: Then we continued on track over to the "Holiday Inn." And we were supposed to turn over to go into the "Holiday Inn." And I had made a decision not to and went straight ahead. And going straight ahead, I made another decision to go to the beach area.
VAN SUSTEREN: What happened when you got there?
C. CROES: When I got there, there were three cars there. One was pulling out. It was a black car. There was another car parked there. And there was a car with kids in it. And I made the decision to talk to the kids. I got out of the car and, in talking to the kids, and describing what had happened, and explained to them why it is I was approaching them at this hour of the night and asking these questions.
I then described Joran. At this point, I wasn't sure about his name. And they asked me what kind of car he drove. And I wasn't sure. And I said, "But we do know that he was in a silver or gray metallic car, small car with a large exhaust." One of the guys says, "Oh, that's Joran."
I then spoke to him, and I said, "Would you kindly lead us to his home? Do you know where he lives?" And he said, "Sure." And he got in our car. And we went over to the house.
VAN SUSTEREN: So you drove over to the van der Sloot home. And any idea about what time you arrived there?
C. CROES: Close to 3:00.
VAN SUSTEREN: Prior to that time when you went to the house, had you ever heard of the van der Sloot's or had you ever been to their house before?
C. CROES: Never.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

Croes, meanwhile, drove north up the beach road and, just below the lighthouse, found a group of teenagers drinking cheap wine. They knew Joran, and two volunteered to lead Croes to his home, in the nearby town of Noord. Five minutes later Croes was at the modest ranch-style house, down an unpaved alley and behind a chest-high wall. One of the airport workers, sitting beside him, telephoned the Holiday Inn.


__:__ AM (?) = According to Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT , VALENTIJN VAN DER SLOOT wakes up, supposedly, from sleeping before Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT.

2:00 AM = On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

To your question what I did on May 31st 2005, I can state the following. Around 02.00 I was awakened by the barking of my dogs and Valentijn who had awakened before I woke up. I heard a lot of noise, I got dressed and walked to the gate. There I saw a police car and two police officers. There were also several other cars, among them a van and I think about 10 people or so. Most of these people turned out to be Americans but there were also a few Arubans, among other Charles CROES and two people with a cord around their necks. I think they were from a hotel.

**NOTE** While Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT claims the 2 ARUBAN Police Officers came to his home at 2:00 AM, all other witnesses have stated the 2 ARUBAN Police Officers tried to awaken anyone In the Murder Suspects SLOOT’s home near or at 3:00 AM.

2:00 AM = When ALBERTO GROENEVELD and CHARLES CROES were led by the young man to the Murder Suspects VAN DER SLOOT residence on May 31, 2005, just hours following the TWITTY’S’ arrival on the Island, Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's “Honda” silver car was parked inside the fence, within the Murder Suspects VAN DER SLOOT home compound at 2:00 AM.
ALBERTO GROENEVELD climbed the compound fence and recorded the license plate number.

On November 1, 2006 “Blogs For Natalee” reported about the October 28, 2006 meeting:

Was Deepak's car seen inside the VDS compound? Yes, Alberto Groeneveld and Claudio Eldridge told me they had to climb the wall in order to write down the license number.


__:__ AM (?) = CROES phones the TWITTY’s, lets them know they have found the KALPOE's car and the SLOOT home, and they all agree to meet at the ARUBAN Police station in nearby NOORD.
However, when they all retuned to the Murder Suspects VAN DER SLOOT residence at 3:00 AM with the TWITTY people and the 2 ARUBAN Police officers, Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's vehicle was gone.
???? Was NATALEE moved between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM ????
On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:

Information was also searched for along the beach. In the meantime mr. Alberto Groeneveld had received information that the silver car where Nathalee was last seen departing from Carlos & Charlie’s, had been spotted at a house in Montanja.

…When the TWITTY’s and 2 ARUBAN Policemen returned to the Murder Suspects SLOOT’s home around 3:00 AM…

The silver car apparantly was not there anymore.

On December 5, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC “We gave them [the Main Murder Suspects] 10 days. We gave them 10 days to clean up their story, clean up the mess, to lawyer up. We gave them 10 days too long, Jane. That‘s exactly what happened.” “Remember, within the first 24 hours, we knew who the suspects were. We knew the persons that Natalee were taken from Carlos and Charlie‘s. We knew the license plate of the gray Honda they placed her in. We knew the condition that Natalee was in. We knew the behavior or the conduct in which they engaged in with Natalee. And then not only that, Jane, within 72 hours [by 6-3; my insertion], we knew that their first story was totally fabricated, that within the first 72 hours, I faced a room of 12 — at least 12 detectives, Aruban and Dutch detectives, and a lead detective, Dennis Jacobs, and they knew after we reviewed video footage from the "Holiday Inn" casino lobby that my daughter had never been brought back to the "Holiday Inn." They knew that those suspects were fabricating a story from day one.”
On 10-3 CNNHN reported:

JUG TWITTY: And so one of the guys that helped us, with Universal Air, came running in and saying, "We've found him. We found the house. We found the car and everything," and Beth and I were just coming down. So we go and get two uniformed officers. We stopped at the Police station.


2:00 AM = According to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s June 14, 2005 statements he gave to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators, on May 31, 2005 at 2:00 AM he quit gambling the “Radison“ casino and then cashed-out his chips. Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT stated that Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE then said he wanted to go to the “Wyndham” casino to gamble.

2:00+ AM = The TWITTY’s, G. RUFFNER PAGE Jr., JODY BEARMAN, PAUL LILLY (the trip chaperone), ERIC WILLIAMS (the UNITED STATES D.E.A. agent), Mr. BROUGHTON, and MATTHEW WHATLEY drive to the ARUBAN Police at NOORD station, arriving some time after 2:00 AM.
CHARLES CROES, ALBERTO GROENEVELD, and the young man leave the Murder Suspects SLOOT home and also drive to the ARUBAN Police station in NOORD.
On December 5, 2005 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

It was time to bring in the Aruban Police. The main group of Twitty-family members and friends, now numbering a dozen, met Croes at the Police station in Noord. Two uniformed officers agreed to accompany them to the van der Sloot residence.

VAN SUSTEREN: So then what happened next?
C. CROES: What happened next was that, in the interim of doing that, we had notified the family that we had found a house. Then they asked us to meet them at the Police station. So we went back over to the Police station.
VAN SUSTEREN: About how far is the Police station from the van der Sloot house?
C. CROES: Actually very close.
VAN SUSTEREN: So what did do you next? What time did you leave the Police station about?
C. CROES: Some time between 2:40, 2:30, 2:45… at that time.
VAN SUSTEREN: A.M.?
C. CROES: Yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: And where did you go?
C. CROES: Right to the house.
VAN SUSTEREN: Who went?
C. CROES: All of the people that were there, myself included.
VAN SUSTEREN: Meaning Beth and her husband, the Police… were there some other friends from the United States with them?
C. CROES: Yes.



__:__ AM (?) = Several members of the TWITTY group go inside the Noord Police station and report that NATALEE did not make her airplane flight some 12 hours earlier, that she was last seen with a dark-haired teenage boy, and that the group has the teenage boys address and the make of the car NATALEE was last seen inside of.
???? Did the TWITTY’s also tell the ARUBAN Police that the KALPOE car was parked inside the SLOOT fencing ????

On November 1, 2006 “Blogs For Natalee” reported about the October 28, 2006 meeting:

Were the Sloots tipped-off that the family group had landed in Aruba? Beth -- not at first. Art Wood -- the Sloots were probably tipped-off when the family group stopped at the Noord Police Station to wait for Charles Croes, Alberto Groeneveld and Claudio Eldridge to return from the VDS residence.


On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:

After that the group went to the Noord Police station, where two agents rode together with the group to the house in Montanja. This resulted to be the house of Mr. Paul van der Sloot and his family. The silver car apparently was not there anymore.


__:__ AM (?) = Apparently the TWITTY members are then told to go outside and wait because JUG stated they waited some 15 minutes outside of the Police station before 2 ARUBAN Police Officers came out.

JUG TWITTY: So we go and get two uniformed officers. We stopped at the Police station. We go in and sit there and wait about 15 minutes out in the parking lot. Finally the Police officers come out. We go to his house, which is maybe a mile away from the Police station.

__:__ AM (?) = 2 ARUBAN Police Officers come outside and join the TWITTY‘s, CHARLES CROES, et al. Apparently the 2 ARUBAN Police Officers tell everyone that they are going to the Murder Suspects SLOOT‘s home to investigate, so they all get in their vehicles and prepare to leave the Police station.

(Noord station is close to SLOOT’s home)

On 6-29 CHARLES CROES stated to FOX News:

VAN SUSTEREN: What happened when you got to the house?
C. CROES: When we got to the house, the Police asked us to stay back. And they went to the front door, or the entrance. And they beeped the horn. No one responded. And they then did their Police siren kind of thing. And no one responded. They did it several times, and then finally Mr. van der Sloot came out.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did you hear what he said?
C. CROES: I heard bits of the conversation but not the whole conversation, because I was still back.
VAN SUSTEREN: What bits did you hear?
C. CROES: I heard bits that he didn't know where his son was. I heard bits that referred to him having picked up his son at a McDonald's, those kind of things. There was nothing that was tied together, just little bits of conversation that were coming out.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did you then do next?
C. CROES: We went to the Wyndham Hotel.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why did you go to the Wyndham?
C. CROES: There was a feeling that Joran may be there playing poker.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did Paul van der Sloot go with this entourage to the Wyndham Hotel?
C. CROES: Yes, he did.
VAN SUSTEREN: Who did he travel with?
C. CROES: I believe he went with the Police.

TWITTY‘s, et al, stay behind while the Police Officers knock on SLOOT home front door.
No person immediately answers the Police Officers knocks on the door, so the Police Officers then sound their siren a couple times and shine a car spotlight on the Murder Suspects SLOOT‘s home.

On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

I said, "Beth, that's not him, that's a 45- year-old man."


__:__ AM (?) = After 15 minutes of the 2 ARUBAN Police Officers trying to get a response from anyone inside the SLOOT home, Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT eventually comes walking outside to the surrounding property fence.

__:__ AM (?) = On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

A police officer asked me if he could talk to me and he told me that a girl had gone missing and that my son had been seen with this girl.


__:__ AM (?) = On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

After a few minutes, a man in his early 50s came outside. This was Paulus van der Sloot, Joran's father.
Beth watched as the officers spoke to him. She saw van der Sloot take a cellular phone from his front pocket and make a call. He then told Police Joran was out gambling, at the Wyndham resort's casino. van der Sloot climbed into the Police car, and the group headed back into the night.


On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

The group as a whole seemed agitated . One of the Americans told me that it was about a girl my son had met at “Carlos & Charlies”. I told him immediately that it could not have been my son because he had played in a “free tournament” at the Holiday in during the afternoon and that I had picked him up at 23.00 hours at “Mc Donalds”.


On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:

After the police had looked around and attracted attention, indeed mr. Paul van der Sloot came outside. He was told the reason for this midnight visit, whereupon he let it be known that his son, Joran was not at home at the moment.

CHARLES CROES overhears Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT mentioning something about “McDonald’s.”

__:__ AM (?) = The 2 ARUBAN Police Officers ask if Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT is home.

__:__ AM (?) = On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

I then went to Joran's apartment and to my surprise and to my anger he was not in his apartment. I then called him on his mobile phone.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

Beth watched as the officers spoke to him. She saw van der Sloot take a cellular phone from his front pocket and make a call. He then told Police Joran was out gambling, at the Wyndham resort's casino.

Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT makes a (calculated? ? ? ?) choice to lie & mis-lead the 2 ARUBAN Policemen that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT will meet them at the Wyndham, so, Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT then he, KNOWINGLY, *led* the 2 ARUBAN Policemen, the TWITTY group, and the CHARLES CROES people completely away from the Murder Suspects VAN DER SLOOT home & property to the Wyndham, ANYWAY... ....a *wasted* round trip minutes total that would-- KNOWN by a man who lived there 15 years--would consume at least 20-30 minutes for the large group of the 2 ARUBAN Police officers, the TWITTY group, the CHARLES CROES people, & Former Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT to get into their vehicles (the "judge" rode with the ARUBAN Police), and round trip driving time for everyone, plus, however many additional wasted minutes the group spent getting out of their vehicles, searching for Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , most everyone getting back in vehicles... which were also additional minutes, concurrently, afforded to/allowed/given to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT & Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE that they, perhaps, spent not so much wasted as the Murder Suspects have claimed....
On October 14, 2005 JUG TWITTY stated to FOX News that in regards to the 2 ARUBAN Police officers who witnessed the early morning May 31, 2005 encounter between the TWITTY’s and Murder Suspects SLOOT’s that the 2 ARUBAN Police officers/witnesses did not document in their witness reports that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitted having sex because their ARUBAN Police supervisor told JUG TWITTY that the 2 ARUBAN Police officers/witnesses claim they cannot recall what was said that night.
BETH stated July 13, 2005 that she has found out that on May 31, 2005 when Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT claimed the Police that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was at the “Wyndham Hotel” gambling at 3 AM, that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was not actually at the “Wyndham Hotel.” (BETH did not elaborate)

(After the ARUBAN Police and the TWITTY’s showed up at the Murder Suspects SLOOT’s home)
FACT.... Note that for *at least* the second night in a row, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT violated the, supposed, SLOOT family “home rules” and snuck out of the home, again, to gamble, again, even though Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , again, has school the same day, within only hours; and according to his mommy, they are taking final exams that whole week. (His school year ended June 9, 2005)

2:15 AM = On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

At about 02:15 hours, we, that is Andre and me said to Joran that this wasn't fun anymore/we weren't having fun anymore and that he should cash in his chips so that we could leave. Joran was in agreement and went to cash in his chips. After this Joran exited the poker room and went to the bathroom. When he was done the four of us went into the casino and stood there. We had been talking about the tourist that had been looking for trouble. Because all of the blackjack tables in the casino were full, Joran and I decided to go to the Wyndham Casino. Guido had said that he was going home and that he would drop off Andre at his place. Joran and me walked to my car that was parked on the parking lot. We got into the car and we drove to the Wyndham Hotel.
When I was parking my car in the parking lot, Joran's phone went off. Joran had said Paul. So I knew that it was Joran's father. Joran answered to phone and signalled me to turn the volume down of the music. That is what I did. I had also put my car into park. Joran talked a short while with his father. I only heard him say: yes, OK, that's allright. After this Joran closed the phone. Joran turned to me and said that the Police was at his house and that it had been his dad on the phone just now. Joran said that it was about a girl that we went out with last night. Joran looked at me and said: “Shit, that is the same girl we went out with last night”. Then he said at the same time: “what is up with this/wrong with this fucking bitch”. After that Joran said to me: “Hey, look. If the Police asks about it then we will just say we went away with the girl from Carlos & Charlies, that we did a bit of a road-trip, that he kissed and fingered her, that she fell asleep in the car, that we dropped her off at the Holiday Inn, that she had fallen down, that he had helped her up and that she walked off”. I said to Joran that it was OK, it was fine. Joran than said to me, let's go home. We then drove from the Wyndham Hotel to Joran's house.

On June 14, 2005 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

I right away told Deepak that a girl had gone missing. Deepak had said immediately that it must be the girl from last night. I straight away thought of Natalee who I had left behind at the beach. Deepak told me straight away that it would be better if we would say that the three of us dropped off the girl at the Holiday Inn Hotel.


On June 28, 2005 Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN gave the following statements to FOX News:

JOHN: ... He** said a story being made up about dropping the girl of at a Holiday Inn, was all something being made up. He**, and the Dutch guy, and the Dutch guy's father, they sit and made up the story.
VAN SUSTEREN: The father, too?
JOHN: All of them. They made up...
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he specifically say — Deepak specifically say to you the father was part of that?
JOHN: Deepak told me that he and the family sit down and they made up the story.
VAN SUSTEREN: So family and not father?
JOHN: Well, I don't know who the family consists of. But I know the father was involved, according to him. They made up the story, and they say that they didn't drop the girl off, because they said they would give the Police something to (INAUDIBLE) when somebody is missing in Aruba, they would find them a few days later by a crack house or with some beach bum or something.
So they made it up. But then, when push come to shove, and nothing was going on, he** decided to tell his brother, "We're going to tell the truth and say exactly what took place," because he — I guess that much, he**, by that time, he and the Dutch guy were saying different stories, so something wasn't going right.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did they say why they created the lie?
JOHN: Like I told you, they say like — they were hoping that something the girl would pop up or something, a few days after. And as I said, they drop her off at the Holiday Inn talking to a black guy, security guard dressed in black clothes. Said they know, like, everybody in public knows a tourist has been missing. They would find them a few days later, by, like I said, by some crack house or with some beach bum. So they made up something hoping that she would show up a few day and then they say, "OK, it all good. There she comes."
VAN SUSTEREN: But under the now story, which is that they dropped the Dutch teen and Natalee off at the beach, Deepak and Satish hadn't done anything wrong. So why did they need a cover story?
JOHN: Well, I don't know. I think these people, they have a plot together. He**, as you can see (INAUDIBLE) so they, together with the Dutch guy, decide, "Maybe we can plan something," because they were together — they left the nightclub together. They were together.
The wouldn't say what happened with the girl, if he had fought with the girl. But they said they weren't — he** told me they went to the California lighthouse. On their way back, they dropped the Dutch guy with Natalee close to the Marriott Hotel. He** and his brother, Deepak [said], they went home.
VAN SUSTEREN: How certain are you that that your memory is correct that the family or the father was involved in creating this cover-up story?
JOHN: Well, he** told me — he**, all of them, sit and make up the story. He, Dutch guy, and the family. He told me they made up a story that they said they dropped the girl off at the Holiday Inn. She was talking to a black guy, security guard specific, dressed in black pants, black top.
VAN SUSTEREN: So what percentage certain are you that he said family or father that was involved in this?
JOHN: He** said family.
VAN SUSTEREN: So you're certain?
JOHN: I'm certain.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he ever mention any text messages or e-mails?
JOHN: No. He** only said that, while he was home, he** went on his computer to chat with some friend. And the Dutch guy sent him a text message on his cell phone saying that when he got home he would also chat with him online. So he** said automatically this guy was still out at the time he** and his brother was home.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say what that message said?
JOHN: No, he** didn't. He** just said — the message said that, when he got home, he would talk to him online. He** didn't say anything else.
VAN SUSTEREN: How did he seem to be adjusting to being in jail?
JOHN: Well, to me, he** was very, very calm. He** spoke very calm. When they open my door to go out and see my lawyer, and passed the front of his cell, he** was looking very calm. I would call him every five minutes and say, "Deepak, are you OK?" And he** would say, "Yes, I'm OK." So he** was very — looked relaxed to me.
VAN SUSTEREN: Didn't look worried?
JOHN: No, he** was only stressed thing — he** was only stressing that we would be out very soon, me, and he, and my friend who was locked up, and his brother. He** was saying that, "We will be out very soon, and the Dutch guy he knew would remain in custody."
VAN SUSTEREN: He thought the Dutch guy would remain in custody?
JOHN: Yes, he** said, "We would be out soon," but he** told me the Dutch guy will remain in custody because he** know he was the last — they dropped him off with the girl at the Marriott. And I think he's** holding back something, the guy (INAUDIBLE) the father made up the story. He should know what took place.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say why he was willing to make up the story?
JOHN: Well, I guess they wanted (INAUDIBLE) maybe the Dutch guy have some power on them, they all friends, and the family stick and talk and say, "We're going to stick to that, and that's it," you know? Trade in some black guy, scapegoat, lock him up, I guess so.

On March 3, 2006 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to FOX News:

VAN DER SLOOT: No, I thought that. And then that's when — you know, when I hung up, I said, OK, we're coming — we're coming home. And so then I — when I hung up the phone, I was, like — I was, like, you know, (DELETED), and I talked to Deepak and then I just told him what my dad just said on the phone. And he was, like — he was, like, (DELETED), too. And then that's when we — that's when we made up a story to say, you know, that we didn't — that we dropped her off at the Holiday Inn.


In the “Skeeters video tape” transcript available HERE, Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE stated he was also concerned that the 3 Main Murder Suspects would be given a polygraph test, but Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT then told Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE that he will pass the polygraph because he knows how to beat it.

Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE : Because, when we were cooking up the Holiday Inn story--you know, there was a Holiday Inn story before--before the beach. van der Sloot told--I told--I asked van der Sloot himself, "What if they give us a polygraph test," and he said, "I’ll pass it," about the Holiday Inn story. "There’s no way in hell they can beat me" he say. He said, “I’ll bypass it, I know how.”

On your question whether or not I can remember at what time we stopped playing at the "Raddison Hotel". I think that it was about 02.15, but I am not sure but this you will be able to determine with the help of the surveillance tape of the casino.

C. CROES: We went to the Wyndham Hotel.

C. CROES: There was a feeling that Joran may be there playing poker.

C. CROES: Yes, he did.
VAN SUSTEREN: Who did he travel with?
C. CROES: I believe he went with the Police.
VAN SUSTEREN: What happened when you got to the Wyndham? What did you do?
C. CROES: We went up to the casino area, and it was closing down, talking to some people. And they mentioned that they thought they had seen them there. They thought they had seen Natalee there, but there was no level of certainty.
VAN SUSTEREN: After all of you were at the Wyndham, and you learned that Joran was not there, what was the next thing that happened?
C. CROES: We then went back over to the van der Sloot's' house.
VAN SUSTEREN: Prior to arriving at the van der Sloot's house, did you hear Paul van der Sloot say anything at all about Natalee, about the disappearance, or any information? Did he seem to know anything at all about the disappearance?
C. CROES: No.

A few people in the group showed the picture of the missing woman to several members of staff at the casino. At least one of the women said that she had seen the girl a few hours earlier in the company of a tall boy.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

Beth watched as the officers spoke to him. She saw van der Sloot take a cellular phone from his front pocket and make a call. He then told Police Joran was out gambling, at the Wyndham resort's casino. van der Sloot climbed into the Police car, and the group headed back into the night. At the Wyndham, just down from the "Holiday Inn," the group again fanned out in search of Joran. Beth walked behind Paulus, watching him closely. There was no sign of his son. van der Sloot flipped out his phone and made another call. When he hung up, he said, "He's at home now."
The group returned to the van der Sloot home.

2:30 AM to 3:00 AM = On 6-13 Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

Between 2.30 and 3.00 a.m. at home I was called by my brother Deepak on my mobile phone XXXXXXX. He called me from his mobile phone, with the number XXXXXXX. My brother told me Joran just got a phone call from his father because the police stood in front of his house. They said it was about the girl. Joran also told my brother his father (Joran´s) had told him people in front of the house were Americans. My brother told me he and Joran immediately thought it was about the girl from Sunday. My brother told me he would call me back later to tell me how things went. After that I could no longer sleep. After 15 or 30 minutes my brother called me again on my mobile phone.


On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:

When arrived there, Joran was not to be found. It had been witnessed that mr. van der Sloot had a conversation on his cellular phone, that was could not be understood. When Joran was not to be found his father called him again and he seemed to be at home. According to him he went home because there was police at his house. The personnel of the casino informed, after he was shown a picture of Nathalee, Nathalee was seen just before in the casino.


2:40 AM = On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

At approximately 02:40 uur, we had arrived at his house, but no one was there. Joran phoned his father. The father had left with the Police to meet with us at the Wyndham. Joran's father told him to stay at the house and that he was going to come back to the house now. I had turned up the volume of the music in my car to loud. At some point the woman that lives next door to Joran came out and called Joran over to her. The neighbor told Joran to turn the volume down of the music, she had a baby in the house and the music was too loud. Joran came over to me and told me to turn the volume down. Then borrowed Joran's phone and called Satish. I told Satish what Joran had told me. The conversation lasted about 3 to 4 minutes.

On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

He also told me that the neighbors had told him to turn the music down because they had complained. He also told me that he had been to the “Radisson”.

2:45 AM to 3:30 AM = On 6-13 Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

After 15 or 30 minutes my brother called me again on my mobile phone. He told me there was a possibility the girl was missing and that we had to invent a lie. My brother told me he and Joran decided to tell the police they dropped the girl at the HI. My brother asked me if it would be possible for me to tell this same story. I told me brother I would tell the police as well we left the girl behind at the HI. My brother told me he and Joran decided to tell that they went to the HI and that the girl opened the door of the car and fell out of it and that Joran helped her to get up. My brother told me then he would call me back later. I don´t know why it was not possible for my brother to continue our conversation at that moment. After about 10 minutes he called me back again.

My brother also told me I had to say that the man wore black clothes and a walkie talkie. My brother asked me to tell this to the police in case they came to our home. I didn´t go to sleep afterwards and laid in my bed waiting for my brother to call again.

2:57 AM = On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

We waited approximately another 7 minutes. Joran's father came together with the Police, a white van with the family and a green Yaris. I think the mother of the girl was in the back of the Yaris. The officers approached us. They had separated us. I am not sure who she was, but a woman came up to us with a picture and asked us if we had gone out with this girl yesterday. I said yes. I think Joran also said yes. After that the Police asked us what exactly had happened. I then told the Holiday Inn story to the Police officer. That was the made up story. After that I asked the officer what exactly was the matter. The officer answered that the girl had gone missing. After that my conversation with the officers ended and they went to talk to Joran. Joran had told his story. One of the family members said in English to Joran that he was lying/not telling the truth and that they saw Joran and the girl on the videocamera's of the Windham casino earlier that afternoon. Then I asked like if she was missing or that they saw her on the camera. An American man said to me: "Yes, because you two assholes went out with her yesterday and now she is missing", (loosely translated: Yes, because you two butts went out with her yesterday and now she is missing). Then Joran's father got angry and said to the man in English: *You are out of your jurisdiction" (loosely translated by reporting officer: You are outside of you jurisdiction). The Police then calmed the situation down. After that the family wanted us to go with the Police to show them the route we drove. Joran's father refused. I also said no. After that the Police officers said it was nonsense to drive out to the light house at that moment in time. The family then asked if we could go to the Holiday Inn to point out the security guard that worked there to the Police. I have to admit/remark that I had made up the story with the security guard. Joran had acted a bit difficult, but we decided to go to the Holiday Inn. I had locked my car. Me and Joran and his dad got into the back of the Police car.

On October 3, 2005 CNNHN reported:

GRACE: So you go back --J. TWITTY: We go back there. It takes about eight minutes or so. We get there, pull up there --GRACE: When you get there, what happened?J. TWITTY: Deepak and Joran are standing there. GRACE: So they were together the next night as well?J. TWITTY: Oh, yeah. And they talk four different languages down there. So first of all, there is one gentleman who, if somebody would go back and get Charles Cruse (ph), who was with us that night and who spoke to them away from us for about 10 minutes with the uniformed officers, before he came over and translated what Joran said to us -- and Joran speaks all the languages too. But Charles Cruse (ph), in my mind, holds a lot of keys to what happened that night, or what Joran said.GRACE: What was the first thing van der Sloot said to you?J. TWITTY: First he looked at the picture and I said, "Don’t say you don’t know her, because we have eye witnesses who saw you get in this car with her," and he goes, "Yeah, yeah, I know who she is."And he walks over to us and starts talking, and he says things that -- you know, he danced with her at the "Holiday Inn" or whatever -- I mean at the Carlos and Charlie’s. But after we talked a little bit, we asked him where she is, he says, "I don’t know, I dropped her off." Then he says, "Is anybody here with the family?" And I said, "Yes, I’m her stepfather." He said, "Do you mind stepping away for a minute?"So I stepped away, went back to the van, Beth was still in the van this whole time, watching, because we had --GRACE: Who asked you to step away?J. TWITTY: Joran did. So he could tell my friends and he could tell the uniformed officers and all the people there what he did with Natalee that night, as far as taking her and his sexual stuff with her. In the car.GRACE: So you know for a fact that night he admitted to having sex with Natalee?J. TWITTY: Yes, and we’ve got --GRACE: Because we’ve got so many different stories.J. TWITTY: I’ll tell you, Nancy, the thing that really upset me, and I found this out when Beth read some statements down there, is that the two uniformed officers that were there, that were standing as close as we are here, listening to him say this, they gave their statements, and they were very graphic in detail of everything that happened that night, except for one thing. Guess what they left out? The part about him saying what he did sexually to her in that car.And I went ballistic, because I wasn’t there, and I told Beth, I said this thing is a set up. I’m telling you right now. Why would they leave that out of there? GRACE: The most significant portion of what he admitted to.

VAN SUSTEREN: Earlier today, we spoke with Charles Croes, one of the first people to speak with Joran van der Sloot after Natalee Holloway disappeared. Charles told us that the night after Natalee vanished, he, Natalee's family, and Paul van der Sloot went searching for Joran at the casino but they didn't find him. I asked him what happened when they returned to the van der Sloot house in the very early morning hours of May 31st.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
C. CROES: When we got back, all of us got back to the van der Sloot home, Joran was there, as well as the father, of course. And then Joran came out, spoke to the Police.
VAN SUSTEREN: When you first saw Joran and his father, where were there and where were you?
C. CROES: They were standing by the gate area. And I was arriving in the car I was driving, and I saw them. And then I parked the car, and got out, and walked over to the side.
VAN SUSTEREN: Tell me next what you heard, what you saw.
C. CROES: I heard that there was some questioning going back and forth. And I heard the father several times say, "You know, is there anything we can do? You know, we're here to help." I heard Joran say, you know, "I'm willing to help, I'm willing to help, I'm willing to help."
VAN SUSTEREN: Did you hear Joran tell what happened that night, the last he'd seen of Natalee? What did he say?
C. CROES: Yes, I did hear him. And what he said was that they picked him up — or Natalee got into the car with them.
VAN SUSTEREN: At what time?
C. CROES: I'm not sure that he gave me the time. I have heard since then that it was 11:00ish or so.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say whether he knew Natalee from any earlier experience?
C. CROES: Yes, he did.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did he say?
C. CROES: He said that he had been gambling and that he met Natalee. And Natalee told him that she had lost some money and was trying to recuperate it before she went home. And he apparently was a good poker player, or blackjack player, whatever it is, and that he helped her recoup some of her monies, and gave it back to her. And she then considered him her lucky charm.
VAN SUSTEREN: When does the story pick up again? When does he next see her, that you know?
C. CROES: Well, he next told me that he was at Carlos and Charlie's, and that they were dancing. And then that she asked for a ride home.
VAN SUSTEREN: Can you give me the details, every single word exactly how he said it, that you recall?
C. CROES: That I recall, in the details was that he told me that she was coming on to him, and dancing provocatively, and then she said she wanted to have him take her home. He then agreed to that. And they went out, I guess, and they got in the car. She got in the car, and they drove off.
VAN SUSTEREN: Was there any sexual discussion at all?
C. CROES: Yes, there was.
VAN SUSTEREN: What was your observation of his demeanor at the time he was telling you these things?
C. CROES: Very uncomfortable young guy, very, very nervous, very uncomfortable.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he describe whether or not she seemed to have had too much to drink or anything that night?
C. CROES: Yes, he did. He told me that she had been doing drugs and possibly been drinking, too.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he indicate whether he was doing drugs or drinking?
C. CROES: He said that he had been drinking.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say how much he'd been drinking?
C. CROES: No.
VAN SUSTEREN: So what did Joran say happened to Natalee? I mean, at some point, the story continues.
C. CROES: Yes. He then said that they made a decision — that they were driving around. They made a decision to take her to the lighthouse to show her the lighthouse. They went up to the lighthouse, were there for a little while.
And then she was acting so crazy that he just wanted to take her home, back to the hotel. And that he took her to the hotel, pulled into the front, and opened the door, and that she got out. And when she got out, she tripped and fell.
VAN SUSTEREN: Then what?
C. CROES: And then got up, continued to walk into the "Holiday Inn" hotel.
VAN SUSTEREN: And is that where he said he last saw her?
C. CROES: That's exactly what he said.
VAN SUSTEREN: It's about 5 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, May 31st. She missed her flight on Monday, the 30th, midday.
C. CROES: Yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: There's been absolutely no news, no newspaper cycle, to indicate that Natalee Holloway is missing, right, at that point?
C. CROES: OK.
VAN SUSTEREN: So somehow Joran decided to come up with this lie about the "Holiday Inn," assuming that's a lie, and I guess that's pretty much been accepted as a lie?
C. CROES: All right.
VAN SUSTEREN: Is there anything that he told you or he said that would suggest that he had any sort of inkling that she was missing and there was some foul play?
C. CROES: No. What he said to me — he repeated to me over and over again was his desire to help find her, that if there's anything he could do to help find her, he would, just please ask him, that kind of thing. It was a very — at that point, it was a scared young guy who seemed to be wanting to help.


On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

When we arrived there I found Joran together with Deepak leaning against the car. I asked Joran why he did not stay at the Wyndham and he said that he must have misunderstood me. He also told me that the neighbors had told him to turn the music down because they had complained. He also told me that he had been to the “Radisson”.
According to me Charles CROES was the first person who started asking Joran questions. Joran said that he had met a girl at “Carlos & Charlies” and that he, Deepak and Satish had dropped her off at the Holiday Inn. Joran said that Sunday afternoon he had had met a girl at the Holiday Inn and that he had helped her when she was sitting at the poker table. The girl had lost 350$ and he had helped her win back 150$ (a few days later when Joran had seen a picture of Natalee and her friends in one of the free US newspapers, he said that it was the girl on the extreme right of that picture that he had helped win back the money. That girl was not Natalee.) Natalee did belong to a group of American girls that had been pushing him to come over to “Carlos & Charlies”. According to Joran he told them that he couldn't go to “Carlos & Charlies” because he had to go to school the next day. He also told them that he, without my knowing about it, arranged to be picked up by Deepak around 24.00 hours and that he did go to “Carlos & Charlies”. In “Carlos & Charlies” the missing girl Natalee, invited him several times to come dancing with her. He told that he did dance with her and that she had asked him to take a so-called “Body-shot” off her. He also said that she wanted to go with him in the car and that they drove in circles around “Carlos & Charlies” for a few times and waived to some friends of Natalee. Natalee was absolutely sure she wanted to stay in the car. I saw that he then addressed a few of the Americans. He asked if Natalee's parents where among them. One of the people said he was Natalee's step-father. He asked if the step-father would please go away for a second and told the rest of the people that they had been kissing in the back seat and that he had fingered the girl. Joran also said that the girl wanted to see the sharks and that because of that they had gone to the North coast of the island even though Joran had told her that there were no sharks there. Joran also said that the girl had said that her mother was the sister of “Hitler” and that she said she wanted to go to Austria. He also said the girl had asked him if Deepak and Satish were his slaves because the parents of the girl owned a plantation and that black people worked there like slaves. I am not sure whether he said this to the Americans or to the police-officers in the car. There was uncertainty for a moment whether Joran and the group of people where talking about the same girl. I can remember another name was mentioned next to Natalee's name. I thought the other name was Kathleen. When Joran however was shown a picture of the girl, he said that it had been this girl that he had made out with. He recognised her especially by her eyes and the mouth. After Charles CROES had spoken Joran others started interrogating Joran. That did not always go very subtle. Joran was accused and inconsistencies in his story where pointed out to him. I at that moment in time though that those inconsistencies where futilities and that he was seriously pressured from several sides/people. I told the Americans in the group to restrain themselves and told them they did not have any jurisdiction here and that they should act civil. I then addressed the police officers and told them they should take charge of the situation. I told Joran and Deepak that they should make their statements to the police-officers rather than to the Americans. At some point one of the Americans cursed out Deepak by calling him an “asshole”. I at that moment stated that they had gone too far and that Joran and Deepak should make no more statements to the Americans. One of the police officers indeed stepped in and said that this was no way to go forward. I said we should focus on finding the girl and not to insult people. I said to the Americans that they should realize they are in another country and they should act politely. One of the Americans suggested going to the “Light House” because according to Joran they had been there when they were driving around the girl. One of the police officers said that this was useless. I happened to agree with him. At that moment I wanted for Joran to go to his apartment and I wanted to return to bed. Joran however said that we should try our best to help and find this girl. One of the Americans suggested that we should go the Holiday Inn to take it further from there/view the situation.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

The group returned to the van der Sloot home. Joran and a friend, a young Surinamese man named Deepak Kalpoe, were waiting in the driveway. The two Policemen took the two of them aside. Jug Twitty and his two friends stood by as Joran answered questions. At first he denied any knowledge of Natalee, insisting he didn't even know the name. Twitty began to grow impatient. "Don't say you don't know who she is," Jug said. "We have eyewitnesses who saw you both in the car."
"Just tell us where she is," one of the Alabama men snapped.
"Don't be so rude," Paulus van der Sloot responded. "This is not America. You can't act like that."
Sensing the increasing tension, Croes decided to try to mediate. "So I went over to the father and the Police and I said, 'Is it O.K. if I talk to him?'" he says. "[The Policemen said,] 'Sure, we're not even a part of this yet. She can't be considered missing for 48 hours.'"
Looking Joran in the eyes, Croes lowered his voice. "You know you're in a whale of shit if you don't tell the truth here," he said.
"I am telling the truth," Joran said.
"Why don't you tell me what happened?" Croes said.
Joran considered this for a moment, then began talking. He said he had met Natalee in the Holiday Inn's casino Sunday afternoon. In the early evening she asked him to join her later at Carlos 'N Charlie's. He declined, saying it would be dead on a Sunday. A little before 11 he headed home with his father, who had picked him up at a McDonald's. At home, Joran said, he had second thoughts. He called Deepak Kalpoe, who drove over with his younger brother, Satish, to get him.
"So I snuck out of my house and went over to see her," he said. "She came on to me huge. Dancing suggestively. Like a slut. I did belly shots on her, on the bar. [Eventually she said,] 'Could you take me home?' So we left." When they piled into Deepak Kalpoe's silver Nissan, Joran said, Natalee seemed nonplussed to find the two Kalpoe brothers, who are black, sitting in the front.
"What are these guys, your slaves?" she supposedly asked Joran. By all accounts, Natalee was very drunk.
"What happened then?" Croes asked.
"We took her back to the "Holiday Inn," to the front door. When she got out of the car, she stumbled and fell. I went to help her, but she got up and walked on through the lobby." It was the last time, Joran insisted, that he had seen Natalee.
"O.K.," Croes said. "Is that the truth?"
"Yes."
"That's the truth? Look, Joran, you need to be truthful with me. You need to tell me everything. Where'd you go?"
Croes could see Joran's mind working. Finally, he said, "We didn't go directly to the "Holiday Inn." She wanted us to drive around. The girl was crazy. She was just crazy." According to Croes, Joran said Natalee then told him three things as they drove north past the Holiday Inn: that her mother was "like Hitler," that she was a virgin, and that she was a lesbian. She begged him to take her to a beach where she had heard she could see sharks, but Joran told her that was a local myth. She told him she wanted to have sex.
"Did you have sex with her?" Croes asked.
"Yeah," Joran said. "She gave me a blow job."
"Where'd that happen?"
"In the backseat of the car."
"So where'd you take her?"
"I took her to the lighthouse. For a while. We didn't get out."
According to Croes, Joran said that Deepak was increasingly uncomfortable at the lighthouse, fearful that Natalee would "make a mess" in the car, presumably by vomiting. Croes could feel Joran opening up; he appeared to be on the verge of an admission. Then, from the driveway, the voice of one of the Alabama men rose: "Well, you Aruban assholes better get your act together, and now!" (Jug Twitty, while acknowledging his group's impatience, denies the word "asshole" was used.)
Joran's head turned. "That's it," Paulus said. "This is no good." The decision was made that the entire group would return to the "Holiday Inn," where Joran promised he would point out a security guard who had helped Natalee.


On November 1, 2006 “Blogs For Natalee” reported about the October 28, 2006 meeting:

Beth, you made a statement that Joran's clothing the first night at the VDS residence was not in keeping with someone being in a Casino. What was Joran wearing? Joran was wearing light-weight short-short pants and a tee shirt.Was Joran's clothes dirty? NOBeth did Joran have a black eye? I do not remember.

A little bit reluctantly I got back into the police car with Deepak and Joran. The police officers were also somewhat tired of the situation and said that the Americans should report the girl missing. We then drove to the police-station in Noord and the police-officers consulted with the watch-commander.

On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

We then drove to the police-station in Noord and the police-officers consulted with the watch-commander. They also changed cars. I understood that the watch-commander had no objections to the police-officers going to the Holiday Inn together with Deepak, Joran and myself.

3:20 AM - 3:25 AM = On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

Between 03:20 hours and 03:25 hours, we had arrived at the Holiday Inn Hotel. When we arrived there, the Police officer(s) went to the manager of the security guards to try and get the details of the security guards that worked at the hotel. We had remained outside in front of the entrance. We just waited. Joran and his dad were talking at the Police car. I could not hear what they were saying. I stood at one of the concrete beam/pillar in front of the lobby. The man who had driven the green Yaris called me to come over to where he was. I went over to him. The man was sitting in the car. The man asked me in Papiamentu whether or not the story we told was true. I said yes to him. During the conversation I had with him I had for one reason or another shot my mouth off and said something about the sporting shoes. The man asked me what I meant by sporting shoes. I then said to him that I was thinking about something unrelated/different. Then I said to him that it was annoying/bothersome, because my mother was waiting for me. The man asked me if I wanted to call my mother. I said to him, yes, but I don't have any more minutes. The man then asked me for the number. I gave the man Satish's number. The man punched in the numbers and gave the phone to me. Satish answered the phone. I pretended that it was my mother on the line. I told Satish: “Mommy, I am now at the Holiday Inn but I will be home soon”. The reason I gave Satish's number is because I didn't want to talk to my mother. I wanted to get away from the Holiday Inn as soon as possible. The reason I wanted to leave is because I knew that the security guard didn't exist. We were never at the Holiday Inn. When I handed the phone back to the man, I saw the mother of the girl for the first time. She was in the back of the car. Then I asked the man since when the girl was missing. The man answered me since that afternoon. At one point Joran came and stood with us. Joran looked into the car and asked the man in the car whether the woman in the back was the mother. The man answered him, yes. Joran walked to the mother. Joran asked her if she was the mother. The mother kept looking seriously at Joran and said, yes. Joran had said to the mother in English that she should believe him and that he hadn't done anything bad to/with her daughter. The woman looked angrily at Joran and said to him that she knew that it had been him on the camera of the casino together with the girl and that it had been Joran with whom she went to Carlos & Charlies and that they hadn't seen on the camera of the lobby that we had brought her back, contradictory to what we had claimed/said. The woman asked Joran again what he had done with her daughter. Joran said he had done nothing. The woman answered Joran that she didn't believe him and that he was going to suffer for this. After that Joran said to her that he would help her anyway possible to help her get her daughter back. Then we walked to the lobby. Joran went and stood with his father. There were also a few men at the hotel who said they were from the FBI. There was also a woman who was looking for something in the papers from the hotel. I went and sat on one of the bar stools that were in the lobby. The whole process of looking and talking lasted to approximately 05.45 hours.

BETH stays in a car. The meeting lasts approximately 1 hour.
On October 13, 2005 when BETH was asked if she heard any 5-31 early morning statements made by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT about him sexually assaulting NATALEE, BETH replied, “That would be information that I obtained second hand. I did not hear Joran say this among the group. I was the only witness that remained in the car, but Jug has since relayed exactly what Joran had said.”
On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

When we arrived at the Holiday Inn there was a dark coloured man there standing with folded arms who later introduced himself as WILLIAMS from the F.B.I. This man immediately took Joran separately and had a short talk with him. I also went over to WILLIAMS and asked him what his function was. Then he told me he was with the F.B.I. so I returned to the the police officers and asked them whether they knew that F.B.I. officers were present there. They told me they did not know anything about that. I briefly talked with a member of staff from the Holiday Inn who told me there was only one camera and that this camera was pointed in the direction of the front desk. I also understood it was not certain whether or not that camera was actually working. One of the police officers had a lengthy discussion with WILLIAMS in the back of the lobby. I understood from the officer that he had informed WILLIAMS of the existence of the so-called “Beach bums”. Deepak also told a girl behind the front desk that he had seen that a security guard dressed in black had walked over to the girl after they had dropped her off. The security guard had been in the possession of a “walkie talkie”. The girl behind the front desk said that it could not have been one of their security guards because they wear white shirts.


On November 30, 2005 MSNBC played a videotape (recorded the last week in August, 2005 when RITA COSBY was in ARUBA) of an interview of JULIA RENFRO (the transplanted AMERICAN in ARUBA who moved to ARUBA 17+ years ago and owns an interest in many ARUBA businesses including an ARUBAAN's news-source) claiming

When Joran was initially questioned by the Police and the Twitty family, he immediately said that once Natalee was in the car, she had asked for a ride back to the Holiday Inn

Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed he tried to help her but she refused, saying, "I can stand on my own," then NATALEE got up and walked towards “Holiday Inn”, seeing a black security guard carrying a radio and clothed in black approaching NATALEE as the boys drove away.

…. BETH claims that during this meeting Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was as “arrogant” as any 17-year-old she has ever seen, he was acting “powerful,” and he got excited. When Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT approached her sitting in the car, BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , “I want my daughter, and I want her now,” then Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT reacted by throwing his head back, pounding his chest and yelled, “What do you want me to do! What do you want me to do!!”? BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated this same exchange between her and Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT occurred 5 times in a row. BETH also believes that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s attitude combined with his words when he kept saying this was really, “What do you want me to do? It is already too late for NATALEE.” (BETH also said she showed a NATALEE’s senior year picture to SLOOT’s at this meeting)
…. At one point during the meeting Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT quickly intervened and told Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , “You say nothing. You have to say nothing.”
On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

The decision was made that the entire group would return to the "Holiday Inn," where Joran promised he would point out a security guard who had helped Natalee. Once there, however, he was unable to do so. The atmosphere again grew heated, as Jug Twitty demanded to know what happened to his stepdaughter. "Don't tell them anything," Deepak Kalpoe told Joran. "You don't have to tell them anything."
By now it was almost five o'clock in the morning. The Policemen told Beth to wait at her hotel. A detective would come by and see her at eight.


On 8-11 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated that the Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admissions about him sexually assaulting NATALEE on 5-30 were stated by
him during the 5-31 early morning encounter between him, the TWITTY’s, and 8 other witnesses, NOT from the written declarations statements that BETH has copies of.
JODY BEARMAN said during the 5-31 meetings the 2 ARUBAN Police basically let the TWITTY’s and SLOOT’s do all the talking until emotions became “heated.” http://www.cdnn.info/news/travel/t050618.html BEARMAN said that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT during the 5:00 AM meeting that the families, including Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , went to the “Holiday Inn” and Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT showed them the spot where NATALEE had gotten out of Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's car ( Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT has since admitted this was nothing but a total lie) BEARMAN said because the TWITTY’s knew that Mountain Brook high school classmates had been in the hotel lobby (and we also know at least one student was in the pool area), and none of the classmates ever saw NATALEE, the TWITTY’s and their friends knew at that moment that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was lying (and soon after that is when things became “heated”)

On June 15, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News that during the 5-31 early morning encounters with Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT and then Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT that she never spoke to either of them.
In a FOX News interview on June 21, 2005 BETH stated, “Well, it was very limited, but when the van der Sloot young man approached the vehicle that I was seated in, he had the most condescending, arrogant, somewhat powerful attitude of any 17-year-old male I have ever seen.” “When he approached the car, I was holding a picture of Natalee. And I said, I want my daughter. I want her now. And he just threw his head back and hit his chest, and he said, What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do?” In a FOX News interview on 6-29 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated that this same exchange between her and Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT occurred 5 times in a row. BETH also believes that when Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s attitude was combined with his words when he kept saying this and beating his chest, he was really telling her, “What do you want me to do? It is already too late for NATALEE.” (BETH also said she showed a NATALEE’s senior year picture to SLOOT’s at this meeting)

On September 26, 2005 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed to the AMERICAN TV show “A Current Affair“:

WAGSCHAL: So, can you help us understand ‘cause I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, I mean you seem to be a guy who is smart and who knows what he is doing. So, can you understand why it seems you have not been forthcoming with the Police?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I just hope that people leave me alone and I can live my life like a normal person. That is all I am hoping for. I know me and my friends lied. And I am really sorry for that. I feel horrible for that, I really do, but, I mean, I can’t take it back now. It is too late for that.


On July 23, 2005 the MADISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI “Madison County Herald” reported:

Whatley told me that after Natalee first came up missing, her mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, himself and others confronted Joran van der Sloot and Satish and Deepak Kalpoe. He said Joran was very obnoxious and repeated that Natalee was very drunk.


On February 24, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC:

TWITTY: Well, they're just simply untrue. There again, I mean, you know there was a comment where Joran was saying that I was—something about I'm Hitler's daughter, that I was yelling at him and you know, Dan, that night I remained seated in the back seat of a car the entire time. I was so stunned that I couldn't even get out of the car to approach Joran. I mean he approached me in an aggressive matter. I didn't even approach Joran. ABRAMS: Yes. This is—here's again what he said. He says that the first time that you all met, you were screaming at him. Here's what he said and then I want to hear you—hear what you have to say.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
[of PRIME SUSPECT JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ]VAN DER SLOOT: All she said to me, she screamed at me was tell me where my daughter is. UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And did you? VAN DER SLOOT: I told her that I didn't know. (END VIDEO CLIP)ABRAMS: And that's not the way it happened?
TWITTY: No, Dan, I was seated in the back seat of a car, and the door was ajar and Joran is the one who approached me in the car and yes, I did in a firm manner ask him what did he do with Natalee and you know he just kept hitting his chest and throwing his head back and was just so arrogant and so condescending to me and you know, Dan, I was so stunned that I couldn't even hardly come up with anything besides, you know, what did you do with Natalee?


On June 23, 2005 the attorney for NATALEE’s Loved Ones, BENVINDA DE SOUSA, had a telephonic discussion with ARUBA Prosecutor JANSSEN, then sent JANSSEN the following letter containing the following statements:

Joran approached the group, with Deepak Kalpoe at his side, and began talking to the police officer. Seeing the clothes that he had on at that moment, it did not appear that he had just before been in a casino. Afterwards Joran wanted to approach mrs. Holloway, but interestingly enough . . . … mr. Van der Sloot informed him several times that he did not have to or should say anything, even that he should shut his mouth. Deepak also said that Joran shouldn’t say anything. According to Joran, he wanted to talk because he wanted to help find Nathalee. This last took place in front of the police officers, together with mr. Charles Croes, Alberto Groeneveld and his colleague Claudio Eldridge. Then, in any case, Joran began to tell that he that he indeed left Carlos & Charlie’s together with the brothers Kalpoe and Nathalee the night before. They had supposedly gone to the lighthouse on the western side of Aruba, and dropped Nathalee around 2:00 am at the Holiday Inn. Also understood by Claudio is that mr. van der Sloot said that he picked up Joran around 4:00 am close to McDonald’s. Afterwards Joran told what kind of sexual acts he did with Nathalee. The family noticed that Joran behaved in an arrogant and challenging way.


On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

There still was fierce discussion but one of the Americans wanted to shake my hand to express that he was sorry of having been so hurt full and agitated. I at that moment refused to shake that hand because I was still angry about their behaviour which prompted another American to say “talk about being civil”. A woman with long black hair was continuously talking on her mobile phone. I understood that she was informing the news media in the US to the fact that a girl had gone missing. I briefly talked to Charles CROES who had been driving the mother of the missing girl. He said that he didn't need to know anything more from Joran. He said that he had looked into Joran's eyes and understood from that ((HERE THERE IS A SECTION MISSING IN FORMER SUSPECT PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT ’s June 23, 2005 STATEMENTS))


On September 9, 2005 the “National Enquirer” reported:

EXCLUSIVE! NATALEE MOM'S HORRORNatalee Holloway's mother confronted her daughter's suspected killer, Joran van der Sloot, just minutes after he is believed to have dumped the honor student's body at sea.And when a frantic Beth Twitty begged a Policeman to search the trunk of his pal Deepak Kalpoe's car, the cop refused — passing up an opportunity to detect clues that could have cracked the case right then and there.…
Beth Twitty's drama began when she and her husband Jug flew to Aruba after learning that Natalee, 18, had failed to make the flight home with the rest of her graduating class from Mountain Brook high school, Ala.By the early hours of May 31, Beth had convinced a reluctant cop to help. He went with her to the "Holiday Inn" where Natalee and her classmates had stayed. There, they met a young man who brought up the names of Joran and Deepak and Satish Kalpoe — all later arrested on suspicion of rape and murder.Retired U.S. Secret Service agent Arthur Wood, who has been working with Aruban Investigators, said: "The kid agreed to lead the Twitty's and the officer to Joran's house. They got there around 3 am on May 31."Joran's father Paulus came out and the Policeman told him that the Americans were searching for their missing daughter, who'd last been seen leaving a nightclub with Joran around 1 am the previous morning."Paulus said he'd get Joran. Then he came back and said, 'He's not here.' He called Joran's cell phone and after speaking to him said, 'He says he's at the Wyndham hotel playing poker.'"They all headed for the Wyndham. But there was no sign of Joran in the casino. Since then I've questioned just about everyone at the hotel, and there is no indication Joran was ever there on the 31st."Paulus called Joran again, then told everyone, 'He's home now.' It was 4 am. The group went back to the house and found Joran and Deepak at the gate next to Deepak's Honda — the car in which Beth knew Natalee had left the nightclub the night before."Beth demanded: 'Where's my daughter?' Joran replied in a surly voice: 'I dropped her at the "Holiday Inn." What do you want me to do?'"Beth then begged the boys to open the trunk of the car and let the Policeman search it. Deepak didn't respond — and the Policeman wouldn't make him do it. We'll never know what clues Police might have found inside the car or the trunk because the Honda wasn't seized for several days."The belief is growing that Joran and Deepak may have just been coming back from getting rid of Natalee's body when Beth arrived at the house the second time."The theory is that they didn't have time to do it on the 30th — they needed someone with a boat, and it took them a day to arrange it. When Beth was at Joran's house the first time and was told he wasn't there, he may well have been disposing of her daughter's body just a few miles away."The latest Police theory also accounts for a fisherman's hut being broken into on the beach near where the three suspects say they last saw Natalee. The only items missing were a knife and some rope.Later the same day, another fisherman reported that one of his large wire mesh fish traps had been stolen — leading Investigators to believe that it may have been weighted down and used as a "casket" for Natalee's body.Said Wood: "It would have been very easy to hide her body in the dunes for 24 hours. And until Natalee's mom arrived in Aruba, no one was looking for her."



5:45 AM = On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

Joran's father had then said that Joran needed to go to school and the Police also that shouldn't happen like that and that the family members should go to the Police and file a missing persons report. Joran and me got back into the Police car. Joran's father remained behind and spoke with the family members and the people who said they were from the FBI. I had seen from the window of the car that Joran's father greeted the people and then he walked to the Police car. Then we drove off in the Police car. That is the last time I saw the family members of the missing girl in person. The Police officers drove from the Holiday Inn to Joran's house. The Police had dropped us off at Joran's house. One of the Police officers in the car said that he knew Joran, he had been to Joran's house once, because someone had thrown a brick through his window.



6:00 AM = Since the conversations and questions have become heated, and more than one of the “Mountain Brook” parents accuse the boys of lying and that they caused NATALEE physical harm, the 2 ARUBAN Police Officers request that the group disperse and that the TWITTY’s file a missing persons report with the ARUBAN Police.
On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

moment we got into the police car after I had shook every ones hands, all except the long black haired woman who was still on the phone. WILLIAMS told me that I should count on the fact they they would want to talk to Joran again. The mother of the girl by that time had already left. At least I did not see her anymore. We were dropped off home by the officers. It was starting to get light.

On June 14, 2005 “Riehl World View” wrote about the events of the day of 5-30 and the 5-31 early morning encounter between the families:

Sun-tanned and not-rested, much as any bright new life might find itself glowing after a mostly uneventful but fully enjoyable trip, seniors were expected to be in the lobby of the Holiday Inn by 10:30 on Monday morning to assemble for the journey home. One young blond face of a reportedly mostly shy girl named Natalee Holloway never did join the gathering there.
Assuming she had simply stayed the night in another room with other friends, Natalee's roommates gathered up her belongings - luggage, purse, cell phone, and passport, bringing them down to the now crowding lobby in preparation for their flight home. As the bus began to load, adults began to ask questions of the seniors as to why the missing Natalee might not be there. Her friends stated that she had left Carlos and Charlies with a local boy.
It was decided that the students and 6 of the 7 chaperones for the trip would go on to the airport so as to not miss their flight back home. Many of the chaperones were veterans of the trip as it had become almost a ritual having been undertaken without incident for the past five, or so years. The remaining chaperone, who was not my source for this story, kept her belongings, including cell phone, in case she turned up at the hotel.
Had she made a youthful misjudgment, maybe over-slept somewhere? Or, was she perhaps simply too embarrassed for having made a choice many might characterize as unusual for the girl? It's impossible to under-speculate as to what thoughts likely passed through the mind of a presumably worried chaperone sitting alone in a hotel lobby waiting for the return of an increasingly missed young girl.
Local Police were first notified of the situation at approximately 11:30 AM, one hour after the seniors scheduled departure from the hotel lobby. A member of the beach patrol was dispatched to take a report and collect a copy of her passport for identification purposes.
Hotel staff interacted with the chaperone, answering questions and putting forth possible explanations prior to the travel agent for the trip being contacted at approximately 2PM. That is believed to be close to the time of the departing flight, though the exact time of the flight is unconfirmed. The travel agent then contacted Natalee's family.
The parents and several high profile Birmingham business men left Birmingham around 4:30 CST on a private jet owned by one of the men, G. Ruffner Page, Jr., President of McWane Inc. - one of Alabama's s largest private companies. The private plane is owned by the company. Natalee's parents placed several calls regarding the troubling developments prior to their departure for Aruba. At approximately 5:00 CST a member of the US DEA contacted the remaining chaperone. The DEA representative was on Aruba on another matter and the two individuals agreed to meet that evening back at the Holiday Inn.
By now the seniors, save one notable exception were back in Atlanta and several received incoming calls from Aruba from Natalee's cell phone. Unfortunately, what some thought was the re-appearance of their missing friend turned out to be more questions about her disappearance from the chaperone back in Aruba. Attempting to provide as much helpful information as possible the chaperone was informed that the boy with whom Natalee left Carlos and Charlies was somewhat known to them for having had played poker with several of their male classmates during the course of the trip. They identified the local boy only as Joran.
The chaperone later turned up at the casino asking questions about a boy named Joran. A poker room manager consulted existing lists and reports suggest that it was then that the boy in question was first identified as having a last initial of "V." A casino employee suggested asking questions of other hotel employees and taxi drivers, at least one of whom first identified the boy as being Joran van der Sloot, son of Anita and Paulus van der Sloot and an honor roll student at the International School who has been known to frequent the casinos, sometimes in the company of his Father.
I've reported earlier below on what I have been told of Paulus van der Sloot. If a discovered old profile from the International School is actually that of Anita van der Sloot, as some suggest, it describes one Anita van der Sloot - Hugen, a teacher at the school.
The found profile of one Anita van der Sloot - Hugen lists her credentials and experience along with a favorite quotation of "Life is creation, creation is art" and a life mission "to become a spiritual leader," and also stating "My mission as an educator in this life is to touch students’ hearts and to lead them on the path of discovery and self-expression."
Some have suggested that if this is actually the profile of Ms. van der Sloot, it contrasts starkly with the known but now disappeared web profile of Joran van der Sloot. Joran's web profile was known to contain several pictures predominantly involving drinking and gambling in what appear to be clubs or casinos on Aruba. Additionally, some have characterized his taste in music as "misogynist," though his taste in music seems to differ little from what many of America's youth listen to today. Joran van der Sloot is currently being held by Aruban authorities as the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway continues.
The previously mentioned DEA representative arrived at the hotel at approximately 8 PM and conversed with the chaperone which resulted in the local Police receiving a call from the chaperone at approximately 9PM for an update on the Natalee Holloway situation. It has been reported to me that at that time no official report had been filed and suggested that the member of the Aruban beach patrol failed to submit any information on the case. The DEA representative provided the chaperone with contact information and left.
The parents of Natalee Holloway were reported to have arrived at the hotel at approximately 10 PM. Several of the Alabama businessmen and the chaperone proceeded to Carlos and Charlies to see if they might gather additional information. Joran van der Sloot appears to be a well-known figure at the casino and an employee directed the group to a taxi driver said to be very knowledgeable as to comings and goings on the island. It was now approximately midnight.
The taxi driver provided more detailed information about Joran and the group decided to approach the Police with the information they had gathered. After discussing the information with the local Police, the group, accompanied by two officers headed to the van der Sloot home. The officers honked the horn repeatedly every few minutes in front of the house prior to the emergence of Joran's Father at approximately 12:30 am.
Joran was not home and his father told the group that he could be found playing poker at one of the casinos in the Palm Beach area of Aruba. The group, including the father, headed off to locate the boy. Upon arriving at the casino, the Police, security guards, along with Natalee's parents are said to have "swarmed" onto the floor and at least one report states the Police had their weapons drawn.
The young van der Sloot was not located in the casino. Soon thereafter, Joran van der Sloot placed a call to his Father's cell phone and informed him that he was at home.
The entire group, including the Police, headed back to the van der Sloot home. They arrived to find Joran van der Sloot and Satish Kalpoe, the younger of two brothers recently detained in the matter, leaning casually against what has been reported to be the grey car now impounded in the investigation.
The Police set about questioning the two boys. They are said to have claimed at that time that the now missing Natalee Holloway did indeed leave Carlos And Charlies with them and the entire group went to the lighthouse area together prior to dropping Natalee back at her hotel. The boys also made additional claims consistent with other earlier reports.
With Natalee's Mother said to have remained in the car, possibly out of the emotion involved in meeting two of the now three boys alleged to have been the last to see her daughter alive, others in the group including the Stepfather were present as the questioning continued for approximately an hour.
Certain aspects of the discussion, some said to have involved Joran van der Sloot 's Father, led to the discussion becoming heated and Police officers requested that the group disperse. More than one individual among the group of Americans present at the Joran home that night report a belief that the boys were lying and did indeed do something to harm Natalee Holloway.
Also mostly unreported as of this writing is the great toll this is taking upon many students and adults in Mountain Brook linked in some manner to this quite possibly tragic event. Reports suggest that some, including adults beyond Natalee's immediate family are struggling in ways we can only imagine as observers and need our patience and understanding, perhaps more than our judgments at this time.
In terms of additional minor reports, conversations with a source in Aruba today confirmed a seeming lack in the way of any formal statement from Deepak Kalpoe's attorney, said to be Romero Oomer. We agree that we find this in stark contrast to other attorneys in the case, most all of whom have made some, if not many statements to the press. It is being pointed out only as an observation and is meant to suggest nothing more.
Lastly, sources also confirm that FBI officials from Birmingham have questioned several, if not all of the students on the trip.

On Fox tonight it appeared as though statements from Americans present that night have been put into the form of affidavits and are being provided to ALE. If those statements claim some form of rape, or sexual assault, it will certainly be news to me and also a big surprise as a result of multiple previous discussions on this very topic with highly credible sources back in June and July.
To be a bit more specific as it now seems this topic is in the news:

The first bold section above is the full extent to which I felt it necessary to address the sexual nature of that night's discussion. When I said it was consistent with earlier reports, I believe those reports claimed some type of consensual sexual activity with Natalee. The second part in bold dealt with information I was given as regards an altercation which started between Jug Twitty and Paulus van der Sloot when Jug is said to have made a comment as to Paulus being an unfit parent as a result of allowing his son to be out late at night and at a casino. It was only much later that Joran claimed to have sneaked out of the house.

On 10-14 JUG TWITTY stated to FOX News that in regards to the 2 ARUBAN Police officers who witnessed the early morning 5-31 encounter between the TWITTY’s and Murder Suspects SLOOT’s that the 2 ARUBAN Police officers/witnesses did not document in their witness reports that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitted having sex because their ARUBAN Police supervisor told JUG TWITTY that the 2 ARUBAN Police officers/witnesses claim they cannot recall what was said that night.
On 7-17 JUG TWITTY stated that he was not asked by ARUBAN Police Investigators to make a statement about hearing the Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE claiming the “Holiday Inn” alibi-lies in the early morning hours meetings of 5-31 “until 30 days after” the events of 5-31 (his statement was not requested by the ARUBAN Police Investigators until 6-30). JUG TWITTY also stated 7-17 that the other witnesses to the early morning hours meetings of 5-31 were not asked by ARUBAN Police Investigators to make a statement about hearing the Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE claiming the “Holiday Inn” alibi-lies “until 19 days after” the events of 5-31 (these several other witnesses statements were not requested by the ARUBAN Police Investigators until 6-19). JUG TWITTY also stated that the UNITED STATES D.E.A. agent who also heard Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE claiming the “Holiday Inn” alibi-lies in the early morning hours meetings of 5-31 has never even been asked by ARUBAN Police to make a statement.
On July 18, 2005 JUG stated to FOX News, “So you know, if I had it all to do over again, Greta, when we got to that judge's house that night, we would have taken — we had three vans. I would have blocked that car in, and if I didn't think, you know, that the police were going to do anything the next morning, I would have parked those cars there and let them tow them away until I could open that car, open that trunk and look in that silver car the next morning.”
On 7-28 JUG stated to FOX News “Things are happening here that were not happening two or three weeks ago.”
When asked if things are happening because of things that have been discussed publicly, or, because of things that have not been discussed publicly, JUG answered, “Because of things that are not being discussed publicly.” JUG also stated “Well, we came to the island. Beth and I were in the hotel. We searched around. We went to Carlos and Charlie's, and everything. Long story short, one of the guys that was with us paid somebody on the beach $100 to find out who this kid was, where he lived. Basically, we went to the police station, got two uniformed officers, which I'm really interested in seeing those names. I've asked for those from the beginning because they were actually with us at least two hours that night because we took them to his house. Then we left there and went to the Windham. Then we came back to his house, and then we left there and came back to the Holiday Inn.” “And I've asked, you know, every time I get in a meeting with whoever, authorities, that I would like to see those statements from those two policemen.”
On October 4, 2005, after being asked if on 5-31 the Police told her they didn’t need her, BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to CNN, “Correct. I was not needed on the 31st to give my statement. I went in June 1 approximately 10:00 AM and gave my statement. It was printed in Dutch. It was translated for me in English, and I signed it. The same day on June 1 at 10:00 PM, the same detective brought me two statements, one that I had signed.” At 10:00 PM on 6-1 an ARUBAN Police Investigator had been sent and found BETH, JUG TWITTY and eight “family friends” eating in a restaurant and told BETH that there had been some changes in her statement (supposedly the changes only had to do with only a date), and because of the changes BETH had to sign the revised statement which the DUTCH Investigator shows her, and, the statement was only written in DUTCH. BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated the DUTCH Investigator who brought her revised statement said, “I need you to sign this new statement. There was a change that had to have been made.” “Jug spoke with them. You know, Nancy, I was not able to make any type of decisions on what I was signing. I mean, something was presented before me. I’m looking for my daughter in a foreign country. What was I going to do?” “We found out about three weeks later that statement that I signed on June 10 is not my statement. We were given that statement by an Aruban attorney sometime during the month of July and finally had it translated, and it is not my original statement.” “There were a lot of names that were left out, you know, just key elements as far as how Joran asked Jug and -- to leave the group before he admitted the sexual assaults that he committed against Natalee and -- and just a lot of things. You know, Paulus's name -- I didn't know anyone's name. I didn't know Charles Croes's name, which is just ludicrous.” “Well, not only did he know specific details about her underclothing, but also just physical descriptions of her without her clothes on.” “Absolutely. That's what I would love to know. On June 11, he [ODUBER] states on international media in front of me -- I had no idea what he was about to disclose -- that there was blood in the Kalpoe’s' vehicle, there was DNA, and there was blood. Where is that? Even (INAUDIBLE) went so far to cut interior portions from the car -- the back seat, the ceiling. You know, what happened with that?” “You know, Nancy, the sad part is that’s just half of it. I mean I was thinking of all the witnesses, the bogus sightings and the things that we’ve been on, and all these other persons of interest. I mean we’ve got people from -- with names from von Rain (ph) and von Loom (ph) and Freddy -- and what happened to all of them? And all of their alibis have been destroyed. I mean I think of Freddy and I think what happened to him? You know what has happened to all of these persons of interest?” “Oh, yes, we asked. And in his statement he says he took her to his home. He doesn’t say his apartment. And I’m thinking I cannot believe that the primary residence was never searched.” “Well, there is a taped confession [recorded by private Investigator SKEETERS] from Deepak Kalpoe that they all had sex with my daughter. And we were told early on that you know new evidence, when it’s brought forward that it would warrant the re-incarceration of these suspects. And we felt like even as early as you know 1st of July that we could be headed towards you know kidnapping and rape charges against these young men definitively.” “You know she was not able to choose her will. You know this is -- that constitutes -- that’s a gang rape and I don’t know who they all are. We know Deepak and Satish Kalpoe and Joran van der Sloot, but who else, who else was at the home that night. Who else was there? We don’t know that.”

We gave them 10 days too long, Jane. That‘s exactly what happened.” “Remember, within the first 24 hours, we knew who the suspects were. We knew the persons that Natalee were taken from Carlos and Charlie‘s. We knew the license plate of the gray Honda they placed her in. We knew the condition that Natalee was in. We knew the behavior or the conduct in which they engaged in with Natalee. And then not only that, Jane, within 72 hours (by 6-3), we knew that their first story was totally fabricated, that within the first 72 hours, I faced a room of 12 — at least 12 detectives, Aruban and Dutch detectives, and a lead detective, Dennis Jacobs, and they knew after we reviewed video footage from the "Holiday Inn" casino lobby that my daughter had never been brought back to the "Holiday Inn." They knew that those suspects were fabricating a story from day one.” “Something that the family knew—and we have to keep reminding everyone--after 72 hours---72 hours---we knew definitively that these suspects were not telling the truth. 10 minutes after this call he came home. He immediately came to my room. I asked right away what was going on. My brother told me the girl we and Joran dropped off at Marriot Hotel beach is missing. I asked my brother how this was possible. It seemed strange to me. I had seen the girl a day before that and now she was missing. My brother also told me the police and the girl´s family members, together with an FBI agent came to Joran´s house. According to my brother an uncle of the girl became aggressive when he learned my brother was the driver of the car. Joran´s father asked the people to leave. My brother also told me the mother of the girl showed him a photo of her and asked him where she was. Because I had to go to school we decided to further discuss the matter after school. My brother went to sleep. After I spoke to him I sent Joran a message (sms). In this message I asked him to inform me about the situation.

I had told him that the girl that we went out with, had gone missing. And that they are saying that we are the last people with whom the girl was last seen. Then I told him the story of the security guard. That story I hadn't told Satish on the phone. Satish asked me if we were in trouble and I said that I didn't think so because we weren't the ones who had been kissing her. After that Satish said to me that we would talk later, but that he needed to get ready to go to school.. Then I said to him that I would be going to bed too. I walked to my bedroom and turned on my airco and my computer and I went on "msn messenger". I had then turned off the screen of my computer and the loudspeakers. I sat down on my bed, took off my shoes and fell asleep. I was very tired. And that was in the night from Monday to Tuesday.
To your question as to what Joran was wearing that day from Monday to Tuesday when he went to the casino, I can say the following. He had on a light blue T-shirt and short trousers. I think the afore mentioned trousers were blue but I am not sure of that. He wore blue slippers.

TWITTY: The chief of Police or whatever --GRACE: "I haven’t had my Frosted Flakes?" Did I just hear that?J. TWITTY: Yes.GRACE: Hold on, hold on, let me just check this earpiece for a minute. The mother of a missing girl says, "I need to speak to you right now," and the chief of Police says, "I’ve got to have my Frosted Flakes."J. TWITTY: That’s just one small thing that he said that was very disturbing to me because, you know, I sat back there with Beth when he was talking to her, and some of the things were so sickening to me that he was talking about, and I’ll just say it, because I had to explain -- he was talking about putas and things, and I had to explain to her what that meant.GRACE: You mean he said the word bitch? The chief of Police did? Is that who we’re still talking about?J. TWITTY: They were just using language like this when we were sitting in there and she was trying to give her statements and stuff, and joking about it and everything. The whole thing was like it was a joke, like she’s going to show up. She’s drunk, she’ll come in -- you know, don’t worry about it.GRACE: Is that the way you remember it, Beth?B. TWITTY: Oh, yeah, Nancy.GRACE: Did you understand, I know they were speaking a different language partially at that time -- did you understand what they were saying? B. TWITTY: I understood everything they were saying, Nancy.GRACE: Who exactly is the bitch in this scenario?J. TWITTY: He was using language like that, you know, just graphic language like that, jokingly, and, you know, like what goes on in Aruba, this happens and this happens, and, you know, just some of the words he was using, to me, it was sickening to me to have to sit here. GRACE: When your girl is missing.J. TWITTY: Right. GRACE: You’re at their mercy.J. TWITTY: We were at their mercy, and I am sitting there saying, these guys are on our side. I have to sit here and listen to this to try to get an answer.


On 12-5 the December 2005 “Vanity Fair” magazine reported:

The Policemen told Beth to wait at her hotel. A detective would come by and see her at eight. Detective Dennis Jacobs arrived at 8:15, took down Natalee's description, and led Beth to the Police station. Beth sat in the lobby for three hours until Jacobs spoke to her again. She rose, eager to pour out everything she had learned. Suddenly, Jacobs said, "We won't be needing you." Beth stood there, stunned, uncertain what to do. After a moment she walked outside, where she ran into the first of the hundreds of television crews she would soon encounter. "That was the moment," she says today, "that I realized we were in serious trouble."
Relations between the desperate Twittys and the Aruban Police had gotten off to an atrocious start and never recovered. When Beth and Jug returned to the Police station the next morning, they found Officer Jacobs's behavior cavalier in the extreme. "Wait, I haven't had my Frosted Flakes, and I haven't shaved yet," he said as they were about to give him their statement. What the Twittys didn't yet understand was that missing tourists are hardly unusual in Aruba. Barely a week goes by without an American failing to return to his or her cruise ship, or deciding to stay a little longer in paradise. Almost all turn up within days. When a tourist goes missing, the last thing the Police expect is a murder.
The Twittys, in turn, struck the Aruban Police as rude, arrogant, and demanding. "I didn't really know who I was dealing with; I thought it was just a regular American family," recalls Dompig, an F.B.I.-trained veteran who worked as a Police officer for 10 years in the Netherlands. When he promised to mobilize every available resource to find Natalee, "Beth was wonderful, really understanding," Dompig says. "She asked us to do everything possible, as any mother would. But Jug and the other guys, they started saying they didn't trust us, because we're not capable, and they've been here 48 hours! You know, 'What kind of show are you running here?' These are the words they used to try and scare me. They were trying to intimidate me."

On July 14, 2005 TITO LACLE reported to FOX News that his investigations, which has included his and colleagues’ speaking with his classmates, of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s character reveals that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT is a “different person” by day than he is at night. TITO LACLE claims that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT has “different attitudes, depending on who he is with,” that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT is “short-tempered,” and that on May 30, 2005 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT had a noticeably blackened eye when Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT went to school--with Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claiming that he received the blackened eye in a fight with Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s friends while Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was at "Carlos 'N Charlie's" after midnight on 5-29.

I saw the white, blond haired girl dancing and that when she saw Joran she gestured with her hands to have Joran dance with her on the stage. Joran would not dance with the young lady and he continued stand beside my brother and I. Joran told me that the girl according to him was drunk. After the song was over, I saw the girl go to Joran and say to him in English “Hi, how is it goin? Why didn't you dance with me? (hello, how goes it? Why you did not dance with me; observation JACOBS) Joran started to laugh hard, but I could not hear what he answered her. Hereafter the girl tried to dance again with Joran but he refused to. The girl walked over to three girls and two boys who stood nearby. According to me these were friends of the blonde girl. Then I turned to talk with a friend myself and when I turned back my brother and Joran were no longer there. I continued to walk around in Carlos & Charlies in search of my brother and Joran but I could not find them. I knew for certain that my brother and Joran were not in Carlos & Charlies at that moment because I had looked around the whole place. At that time it was 01.00 and everyone started leaving. On Monday, May 30, 2005, around 01.05, I walked to my car to wait for Joran and my brother. Around 01.12 Satish and Joran came to my car. My brother sat beside me in the car and then in the mirror, I saw that Joran and the blonde girl that had been dancing on the stage, sat in the back seat. I greeted the girl in English and she greeted me in English. The girl did not introduce herself. The girl then told me that I had a beautiful car and that she would like to drive around. Joran said to me that he also wanted to drive around. I drove two rounds with my car and saw that near Dunkin Dunuts, a group of the Visibility Team stood. I drove hereafter past the Royal Plaza and I saw that a group of persons stood there. When the girl saw the group of persons, she put her head outside the window and called out something to them. She called a boys name, but I no longer remember what name she called. The young person came over to my car and told her to get out of my car. Joran and the girl started kiss each other. I drove beyond the large hotels in a northern direction. When we were near the Malmok area, I saw that Joran started touching the breasts of the girl. I drove at the request of the girl in the direction of the Lighthouse, because the girl wanted to see it. After we drove up along side the Lighthouse, I returned to the Sasakiweg (main road?). Joran told me that the girl had fallen asleep. I told Joran to wake her up and ask what hotel she was staying at. I heard that the girl tell Joran the Holiday Inn. I asked Joran if the girl said the Holiday Inn and Joran said yes. I drove hereafter in the direction of the Holiday Inn and parked my car at the second column at the hotel. (?) I heard the car door open and turned around to see who got out. I saw the girl got out and fell on the ground. Joran also got out of the car and tried to help the girl stand up I saw that Joran held the girl at her shoulders and started to walk in the direction of the lobby. I saw that the girl turned to Joran and pushed him away. I saw that Joran turned around and came back to my car. I saw that the girl was headed to the inside of the lobby, then I started to drive away. The last thing I saw was the girl walk up to a large dark man, who was wearing a black t-shirt and carried a “walkie talkie” in his hands. On your question if I can give you a better description of the large dark man, who had walked up to the girl from the lobby, I can tell you the following: - he is approximately 1.85 meters tall; - he has a heavy set body; - he has close-cropped hair; - he wore a black t-shirt; - he wore a black cotton long trousers which most of the keepers use and - he kept walkie talkie in its hands and according to me he spoke by means of the walkie talkie. Joran had said to me that he had told Freddie the story about the Holiday Inn and also the truth. Joran had said only Freddy because he is my best friend. I had asked Joran if he did anything with/to* the girl. Joran had told us that he did not do anything with/to* the girl and that the girl had fallen asleep on the beach and that he had left her there. Freddie asked him why he had left his sport-shoes there. I do not know what Joran had said, but he came up with an excuse as to why he had and they he walked outside. I was busy in the kitchen and did not hear everything Freddy was saying. Only at the end of the conversation I joined them. On July 27, 2005 TITO LACLE reported to FOX News that DNA from a male person has been tested to be on NATALEE’s toothbrush that was in her “Holiday Inn” room she shared with 3 other friends. The toothbrush was taken into evidence 5-31 by ARUBAN Investigators, but only recently tested for DNA. TITO LACLE also stated his sources are claiming there is no other DNA evidence.

Joran had told us that he did not do anything with/to* the girl and that the girl had fallen asleep on the beach and that he had left her there. Freddie asked him why he had left his sport-shoes there. I do not know what Joran had said, but he came up with an excuse as to why he had and they he walked outside. Freddie then said to me in Papiamentu, "Eia hasi hopt coi pendew si di faga e mucha eynan" (loose translation by reporting officer. He has done a stupid thing leaving that girl alone on the beach). I answered Freddie that I told him the same thing. Every time we asked him about the shoes, he did not answer.



On June 29, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

On your questions whether I was present at Joran's apartment when Joran told the story to Freddy, I can say the following. Yes, I was at the apartment that day. It was on the 31st of May in the evening hours.

Also, on 5-31 a Rasta man fatally stabbed another man on an ARUBA beach.

May 31: High School Student Missing In Aruba

A high school’s senior trip to Aruba went terribly wrong for a local family. The trip ended without Natalee Holloway returning.
The 18-year-old went to a nightclub in Aruba with a man she befriended on the trip. She was last seen in the man’s car leaving the club about 1 a.m. Monday.
The man, who lives in Aruba, has been interrogated, and his car is in FBI custody.
The FBI along with local authorities are investigating Holloway’s disappearance. School officials said the event is not school sponsored and is the choice of the students and parents if they want to go.
Holloway’s family is in Aruba helping in the investigation.
The trip has been by taken by Mountain Brook students and chaperones for the last three years. About 138 seniors and seven chaperones took the trip this year.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Mountain Brook high school graduate disappeared during a senior trip to Aruba, FBI officials said Tuesday.
Special agent Jeff Fuqua said Birmingham FBI agents were coordinating with FBI officials in the Caribbean to search for Natalee Holloway, who took the trip after her May 24 graduation. She never showed up for the group’s return flight Monday, the Birmingham News reported.
“We have been made aware of the missing girl, and we’re looking into the matter,” Fuqua said.
Police in Aruba also said they were searching for Holloway.
Students said about 125 graduating seniors and adults took the five-day trip, which is an annual tradition not sponsored by the school.
“We went to check in for our airplane, and she wasn’t there, and she’s been missing since then,” said Jay Weinacker, a member of Holloway’s graduating class.
Officials at Mountain Brook Community Church said more than 150 people participated Tuesday in a prayer service for Holloway.
“Word just kind of got out, and parents and students just really wanted to get together and have a little prayer service for the whole situation,” said Troy Gambrell, an associate in the youth ministry.
Holloway’s family members declined comment, the Birmingham News reported.
