On 9-16 the “Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association” put out at a press conference:

Dear Members and friends, As all of you know by now, Beth Twitty appeared on the syndicated talk show program – Dr.Phil - late yesterday afternoon. In a nutshell, the content of the program and the call to boycott travel to Aruba made by Dr. Phil McGraw in a most inflammatory manner could have very serious consequences. This message is meant to let you know that AHATA and the Strategic Communications Task Force that we have organized are not taking this lightly and action is being taken. The following entities participated in a two hour meeting and conference call this morning: AHATA, ATA, ATIA, Chamber of Commerce, SDMG group (Communications consultants), Fitzgerald and Company (Aruba’s Advertising Agency), the Alexander Group (a Washington DC lobbying firm), Aruba’s Representative at the Dutch Embassy in Washington, and several other private citizens who are contributing to the Task Force, including Senior Advisor Governor Olindo Koolman and Advisor – Jaap Beaujon. We discussed a wide range of options and delineated a course of action. In addition, we held a press conference at noon to explain to the people of Aruba the outrage and dismay we all feel on account of the irresponsible remarks by the show host – Dr.Phil – and to present some of our actions as well as call for continuing calm and prudence. The latter is certainly essential in the manner we respond and react to these unfortunate comments. Myrna Jansen, Managing Director at ATA framed the situation providing a sense of perspective as it relates to our number one market and our visitor industry. I provided a summary of some of the most pressing actions underway and Jeff Lesker, Chairman of AHATA and Serge Mansur – president of ATIA, finished with excellent commentary on the collective frustration we are all suffering, the behind the scenes efforts of the Task Force, as well the need for continuing respect, equanimity and hospitality. These are the hallmarks that have made Aruba what it is today and Arubaans such great hosts to millions of visitors. Some of the actions we are undertaking include:-issuing a challenge to TV stations that aired the show to provide Aruba “equal time” -enlisting the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands relative to resources to respond to the challenge at hand -identifying credible spokespersons to deliver powerful messages that correct these inaccuracies and attacks on our island-exploring alliances with travel partners-exploring all legal remedies and options in relation to the irresponsible statements on the programArubaans should be proud of their exemplary actions and maturity over the past three months of this situation; the outpouring of empathy and support to the missing girl’s family and the enormous efforts to find Natalee and solve this mystery. The ability to maintain that dignity in the face of such outrageous and irresponsible attacks will be the real story that will surface at the end. It will tell the world that this is indeed a civilized, respectful and sophisticated society. A society and a community with a well established judicial system, who respect the rule of law, the institutions, the media and people from all walks of life. Below you will find a great piece written by Steve Cohen of our Consulting team that was posted on arubatruth.com this morning. I recommend you take the time to read it and feel free to send comments directly to that web site.We also recommend that you express your opinion directly to Dr. Phil on his web site:

On 9-16 the ARUBAAN's news-source "Amigoe.com" reported:

During a gathering for the European-Dutch population on the island that was organized by opposition AVP in Club Havana earlier this week, former chief of Police Jan van der Straten expressed heavy criticism on the ‘unprecedented pressure’ of the current government on the Public Prosecutor (OM) and the Police. Reliable sources within the OM confirmed this situation. The AVP invited van der Straten as guest speaker. He used the occasion to talk about the enormous pressure that the Oduber-cabinet had put on the OM and the Police in the past period of office. “Not only the system is under unprecedented pressure, but also individuals experience that pressure and are literally being threatened and fired. The government doesn’t even hesitate taking it to the lowest degenerated level.” He even gave a concrete example of intimidation that he experienced: “Isn’t it something when the Prime Minister gives the order to retrieve van der Straten’s possessions and afterwards comment about these in public?” He didn’t want to go into details about what he called ‘examples where people’s privacy was invaded and where people are locked up because of their actions and expressions.”
Van der Straten says that the Oduber-cabinet won’t last: “The nation does not want a prime minister that has time for such matters. Short term thinking and short term actions are not in the interest of the nation and definitely do not contribute to the increase of the integrity. Oduber will not get the absolute majority and he will then get out. Those were his words, not mine.”
He also criticized the government’s security policy: “You don’t increase the safety in Aruba by giving everybody weapons. You don’t increase the safety by establishing shooting associations with an international character. You don’t increase the safety by throwing hunting methods at illegal persons, while you should have taken actions long before they got here. You don’t increase the safety by appointing people in the Police corps that have not been screened enough. You don’t increase the safety by continuously undermining the authority of the Corps management with all sorts of memo’s of so-called advisors. You don’t increase the safety by calling Police officers ‘scouts’ and continuously undermining the confidence of the Corps. You increase the safety by taking a model position in the field of openness, honesty, integrity, vision, and decisiveness.”
AVP-leader Mike Eman thanked van der Straten for giving his opinion: “It is very important when a person like van der Straten that knows the comings and goings in our society, gives such distress signals. I think that we have to take this very serious and that we cannot continue like this. A radical change is necessary after September 23rd.

On 9-16 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "Thanks to Deepak it is no longer a mystery what they did to Natalee. Deepak admitted on national media how they all three raped her. Hopefully with this new evidence, the prosecutor will re-arrest the three.” “He didn’t say where it happened. I am certain now, that with Joran’s statement that they took her to his house, this is where they raped Natalee.” When BETH was asked if Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE used the words rape, against her will, or was he precise? , BETH answered “Well, Deepak is stating they all three had sex with Natalee. But, we have to keep in mind that Joran and Deepak not only in statements, but also to us her family the night we arrived on the island. They described Natalee has coming in and out of consciousness, awake, asleep, awake, asleep. So, they have her in an altered state of mind, whether they placed a drug in her shot, I don’t know what they did to her.” When asked if the ARUBA prosecutor, ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN has spoken to BETH since the 3 Main Murder Suspects have been released, BETH stated, “I am sad to tell you, I have not been able to get in touch with her. I have tried since as early as Monday, but I believe she has either taken a vacation or is on leave. Today is Friday and still have not heard a word.” “Some things just don’t seem to be changing, Greta.” “Hopefully when she (ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN) gets back…I have always been told that if new evidence was brought forward, it would warrant the re-arrest of the three. I can’t imagine this not happening now with this new evidence.”
On 9-16 the “National Enquirer” reported:

COVER-UPLAW OFFICIALS FEAR THAT ONE OF THEIR OWN DISPOSED OF NATALEE'S BODYBy DAVID WRIGHT Prosecutors in the Natalee Holloway case are investigating the chilling possibility that a renegade cop may have helped dispose of the 18-year-old honor student's body, The National Enquirer has learned. And, as prime suspect Joran van der Sloot enjoys freedom in Holland, it fuels fears that the case against him and two other suspects in Aruba has been successfully sabotaged. "There are powerful people on the island who don't want this case solved," said a close source. And American Investigator Arthur Wood, a retired U.S. Secret Service agent, said bitterly: "There's no doubt in my mind that the case has been sabotaged from within."Soon after Natalee went missing on May 30, one of the top detectives on the case told me he had a reliable lead that she was being held in a certain house — and asked me to do surveillance there. I was puzzled and I told him, 'Surely that's a job for the Police.' He looked me in the eye and said, 'I can't trust my own officers.'" When Wood searched the house, he found nothing.Joran, 18, and his pals Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were released from prison in early September — despite remaining under suspicion of rape and murder. Two days later Joran an was allowed to fly to Holland and enroll in college in Arnhem.Meanwhile in Aruba, the possibility that a cop may have been involved in Natalee's disappearance has been a well-kept secret until now.Wood, who's been on the island since June, said: "It began with a witness who was at the lighthouse area on the beach shortly before a big search for Natalee's body was about to start there. In the distance he saw a Police car on the dunes with its trunk open. When the witness got closer, the man slammed down the trunk and took off."Some time later a woman came forward. She said she'd been told that a Policeman helped to dig up Natalee's body from the sand at the lighthouse where it had been hidden."Everyone agrees that if the body was dumped at sea, as detectives believe, the killers must have had some cool-headed professional help. The cop could have provided that.""I believe the cover-up began from the start. The Police commissioner [STRATEN] then in charge of the case was an old friend of Joran's father Paulus — and sources claim he was overheard agonizing over the case.'""Even Natalee's mother Beth Twitty found evidence of a cover-up. She gave a statement to Police, which she was told had to be typed in Dutch before she signed it. Weeks later she had someone translate the document she had signed — and was shocked to find some things were totally different from what she'd told Police."Significantly, details about her conversations with Joran and the Kalpoes had been changed — to the benefit of the boys."Joran's flight to Holland has only deepened the grief of Natalee's mother, who turned detective to find much of the evidence that put Joran behind bars.Said an insider: "When he was released, Beth cried all night. But she won't give up. She said 'I'm going to make sure Natalee's voice will never be silenced.' "

On 9-17 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to FOX News “In fact, I met with the prosecutor yesterday for about four hours. We discussed the process of the case and where we were going. And you know, kind of a plan of action. I met with the Police today for about four hours and they are just as hungry to resolve this case as we are. They are determined to continue investigating and look at every lead and tip that may come about. In fact, we had received some leads at our helpfindnatalee@comcast.net. During our time without power, we received a lot of tips and leads and I was able to share them with the Police today.” “Well, that is one of the promises that I made the prosecutor was that we would not divulge any information that may damage the case. I made that promise, and I have to stick to it.”
On 9-17 “Aruba Today” wrote,

Kalpoe Lawyer states tape recordings not only illegal, but falsified
Dr. Phil calls for American ban of Aruba
ORANJESTAD - On Thursday afternoon, Arubaans fixated on cable television to their dismay. The mother of the missing teenager Beth Twitty was a guest on the Dr. Phil show. After various interviews of personal points and views of the guests on the show, a man by the name of Jamie Skeeters presented a shocking illegally obtained voice interview with current suspect Deepak Kalpoe.
According to Kalpoe’s Lawyer Rudi Oomen, the tape recording was not only illegally obtained, but edited in a way to make it appear that Deepak answered questions that were not originally asked. This interview clearly was a farce creating an allusion of guilt of the suspect for Dr. Phil’s viewers and guests.
According to Oomen, Skeeters approached Kalpoe in July shortly after Beth Twitty herself had confronted Kalpoe in his place of employment. Twitty attempted to entice Kalpoe in person with a tempting $250,000 if he would just tell her that he “wasn’t involved in a sexual crime against her daughter and that he tried to help her,” according to Twitty.
Kalpoe refuse the financial proposition. After his refusal, Twitty suggested on cable TV a guilty verdict, stating that he didn’t accept her financial reward - therefore he must be guilty.
Skeeters approached Kalpoe as a friend to help him combat the negative publicity that the family of Natalee continued to portray of him.
Skeeters never told Deepak that he was being taped and he personally guaranteed that his conversations with him would be private. “It is obvious after viewing the Dr. Phil show, Skeeters had other intentions.
The interview was fabricated by clearly a cut and paste procedure,” stated Oomen.
After hearing the misleading false confession provided by Skeeters, Beth Twitty and Dr. Phil with his audience were shocked beyond belief and a reasonable doubt. Dr. Phil was so upset that he concluded his show with a ban of Aruba with the following statement. “… It seems like there has to be consequences brought to bear on this Aruban nation, on their tourism industry, on their government officials, on every aspect of what’s going
on. I just can not imagine that the American government or the American people, if they get a full understanding of what is going on down here, are going to sit by and let this happen to an American citizen. Somebody clearly victimized this young woman in some way. How bad we don’t know. We do know this. It does appear that she was in an altered state of consciousness. It does appear that people have had carnal knowledge of her, given information that they could not have had if they didn’t. That alone is actionable, even without knowing the other. And they are not responding to that, and that can’t be Ok with Americans. I can tell you as one American to another - we need to say that! We need to say that’s not ok. We need to tell these people we will never set foot on Aruban soil again until you stand up and do what you have to do for this young woman! You just have to understand that! and if that means writing the State Department, if that means writing the President, if that means writing the Aruban government, they just need to know there’s two hundred and seventy million people over here that are going to forget that you people even exist as a destination, and see how that works for you! If you are not going to treat Americans with dignity and respect, then you are not going to treat them at all. Now that’s my attitude about it and I think that when you start getting into their pockets in that way, then they just may decide where their allegiances lie and do this thing straight up. And I think we need to bring pressure to bear, and on Dr. Phil.com we are going to have every address that you need to just start raising all kinds of noise about this kind of ridiculous treatment of
this precious young woman.”
Oomen concluded that his client could not afford to take legal recourse against Skeeters for his fabrication and defamation.

On 9-17 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "Well, the statements were given by Joran and Deepak. Printed in Dutch and two Aruban attorneys translated for me. In the statements, Joran is the only one admitting to having sex with Natalee. The admission of sex from Deepak in a taped confession to Jamie Skeeters, he admitted to a gang rape of her. That all three had sex with her.”
On 9-17 HAROLD COPUS stated FOX News, “What he said basically is what Beth just mentioned. That they had sex, when they left "Carlos 'N Charlie's" she was very intoxicated almost couldn’t walk. That she wanted to drive the car, but they wouldn’t let her. They drove and went to the lighthouse and then came back to the fishermen huts.” “In Deepak’s words, they all had sex with her.” “This is astounding, because what happened the night after (5-30/31) Natalee disappeared three out of four huts had been broken into. A knife was missing from one, a filet type knife with a steel shank. When I interviewed the fisherman, he said he had forgotten to tell the Police. He called them, they haven’t responded according to him. There was a cage that they use to trap fish. Big enough to put a body in, he said that was missing.” “It tells me that they might have taken Natalee out into the water. You only have to go out about 3/4 of a mile and it drops down to about 40 ft. Strong currents, strong wind”
On 9-17 ARUBAAN's news-source "Amigoe.com" quoted ARUBA “Strategic Communications Task Force” member LESKER as saying “This will blow over,” in response to a question about Aruban tourism and the damage that has been caused by the negative attention of the investigation of NATALEE’s disappearance and investigation.

On 9-18 the BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA “Birmingham News” reported:

Keeping Natalee in the Spotlight
9/18/05 Kathy KempBirmingham NewsBeth Holloway Twitty tends to hug reporters.
She asks about their families and seems to mean it. In interviews, she rarely breaks eye contact and begins every few sentences with the reporter's name, as in, "Dan, it's just been a nightmare," or "You know, Larry, I can't tell you how frustrating this is."
Twitty talks daily by phone with Greta Van Susteren, the Fox News personality who practically moved to Aruba to report the story that has captivated people around the world and turned the grieving mother into a peculiar kind of superstar. Natalee Holloway, Twitty's 18-year-old daughter, disappeared May 30 during a trip to Aruba with fellow recent graduates of Mountain Brook High School. Outside a nightclub there, she got into a car with three young men and hasn't been heard from since.
"I learned pretty quickly that when you're desperately searching for a missing child, the news media is your best friend," says Twitty, who moved back to Mountain Brook last week after three-and-a-half months in Aruba.
"Point me toward a camera and I'll talk. What happens is, it opens doors. Somebody will come forward with information, or tell us another place to look. We're opening one door after another, and one of them will lead us to Natalee."
Throughout the investigation, Twitty has appeared reasonable and dignified, even as three suspects were arrested, released, arrested again and finally re-released this month. The ever-present cameras were there when Twitty calmly marched up to suspect Deepak Kalpoe at his job in an Internet cafe and demanded the truth about her daughter. All Kalpoe could do was stare at the ground.
They followed, too, as she confronted Paulus van der Sloot, father of Joran van der Sloot. Joran is the Dutch national who Twitty says has confessed to the Aruban police that he had sex with Natalee while the Alabama teen was in and out of consciousness. "If that's not a crime, I don't know what is," she says.
The case now appears stalled. But neither terrorist bombings in London nor a killer Gulf Coast hurricane could make the story go away.
"It's all because of Beth," says Jim Moret, chief correspondent for the syndicated television show "Inside Edition." He has interviewed Twitty several times, and flew to Aruba recently just to take her to lunch.
Finding her child:
"People feel like they know Beth now, and they want to hear about the case from her," Moret says. "It's like she's become a part of their family. How many parents do you know who can't identify with a mother who just wants to find her child?"
Twitty's brother, Paul Reynolds, says viewers are drawn to Twitty's honesty and sincerity. "People come up to Beth, wanting to express their sorrow, and she turns it around and starts comforting them," Reynolds says. "She's a very caring, giving person."
The near daily TV appearances that made her famous this summer don't seem to have slowed down. Moret interviewed Twitty last week in Birmingham for a two-part segment that aired Thursday and Friday. Also Thursday, Phil McGraw devoted his entire "Dr. Phil" show to Natalee's disappearance. Twitty flew to Los Angeles to appear on that program and was recognized by strangers on the street.
"People come up and hug me all the time," Twitty says. "I get so much strength from their support. For 22 years I've been a teacher, and I've felt like I was the helpful one, pulling the children along. Now I feel like everybody else is pulling me."
Wednesday evening, less than 24 hours after she moved back to Birmingham, Twitty twice appeared live on cable's MSNBC - first with lawyer and "Abrams Report" host Dan Abrams at 6 p.m., and, nearly three hours later, with anchor Rita Cosby on her program "Rita Cosby: Live and Direct."
For those interviews, Twitty and her husband, Jug, drove to a downtown production studio, where she was hooked up to a satellite feed to Washington and New York. They made the drive twice over the weekend so she could talk to Fox's Geraldo Rivera and to Van Susteren, who Twitty considers a close friend.
"Greta has taught me a lot," Twitty says, sitting cross-legged on the floor of her living room. "Greta's a lawyer, and she's taught me the red flags to look for and the key elements to seek. She's raised my awareness of things that go on in an investigation."
Twitty, a speech pathologist and special education teacher, is on leave from her job at Brookwood Forest Elementary School, thanks to co-workers who've donated enough off days to get Twitty through December. She is not wasting a minute, sleeping just four to six hours a night, and then back to the search for Natalee.
With Joran van der Sloot in college in Holland now, Twitty decided to move her base of operations back to Birmingham. "But I'll be flying back and forth to Aruba," she says. "We are not giving up on Natalee. Until somebody shows me otherwise, I have to believe my daughter's alive."
During her last two weeks on the island, Twitty says, she had started to fear for her own safety as strangers followed her everywhere she went. One man in particular stood out because of the scars on his face.
"I'd be in the laundromat and he'd show up. I'd go to a restaurant, and a minute or two later, he'd be there. I feel like I need to be more cautious now, but they're not going to stop me from looking for Natalee."
Twitty's husband, family members, friends and strangers all talk about her strength. "Beth amazes me," says Jug Twitty, a manager at Phoenix Metals, a diversified metals processor in Birmingham. "I totally admire what she's done."
"Frankly, I never would have anticipated she had this much strength and courage," her brother, a nursing home administrator in Houston, Tex., says. "She had to become stronger, to do this for her daughter."
Partial to jeans:
Physically, Twitty seems fragile, as if a bear hug might do her in. She is tall and thin - down 14 pounds from her normal 134. She's partial to blue jeans and sandals, and bears a striking resemblance to the actress Marg Helgenberger, down to the shoulder-length reddish-blond hair.
In public, Twitty smiles most of the time. Even so, her blue-gray eyes seem haunted by the things she's heard and seen, and by all that she's still looking for.
"Some of the places we've had to go to look for my daughter would make you sick," she says in that now-familiar flat Southern accent. She's talking about the Aruban crack houses, the live-girl shows and the other seedy places she and Jug have gone in the middle of the night when the phone rings with a Natalee sighting.
"We'd get a call about a body on the side of the road, and we'd rush out to see if it was Natalee," Twitty says. "It got to where you'd sleep with your clothes on so you could just get up and run."
The Twittys' life here is vastly different. They live in a split-level brick home off Overton Road, modest by Mountain Brook standards and, until Natalee's disappearance, happily concerned themselves with children, family, friends and church. The couple attends Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church in Cahaba Heights.
On television, Twitty has appeared in the company of an endless assortment of female friends, mostly her age, who appear devoted to both her and Natalee. They answer Twitty's mail, schedule her interviews and step in front of the cameras themselves when Twitty gives the word.
Many of those friends are part of a network that goes back more than a decade. It started with a group of seven male friends from the Birmingham area, including Jug Twitty, who went on hunting trips together. As they married, their wives became part of the "Fabulous Seven," as did their children.
The seven families vacation together, share holidays and weekend dinners and help raise each other's kids. When Beth married into the group five years ago, six couples joined her and Jug on their Mexican honeymoon. And when Natalee disappeared, those same six couples were at their side in Aruba.
"Natalee has seven sets of parents," group member Betsy Koepsel says. "We have 23 kids all together."
With Twitty back home, Koepsel and others, including Twitty's teacher friends, have set up a kind of command post in the home of one of The Seven, Marcie DeBardeleben. Earlier this week, DeBardeleben's former storage room was a beehive of organized activity, as volunteers sorted the tens of thousands of e-mails, letters and keepsakes that have poured in since Natalee's disappearance.
"I found one letter addressed to `Beth Holloway Twitty, U.S.A.,'" Koepsel says. "Or people will write, `Beth Twitty, Alabama,' or "Beth Twitty, Aruba,' and they always find their way to her."
Twitty is determined to answer them all. "I want to respond to everyone who's reached out to me," she says. "Without them, I don't think I could have stood this."
People have sent her CDs with music they recorded especially for Natalee. There are rosary cards, religious statues, hand-made quilts and books about hope. Every day, Twitty picks a tiny cross or angel that a well-wisher has sent and carries it in her pocket. The letters and e-mails are sorted by state, so that she can show them to legislators and congressmen across the country to ask for their support. She is asking Americans to consider not traveling to Aruba until Natalee is found and brought home.
Three-page letters:
Some of the letter-writers tell Twitty of dreams in which they've seen Natalee in a well, or dead in the water. Many letters are three pages or more - from across the U.S. and around the world. Most offer support and prayers to the family, and for those she is especially grateful.
There have been a few e-mails and blog posts accusing Twitty of being a media hound. Her friends and family know her as anything but. "Beth's actually kind of a quiet person, and private," DeBardeleben says.
Bruce Roberts, a friend of Twitty's since their high school days in Pine Bluff, Ark., agrees. "She's never been a flashy person. At school, she was kind of quiet, not a cheerleader or anything like that. Just nice, friendly Beth."
Twitty grew up in the town of 50,000, the daughter of the late Paul Reynolds, an entrepreneur and nursing home owner, and Ann Reynolds, who worked for a savings and loan company. The family attended the small Methodist church across the street from their home and spent summers at their Hot Springs lake house swimming, boating and skiing.
Twitty, at 45, is the youngest of the three Reynolds children. Her other brother, John, 49, the middle child, is an entrepreneur in Arkansas, where their mother still lives. Twitty earned a master's degree in speech pathology at Arkansas State University and married her college sweetheart, Dave Holloway, the father of Natalee and her younger brother, Matt, who lives with his mother and stepfather.
Beth and Dave settled in Jackson, Miss., but eventually divorced. They continued to live in the same neighborhood until Beth remarried and moved to Mountain Brook in 2000. Holloway, with his wife, Robin, and their two kids, moved to Meridian, Miss., where he runs a State Farm Insurance agency.
Holloway says Beth never sought the media attention. Rather, it came to her and latched on. "My opinion is, there was just no other news to come across that day. And some TV executive decided, let's go on vacation in Aruba," Holloway says.
The media has remained focused on his ex-wife, Holloway says, because she's the one who was able to stay in Aruba all summer and keep the story going. "Beth's a schoolteacher, so she was off all summer, but I had to come back and go to work," Holloway says.
"When reporters call, I try to accommodate them. But I'm not near a major news center, so they have to send a truck to get me on camera. So there's that extra cost involved." People who know Twitty say the soft-spoken, down-to-earth mom seen on TV is exactly who Twitty is. "She adores children," says Carol Standifer, who, in her former job as special education director for Mountain Brook schools, hired Twitty for her current job. "I was with her in Aruba, and I can honestly say that Beth was at her most relaxed when she was handing out Natalee bracelets to schoolchildren."
While away, Twitty says, she worried about Matt, who just turned 17. "Now that I'm home, I see that Matt's fine and I don't worry anymore. Every mother in Mountain Brook was looking after him."
Matt pulls up to their house in his new Toyota Tundra and comes in to hug his mother. When he smiles, his braces show. Matt's approach to Natalee's disappearance is different from his parents'. "I try not to think about it," he says, then heads off to his room.
Natalee's bedroom is off limits to reporters. "I don't think she'd like people looking at her things," Twitty says. Natalee's favorite movie is "The Wizard of Oz," and she has a collection of Oz-related items. A favorite line from the movie now has special meaning for the family: As young Dorothy acknowledged, "There's no place like home."
Mother and daughter were very close, the result, Twitty says, of her long tenure as a single mom. The two loved to shop.
Twitty says she plans to start a foundation one day in Natalee's honor, using money left over from donations for the search. Those donations, in an Amsouth Bank account, have helped fund the family's stay in Aruba and paid for lawyers and investigators they've hired. Twitty says she has no idea how much money has been collected, though a fund-raising auction of Hollywood-related items, donated by Mountain Brook native Courteney Cox, raised more than $110,000. A $1 million reward for the safe return of Natalee was funded by private sources.
"I couldn't live with myself if something good doesn't come out of this," Twitty says. She is firm in her belief that she's done all she can to find Natalee. "No second guesses whatsoever," she says. Twitty is less sure about things she might have done before Natalee's disappearance.
"I think anybody, under these circumstances, would wonder whether you could have said or done something more. But none of that matters now."
Twitty maintains a quiet dignity, even as she finds it hard to sit still. "I feel like I need to be doing something all the time," she says. "I don't feel like I can slow down."
She credits God for her strength and talks about her faith with her supporters, including old friend Bruce Roberts in Arkansas. He recently organized a prayer service in Pine Bluff to honor Natalee and was surprised when Twitty took time to attend.
"I said to her, Beth, you're a hero," Roberts recalls. "She said, `No, I'm just a mom.'"

BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News on 9-18 that Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE knew he was being recorded by SKEETERS when KALPOE called NATALEE a “slut,” etc. (the audio recording was played on 9-15 on NBC).
On 9-18 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "September 1st at 1pm I received a phone call from my attorney, and from the prosecuting attorney information was coming out of those interrogations. On September 1st, these young men had divided. They were not denying a crime anymore. The interrogations were unfolding, things were really moving along.”
On 9-18 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "I think that all three of them including the father are sociopaths. I think it is just more evident to the world. In Aruba they need to realize that the world has been keeping up with the details of this investigation. I think that all the facts are coming through loud and clear that we do have evidence and it should warrant the re-arrest of all of these suspects.”

9-19-05
On 9-19 ARUBAN Police Commissioner STANLEY ZAANDAM was quoted in the ARUBAAN's news-source “Bon Dia” stating, "the body of Natalee Holloway may have already been found and CVP (Police Commissioner) looked the other way to do a favor for Paul van der Sloot. To exculpate the son of Paul, the CVP and fiscal Chief Prosecutor Karin Janssen made the false arrest of two ex-security guards, Jones and John, called this a ‘tactical maneuver’ and denied them their freedom another 10 days."

On 9-19 ARUBAAN's news-source "Bon Dia" wrote about DAVE HOLLOWAY, “‘I am here to meet with the prosecution to see if they are still on track, and to assure the Police Corps I am still with them, that I am still supportive of them and of the people of the island, because it is only with the help of Aruba that we can eventually solve this case.’” Dave Holloway has not used the word “corruption” to describe ARUBAN authorities or Investigators during the investigation. He believes that in the beginning the ARUBAN Police were ‘on the wrong track.’ ’But obviously you get behind. It has been three and half months and Natalee still has not been found. But I am a very patient man.’” He distanced himself from the ‘Dr. Phil’ show, and said that he believes that every American who watched that show will eventually make their own conclusions. ‘I can’t talk for others. I don’t see why 100,000 people should be penalized for the actions of possibly three or more individuals who are not even from this island.’”
On 9-19, when asked if “Excelsior Casino” owner POSNER had threatened BETH, she told MSNBC, “Well, there was a phone call made. And it was just really having me refer to—you know, I’d only mentioned the fact I had gotten from prosecuting attorney as far as the open line of credit, and that Joran is in his casino gambling, and I don’t think there was ever a question that Joran and Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT had been in that Excelsior Casino, and, particularly, on the night of the 29th where he and his father met Natalee.” (also recall that BETH moved out of the “Holiday Inn”--where the “Excelsior” is--to the “Wyndham” because JUG TWITTY was concerned about BETH’s safety staying in the “Holiday Inn”)

On 9-20 DAVE HOLLOWAY left ARUBA left ARUBA to return to the UNITED STATES. DAVE wrote in his book, “Aruba,” (page 161 of pre-publication copy):

On Tuesday, September 20, 2005, Melvin and I boarded a jet for home. During our takeoff, we were flying over the island and we noticed there was aggressive digging activity occurring at the landfill in the same area where we had previously conducted a search for Natalee. We saw that a large crane backhoe was digging and piling up garbage at the site. Several large piles had already been dug up. This seemed very unusual, as we had spent a week at the landfill in late July and early August, and the activity of the garbage disposal workers was just the use of bulldoziers covering up garbage, rather than digging it up. I was shocked to see the activity there. I notified the authorities in an effort to have them investigate. Apparently, they were just moving things around.

**NOTE** In not one of the many times filmed and photographed landscapes and aerial views (including films and photos taken before NATALEE vanished) of the ARUBA garbage landfill was there ever another backhoe crane seen other than the one DAVE used to search for NATALEE's remains.
**NOTE** then-and-current-ARUBAN Minister of Health CANDELARIA “Booshi” WEVER was responsible for the ARUBA garbage landfill when NATALEE vanished, during DAVE's searching in there, and when DAVE flew over it on 9-20-05.... Is BOOSHI WEVER related to Current Murder Suspect GUIDO WEVER and/or lawyer and "Aruban Strategic Communications Task Force" member ARLENE ELLIS-SCHIPPER?
If the ARUBAAN's already had a backhoe available at the dump that DAVE and MEL saw on 9-20-05 digging, why was it never used to help during the searches there?

On 9-20 “Blogcritics.org” wrote, “But this past week, the main suspect, Joran van der Sloot, will be starting college in the Netherlands.”
On 9-20 ARUBAAN's news-source "Diario" wrote, “Monday afternoon [9-19], DIARIO received a call from a Chilean lady in Boston.” (2nd paragraph...cant translate)“The day hurricane Katrina hit the US, the lady, who lives in Boston was talking with her sister in Chile. For one reason or another, the telephone lines crossed and all of a sudden she was listening in to an American man speaking to another. One of the men was telling the other that he was recently in Bogota, Colombia, that he went to a brothel and a young woman working there looked very shy, and he thinks it was Natalee Holloway. His friend asked if he was sure, and his friend then said that he was quite certain that it was Natalee Holloway. Her hair was tinted black, and she was wearing a lot of makeup on her face. The friend asked if he was going to tell the F.B.I. or someone else so that something is done, but the man said he works in Washington, and for fear that his family finds out the place he frequented, he won't risk saying something about the matter. The Chilean lady tells DAIRIO that from what she could gather from the conversation, the establishment is one that highly placed men frequent, like senators and big businessmen.During the conversation, she also heard that one of the men thinks that perhaps the father of the Dutch youngster is involved in the Colombian prostitution business.According to the Chilean lady, different international media published the Joran van der Sloot story and that his father traveled to Colombia frequently and she asked herself why he would.”

On 9-23 “Aruba Today” wrote, “Yesterday, a search team continued diving for missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. The divers, supervised by Prosecutor Karin Jansen together with lawyers Vinda de Zouza and Mr. Mohamed retained by the teen’s father Dave Holloway, searched the coast line of the Northwest shore behind the California Lighthouse. The area in question was a deep cavern where diver Gino Wauben and his team searched the caves. The waves were crashing into the rocky coastline where strong currents pushed the divers into the cavern. This was a very dangerous situation as the divers were tossed by the treacherous waters into the rocky coastline. The search did not provide any new evidence in the investigation of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.”

On 9-23 ARUBAAN's voted in their national elections, including Prime Minister, which ODUBER campaigned for reelection to. On 9-24 the “AP” reported, “Aruba’s ruling party kept its majority in parliament in legislative elections for all 21 seats, election board officials reported on Saturday. Prime Minister Nelson Oduber’s People’s Electoral Movement party won 43 percent of the vote and won 11 seats in Friday’s parliamentary election, while the main opposition Aruban People’s Party won 33 percent and now has eight seats in parliament.”
On 9-23 the “National Enquirer” reported:

JORAN: TARGETED FOR DEATHBy DAVID WRIGHTPolice on two continents have been alerted to a plot to kill Joran van der Sloot and two other prime suspects in the case of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.Authorities in Aruba, where Natalee vanished nearly four months ago, have warned cops in Holland that there's a price on Joran's head.Dutch-born Joran, 18, flew there after being released from prison to attend Arnhem Business School."There are angry people both in the U.S. and in Aruba who want him and his friends Deepak and Satish Kalpoe dead," a source told The National Enquirer."Many in America believe the trio have escaped justice in Natalee's murder. Some Arubaans are angry that Joran and the Kalpoes have brought so much negative attention to their island.Officials have been told bluntly: 'They were better off in jail.' "The threat was already obvious an hour before Joran and the Kalpoes were released from prison. A National Enquirer reporter on the scene watched a worried security detail sweep a house overlooking the prison for weapons."There have been warnings about mercenaries who are prepared to kill them, and violent people just waiting for the right moment," said the source. "I wouldn't even be surprised if Joran's mother or brother were kidnapped — his enemies might figure it's the only way to get Joran to talk."Arnhem police spokesman Gohan Rongen acknowledged that they were aware of Joran's presence there. Asked about death threats, he said: "I can't give you any information."

On 9-25 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "Well, when I hear that the search is continuing for Natalee of course that is something that Jug and her father and I so desperately hope continues. One thing that really concerns me though is the statements that they have from Joran and also there has been a taped confession from Deepak, and they are clearly stating how Natalee is coming in and out of consciousness. Joran has already admitted to having sex with Natalee at his home at 1:40 am. Why, though, they were not brought charges against for rape I just don’t understand.” When BETH was asked about the recent “A Current Affair” interview of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , she said “It is typical of Joran, and it is so ironic when you listen to his video tape. He is not to blame for anything. He is placing the blame on the tourism, that they say it is down in Aruba and he is placing that on me. He is placing, as far as Natalee being drunk, he has even admitted during this interview that he buys her the shot that he buys her the drink, and he is blaming her for being drunk. It is like he does not accept responsibility for anything that has gone on when he is the one who is completely responsible for this. He is the reason why Aruba, that the tourism is down.” When asked about people traveling to ARUBA, BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated "What I am asking for is for the millions of people who have supported me through their thoughts and prayers through emails through cards and letters to please consider refraining from traveling to Aruba and other Dutch Kingdom territories until Natalee is returned to me, because they CAN make this happen! The answers are there, we have the three individuals, three suspects including Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT that have the answers to what happened and where Natalee is.” “I feel that Joran should be brought back for charges to be filed against him for kidnapping and rape. I think it has become crystal clear exactly what he has done to Natalee. Whether they went ahead and murdered her after a gang rape I don’t know that but Deepak has admitted in a taped confession to Jamie Skeeters that they all had sex with Natalee and Joran clearly has Natalee coming in and out of consciousness. If that does not constitute gang rape then I don’t know what does.” BETH also said she will be returning to ARUBA within 2 weeks.

9-26-05
On 9-26 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to “A Current Affair” journalist GARY WAGSCHAL while being filmed near ARNHEM, HOLLAND:
****NOTE: During this interview, not one time did Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT say he was “innocent.”
WAGSCHAL: I know you are a smart kid. We know you are an honor student. You are athletic. I am very glad I didn’t have to chase you because…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, there is no use to start running or anything like that, since you guys are here anyway. But, I just wanted to say that I do feel bad for Natalee’s mother, if Natalee is really missing, if something bad happened to her. But yeah, I just want to say that I don’t like the way people are going around with this case. I don’t like the media attention. And, I don’t like that people start boycotting Aruba, because Aruba is a beautiful island and I love it. I lived there my whole life, and just makes me feel bad that so many people have to suffer now, because of one person missing.
WAGSCHAL: What was the last.. I know you had a little relationship with her a bit, right?. So, what would you... how would you describe her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, when I talked to her she was very nice. And yeah, that is all I have to say.
WAGSCHAL: What were your feelings towards her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I didn’t have any feelings towards her, because I met her that night. I didn’t know her before that.
WAGSCHAL: Ok, because I think she talked to some people, and I think she said, you guys had been going out a little bit before.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, we had not gone out before at all.
WAGSCHAL: So, can you help us understand ‘cause I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, I mean you seem to be a guy who is smart and who knows what he is doing. So, can you understand why it seems you have not been forthcoming with the Police?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I just hope that people leave me alone and I can live my life like a normal person. That is all I am hoping for. I know me and my friends lied. And I am really sorry for that. I feel horrible for that, I really do, but, I mean, I can’t take it back now. It is too late for that. But, I just want everybody to know that I did not harm Natalee in any way. And yeah, I just hope she is fine, I hope she is ok. And, I hope sooner or later, her family finds her.
WAGSCHAL: But, why did you lie that first time?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I lied basically, because I was scared. And that is the truth.
WAGSCHAL: Right, you lied because you were scared.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, because I didn’t want to admit to leaving her alone at the beach.
WAGSCHAL: And, what was going through your mind at that time?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, at that time, I don’t know. I was there. She didn’t want to come back to the hotel. I had school the next day. I told her I had to leave. And she didn’t want to listen, so, basically, I thought, "Ok, then, if you want to stay here, then you stay here." And that is the truth.
WAGSCHAL: And that is the last thing that happened?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, that is the last thing.
WAGSCHAL: And, what was the last thing that she said to you?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : She didn’t say any last thing to me. The last thing that I said to her is, "Bye."
WAGSCHAL: You said, "Bye?"
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah.
WAGSCHAL: What about the other two guys? What did the Kalpoe brothers…?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : The other two guys dropped me off there, and from everything I know, they don’t know anything else. And I feel very sorry they got into this mess too. Because, somehow, I feel that it is my fault.
WAGSCHAL: The things about the beach obviously, you are three big guys. Do you have a sister?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I do not have a sister. I have two brothers.
WAGSCHAL: You have two brothers. So you have little ones. And you are the big one?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I am the oldest.
WAGSCHAL: Ok, so the oldest one usually has to be the most responsible one.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes
WAGSCHAL: I am the oldest too. How did you feel? She is a young girl. You are from Aruba. You were already there. You are the guy that knows everything about Aruba.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, first of all, she was 18 and I was 17, at the time. I know that does not say much. Because, I feel older. But, at the time, it didn’t seem like a bad thing. I mean, it didn’t seem bad. Now, I regret it, of course. I will probably regret it for the rest of my life. But, there is nothing I can do about it now. I can’t change time. I just want to go on with my life and I hope people let me go on with my life.
WAGSCHAL: I think they will, but I think the problem is, you have to understand, you are... you don’t have a child yet, but the mother, I mean, the Beth Holloway.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I do understand completely for her, and I feel horrible for her, but, what I don’t respect is her going on TV and boycotting Aruba. It makes no sense.
WAGSCHAL: But, she is going through so much personal pain. I mean the thing is, the problem is, she doesn't know what happened to her daughter.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, and neither do I. So, what more do you want me to do? I told the truth. I know she knows the truth. And, I know she read most of the statements in the case and, yes, that is all.
WAGSCHAL: What is your theory of the case?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t have a theory, because I am not going to speculate what other people are doing, because all that people are doing is speculating. No one knows anything. For what everybody knows, she is a missing person. And I hope to God she is alive and I hope to God they find her.
WAGSCHAL: You are going to be doing something.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, I don’t blame her at all for what she is doing. I don’t blame her at all. But, during the period I was in jail, I wanted to talk to her, I was willing to talk to her. My lawyer told me it wasn't the best thing to do, because she can say, I told her anything. And yeah, so, I didn’t talk to her. And now, I don’t feel like talking to her at all, because look at what she is doing to a beautiful island with a hundred thousand people on it that rely on tourism and she's boycotting an island that can have consequences for one hundred thousand people. Which, for me, it makes no sense at all.
WAGSCHAL: What are your plans now? What are you trying to do?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I am studying business at the school here. Right now, I have to be getting to class, but, and I just plan to, at least, finish my first year and see how it goes.
WAGSCHAL: Do you have a girlfriend here?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, I do not have girlfriend here.
WAGSCHAL: What are you planning to do with your life?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I plan to continue my life normally. I want to study sports management in the States. Obviously, that is not a good option now, the States. This case has been so blown up in the States, it is ridiculous. And, I just hope I can go on with my life. Let's see how things go. Hope the case gets solved. And, if it gets solved, then everything will be fine. I can go on with my life. I can even go continue my study in the States. I can do anything I want.
WAGSCHAL: Are you afraid? I mean, some people in the States are pretty upset with you, because they feel you are concealing something and a girl is missing.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I am not afraid. Afraid is a bad statement to use. I just don’t.... I understand from people, "You lied, you must be hiding something." But, I am not hiding anything, but, I know only time will tell that. Then the truth will come out.
WAGSCHAL: And, I mean, what are, is, your worst nightmare in this situation?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : My worst nightmare is, of course, is, if something bad happened to Natalee, everyone might think that I did it, maybe Deepak or Satish did it, and I feel that is what scares me a lot. That is the only thing that I am scared about.
WAGSCHAL: But, I mean the thing is for me... imagine you are involved in this completely, so, I mean, obviously it is very difficult for you to try and be objective. But, imagine seeing it from another person's perspective.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Oh, I have tried to see it from another person's perspective a hundred thousand times. I have tried to see it from an American point of view. I tried to see it from Natalee’s parents' point of view. I understand it for them. I really do. What they are doing, but it makes no sense to boycott an island that relies on tourism.
WAGSCHAL: I mean, I know you were 17 and she was 18, but she is a girl and you are a guy. The three big guys get into a car with a girl from high school and she disappears. She is never seen again. Obviously, people are going to be pointing their finger at you.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : And, I don’t blame them. I don’t blame them.
WAGSCHAL: So, I mean what do you say to that?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t have anything to say to the people. I am just happy that so many people have supported me through this. I have not lost a single friend. I have also got so many support from so many Americans, which I didn’t expect. I am still getting letters, every week, from people that support me. And I am happy that there are a lot of good people in the world that do believe in me and that nothing bad happened.
WAGSCHAL: What do you feel in your heart?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : In my heart, I feel bad, of course, because myself, I don’t know what happened and that bothers me a lot. And I just hope that everything comes out and I can have rest, too. I can sleep better at night also.
WAGSCHAL: So are you afraid of going back to prison?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I mean, the three months I was in there, it was hard. It wasn’t fun at all, of course. But, I mean, I tried to make the best of it. I always kept my head up and I knew that I was innocent, so I knew that they would have to let me go. The other thing I don't respect, at all, is how people criticize my dad. The real thing is, because no one can make sense of the situation, they start pointing fingers all around and all of the evidence shows that nothing bad happened. There is not one tiny bit of evidence that points to us. They even tested my DNA and Satish and Deepak’s DNA, against the judge's orders, and they even found out that it wasn’t our DNA that was on Natalee’s toothbrush and I would like to know who’s DNA that was. I’d for them to maybe look at the kids that were in her group. The kids that came with her. I think that it is important not to have tunnel vision and not to point fingers at one person. But, to take the case and look in other directions.
WAGSCHAL: Now, for this grieving mother, all of America is going to watch this, because you are talking frankly for one of the first times…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah, I don’t want to be talking right now, but it doesn't have much use to run away from you guys. And …
WAGSCHAL: What do you have to say, because a lot of people are going to be listening to what you have to say. They are going to try to understand what you have to say to her mother.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : That is the point no one understands. No one understands and I am just happy my family supported me through this. My friends supported me through this. And, I still have so many people that love me.
WAGSCHAL: What do you have to say to Beth Holloway?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t have anything to say to Beth, not one thing at all.
WAGSCHAL: What are your memories of Natalee like?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t really have that many memories. I mean, I knew her for one night. I feel stupid…I feel horrible that I even went out that night without my father knowing. I should've just stayed home and this would not have happened to me. It would've happened to another person. I try to look at it, that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe even with the wrong people. And I just hope that the truth comes out. That this comes to some clarity in this case.
WAGSCHAL: But do you understand I mean how can a girl just disappear?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t know. I think that is the million dollar question now.
WAGSCHAL: I mean what happened that night? Why don’t you tell me what happened, just a little bit?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : First of all, it is none of your business what happened. That is an investigation, which is still going on. And I just again, I am saying, I hope she is okay. I hope she is fine. And, I hope her parents find her.
WAGSCHAL: What happened down at the beach?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : That is none of your business. That is part of the investigation.
WAGSCHAL: Ok. Have you had other girlfriends before?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, I have had other girlfriends before.
WAGSCHAL: And were you seeing anybody when you were with her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, I was seeing someone when I was with her.
WAGSCHAL: So was that…were you cheating on this other person with her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, I cheated on this other person with her.
WAGSCHAL: So, what happened as a result of that?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, obviously, she still supported me and we are still friends. And she came to visit me and she is a very nice person. I just…,of course, we broke up, of course, it….cause what I did was wrong.
WAGSCHAL: You mean, because you cheated with Natalee?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes.
WAGSCHAL: And, because you got into a lot of trouble?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : And I got into a lot of trouble.
WAGSCHAL: If you can could do it over again what would you do?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I would've just stayed home that night. I would not even had gone out. It was Natalee, who asked me to go out with her. It was her that asked me to come to the club. It was her that was yelling at me to go dance with her. And I said…and I went to go drink something with my friends. It was her that wanted to come with us. I mean, I don’t understand it myself. I don’t…yeah.
WAGSCHAL: I mean, are you that irresistible? Is that is…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, I don’t know. That is absolutely not what it is about. I don’t know. When her parents showed up at my door with her picture I didn’t even know who Natalee Holloway was. I didn’t even know her name.
WAGSCHAL: How can you not know her name, if you saw her the night before?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I saw her the night before, but it was not like I had a conversation with her for 3 hours. I mean we barely talked. She told me a couple of things about herself, where she was going to school. Where she was from. She told me a couple of things about her family that I thought was really strange. And that was about it.
WAGSCHAL: What did she tell you? That you can remember.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : She told me a lot of things. One thing she told me was that her mother was Hitler’s sister's daughter. I don’t know what she was talking, a lot of strange things. She told me she wanted to go to the light house and see sharks, which we never went to. But, I don’t know, she talked a lot of things. Obviously, she was drunk. I had stuff to drink too. Now, I don’t respect that the Aruban authority tried to pin that it was a rape case. She wanted to go with me. I wanted to go with her. It was totally consensual. I had something to drink. She had something to drink. And, I just don’t think it is fair that people…that they even held me three months, because, the fact is, that in the United States they would not even... they never would've even been allowed to arrest me. The Dutch system works in the way that, if…you can be arrested on suspicion. In the United States, you need hard evidence. There is not one evidence in this case that shows something bad happened. I have never touched a girl in an aggressive way in my life. There is not one girl that went forward and said otherwise. And, I only have good declarations in my name, so.
WAGSCHAL: But, I mean, I know you have don’t have a record, and I know that a lot of what you are saying appears to be true, but, I mean, essentially I see as if you are saying like you didn’t have anything to do with it. "She wanted to be with me she wanted to come out with us…"
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : That is truth.
WAGSCHAL: It is all her.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I am not saying its all her…I liked her. I thought she was very attractive and I went out with her. And that is how it went. We even stopped on our way outside of Carlos and Charlie's... we stopped. She said that one of her friends yelled to her to get out of the car. She wanted to stay in the car. Deepak even stopped and allowed her if she wanted to get out. She said "No." And she stayed with us in the car. It was totally her choice.
WAGSCHAL: Right, but you guys are gentlemen. You don’t have a record…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, we don’t have any Police record.
WAGSCHAL: They (the Kalpoes) don’t have any record, either. So, I mean, how again can I ask you the same thing. You seem to be…I know you are a bright young guy, I know you are an older brother to somebody else, right? You explained that to me. How do you leave a girl on the beach?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Very irresponsible, I know, and that is the one thing I would like to take back. But, at the time, it just did not seem wrong.
WAGSCHAL: And the other thing is that is a little strange. There is nothing left. I mean, also her… there is no evidence. There is no body.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t know what happened. I don’t know where she is. And…
WAGSCHAL: Where do you think she is?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I told you, I am not going to speculate what. That is all other people have been doing is speculating and there has been so much bullshit that people have talked on TV, and people have come forward and said things that make no sense and things that… It is just sad what some people do.
WAGSCHAL: But, I mean you are from the island. You are not some guy who is a tourist, who does not know what is going on. So when I asked you what happened to her, I am not asking some guy that does not know anything. I am asking some guy that is from Aruba.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : That is why, in the beginning, I thought she ran away with someone on the island. She ran away with a beach bum. I don’t know. Someone on the island that she might have met before. That was my first reaction. And yeah, and afterwards, that is what we talked about to the Police, and the Police even agreed with me, and I just feel bad. I really don’t know.
WAGSCHAL: So, what else can you say to try and tell Americans about your positions, about what you are doing and your feelings towards this whole thing?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I think it is sad. I really think it is absolutely sad. Sad, in a sense that I feel bad for Natalee’s parents, and sad in a sense about what people are doing and are treating this case, talking about cover-ups and scandals. The other day, I saw something on the news that said that me and my dad had a credit line in the casino. People talk about things that make absolutely no sense. And it is really sad.
WAGSCHAL: Anything you want to ask? What about…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t know, that is probably all speculations too. I heard stories that she was in Venezuela, sold into slavery or sex slavery. I don’t know. People are just trying to make up stories to find out what happened. And it is all sad.
WAGSCHAL: But, you are the last guy that was with her. I mean, there is….
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I was the last guy who admitted to being with her, but ok.
WAGSCHAL: Ok, the last guy that was seen with her. I am going to put it to you that way. You guys were the last guys with her. If you guys had been a little bit more forthcoming… You are talking to me like you are kind of like a victim, in a way.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No, I am not a victim at all. I am not a victim at all. I said, I think it is sad, what the press is doing. But, I am not a victim at all. I know what I did was wrong, and for lying, I probably deserve to be in that jail for three months. But, I did not do anything against the law and they have to let you go. They have to let me get on with my life. And, I hope you guys let me get on with my life too.
WAGSCHAL: Well, I think if you can explain to people what really happened, and you were really forthcoming, the more forthcoming you are, the more chance there will be for you to get on with your life.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : One day, I will explain exactly what happened, but, right now, I don’t feel ready to do that.
WAGSCHAL: Right. Can you just explain to me any other thoughts? What about her… what was she like with you that night in a romantic way, I mean, how can you describe what she was like as a girl?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t really know what to say, she was very nice. She was kind, and I feel horrible, because she asked me to stay with her there and look at the stars, and I told her, I had to go to school, I had to go home, and I feel horrible about that.
WAGSCHAL: So, what happened? You guys just got into the car and left then?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I just went home, yes.
WAGSCHAL: You left. And then, a girl was just standing there on the beach. I mean, what is the deal?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah, basically.
WAGSCHAL: How drunk was she?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : She had a lot to drink. At Carlos and Charlie's, she grabbed my hand for me to take jelly shots off of her. And afterwards, she asked me to buy a shot for her, buy her something to drink, which I did. And, that is all I saw that she drank. I didn’t see her drink anything else. But from the day…earlier, when I was with her friends at the Excelsior Casino at the "Holiday Inn," the whole group was already drinking from five in the afternoon. And I didn’t really see her at that moment. I didn’t really notice her at that moment. But, I guess they came here to have a good time and to celebrate. And to throw their graduation also. And they might have all gone a little too far.
WAGSCHAL: What do you mean jelly shots with her. Off of her body?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah.
WAGSCHAL: How does that work?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t know. I never did it myself before. She grabbed my hand and took me with her and asked me if I wanted to take jelly shots off of her.
WAGSCHAL: How does it work?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT: And she climbed on the bar. She laid down on the bar and she called over the bartender by name and he got a jelly shot for her and I took a jelly shot off of her.
WAGSCHAL: I don’t understand. Is it on her belly?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : On her belly, yes.
WAGSCHAL: On her belly button?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes.
WAGSCHAL: And then, what do you do?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : And then, you basically lick it off.
WAGSCHAL: How attractive did you think she was?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I thought that she was attractive.
WAGSCHAL: What kind of feelings did you have for her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I didn’t have any feelings for her, because I did not know her at all. I just…the feelings that I had for her were because she was attractive.
WAGSCHAL: So you were hot for her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I wouldn’t say that. I just thought she was attractive. I thought she was very outgoing, and that she came to me. She was the one that talked to me. She asked for me to dance with her, which I didn't even do. And she wanted to come with us. And, it was probably a bad choice. We probably should have told her she had to get out of the car when her friend told her she had to get out of the car and then nothing would've happened.
WAGSCHAL: What about the two brothers. Are they friends of yours?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Deepak and Satish, they were probably two of my best friends. Right now, at this moment, I am not even talking to them anymore. We are not friends anymore, because all of this happened. And...
WAGSCHAL: Why is that?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, because, obviously, all of us lied. We agreed to lie. I was the first one that changed my story. I don’t think they liked that, so they changed their story. And it, eventually everything went towards the truth. But, obviously, bad things were said about each other. And, it just hurts me that our friendship had to break up because of that.
WAGSCHAL: Are you covering for them?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I am not covering for them at all. And, I would not cover for them in such a big case with so many people got involved. My dad got arrested, which is absol5tely ridiculous. I feel horrible, too, for Steve in Aruba, the DJ from "Tattoo", because all he was trying to do was really help Deepak, like, providing us an alibi. I feel bad for him that he got arrested. I also think that it is ridiculous that my best friend, Freddy Zedan got arrested. I think it is for taking a picture of a girl in a bikini. It is really sad.
WAGSCHAL: Do you have any other thoughts in terms of what Americans…again, people still think you are hiding a lot. I mean, even right now, I am asking you to tell me what happened and you are not really…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : People can think all they want. That really does not bother me. I am just happy that there are people that do use their head and do believe in me.
WAGSCHAL: When you left her that night and what kind of expression did she have on her face?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t know. I really don’t know what kind of expression she had on her face. I don’t even know what you mean with the question.
WAGSCHAL: What I mean is, you left her, right? Was she standing? Was she lying on the beach? What? When you left her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : When she came with me she was sitting at the beach.
WAGSCHAL: When you said you had to study. You had to go back go to school.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I had school the next day. And I did go to school the next day. And I did go to school the day after. And it's just I had to go home, I had to go to sleep. Yeah, when I got home, I went on the Internet. I talked to Deepak for a while. So, the Police could see exactly what time I got home. They can see it's obvious, if someone were to read the thing, it is almost impossible that a crime was committed.
WAGSCHAL: But, when you left her on the beach, she was sitting on the sand?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah
WAGSCHAL: Which way was she facing? Was she facing towards the ocean?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : She was facing towards the ocean. And before that, I had been laying with her at the beach. And she was facing towards the ocean when I left her.
WAGSCHAL: You were laying on the beach like how? Cuddling on the beach?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah, cuddling.
WAGSCHAL: And then what happened? You said I have got to go home, because I have to get up for class tomorrow?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Uh... I told her I had to go home. I had school the next day, and I thought, maybe she'd understand. She told me, "No,." she wanted me to stay there with her. Because, the next day she was leaving. She wanted to stay there the whole night. I told her, "No," I had to go. I even lifted her up to carry her back to her hotel. And she told me, put her down. I left her there. I sat down and I started talking to her for a while. And I called Deepak, to ask him if he could come and pick me up, which Deepak didn’t do. but…
WAGSCHAL: was she angry?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : She wasn't ... she wasn't angry. If anything she was probably more.. I don't know... upset that I was leaving her there. And, I don't know what reaction she had. I don't know
WAGSCHAL: How did you feel when you left her?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, at the time, I didn’t... I didn't feel it was a bad idea. At the time, I really didn’t. It didn’t seem wrong. It didn't seem... Of course, now I look back at it and I think, "Damn, I was... I'm an asshole. What did I do?" But, there is nothing I can do now. If I could have the moment back, I would make sure that she got back to her hotel safely. But, I can't change that now.
WAGSCHAL: Ok. What is the worst thing you think you have done since this all started?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT: The worst thing I did was leaving her there at the beach. That is the worst thing, possible thing, I could've done and then lie about it to try and make myself not look bad I guess.
WAGSCHAL: And why did you do that?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I didn’t really think something bad happened to her and I don’t think anyone in Aruba did. It is the truth. Tourists come to Aruba to have a good time and sometimes they don’t show up for a night or two and then they come back to their hotel. I thought that was the case. The local Police thought that probably also thought that was the case. And, I just always hoped that she would just show up. And that is, yeah.
WAGSCHAL: What went through your mind when she didn’t show up?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, when she didn’t show up for the first couple of days, I was like, "Ok, but, you know, maybe, she's still with someone else." Then, after a while, cause there was 7 days, in between, when we gave our first witness statement and we were arrested, and I was just thinking I thought about going to the Police and telling them the truth. But, I really couldn't, because I'd lied to everybody. I lied to my parents, I lied to my friends and...
WAGSCHAL: So, you are saying that lying was your worst crime?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yeah.
WAGSCHAL: Now, lying is a crime isn’t it? When you interfere with a Police investigation?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Lying.. I don’t think lying is a crime. Lying is probably not ethical, but it is not a crime.
WAGSCHAL: If you interfere with a Police investigation?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : If you interfere with a Police investigation it is still not a crime.
WAGSCHAL: Maybe here in Holland? You are saying you admit that you are a liar that night. You admit that you lied and I think…. some people say that, I mean, you are admitting that you are lying, but you are doing a lot more than that. you have done worse things than that.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : And, I would like for someone to come up and tell me if there is anything worse I did, because, I have never touched a girl in an aggressive way in my life. Never, and there is no one that can come forward and say otherwise. And yeah, I just feel bad for everything that happened. I feel bad for Natalee’s family. I feel bad for my family. I feel bad for Deepak and Satish’s family. And I feel bad for everyone that has suffered because of all of this.
WAGSCHAL: Since you are coming forward now to some degree, did you have sex with her that night?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : First of all, that is none of your business.
WAGSCHAL: It is just a question.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : But, it is absolutely none of your business.
WAGSCHAL: Did anything else happened that night?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No. Well, yes, I kissed with her. but., neither did Deepak or Satish ever had sex with her and no one ever said otherwise. I saw a tape from Deepak on TV saying something, which makes absolutely no sense. I think that tape was edited. I think people cut and pasted these pieces. I am sure about that, cause it didn’t even sound like Deepak’s voice. But, not me, not Deepak or Satish had sex with her and that is in all the documents. And none of us had ever said anything like that. and yeah I just think it is sad how Natalee’s mom comes forward and starts saying things against us that don’t make sense and are not true.
WAGSCHAL: I mean you seem to be fairly concerned about this, but I am just wondering the emotions. What people’s impression is going to be of you, in terms of….
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, that is what I think it maybe one of the good points about me; I really don’t care what people think about me.
WAGSCHAL: But, you don’t want to give people the impression that you are calloused.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I don’t want to give the impression that I am…
WAGSCHAL: You are not a father.
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : I know, and I understand that, for her father. And I understand from my father and I just feel bad because of everything that happened. And, I don’t want people to think that I am a person without feelings, person without anything, because I did suffer a lot because of this. I cried, I don’t know how many times in my cell. I just felt horrible, but I want to go on with my life and there is nothing I can do about it now.
WAGSCHAL: And what was it like in your cell?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : In my cell it was, I was with two other people in my cell. The people were very nice. The guards were very nice. And I was treated well there.
WAGSCHAL: And what kind of things did you do in the cell?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : We didn’t do much. I read a lot of books. I studied for school. There is a lot of things. We played soccer there. Yeah. I tried to keep myself busy and not think too much. But, of course, they interrogated me sometimes morning to night. And it just... yeah.
WAGSCHAL: What were the interrogations like?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : The interrogation, of course, were horrible, because they put stuff in your head. I think if you have a weak person in the interrogation room, I think, even if they are innocent, I think they will admit to doing a crime just to be let alone. Just to leave them alone. Just to get something to eat. To get something to drink. The Aruban interrogators might have been a little kinder than the Dutch interrogators. Because, they really try to make you look guilty, even if you are not guilty or not.
WAGSCHAL: Can you describe a little bit what it is like in an interrogation room?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : You basically sit in a room in a chair with two cameras pointing on you. Since the last month, I did not talk to the interrogators, I just sat there and looked at them and they basically just kept asking me questions, making up stories referring to other documents.
WAGSCHAL: And how long did this go on for?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : What do you mean?
WAGSCHAL: The interrogation?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, in the beginning, the interrogation could've gone from 8 in the morning to 11 at night. But, at the end, they slowly became, less and less, because they did not have more things to ask. And, I don’t think there is anything else to ask here. I haven’t been interrogated yet here in Holland. No one has come to investigate me and I know it is because there is nothing else to ask. Every question I have answered.
WAGSCHAL: Are you still a suspect?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, I am still as suspect. It is just that my detention even got prolonged with 30 days. It is just there is not evidence to hold me any longer in a jail cell and it makes no use since I can continue my study and they can just here in Holland they can interrogate me whenever they want. There was an appeal by actually the attorney general there to try and hold me back and the higher court, which is three judges from Curacao, they even decided that I can travel anywhere in the world that I want. I can do anything I want. But, I remain a suspect, and in 30 days my lawyers will have to go to court in Aruba and see what happens again.
WAGSCHAL: So, you are still a suspect?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Yes, I am still as suspect.
WAGSCHAL: How does it feel to be a suspect?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : It does not feel good, of course, and I hope that when the 30 days passes, I am not a suspect anymore, but I am here. I feel a lot more free, I can just study and work on my school. Soon, I am going to go tonight to be at my house. I have to learn to be alone. And, I think it is very important for me to think about my study and make sure that I do good in school.
WAGSCHAL: You seem like a composed young man, but the issue I am going to ask you this again, you seem a bit cold. You seem like you don’t have much emotion when it comes to her. Are you being reserved and not showing it, or do you really not feel that much about…
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, of course, I am trying to be reserved, but and, of course, I feel. I would never called myself cold ,but it's just I do feel a lot for her. I just try not to think about it as much as I can. I try to just go on with my life.
WAGSCHAL: If you felt a lot for her, wouldn’t you be more forthcoming with her mother?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : Well, I didn’t know her that long. And, I didn’t like how her mother treated my family, treated my dad and treated other Aruban people. I don’t respect that at all. I do think that in terms of suffering, that the suffering that you experienced in jail and all of that could not even remotely come close to anything the mother would be experiencing in terms of missing a daughter. No, I mean I can’t say I understand for her, cause I can’t, cause I don’t have a daughter and my daughter is not missing. But, I do know, she must be going through a lot of pain. But, again it does not make sense to make other people suffer, because she is suffering and that is what I feel like she is doing, but that is about enough. If you guys want to talk we can talk a different time.
WAGSCHAL: Do you have a nickname for her at all?
Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT : No.
WAGSCHAL: Thank you very much. Can we just get shots of you walking here?
(he walks away to talk to his father standing nearby)
****NOTE: During this interview, not one time did Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT say he was innocent.****
According to “A Current Affair” reporter HARRIS FAULKNER, at one point in the interview Joran put his backpack on the ground and said “there is no need for me to run, let me just talk.” Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT showed up during the interview 20 minutes into it’ After the interview he stated he did not want the “A Current Affair” people to leave until he was able to see the tape of the interview. The “A Current Affair” people did not allow Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT to see the tape.

On 9-26 while viewing the Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s 9-26 “A Current Affair” interview during which he denies anyone had sex with NATALEE was being discussed by FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN and BETH, FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN stated, “It's also, as I recall, when you and I sat down with Joran's parents [6-21], I remember you and Joran's mother having a discussion about what Joran said about his sexual activity with Natalee, which is in stark contrast to this, as well.” FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN stated that in the June 21, 2005 un-recorded meeting between BETH, GRETA, Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT , and ANITA VAN DER SLOOT inside the Murder Suspects SLOOT's home, that ANITA VAN DER SLOOT admitted to BETH and GRETA that before NATALEE disappeared, his parents made Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT regularly meet with a psychologist to try and learn to control his repeated public and private demonstrations of anger.
(now a witness) SUSTEREN further stated that in the same June 21, 2005 meeting, ANITA VAN DER SLOOT detailed very graphically to (for?!!) BETH and GRETA the sexual acts that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitted to his mother that he committed against NATALEE (while, as even Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT has admitted vocally and in writing, NATALEE was slipping in and out of consciousness). GRETA also stated that while listening to ANITA graphically detail the sexual acts that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitted to his mother that he had committed against a barely conscious NATALEE, GRETA personally felt like she wanted to crawl under the table and hide.

On 9-26 DUTCH news-sourced “Expatica” reported:

Holloway suspect admits lyingAMSTERDAM — Dutch teenager Joran van der Sloot, 18, has admitted he lied about the last time he saw Alabama graduate Natalee Holloway who has been missing on the Dutch Caribbean island Aruba since the end of May.But van der Sloot denied he harmed Holloway and insisted in a television interview that she was fine when he left her.He was interviewed in the Netherlands for American television programme "A Current Affair" aired on Monday.Van der Sloot spent over two months in custody as repeated searches, including missions by Dutch F-16 jets, failed to turn up any trace of Holloway. He returned to the Netherlands to study at the start of September after a court on the Dutch autonomous territory of Aruba ordered his release. He remains a suspect.Holloway, 18, vanished on 30 May while holidaying on Aruba with friends to celebrate their graduation from high school.Van der Sloot and two of his friends, Surinamese nationals Satish K., 18, and Deepak K., 21, are believed to be the last people to have been with Holloway prior to her disappearance.Van der S. was arrested on 9 June and while he has given differing accounts of the last hours with Holloway he has always denied harming her.He and the brothers initially told Police they dropped Holloway off alone at her hotel but later admitted van der Sloot was dropped off with the teen."We agreed to lie,'' van der Sloot said during the interview. But he insisted the night ended when he left her alone on the beach."She wanted to stay here the whole night. I told her no I had to go. I even lifted her up to carry her back to the hotel, and she told me to put her down,'' he said.Van der Sloot said he had been drinking with Holloway when they left with the brothers."Obviously she was drunk. I had stuff to drink, too. She wanted to go with me. I wanted to go with her. It was totally consensual,'' he claimed. Editor's note: In keeping with Dutch convention, Expatica did not publish the Dutch suspect's full name until he decided to give a public interview.

On 9-26 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to MSNBC, "Well as you recall, his earlier statements—Police statements, he indicated that she was going in and out of consciousness and as you‘re progressively getting worse, I don‘t see how she could be able to be functioning at that point in time. I did have some new information that led me to believe that Deepak was the one who assisted her out of the Carlos N‘ Charlie‘s. And based on this statement I just got a feeling that alcohol was not the only drug administered.” “A lot of the information we had early on, indicated they were pointing fingers at each other. Pointing at who had killed her and so on and so forth. Now, they are taking the soft shoe approach so to speak. (they are now saying) ‘This is my story and I am sticking to it.’ So, apparently he got another story and that story is out to the American public. What the American public doesn't know is the stories that were given in the depositions and declarations.” When asked if the ARUBA authorities are still investigating, DAVE HOLLOWAY stated, “Yes, very much so.”
On 9-26 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to CNN, “Well, apparently he has lied a number of times and, you know, when you lie, it’s really hard to remember what you lied about, so it is apparent that, you know, he’s lying again.” “In fact, I understand he ( Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ) was in a bar the next weekend (circa 6-3, 6-4, or 6-5), right after, doing the same things, according to a private source that indicated so.”
After watching the “A Current Affair” interview of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , T. J. WARD said, “We think something did happen to her and she apparently had a passed out had a heart attack, stopped breathing. We still believe that Paul van der Sloot was called and he has a direct involvement with Natalee Holloway's disappearance.” “We just think right now that Paul van der Sloot and some information that we are following right now that Paul van der Sloot was directly involved with the disappearance and cover-up of Natalee’s disappearance. If you remember, that the story that was brought out on Dr. Phil, by Beth and the info she had from the Police reports it always goes up to Joran being there, Deepak saying lets leave get rid of her. But there is never any final conclusion as to what happened to her after that and what caused her disappearance. Some of the information that we have is that Paul van der Sloot said no body, no case. We have gathered information and are still receiving information and are following up on it. We are doing this pro bono, and as I told Beth when we got involved if she will trust us, we will find Natalee.” “I can tell you that from the information we have, Paul van der Sloot was directly involved with the disappearance of Natalee.” “From all the information we have gathered, even when I was in Aruba. Every place has been searched, every place that could have been hidden. We know there are lots of nooks and crannies that them being natives of the island could put her. But, information that we have right we believe in the removal or disappearance of Natalee. I can't elaborate with that, because it is very important that it be kept confidential at this time.” When asked if the ARUBAN authorities have this information, T. J. WARD said, “No, but if we find information that will lead us to where she is we will turn it over to the law enforcement and the FBI.”
On 9-26 “National Enquirer” reporter DAVID WRIGHT told Court TV, “We have been keeping tabs on Joran for a couple of weeks in Arnhem. He is here living with his father outside a small town, outside the city of Arnhem and attending business school. We have learned that the Aruban Police have been alerted to a possible attempt to kill him. They were concerned enough to alert their counterparts in Holland.” “There are people angry enough in Aruba and the United States to want him dead.” WRIGHT thinks Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT has been targeted more so than the Current Murder Suspects KALPOE’s. WRIGHT claims Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT “Doesn’t seem to have changed his ways. He is hitting the bars sometimes till the early hours. He is cutting classes, and he is certainly chasing girls.” “His father brings him to school most mornings, sometimes he goes home on the train. They have spent a lot of time attending soccer matches around Europe. They have been to England, are planning a trip to Macedonia. His father certainly doesn’t seem to be keeping a tight rein on him.” “We have been talking to people here to whom he has been giving a very different version of events to those on the current affair interview. We have got a major exclusive that story out this Friday that sheds complete new light on the case. (it will shed complete new light on Joran and to some extent his father)” When asked if it contradicts the information Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave to current affair, WRIGHT said, “Yes.”
On 9-26 BETH (in NEW YORK CITY) told FOX News that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT should “accept accountability and responsibility,” and that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s actions while NATALEE --a tourist-- was slipping in and out of consciousness are responsible for the decline in ARUBA’s tourism. “It is typical of Joran, and it is so ironic when you listen to his video tape. He is the reason why Aruba, that the tourism is down.” When asked if any diplomatic channels can be pursued, in light of the bungling of this case by Aruban authorities, BETH answered that is actually the main reason why she is in NEW YORK CITY.
On 9-26, while viewing the Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s 9-26 “A Current Affair” interview during which he denies anyone had sex with NATALEE was being discussed by FOX News FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN and BETH, FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN stated, “It's also, as I recall, when you and I sat down with Joran's parents (6-21), I remember you and Joran's mother having a discussion about what Joran said about his sexual activity with Natalee, which is in stark contrast to this, as well.”
On 9-26 CNNHN reported:

NANCY GRACE, HOST: … And tonight, breaking news in the Natalee Holloway case. The prime suspect, Joran van der Sloot, admits outright that he lied about the night the 18-year-old Alabama beauty Natalee Holloway went missing. Well, will the Aruban authorities do anything about it this time?

GRACE: Welcome back everybody. I'm Nancy Grace. Thank you for being with us.Apparently a complete about face by crime suspects in the Natalee Holloway disappearance, Joran van der Sloot, the judge's son.Take a listen to this.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , SUSPECT: She had a lot to drink and at Carlos and Charlie's she grabbed my hand and took me with her, for me to take jelly shots off of her, and afterwards she asked me to buy a shot for her, buy her something to drink, which I did, and that's all I saw that she drank. I didn't see her drink anything else, but from earlier, when I was with her friends at the Excelsior Casino, at the Holiday Inn, the whole group was already drinking, from 5:00 in the afternoon, and I didn't really see her at that moment. I didn't even really notice her at that moment, but I guess they came here to have a good time, to celebrate their graduation, also, and they might have all gone a little too far. I don't know.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What do you mean, jelly shots, you mean off of her body?VAN DER SLOOT: Yeah.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How does that work, can you tell me?VAN DER SLOOT: I don't know. I never did it myself before. She grabbed my hand and took me with her and asked me if I wanted to take jelly shots off her.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But how does it work, I don't understand.VAN DER SLOOT: She climbed on the bar, she laid down on the bar, and she called over the bartender by name, and he got a jelly shot for her and I took a jelly shot off her.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I don't understand. Is it on her belly? Is it on her --VAN DER SLOOT: On her belly, yes.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: On her belly button?VAN DER SLOOT: Yes.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And then what do you do?VAN DER SLOOT: Then you basically lick it off.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: OK, maybe I'm getting a disconnect, but how did she get from the bar to disappeared? You know, he kind of left that part out. That was our first look at Joran van der Sloot since his release from prison. He was a suspect and many believe is a suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. He spoke to Jerry Wexler (ph), a reporter with "Current Affair." And joining us right now is Harris Faulkner, with "Current Affair."Harris, what can you tell me?HARRIS FAULKNER, "CURRENT AFFAIR": Well, Nancy, first of all, it's good to be talking with you this evening. I can tell you that Joran van der Sloot got worn down by us. We have been after him, to talk with him, really, since the very week on the island that Natalee Holloway disappeared. I went to his home as early as June 2, so to reach the new family home and his new college campus, in Holland, with our producer, Jerry Ratchel (ph), was just a whole lot of work and a whole lot of wrangling. He knew it.At one point in the interview, which, by the way, goes more than 30 minutes, he puts his backpack on the ground and says you know what, there is no need for me to run, let me just talk. Some of the things that happened during that interview, and you know, because you're an attorney, you know, you've been around the block, Nancy, one of the things that happened during this interview is a glimpse of what investigators must have been seeing all along in this case. Do you know that this kid on camera contradicts himself several times about some really important stuff --GRACE: Let me go to Dave --FAULKNER: -- like did you have sex with Natalee or did you not have sex with Natalee.GRACE: Did he answer? FAULKNER: The first answer we get, it's none of your business. Second answer we get, I did not have sex with her. The other two guys, Satish and Kalpoe, suspects, also did not have sex with her. Third answer, it's none of your business.GRACE: I'm going to go to Natalee's father. Dave Holloway is with us. Dave, what is your reaction to Joran van der Sloot's additional statement, basically saying outright that he lied to Police?DAVE HOLLOWAY, FATHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: Well, apparently he has lied a number of times and, you know, when you lie, it's really hard to remember what you lied about, so it is apparent that, you know, he's lying again. So what good was the statement? I don't know. I read through it myself. There was one question, what do you have to say to the American people. And he said, I don't have anything to say to the American people, you know, which tells me that he's all in it for himself and trying to cover up for the Deepak and Kalpoe brothers.GRACE: Well, you know, from what I read of it, he seems to be blaming Natalee, like it was her fault that she had too much to drink and then somehow went missing, with him.HOLLOWAY: Well, I've read about criminal pasts and this type stuff, and part of the process is to belittle your victim, demean their reputation and all that kind of stuff, so that doesn't surprise me. You know, Deepak and Satish did the exact same thing.GRACE: To Courtney Anderson, defense attorney. Courtney, I know it is hard for you to take off that defense attorney hat, but you know, will this guy ever break down and tell us what happened to Natalee? You know good and well the three of them did not have sex with her and then leave her alone out on the beach and, what, then somebody else can and kidnapped or killed her? That doesn't make any sense.COURTNEY ANDERSON, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, your first question is, is he ever going to break down and tell the truth, and honestly I think we can see -- typically, if somebody has committed a crime, over time they do eventually get caught. They do eventually have so many contradictions and leave some trail behind or some evidence where they do get caught, and I think if there is some solace for her parents, it should be that the people who have done wrong will be caught at some point.GRACE: And to you, Daniel Horowitz, this latest statement. Do you think Aruban officials will do anything about the fact, he admits he lied to Police?HOROWITZ: You know, Nancy, you called it. You were the first person on national television to say they're lying, or words to that effect, when they fingered those security guards who did nothing wrong. At that time, they should have been arrested and charged with the crime of impeding an investigation. They should be locked up right now for that crime alone. So I don't think the Aruban officials ever intended to go hard after these guys. It looks bad for them, and now they're happy. They just want us to go away. But, Dave, don't let it go away. I know, Nancy, you won't.GRACE: And, Dave, do you think -- the fact that this guy has admitted he lied to Police about your girl, will that make any impact on the Aruban government? Will they do anything about it?HOLLOWAY: I don't know. I went down there about 10 days ago and spent five days talking to my attorney, the prosecutor and the Police, and the Police were genuine in the fact that they were continuing the investigation and wanted to get to the bottom of it. So I have renewed hope that things have died down a little bit, and they were hopeful that they could come up with something.GRACE: Stay with us, Mr. Holloway. We'll all be right back, everyone, but very quickly, to tonight's all points bulletin. FBI and law enforcement across the country on the lookout for this man, Juan Carlos Martinez, wanted in connection with the '99 murder of 37-year-old Marlon Strain (ph) in Alabama. Martinez, 26, 5'6", 135 pounds, black hair, brown eyes.If you have any information on Martinez, call the FBI, 205-326-6166. Local news next for some of you, but we'll all be right back. And remember, live coverage of a road rage murder case, 3:00 to 5:00 Eastern, Court TV. Please stay with us as we remember Specialist Scott P. McLaughlin, 29, an American hero.(COMMERCIAL BREAK)GRACE: Natalee Holloway disappeared seemingly into thin air, but three young men admit they were with her late into the evening the night she disappeared off her high school senior trip.We are not forgetting Natalee Holloway.Dr. Robi, it just seems to me that here you see Joran van der Sloot attacking Natalee Holloway's reputation. Even in her death, that she's somehow the bad girl because she had some shots. LUDWIG: Right. He's saying she's bad, so don't feel so badly for her that she is missing, and I'm a good guy, I was just going along with the flow. She was partying all night. And, of course, that's not the way it works, but you can see how his mind is working. I'm good, she's bad. There is a split, good/bad. I'm deserving of freedom. And perhaps that's why he lied. He felt whatever happened -- GRACE: Well, right there he's lying, Dave Holloway, telling me on national TV he's never had a shot or whatever, a Jello shot, he's talking about. He was at that bar all the time and at casinos until 1:00 and 2:00 in the morning. Jello shot my foot! This guy probably lived off Jello shots.HOLLOWAY: He did. In fact, I understand he was in a bar the next weekend, right after, doing the same things, according to a private source that indicated so.GRACE: Well, what was upsetting to me was that he seemed to, in the accounts I read of his statements, attack not only Americans but Natalee's mother for caring and raising a stink about her child's disappearance. I mean, he seemed to point out and lash at everybody except himself -- Dave.HOLLOWAY: That's true. I read the statement, and he indicated that he didn't want to give a statement to the American people nor did he want to talk about any of the investigation. When they got close to asking him some of the key questions, he put up a wall and said he didn't want to talk about it and gave kind of the same answers that his father gave. You know, we're still in an investigation, we can't talk about it. As soon as the investigation is over with, I'll say something. So, you know, what is he hiding? We're going to get to the bottom of it.GRACE: You're so right. With someone who refuses to talk, refuses to give explanation, their story changes every time they open their mouth, but I don't think Aruban authorities will do a thing about it.

On 9-27 ARUBAAN's news-source "Amigoe.com" reported:

The Chamber of Commerce (KvK) wants an independent investigation to a possible political pressure to the Police and the DA
The Chamber of Commerce wants this investigation after the statements of former commissioner Jan van der Straten, who can be considered as a well informed person of Justical business at high level. The Chamber of Commerce is afraid that the political pressure to the Justice Department will decrease the investments on Aruba. Aruba needs to be a legal justice system where everyone has the right to a equal and fair treatment. Investors should work in a stable and good climate. The Chamber of Commerce (KvK) is begging the authorities to give this investigation high priority.

On 9-27 CBS reported, “Natalee Holloway's mother says that the Alabama teen may have been drugged the night she disappeared in Aruba almost four months ago.” “There have been so many lies that have come out of Joran van der Sloot's mouth that it's so — sometimes I think the only facts we have are all of his lies.” BETH also said she will be traveling to HOLLAND “to make sure that everyone realizes and still knows that the reward money is still out there. We have $1 million for a safe return, $250,000 for the whereabouts of Natalee. And we've had posters printed in Dutch that we will be distributing in Amsterdam.” "When Joran led Natalee out of (the bar), she had no ability to make any kind of decision. He even describes her in the same interview (as being) drunk. I don't know what exactly Joran bought her. I believe he had bought her a shot of 151 (rum). Natalee has never had anything like that. I don't even know … what else was in that shot. Joran admits to buying her the only drink that he saw her have that night. He has her talking about a lot of strange things. "It almost sounds like to me that she is drugged. And in his statements, also, he's saying that she's coming in and out of consciousness. That just doesn't sound like just drunk. It sounds like to me it's a possibility she could have been drugged, also."
On 9-27 JUG TWITTY stated to FOX News:
Jug Twitty Lashes Out at the Prosecutor

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Natalee Holloway's (search) father recently met with the Aruba prosecutor for about four hours. Joining us live from Birmingham is Natalee’s stepfather, Jug Twitty. Welcome, Jug.
GEORGE "JUG" TWITTY, NATALEE HOLLOWAY’S STEPFATHER: Hi, Greta.
VAN SUSTEREN: Jug, this meeting that Dave Holloway (search) had with the prosecutor, four hours long, what can you tell us about it?
TWITTY: I don’t think anything really came out of it, Greta. I was disappointed. You know, the last time I asked Beth today, I said, you know, Have you talked to Karin Janssen (search)? When’s the last time you talked to her? And honestly, the last time that she’s talked to Karin Janssen was August the 28th. And what’s today, the 27th of September? I mean, that’s almost a month ago, and that was when I was with Beth down there. We flew back down to have a meting with Karin.
And it was such a heated conversation that after we left the meeting, she cut my information off. You know, I had a person that was a liaison between the police and us, a personal friend, and before I could even get back to the hotel room, she had already called and cut it off.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why was it heated on August 28?
TWITTY: Because I think I was asking questions that she didn’t know that I knew about, things that she wouldn’t tell me and I was confronting her with, you know, things like the blood in the car. If you’ll remember, way early on in the investigation, even the prime minister came and said, Yes, they found blood in the car. The FBI said they found blood in the car. She says they didn’t. She says they — I know for a fact that they cut parts out of the seat, cut parts out of the ceiling of Deepak’s car, and they sent them wherever to get tested. And she said no. Initially, the FBI said there was blood all over the car, but then they came back and said now it’s cleaning fluid. And I went ballistic in the meeting. And you know, there are a lot of other things that I went ballistic on because she’s so vague on everything that she tells you. You know, here’s a perfect example, when she hasn’t communicated with Beth in a month. So another...
VAN SUSTEREN: And, go ahead. I’m sorry.
TWITTY: No, I mean just things like, you know, one of the things when I left down there last time, we have another attorney, Helen, and Helen asked that three of the people that were with Beth and I that night we first arrived on the island, the FBI took their statements when they came back to the United States, but obviously, the Aruban police really didn’t use their statements because I believe that the people there the first night, like myself, could give you answers as to what Joran said, what his dad said, what happened, all this kind of stuff.
So my attorney asked that we come back to the United States, take these three people, go to a federal judge, have them sworn in, and we have a federal judge here that was kind enough to help us bring these three friends in that were there that night and take their sworn statements. And of course, my attorney in Birmingham is calling down there, asking Karin Janssen, What exactly do you want? She won’t even return his phone calls. I mean, it’s pitiful. It’s horrible.
VAN SUSTEREN: The two of you got into it a little bit on the 28th, and she’s cut you off. But when she met with Dave, Natalee’s father, for four hours, did she talk about the investigation for Natalee, or did it go off on collateral issues?
TWITTY: No. She talked about the issues as far as Natalee, you know, having problems with her family with Beth and I or with her father, or whatever. Of course, all this stuff was talked about way early on in the investigation. She talked about $1 million life insurance policy on Natalee, which is just crazy. She talked about my brother being in the banking business, being in money laundering. And I mean, I just don’t know where this stuff’s coming from, Greta. It’s like she’s not even trying to find out the answers, she’s trying to find out everything, you know, that could be wrong, as far as our family goes. You know, it drives me crazy.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did Dave walk away, if you know, with the sense that he had gotten some information, or did he walk away with a sense of frustration from this four-hour meeting?
TWITTY: I can’t tell you that because I haven’t talked to Dave. You know, I’ve talked to Beth. I’ve seen some e-mails that Beth has sent me back that Dave’s e-mailed back and forth to them down there. But it’s frustrating. You know me, Greta. I mean, you’ve been to my house. You probably know me better than any of the people that I’ve talked to, you know, in the media, and I’m a high-strung person. I’ve kind of tried to stay back lately because, you know, first of all, I have a lot of friends that were affected by Katrina and our business was affected by that, so I’ve kind of stayed back and let Beth do this. But you know, I have a real problem with the prosecutor. Either she’s hiding something down there, or she doesn’t have any backbone.
VAN SUSTEREN: Which do you think it is?
TWITTY: I don’t know. I really don’t. I mean, I cannot understand why she can’t communicate with the family, I can’t understand why, you know, she doesn’t take and go back to the beginning and talk to the people that know the answers. There’s a lot of people there that first night. You know, why they didn’t take my statement until 33 days after? Why she will not admit — and this was one of the things we got in a heated conversation abut, in my meeting with her on August the 28 — why she will not admit she made a mistake in not arresting those boys the night after we brought them to them on a silver platter and let them go for nine days. Her deal was, We’re going to let them go. We’re going to try to, you know, be like catching a mouse in a trap. We’re going to track them. They got nothing. I mean, you know, they were going to tape their phones. They were going to do this. They were going to — they got nothing.
VAN SUSTEREN: And of course...
TWITTY: And she’s...
VAN SUSTEREN: ... no information.
TWITTY: Yes, she basically tells me, you know, this is the same thing as van der Sloot. You know, you keep acting like this, Mr. Twitty, you know, we’re going to quit. And you know, I said, Well, that’s a great attitude to have.
VAN SUSTEREN: Jug, as always, thank you for joining us.

On 9-27 a second part of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s filmed interview by WAGSCHAL with “A Current Affair” was shown. BETH stated, “The entire summer has been a lie”. “The F.B.I. never received a single document in the investigation, audio or taped evidence. The F.B.I. told her when a Dutch Official arrived at Quantico for the expressed purpose of sharing documents no papers or tapes were ever turned over to the Americans.” “The F.B.I. told me they never released the documents, the audio or video tapes evidence to them.” “They wanted the DNA because of the fluids they found in the car. They found fluids in the care in back seat of that gray Honda and on the roof.” “If someone brought her out alive that would shock me at this point.” “She’s on the side of the road raped and murdered. She’s alive walking down the street with some crack head named Wendi.” “There is no shock value anymore. That country has dragged me through hell.”

9-28-05
On 9-28 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to FOX News:

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Tips are still coming in, searches are still under way, but where is Natalee Holloway? Natalee’s father, Dave Holloway, recently met with the Aruba prosecutor and the lead Investigators on the case. Dave Holloway joins us live from Meridian, Mississippi. Welcome back, Dave.
DAVE HOLLOWAY, NATALEE’S FATHER: Thanks, Greta.
VAN SUSTEREN: Dave, I guess I should first ask you how you’re doing. It’s been a long time since May 30. I know you’ve been back and forth to Aruba and still no sign of your daughter.
HOLLOWAY: Well, it stays on your mind every day. You just can’t keep thinking about what happened and try to theorize what took place that night. But you know, things are getting better, and we’re getting back to, I guess, a normal life, so to speak. But it’s still tough and it stays on your mind constantly.
VAN SUSTEREN: You met about two weeks ago with the prosecutor for several hours. How did that meeting come about?
HOLLOWAY: Well, as you’re aware, Hurricane Katrina (search) hit, and we were without communications to Aruba for a couple of weeks and still have trouble communicating through the telephone lines. So I got behind and I felt like it was time to return to the island. You know, all the suspects had been released, and I felt like the case was, you know, going into a dead end. And I just had to find some answers and make sure the investigation is still continuing, you know, make sure the prosecutor is still motivated to, you know, proceed forward with the case.
VAN SUSTEREN: Did she tell you anything you didn’t know before?
HOLLOWAY: Well, we discussed communications. That was one of the big issues. There seemed to be — you know, everyone was not really on the right page, and I wanted to just meet with them and, you know, Here’s my information. Here’s some tips and some information I received from the Web site that — or the e-mail address that we had set up: Helpfindnatalee@comcast.net. And I gave them a lot of that information. And I really wanted to talk to the Police Investigator. Since I had not spoken with Eric Summers (ph), I wanted to meet with him, get his take on where the investigation is heading and also provide him with some of these leads.
VAN SUSTEREN: I heard that she asked you some questions, asked about some life insurance policy and also asked about Jug Twitty’s brother. What was that all about?
HOLLOWAY: Well, we had some issues that came up on the Internet. And you know, when you’re the Investigator with a Police department, you want to know the whole story. And one of the first things is, is to look at the family and look at everyone. And I was very agreeable that — let’s cut off those paths where everybody’s trying to go down and let’s focus back on the real issues. And that’s what we did. We just dispelled some of the rumors, some of the other issues that may have come up that, you know, they may have had questions about.
And that was not the big issue. The big issue is really communications, what we’re going to do in the future as far as searches. You know, I’ve had several searches planned. We did one last week. In fact, we did another one today. I wanted to be sure that — and they wanted to be sure that the Police were involved, the prosecutor was involved and a representative of the family were involved at the search site.
As you’re well aware, the Texas EquuSearch (search) people came in. You know, we were searching all over the island, and when we came up on something, we wanted the Police to be there. And a lot of it had to do with communications, and we just want to make sure that everyone was on the right page.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right, Dave. If you’ll stay with us, we’re going to have much more in a moment.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
VAN SUSTEREN: In a new TV interview, Joran van der Sloot (search) admits he lied to Police but says he had nothing to do with Natalee Holloway's disappearance. We are back with Natalee’s father, Dave Holloway.
Dave, before I talk to you about what Joran is now saying, I’m curious, the search that’s being done right now, is that something that the prosecutor and the Investigators are doing in Aruba, or is that something that you are privately or private citizens are checking out?
HOLLOWAY: That’s something privately done.
VAN SUSTEREN: What are they doing themselves...
HOLLOWAY: That I’ve been wanting to do for some time.
VAN SUSTEREN: What is the prosecutor...
HOLLOWAY: Oh, the Police...
VAN SUSTEREN: Yes. What are they actually doing?
HOLLOWAY: Well, they’re following up on tips and leads that had not previously been done because, you know, as you know, most of the investigators have been involved in the interrogation process. Now that that’s over, they’re focusing back on, you know, Hey, let’s stop and regroup and then start all over and start thinking like these kids were thinking.
And you know, they came to the bar — and this is not anything that the detectives mentioned. But you know, you stop and think. A group of guys, they get to the bar 30 minutes before it closes, they’re not ready to stop partying. So you know, when they leave, do they really go to the beach or do they really go to the lighthouse? Maybe, maybe not. So maybe they took a different avenue. Who knows?
We just need to start thinking outside the box in this investigation and pursuing every lead that’s possible. In fact, I spoke with our attorney today. She said that any lead or tip that comes in is going to be fully investigated.
VAN SUSTEREN: You know, Dave, I sure hope it is, but...
HOLLOWAY: And that came from the prosecutor’s office.
VAN SUSTEREN: You know, I mean, for the prosecutor now to be doing this in late September is rather stunning, since many of the clues that you would hope that would be available, for instance, hair, fibers, something in the car, whether she was taken to someone’s home or whatever — that stuff’s all gone.
On a 1-to-10 scale, 10 being the — you know, your greatest satisfaction, how would you rate your satisfaction with the zeal that the prosecution Investigators are now showing towards solving this disappearance?
HOLLOWAY: You know, when I was there, I’d say it was a good eight to nine. You know, they would throw a party if this case were solved. I do believe that. They are — you know, the energy I got from the prosecutor was, was that, you know, she’s determined to solve this case. And that’s the indication she gave me, and it gave me confidence.
I also met with the Police department, the new lead Investigator. He, as well as the other two detectives involved in the case, are — they’re frustrated, and they want answers. And you know, I’m trying to give them as much leads and tips that I can, and we’re hopeful that — you know, someone out there knows something, and hopefully, that person or individual will finally come across because I feel like that’s the only way that, right now, we’re going to be able to solve this case is through a witness or someone who knows something who’s going to come forward.
VAN SUSTEREN: Do they have a theory as to where Natalee is or what happened to her?
HOLLOWAY: You know, we discussed that and brain stormed. You know, really, Greta, the only thing that we know for sure is they left Carlos and Charlie’s, and you know, that left or right turn, you know, it’s a bunch of lies from there on out. So you really — you really don’t have anything to stand on.
And one of my other reasons in going to the island was, you know, I’m — I want to be patient throughout this, and I didn’t want them to jump to conclusions, make a charge and then, you know, what’s happened every time, you know, the judge dismisses the case. And the worst thing that can happen would be to rush in there and file charges and then the judge dismiss it. And then where are you?
And I would rather wait. And I asked the prosecutor, you know, Get as much evidence as you can, and then, you know, please communicate with the family before you file those charges because we want to make sure that if this case is going to be concluded, that the charges will stick.
VAN SUSTEREN: Dave, have you seen the interview with Joran van der Sloot that was done by "A Current Affair?"
HOLLOWAY: I’ve watched bits and pieces of it. I’ve read the actual transcript of the interview, yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: Any thoughts about it? Did it give you any sort of insight into the investigation?
HOLLOWAY: No, not really. It just confirms that, you know, he continues to tell the stories. And he’s telling it to the American people now, you know, another pack of lies, I guess, so to speak, so… Maybe he’s telling the truth on this? No.
VAN SUSTEREN: Have you seen his June 10 statement that he gave to the Police after he was in custody? He was picked up on the 9th and he apparently gave a statement the 10th. Have you seen that one?
HOLLOWAY: Oh, yes. We read it early on, yes.
VAN SUSTEREN: What does he say — what is his story as of June 10?
HOLLOWAY: Well, you know, I was thinking about that today. You know, the inspector on June 10, reported to the AP that they were getting ready to go to the scene, crime scene, and getting the family prepared to identify a body. And then here we are four months later, and they’re all free. So you know, what happened after June the 10? You know, it’s just perplexing to me that could be reported and then we’re back to square one, so to speak.
VAN SUSTEREN: Has Joran, to your knowledge, in custody ever admitted to harming or hurting Natalee in any way?
HOLLOWAY: I think what — and I haven’t read any of these declarations or anything like that. But it’s reported that they got pointing the finger on who did what. And we were — I felt we were real close to getting our answers when they were all three — or when the Kalpoe brothers were re-re-arrested again. And then, all of a sudden, the judge rules that they’re allowed to go. So at that point in time, it was finger pointing that something did happen, something bad may have happened, and then from there, it’s who knows what.
VAN SUSTEREN: Are Deepak and Satish still being talked to by the Police or not, if you know?
HOLLOWAY: As I’m aware, they are not.
VAN SUSTEREN: And so the investigation is simply, at this point — if I can sum it up, the prosecutor and the Police are following up any tips that are called in, but they’re not affirmatively going out and conducting searches. Is that right?
HOLLOWAY: They are conducting searches, Greta. In fact, we had a tip that came in while I was there on the island. I couldn’t stand it, so I had to go look myself. And the Police showed up early the next morning, cleared away — I was not able to go into the well, but they had a fireman go into the well, check it and cleared that area. Since then, they’ve conducted a dive search up under a cave that went up to the lighthouse. They cleared it. And then today, they did another dive search in a yacht basin.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right, so they’re actively searching, it sounds like. Dave, thank you, and I hope sooner or later, we get some information. Thank you, Dave.

On 9-28 CNNHN reported:

Joran van der Sloot, chief suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance, denies having sex with her in a lengthy interview to "A Current Affair" full of inconsistencies.
NANCY GRACE, HOST: Tonight, breaking news. missing Alabama beauty Natalee Holloway's mom fights back with an international lawyer after all three suspects in Natalee's disappearance walked free.

But first tonight, breaking news in the Natalee Holloway case. Natalee's mother, Beth Twitty, not giving an inch in the search for Natalee, seeking out an international lawyer after all three suspects in Natalee's disappearance walk free.Let's get the update from "A Current Affair" reporter Harris Faulkner. Harris, What's happening?HARRIS FAULKNER, "A CURRENT AFFAIR": Well, you know, Nancy, the biggest news so far has been our exclusive interview with Joran van der Sloot, and that is something that Natalee's mom had said all along that she wanted to see words from Joran. So as soon as we got that tape, we showed it to Beth. And you know, I have to say, in the watching it -- and I know you guys here have watched it on your show -- there are so many nuances in that tape and so many things that pop up that Beth then reacted to that gave us new information. For instance, I never knew until talking with Beth this week that the FBI was never given a single document, audio or visual, in this case. And now we've confirmed that, and I know you have done so, too. All along, we had thought this summer, you know, maybe they were being held at bay because of Dutch or Aruban law. And then we saw the Aruban prime minister about a month ago come out and say, FBI, come on in, inviting them in, I thought in a more substantive manner. Maybe we all thought that, too. But when Beth told me, sure, there was a Dutch official who flew from Holland all the way to Quantico to share information, but didn't leave a single thing in the hands of the FBI.GRACE: Wait a minute! Wait a minute! Harris, are you telling me the FBI doesn't have a copy machine?FAULKNER: I don't think it's about that. I think it's about being able to have those documents released to them. And you know, I did have an attorney...GRACE: Wait! You got to give me more than the FBI doesn't have enough information, OK? That's why they're the FBI. They get information. So what else can you tell me?FAULKNER: All right. So you've got that bombshell. But then the other thing was reacting to this interview with Joran van der Sloot, as he's sort of vacillating back and forth between whether or not he and Natalee were intimate, so on and so forth. Beth then brings up another thing that we never knew. I didn't realize that she had been able to look at those Police statements early on in the case. And you had to think that she probably -- she did. But she told me she had never planned to share this information because she wanted to play ball. And she said, simply, what he's saying in those statements is that it looks like her daughter was sexually assaulted.GRACE: Guys, take a listen to Joran van der Sloot in his most recent statement.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)JERRY WAGSCHAL, "A CURRENT AFFAIR" PRODUCER: Did you have sex with her that night?JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , SUSPECT IN NATALEE HOLLOWAY DISAPPEARANCE: That's -- first of all, that's none of your business.WAGSCHAL: It's just a question.VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, but it's absolutely none of your business.WAGSCHAL: Well, what -- I mean, did anything else happen that night?VAN DER SLOOT: No. Well, yes, I kissed with her. But neither me, Deepak or Satish ever had sex with her, and no one ever, ever said otherwise.WAGSCHAL: What is the worst thing you think you've done since this all started?VAN DER SLOOT: The worst thing I did was leaving her there at the beach. That was the worst thing, possible thing I could have done and then lie about it to try and -- yes, to try and make myself not look bad, I guess.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: I want to go straight out to Natalee's mother, joining us from Philadelphia. What is your response to Joran van der Sloot's most recent interview?BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, NATALEE'S MOTHER: You know, Nancy, it's just amazing how he -- you know, as Harris said, he just -- he seems like he contradicts himself repeatedly through that interview. You know, when he first was asked by the reporter, Did you have sex with Natalee, he says, It's none of your business. You know, why would that be his first response? And you know, Nancy, yes, he did. In his statements, Joran says that, yes, he had sex with her. And it's also at his home where he says this happens. And he stamps it with a date and time, 1:40 AM on May the 30th. So yes, in his statements, he says that he does, and...GRACE: Now, hold on. Did you tell me that he had -- he gave the statement in his home?TWITTY: Oh, no. In one of his statements that he gave to the interrogators, he specifically stated that he took Natalee to his home, he wants her to come in, and he had sex with her. And he stamps it with a date and time.GRACE: You know, I was reading a statement that is attributed to you in "The Post." It's a big, long interview with you. And you say, Deepak Kalpoe also said on tape that he and his brother had sex with Natalee. Now, how did you know that, Beth?TWITTY: Deepak gave a taped confession to a man by the name of Jamie Skeeters (ph), who's president of California Polygraph Association. He's a retired, 38 years, commander chief of Police, an extremely credible investigator. And he was able to obtain this information from Deepak. And Deepak says, yes, they all had sex with her.GRACE: You know, why don't we call it like it is? We keep saying they had sex with her. This girl had been having drinks at a bar. She leaves with three locals to go home -- have sex with her, it sounds more like gang rape. They also say that she kept going to sleep and then waking up, going to sleep. You know, that's what happens, Beth, when somebody's been given GHB, gamma hydroxybutyrate, date rape drug.TWITTY: You know, Nancy, that is a concern of mine. And also, how Joran says on the interview that Harris -- that "A current Affair" has played, Joran talks about how Natalee says a lot of strange things and very bizarre things, and he makes that comment twice before he says also -- he states that she's obviously drunk. And when I hear of her speaking of strange things and what she was saying, you know, that sounds like to me that's not drunk, but it sounds like that could be drugged and how she's also falling asleep and waking up in his statement.GRACE: Well, speaking of his statement, take a listen to this.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: She had a lot to drink at Carlos and Charlie's. She grabbed my hand and took me with her for me to take jelly shots off her. And afterwards, she asked me to buy a shot for her, buy her something to drink, which I did. And that's all I saw that she drank. I didn't see her drink anything else. But from the day -- from the earlier, when I was with her friends at the Excelsior casino at the Holiday Inn, the whole group was already drinking from 5:00 in the afternoon. And I didn't really see her at that moment. I didn't even really notice her at that moment. But I guess they came here to have a good time, to celebrate their graduation also, and they might have all gone a little too far. I don't know.WAGSCHAL: What do you mean jelly shots with her? You mean off of her body?VAN DER SLOOT: Yes.WAGSCHAL: How does that work? Can you tell me?VAN DER SLOOT: I don't know. I never did it myself before. She grabbed my hand and took me with her and asked if I wanted to take jelly shots off her.WAGSCHAL: And how does it work? I don't understand.VAN DER SLOOT: And she climbed on the bar. She laid down on the bar and she called over the bartender by name, and he got a jelly shot for her and then I took a jelly shot off her.WAGSCHAL: I don't understand. Is it on her belly? Is it on...VAN DER SLOOT: On her belly, yes.WAGSCHAL: On her belly button.VAN DER SLOOT: Yes.WAGSCHAL: And then what do you do?VAN DER SLOOT: And then you basically lick it off.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: To Dr. Patricia Saunders, clinical psychologist. Patricia, if you take a listen to what he's saying, the words, It must have all gone a little too far -- now, how would he know things went a little too far, if he claims he has no idea what happened to Natalee? He's the last one with her. What do you make of his statements? Take a look at him, Patricia.PATRICIA SAUNDERS, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST: I think that this guy lies like he breathes. You know, more and more, he's reminding me of Scott Peterson, the family's golden boy who has no sense of being able to read other people, of empathy, who's basically a psychopath. And I think this kid is. I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of his mouth, Nancy.GRACE: But don't you believe, when people make statements, you can gather -- you can garner a lot of information, even though they don't tell you outright what happened? Here, we've got him saying on tape, must have all gone a little too far. Now, what do you make of that, Richard Herman?RICHARD HERMAN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: ... didn't try and analyze these conversations. There's not going to be a prosecution here. It's not going to happen. "A Current Affair" is not going to force a prosecution. I know...GRACE: Well, I'm sorry. I didn't ask you anything about "A Current Affair" forcing a prosecution. You've dealt with enough murder defendants, rape defendants, kidnapping defendants. If you look at their statements, you can read between the lines and determine what happened. You know what? I'm going to go to Renee Rockwell. Renee, you've got this guy saying, point blank, into a camera, into a microphone, Things went too far. I mean, am I the crazy one on this panel? Nobody else is hearing this but me?RENEE ROCKWELL, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Nancy, the most incredible thing is that he won't shut up. Somebody needs to put a leash on this guy because everything he's saying can be compared with any prior statement. And don't forget, Nancy, two years the government has to compare all this, and the government has up to two years to still bring a formal charge against him, two years from the date that she disappeared.GRACE: Take a listen to this.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)WAGSCHAL: How do you leave a girl on the beach?VAN DER SLOOT: I told her I had to go home. I had school the next day. And I thought maybe she'd understand. She told me, no, she wanted me to stay there with her because the next day, she was leaving and she wanted to stay there the whole night. I told her, no, I had to go. I even lifted her up to carry her back to her hotel, and she told me to put her down. I left her there. I sat down next to her, talked to her a while, and I called Deepak to ask him if he could come pick me up, which Deepak didn't do, but...WAGSCHAL: Was she angry?VAN DER SLOOT: She wasn't angry. If anything, she was probably more, you know, upset that I was leaving her there. And I don't know what reaction she had. I don't know.At the time, I didn't feel it was a bad idea. At the time, I really didn't. It didn't seem wrong. It didn't seem -- of course, now I look back at it and think [DELETED] I'm an [DELETED]. What did I do? But there's nothing I can do about it now. If I could have that moment back, I would have made sure she got back to her hotel safely. But I can't change that now.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Beth Twitty, in your life, have you ever heard a bigger crock? Here we've got a young teenage man saying he left a beautiful young girl on the beach, that she wanted him to stay the night with her, and he went, Oh, no, I have classes tomorrow, which I'd be interested to find out, did he really have classes or go to classes? But long story short, how can he say, I don't know what reaction he had -- she had. According to him, he was right there talking to her~!TWITTY: I know, Nancy. You know, I'm so glad you've been in this investigation all summer. I mean, you know, it's just amazing to listen to him. And now I'm thinking, OK, well, then, how did he get home? I mean, you know, if Deepak and Satish now are not picking him up, I mean, he's stating that, who came -- who came to get him? Paulus van der Sloot, like he stated with us. And you know, we have never found out that -- what was happening during those early morning hours. We've never had that shared with us.GRACE: Hey, Beth, I want to replay this. Now, everybody, take a listen to this -- I told her I had to go home, had school the next day. He's turning down this girl, who he says is asking him to spend the night with her on the beach. Take a listen.(END VIDEO CLIP)WAGSCHAL: How do you leave a girl on the beach?VAN DER SLOOT: I told her I had to go home. It didn't seem -- of course, now I look back at it and think [EXPLETIVE DELETED] I'm an [EXPLETIVE DELETED]. What did I do? But there's nothing I can do about it now. If I could have that moment back, I would have made sure she got back to her hotel safely. But I can't change that now.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Harris Faulkner is with "A Current Affair." She's been on the case from the get-go. Harris, what other inconsistencies can you tell us about this statement? And do you really think the Aruban government is going to do anything about it?FAULKNER: Well, you know, it's difficult to say what that government will do next. I will tell you this. I interviewed a criminal profiler today, Nancy, who looked at this tape, and she said one of the things that she truly believes was that last statement that you played twice now. She says she believes he wishes he could take back the moment, whatever it was on that evening that has led him to the situation that he's in right now. She said that's possibly the only true thing he says in an interview, by the way, that's more than 33 minutes long.~You know, I do want to talk about how this came about a little bit, too, because I think it's important to put this into perspective. He's living in Holland, going to college. And you know, he and his family have reestablished themselves there. This is a guy who, over a 30-plus-minute period, put down his backpack and freely talked at will. He clearly, clearly wants to talk about this.GRACE: And Beth, isn't it true that the father, Judge van der Sloot, has also gone, relocated to Holland?FAULKNER: It is. And you know, Jug and I talk about all the time, how on earth could they possibly have done that on their own? I mean, they just left their home in Aruba and have a new home in Holland just at the drop of the hat? It just seems so unusual to me that they could have made this happen this quickly.GRACE: Well, you know, a behaviorist may believe that he is sorry. He probably is because he sure has caught a lot of grief for this. But you know, it's the old saying, I'm not sorry I did it, but I sure don't want to go to hell for it. I think that's what we may be seeing in that interview.Everybody, we'll all be right back. Joran van der Sloot finally speaks -- of course, not to Police. Stay with us.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: She was drunk. I had stuff to drink too, but (INAUDIBLE) respect that. The Aruban authorities tried to pin it that it was a rape case. She wanted to go with me. I wanted to go with her. It was totally consensual. I had something to drink and she had something to drink.WAGSCHAL: Well, I think if you can explain to people what really happened and you were really forthcoming, the more forthcoming you are, the more chance there is of you to get on with your life.VAN DER SLOOT: One day, I will explain exactly what happened. But right now, I don't -- I don't feel ready to do that.(END VIDEO CLIP)(COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: I knew her for one night. I feel super -- I feel horrible that I even went out that night without my father knowing. I should have just stayed home and this wouldn't have happened to me, it would have happened to another person. I just try to look at it that I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe even with the wrong people. And I just hope that -- that every -- that the truth comes out, that it just comes (INAUDIBLE) clearly in this case.WAGSCHAL: But do you understand? I mean, how can a girl just disappear?VAN DER SLOOT: I don't know. I think that's the million-dollar question.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Welcome back, everybody. I'm Nancy Grace. Thank you for being with us.Joran van der Sloot finally speaks, now that he's safely out of the country. He's no longer in Aruba. He is at school in Holland.Let me go straight out to Beth Twitty, Natalee's mother. Beth, why did he say he only knew her one night? Hadn't they met several nights before?FAULKNER: Oh, no, Nancy. Natalee had not met Joran. You know, he had been with a group, but she had not met him.GRACE: I thought they were -- he had been kind of hanging around her group.FAULKNER: Well, I think that a lot of the kids had met him, but you know, Natalee had no communication with him.GRACE: Take a listen to this, Beth.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: I knew her for one night. I think that's the million-dollar question.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Renee Rockwell, how many times have you heard that one, wrong place wrong time?ROCKWELL: I've got a couple of those right now, Nancy.GRACE: A couple?(LAUGHTER)ROCKWELL: But you know what, Nancy? He's still talking. Somebody needs to quiet him because what he's saying is -- he talked about having sex with this young lady and she's in and out of consciousness. You know what that is, Nancy. That's rape.GRACE: you know, the other thing about that, Renee, is can a criminal proceeding, such as an indictment, go forward with just a defendant's confession?ROCKWELL: I would say not in Aruba because these guys have -- the media has put so much pressure on the government, and these guys have absolutely been released. There's no physical evidence, to my knowledge, and what we have is just a number of just contradictions and statements that don't match. But now Beth said that Deepak and Satish had admitted that they had sex with her. And if Joran has explained that she was going in and out of consciousness, it's unbelievable to me that all three of them are not in jail right now for rape. Forget about a murder. We don't know if this is a homicide. We don't have a body. But why are they not in jail for rape right now? I don't understand.GRACE: That's my big question, Beth, because you clearly say that you have seen or read of Deepak on tape saying they had sex with her, and Joran says Natalee kept falling asleep, waking up, falling asleep, waking up.To Harris Faulkner. What are the inconsistencies in the various statements?FAULKNER: Well, you know, first of all, when we asked him -- and our producer, Jerry Wagschal, was there in Holland, on the college campus, talking to Joran. He said, Look, When they first came to you and asked you about her, Joran said, I didn't even know her name. And then he said, But you know, it's not like we talked for a few hours. But then he shares some details of conversation that he had with Natalee. And then it looked like maybe they did know each other, maybe they were kissing on the beach. So first, he doesn't know her name. Then, yes, maybe we didn't talk, but yes, maybe we did, and maybe I kind of remember what she said. Yes maybe, I exactly remember what she said. And then at one point, he said, I liked her. Then later in the interview, he says, Well, you know, I barely knew her. I didn't have any feelings for her. At one point, he says, I admit my friends and I lied, but I'm telling the truth now. And then later he says, One day, I'll say exactly what happened. Well, if you're telling the truth now, what more is there to say later?GRACE: So he admits outright that he lied to Police.VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, he says that in our interview.GRACE: We have more of that interview of Joran van der Sloot, which we'll show you when we get back. But very quickly, "Trial Tracking." Another 17-year-old missing out of Richmond, Virginia, Monica Sharp, not seen since she left home to walk her dog 10 days ago. Police suspect she is with Jeffrey Nichols (ph), a 57-year-old. She met him on the Internet. Nichols driving a '99 Oldsmobile Alero, Illinois plates 621 9015. If you have any information on Monica Sharp, call the Richmond Police 804-646-6764.(COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: I knew her for one night. I think that's the million-dollar question.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Straight out to Beth Twitty. Beth, I understand that you are meeting with an international lawyer. Why?TWITTY: Oh, you know, Nancy, it's just -- first of all, it's really tough to hear Joran. I mean, just over and over again. I just -- just -- it's just amazing. But yes, we are. And you know, Nancy, we just don't want to leave one stone unturned. And if there's anyone else that we need to meet with and if there's any other avenue we need to pursue, I mean, we have to do it. We just don't want to look back and think, Why didn't we. So we just need to pursue our options, if there are any, Nancy.GRACE: What options do you think there are?TWITTY: You know, Nancy, I really don't know, you know, as this case has gone and how frustrating it's been and how little information we're allowed to get, and even now, with the FBI not even able to receive a single piece of evidence. So we'll just have to try.(COMMERCIAL BREAK)GRACE: As you know, Natalee Holloway went missing on her high school senior trip and now the prime suspects are all released from jail. With us tonight, Natalee's mother, Beth Twitty. Beth, responding to another statement that the chief suspect, Joran van der Sloot, has given while he is away at college. You know, I want to go back to you, Beth, regarding your options at this juncture. I know that you've got to have some plan of action. I know you. So what do you want to do? Are you trying a civil suit here on American soil? In a case like that, various parties can be subpoenaed, they can be forced to take the stand. If you could ever get jurisdiction on Joran van der Sloot, that is.TWITTY: You know, Nancy, I'm just not ready to really say what we're thinking about. I think that strategic planning committee out of the prime minister's office watches us closely and, you know, I'm just not ready to say what our next move might be.What I want to know is, Nancy, what is their next move going to be? I think it is up to them. The ball is in their court and these newly elected judicial officials need to step up to the plate and accept accountability and responsibility and solve this crime.GRACE: To Patricia Saunders, clinical psychologist, you've called Joran van der Sloot a psychopath. Why?SAUNDERS: I think he might be, Nancy. He has very little expression of emotion. And that's been throughout your media coverage of him. There is something cavalier and glib about him. And just in his last statement, it was all about him. There was no mention about how horrible it was that Natalee went missing. It was me, me, me, me, me. And that kind of egocentrism is something that we do see in psychopaths. He may be a heartless young man. GRACE: As opposed to a psychopath?SAUNDERS: Yeah.GRACE: Elizabeth, do you have that sound ready? Great. Take a listen to this.(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What is the worst thing you think you've done since this all started?JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , SUSPECT: The worst thing I did was leaving her there at the beach. That was the worst possible thing I could have done, and then lie about it, to try and -- to try and make myself not look bad, I guess.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you have sex with her that night?VAN DER SLOOT: First of all, that's none of your business.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It's just a question.VAN DER SLOOT: Yes, but it is absolutely none of your business.UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Well, what, I mean, did anything else happen that night?VAN DER SLOOT: No, well, yes. I kissed with her, but neither me, Depak or Satish ever had sex with her, and no one ever said otherwise.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Beth Twitty, you know that to be a contradiction of everything else he has said.TWITTY: Absolutely, Nancy. You know, there is a part in there where Joran states that her mother knows the truth, and the reason why her mother knows the truth is she has read most of the statements in the case. So, Nancy, he's telling us as clearly as possible that his statements are true.GRACE: Beth, I wish you luck. Thanks for being with us.TWITTY: Thank you, Nancy.

On 9-28 an “MSN” personal webpage at http://spaces.msn.com/members/joranvandersloot/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c= was updated with, “I had a ruff [sic] time the past 3 monthes [sic] but things are definitaly [sic] looking up now. I have so many friends and family members that love me that whatever other people say doesn't bother me the slightest bit. Life is fragile and your whole life can be turned upside down at anytime, my suggestion to everyone is carpedium [sic] and live every day to its fullest!”
On 9-28 the “AP” reported, “With help from a wealthy Philadelphia businessman, the mother of an Alabama teen who disappeared on a class trip to Aruba plans to meet with an attorney to discuss her options in the stalled investigation. Beth Holloway-Twitty, mother of Natalee Holloway, told a Philadelphia newspaper -- quote -- ‘we just feel like if we just continue, that something will break.’” “Twitty is being helped by Joe Mammana, who has contributed 250-thousand dollars in reward money in Holloway's case and has been in regular contact with the family. Mammana arranged for a limousine to bring Twitty to Philadelphia to meet with an attorney, whom Twitty declined to identify.” “On her meeting with an attorney, she said, ‘I want to see what my options are, and how do I go about pursuing those.’” “‘I don’t call it reward money,’ Mammana said. ‘I call it bounty money. I’m a vengeful person. I don’t believe in an eye for an eye; I believe in two for one.’” “‘We’re going to hound and harass these people forever,’ Mammana told the newspaper, referring to Aruban officials and ‘anybody else involved with this that we feel did not cooperate and help us.’”
On 9-28 CNN reported that MARTY TRICHON is one of the attorneys BETH is talking to, and ELLIOTT CURSON is being brought onto the team as one of the public relations specialists.
On 9-28 JOE MAMMANA, multi-centi-millionaire and philanthropist, stated to CNN:

Well, you know, I can speak for myself. I won‘t speak for Beth. But my options are—personally, I would like to go after the island of Aruba in every way possible. These people have not been honest. They have not been fair. I personally want to boycott it and go for a national boycott of the island of Aruba. I want this little smug punk named Joran, or whatever his name is, to realize, to get the little grin off his face, and that light that he sees at the end of the tunnel, is a train coming head on.”

On 9-28 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to CNN, “And you know, we really just don‘t want to leave any stone unturned. And if there‘s any other avenue that we can pursue, you know, we want to do that. We just really don‘t—we just really haven‘t been able to look at any of our options here. So you know, that‘s kind of where we are, and we‘re just beginning this process.”
On 10-12 SKEETERS stated to MSNBC, “I handed these tapes over to a very reliable company--it's called the FBI--a week or two ago (circa 10-5 to 9-28). I'm from the old school you don’t bring these out in the public, you keep the integrity and credibility of the evidence, and I can't think of any thing more credible than the FBI.”
On 9-28 MAMMANA stated to CNN, “Marty [TRICHON] is one of my attorneys, who‘s been on retainer, works with my company. He‘s a former prosecutor. He‘s hard-core, doesn‘t leave any stones unturned. And he‘s a little different than I. He always believes I over E—intellect over emotion. So intellectually, he‘s putting everything together. He‘s going to circle the wagons in both directions and sit and we‘re going to review what is the best option to move forward.”

John Merryweather: At no moment did I defend Joran v.d. Sloot or the Kalpoe brothersDIARIO Aruba9/29/2005ORANJESTAD(AAN) --- Related to a press release yesterday “Merryweather wants to challenge Natalee’s mom?”, Mr. John Merryweather reacted yesterday by indicating that the contents of much of that article was based on the misinterpretation of his thoughts and that he will contest it.He starts by explaining that in the first place, it goes without saying that he prays for the Twitty and Holloway families. “At this time, we also pray for Aruba because it is due to the Twitty family, who has asked for a boycott of tourism to Aruba, against citizens who have nothing to do with what happened to Natalee, sadly she was last seen on her trip to Aruba. He continues to explain that Aruba has a competent corps: justice system, laws, public ministry, and police corps, assisted by the FBI, assisted by specialists from Holland, supported by the government who gave half a day off to employees to help in the search and weeks and months have passed without a positive result. At a certain point in time, Aruba began to be ridiculed by America in television channels, and activity started here (in Aruba) to defend our justice system which is being questioned by America. They understand some of our laws but not others, and I heard mentioned once “plea bargaining” a bargaining of the innocence of an innocent Aruban citizen. I can’t support this. One thing is for certain, the Dutch system that we share, defends innocent people, it is absolutely confirmed that if you are not proven guilty, you are innocent. This is all the assurance we have if tomorrow any of us is detained for 10 days or 4 days, but not that a demand is made for a case to be brought against us.If nothing can be proven, no person can bargain with our innocence, says Mr. Merryweather who mentioned two things that bothered him about the article.Never has he defended Joran v.d. Sloot nor the Kalpoe brothers. “I don’t have to defend anything. They have lawyers who are experts in our island’s laws who are able to defend them and we have a public ministry. “Who am I to defend them? I think logically about the case and the information I have is that which I have gathered from the press, among others, DIARIO”Resistance has started to grow and the call for a boycott of Aruba doesn’t only originate in Alabama, but started in the cable channels and I, like any other Aruban, am very worried. At a certain point, our judicial system was been ridiculed so much and I supported a small demonstration in front of the court and will be the spokesperson of the group, without being asked, because I wanted to.After that, for one reason or another, the next day American channel 5 found me and two days later I refused an interview because it wasn’t my intention at all to seek publicity or to speak for the whole community.“I don’t speak for the people, that is the truth. We are not an organization who has authority to speak on behalf of the people of Aruba. However, due to the reaction of hundreds of Aruban citizens who support and encourage us to continue the plight for our country, I don’t have any problem in doing so”, Mr. Merryweather wanted it to be known.

On 9-29 the “USA Today” wrote, “Because of incessant media coverage of Holloway's disappearance, ‘now everybody knows Aruba — and not necessarily in a good way,” says Myrna Jansen, managing director of the Aruba Tourism Authority. ‘Our main priority now is, let’s get this (NATALEE disappearance in ARUBA) solved and resolved. It’s not nice for anyone involved.’” “Since 2003, 11 murders have been recorded on this island of 100,000, the Aruba prosecutor's office says. none of them involved tourists.”
On 9-29 the newspaper “Solo di Pueblo” reported that an ARUBAN cab driver came forward with information about the Friday (5-27) before Natalee disappeared. The cab driver said that he took Natalee and friend and two guys back to the hotel and where they argued about Natalee being in love with a Dutch boy. The two guys were pretty mad at her and the cab driver asked them what the problem was. They just told him that they could not accept that Natalee is on vacation and suddenly fell in love with somebody she just knew. Days after, when Natalee's face became well known on the island and the driver recognized her, he was interrogated by ARUBAN authorities and the cab drivers statements were documented.

On 9-30 ARUBAAN's news-source "Amigoe.com" wrote, “According to Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP), there is not much that can be done against Twitty’s attitude. He says that declaring her as persona non grata is no option. The American media would blow that up and it can fire back at us.” “Many Aruban people are very angry with Twitty and are afraid that her constant appeals against Aruba would have a negative effect on the tourism. Even though this does not reflect in the figures, the government does keep a finger on the pulse. Croes does not consider taking measures against Twitty yet, but does not rule out the possibility to shut her up in the future. The Dutch government was asked to diplomatically support Aruba in this matter.”

Philanthropist and powerful lawyer from America start a national campaign against Aruba
ORANJESTAD (AAN): The MSNBC show Rita Crosby Live which ran Wednesday spoke with a powerful lawyer and a Philadelphia philanthropist who are going to help to launch a national campaign in America in efforts to boycott Aruba.Natalee Holloway’s mother, Beth Twitty, was in Philadelphia Wednesday to meet with a renowned philanthropist from that city, Joe Mammana. She also met with a lawyer because she doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned. From here, Natalee’s family wants to explore any any option they have available to find their daughter. Now, with the help of a powerful lawyer, they will start that process. The lawyers are Marty Trichon and Elliott Curson. One is a former prosecutor, who is a very ‘hard core’ person and will look at the case from all angles. He works in the style of reason first, and emotion later. The other was involved in President Reagan’s election campaign in 1980. He is an expert in Public Relations. He will look to form a team to advise what to do in regards to Aruba. What option are they looking for? Joe Mammana says that personally, he will go against Aruba in all possible forms. He found that people in Aruba haven’t been honest and haven’t been just. Personally, Joe wants to boycott Aruba and will start a national boycott of the island. He wants for Joran van der Sloot to realize, that the time has come to wipe that smile off his face and he plans to smack it off. They will not stop until the time that they know where Natalee Holloway is and until the time Beth Twitty can put her head on her pillow at night and sleep peacefully.Beth Twitty reacted to what Joran declared to the “A Current Affair” crew recently. She believes that what Joran, Deepak and Satish did with Natalee is “gang rape”, which is a crime. With a national boycott, they hope to pressure the authorities in Aruba and start to accuse the youngsters here of more crimes [?] Beth Twitty repeated, that she has asked for millions of people to support her to please not travel to Aruba nor any other Dutch territories until Natalee is returned to her. She is convinced that Aruba has the ability for this to happen!

On 9-30 the “National Enquirer” reported:

JORAN NAILED!
The prime suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway has dramatically broken a four-month silence to talk about her final hours.
Speaking about his involvement in the case that has gripped America, Joran van der Sloot, 18, laughed as he swigged beer, smoked menthol cigarettes, and confessed: “I'm guilty — but only of leaving her on the beach.“ In a series of shocking disclosures, van der Sloot:RAGED viciously at Natalee's heartbroken mother, Beth Holloway-Twitty
INSULTED Natalee by claiming she was "twisted" and cruelly blamed her for his arrest.
BOASTED about having sex on the beach with Natalee
TALKED of his hatred for Americans and called them "bitches"
CONFESSED he lied to Police
BRAGGED about how to dispose of a body in Aruba”
Joran, still officially under suspicion of rape and murder, went to Holland after he was freed from prison in Aruba on September 2.The 6ft 5ins honor student quickly enrolled in a business course at a 5,000-student college in Arnhem and, together with his father, Paulus, who was also briefly jailed in the case, moved into a family friend's home in the nearby town of Duiven. His account of his involvement with Natalee was given to attractive 28-year-old Kristina Pedersen, who got to know him on the Arnhem Business School campus. Over several days, he drank heavily, encouraged Kristina to watch hard core porn and tried to force himself on her. And it quickly became apparent that even now Joran cannot keep his story straight — his account was peppered with the lies that have marked his From Page 34 part in the investigation since Natalee disappeared on May 30.Kristina said: "One day we shared a jug of beer. Joran looked me in the eye and said, 'Here's to finding Natalee'. "Half an hour later he was trying to kiss me and lure me to a deserted area of a park. Then he suddenly asked me, 'Do you want me to bite you?'"When asked why he left Aruba, Joran laughed and said: "I was in jail for three months... for a missing girl." He insisted on taking Kristina to the college internet station, where he showed her accounts of the case. "There were pictures of him in handcuffs — and he was obviously enjoying showing them to me. He seemed to think that was pretty cool. It made me nervous." Then, as they drank beer in a pub called De Hangar on September 23, Joran began to give Kristina his version of what happened to Natalee."He said that she approached him in Carlos 'N' Charlie's bar and bought a couple of rounds', " Kristina said.Joran revealed that Natalee lay on the bar and invited him to lick a "jelly shot" — vodka frozen in jelly — from her navel."He said Natalee then asked him, 'Do you want to go home with me? and Joran said okay'," Kristina added. In a dramatic new twist, Joran then claimed that after leaving the bar, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe drove him and Natalee to his home — not to the beach. Kristina said: "They went to his home for a while and then to the Holiday Inn, where she was staying."They decided to go for a walk on the beach, and the Kalpoes left. He told me, 'Natalee was totally wasted, and I was drunk. We had sex on the beach'."Yet in a TV interview recorded just a day later, Joran denied having sex with Natalee and claimed they just "cuddled."Said Kristina: "He went on, 'Afterwards I asked her if she wanted to go home with me because I had to get up early for school. She said she didn't want to go back there. I told her I had to go, and asked if I could walk her home. She said, 'No — I want to be on my own. I'm staying here.' I left her and went home."Kristina added: "Joran continued, 'I felt guilty leaving her on the beach. I probably shouldn't have done that, but she wouldn't walk back with me. I had to lie about what happened to the girl because I was the last person to see her. If the lie had been kept up, none of this would have happened'."To read the rest of this article, pick up this week's issue of The national Enquirer.
