__:__ AM or PM (?) = Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT may or may not have left his office. In his June 18, 2005 statements to ARUBAN Police Detectives he intimated that he normally leaves his office sometime in the middle of the day, supposedly, to go to his home and eat. In his June 18, 2005 statements he gave to ARUBAN Police Detectives he stated “I cannot remember any more if I came home to eat in the middle of the day because that too was different on different days.”
????Did Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT leave his office during mid-day? Do co-workers remember if he left his office or not?
????If Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT did leave his office, what time did he leave his office?
????If Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT did leave his office, has it been confirmed or not confirmed via security video cameras that he took a driving route to his home, or did he drive a route away from his office to some where other than his home?
????If Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT did leave his office, has it been confirmed or not confirmed via security video cameras that he took a driving route back to his office from his home, or a did he drive a route back to his office from some where other than his home?

On some date in June 2005, while the 2 security guards were under arrest (and before their late evening release on June 13, 2005), Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s lawyer, ANTONIO CARLO, spoke to one of the security guards, despite the fact that the security guards already each had an attorney.

On 6-13 the following ARUBAN Police statement detailing support for requesting a search warrant was written by ARUBAN Police “under-inspector” SAMBO:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

PROCES-VERBAAL Signee, Julio Cesar SAMBO, under-inspector first class with the Korps Politie Aruba, also operational commander and assigned to District II, declares the following. On June 9th 2005 at approximately 05.45 hours, at the location of Montanja number 19, was arrested the man: ---------Joran Andreas Petrus van der SLOOT---------- Born in the Netherlands on August 6th 1987, student and living at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX on Aruba. There also was a search of the appartement of J.A.P. van der SLOOT performed and goods were impounded in the interest of further investigations. During the interviews with the suspect van der SLOOT and his fellow suspects there were contradictory statements about among others the dropping off of the girl, this has raised suspicions that the missing girl “Natalee” very likely could have been at/near the apartment of van der SLOOT. Because of this (suspicion) there are grounds to further search/investigate the appartement and to forensically process the car's of the parents. Of this I have made this proces-verbaal closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 13th 2005. the reporting officer J.C. SAMBO

On 6-13 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT made the following statements to JAN VAN DER STRATEN, the ARUBAN Police commissioner and good friend of his father, former judge-in-training, and Future Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT :
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

Proces-verbaal findings I, Jan van der STRATEN, Police chief with the Aruban Police Corps, state the following. On Monday June 13th 2005, at approximately 13.00 hours I spoke informally with the suspect Joran Andreas Petrus v/d SLOOT at the Police station in Oranjestad. On my question to Joran whether he can tell me what happened after the girl had fallen asleep on the beach near Fisherman's Hut, he answered: “I called DEEPAK and he came with two dogs. I think he raped the girl and did something to her.” To my question where the girl was buried then, he answered: “I think that it was buried then next to the wall of the Fisherman's Hut, for the rest I would not know either.” During the conversation Joran showed differing emotions. Sometimes he cried, sometimes he was direct in his answers. Joran also indicated that he was very sorry for his family and that he had the best contact with his father. When I asked him why did he lie to his father about the Holiday Inn, Joran answered that he had disappointed his father in/with that. Of this I reported on my oath as officer on June 17th 2005. J. van der STRATEN

On 6-13 Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to “just asking”)

Proces Verbaal
We, JM Erasmus (constable first class)and J. Ehrique (head constable), both working at the Aruba Police Force, common crime department district II, state the following:At June 13, 2005, around 9.15 a.m. interrogated suspect S.S. Kalpoe. Before we started the interrogation we told him he was not obligated to give a statement and that we would tape the interrogation. He made the following statement, written down, in Dutch: “Before the interrogation started I was informed I did not have to answer. Although I know this I am prepared to give a statement. On May 31, 2005 I was called to the police, as a witness, regarding the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. I stated Deepak, Satish and I dropped Natalee on May 30, 2005 during the night (after 00.00 hrs) at the Holiday Inn. I also told the police Natalee walked, at the Holiday Inn, to a guard and we drove off. We made this statement about Natalee leaving the car at Holiday Inn up. We did not drop her off at the HI in the night of May, 30,2005.At no time Natalee walked to a guard. The statement I gave about this is not the truth. On May 30, 2005, around 01.15 a.m., Joran, Natalee, Deepak and I came out of Carlos & Charlie. My brother Deepak left just a few moments ahead of us, to get the car. Together we drove in Deepak´s car, after first driving around in town a bit, in the direction of the lighthouse. From the lighthouse we drove to the HI. Before we arrived at the Marriot Hotel, Joran told us to make a right turn. My brother took the right turn and we drove into that street. At the end of the street my brother turned the front of the car to the south and stopped the car. Joran and the girl both left the car on the right back side. After they closed the door of the car they hugged and walked into the direction of the beach at the Marriot Hotel. We drove home. Along the way home, east of Marriot, I asked my brother to stop the car for a moment. He stopped and I threw out the Carlos & Charlie´s cups. The cup I got in C & C was from the drink “Yard”. After that we drove to our home. When we got home I went to sleep right away. I don´t know what my brother went to do. In the morning, at 6.30 a.m. my mother woke me up so I had to go to school. I told her I would not have classes that early and that my classes would start at 11.00 a.m.My mother was then going to wake me up at 10.30 a.m. She though overslept and did not wake me up. I woke up around 12.00 noon. My brother woke up around 1 p.m. I asked him how Joran did get home during the night. He told me Joran had called him while walking in the direction to his home. He told me Joran told him he walked bare feet because he left the shoes at the beach. Then I asked my brother how the girl was doing. He told me Joran told him he left the girl behind at the beach. That day Joran did not tell my brother exactly when had happened on the beach. Specification about that I got on Wednesday. On May 30, 2005, during the afternoon, my brother and I did not further talk about Joran. Around 3.45 p.m. I brought my brother to his work at Sea Port Market Place. During the rest of the day I did not hear from Joran. Around 11 p.m. I picked my brother up from his work and we went home. When we arrived home my brother told me he was going to the casino because Joran was waiting there for him. I stayed home and went to sleep at 00.30 a.m. Between 2.30 and 3.00 a.m. at home I was called by my brother Deepak on my mobile phone XXXXXXX. He called me from his mobile phone, with the number XXXXXXX. My brother told me Joran just got a phone call from his father because the police stood in front of his house. They said it was about the girl. Joran also told my brother his father (Joran´s) had told him people in front of the house were Americans. My brother told me he and Joran immediately thought it was about the girl from Sunday. My brother told me he would call me back later to tell me how things went. After that I could no longer sleep. After 15 or 30 minutes my brother called me again on my mobile phone. He told me there was a possibility the girl was missing and that we had to invent a lie. My brother told me he and Joran decided to tell the police they dropped the girl at the HI. My brother asked me if it would be possible for me to tell this same story. I told me brother I would tell the police as well we left the girl behind at the HI. My brother told me he and Joran decided to tell that they went to the HI and that the girl opened the door of the car and fell out of it and that Joran helped her to get up. My brother told me then he would call me back later. I don´t know why it was not possible for my brother to continue our conversation at that moment. After about 10 minutes he called me back again. He asked me to add to my statement the fact that we saw the girl walking towards the lobby of the hotel and that she spoke with a black man. My brother also told me I had to say that the man wore black clothes and a walkie talkie. My brother asked me to tell this to the police in case they came to our home. I didn´t go to sleep afterwards and laid in my bed waiting for my brother to call again. Because it took too long before my brother called me, I decide to call him at 6.15 a.m. I got him on the line. I asked him where he was. My brother told me he wa son his way home. 10 minutes after this call he came home. He immediately came to my room. I asked right away what was going on. My brother told me the girl we and Joran dropped off at Marriot Hotel beach is missing. I asked my brother how this was possible. It seemed strange to me. I had seen the girl a day before that and now she was missing. My brother also told me the police and the girl´s family members, together with an FBI agent came to Joran´s house. According to my brother an uncle of the girl became aggressive when he learned my brother was the driver of the car. Joran´s father asked the people to leave. My brother also told me the mother of the girl showed him a photo of her and asked him where she was. Because I had to go to school we decided to further discuss the matter after school. My brother went to sleep. After I spoke to him I sent Joran a message (sms). In this message I asked him to inform me about the situation. Around 7.15 a.m. my father brought me to school. During the time I was at school I never sent messages to people or called people. I was never called during that time either but I can´t remember if I received a sms or not. After school my dad picked me up. Around 12.45 p.m. I got home. I went straight to my brother´s bed room. He was awake. In his bedroom we discussed what we would tell the police. After that I ate. Straight after that, around 2.30 p.m. my brother was called by the police. He told me he had to go to the police station. I stayed home. During the time he was at the police station I was on line at my computer. Around 5 p.m. two police men, in civil dress, came to my home. I was watching TV. The pmen asked me to join them to the police station. At the station I saw my brother making a statement. After he was finished I was asked to testify as a witness. After I told the police what happened that night, they took me to drive the route I spoke about earlier. I had to point the spot where Deepak stopped the car at the HI, to drop Natalee off. I showed the police the place at the HI where my brother stopped the car and where Natalee got out of the car. I have to tell you we ( with the 3 of us ) did not make an agreement about what to tell about this specific spot where the car had stopped at the HI. After I showed them the route they brought me home. When I came home my brother was not home. I called him on his mobile phone and he told me he was with Joran. At that night I did not speak to Deepak again. On Wednesday June 1, 2005 I wenr to school in the morning and came home around 2.30 p.m. When I came home my brother Deepak was home. Around that time the police called him for driving the same route. I asked my brother what he and Joran told the police that we had stopped the car at the HI in order to let Natalee get out of the car. I told him then what I had pointed as the spot where we stopped at the HI. My brother then went to the police station Bubali. At Bubali both of us was asked, separately, to join the ride we thought was the route. I told the police I had done that already yesterday. I understood they did not know that and we had to do it over again. After we drove the route we went back to Bubali. I called my brother Deepak to pick me up. When he picked me up we went straight to the racket club, near Marriot. My brother told me we were going to Joran. He is an intern at the club. In front of the entrance of the club the 3 of us met and talked. We talked about what happened. Joran told him the police called him to take him to drive the route. We told him which route we drove so he knew where to go. We spoke for about 15 minutes. We did not speak long because the police was on its way to pick up Joran. After that we drove straight home. At home my brother and I finished our sister´s home work. It had to be finished the next day. As we were busy my brother got a phone call from Joran. My brother told me we had to go to Joran´s later on. After we finished our sister´s work we went to Joran. I drove the car to his house.Joran´s parents were also in his appartment. His mother arrived that day from Holland. She wanted to know everything. We told her what had happened. We didn´t tell his parents the truth. We told them the story we made up. His mother did not want us to stay long. We left after an hour. We drove straight home. We arrived home around 11 p.m. My brother and I decided to inform our parents when they got back from work. On Thursday June 2, 2005 around 00.30 a.m. we told our parents about what happened. We sat at the porch behind our house. We told our parents the made up story. The story in which we dropped the girl at HI. During the days after that Thursday, we met Joran more often to discuss the case of Natalee. I have to tell though, we could never talk alone because Joran´s father came between us all the time, to hear what we had to say. Joran´s father wanted to know everything but we did not tell him the truth. Accept Freddy, nobody knew we left Joran and the girl behind at the Marriot Beach. To answer your question whether Joran drives his parent´s car every now and then, I can say, he has no driver´s license. His parents do not allow him to drive the car and he even does not do that in secret. Joran can drive a car, however. He once drove my mother´s car. I have only contact with Freddy during the weekends, when we go out.Normally during the week I have no contact with Freddy. Only when we go out in the weekend. To answer your question when it was the last time Deepak´s car was cleaned: the last time Deepak and I cleaned the car it was Sunday May 29, 2005, during the evening. The car is cleaned once a week. Usually by me. The car wash usually takes place on Fridays and Saturdays during the afternoon. Sunday May 29, 2005 was the only exception. But the cleaning happened, as I said, by the ants that entered the car (this is a sentence I do not understand, he probably means he cleaned the car on this exceptional day because of ants in the car, MV). S. S. Kalpoe. After we read Kalpoe´s statement to him, he substained in it. Though he stated he did not want to sign it without his lawyer having read it first. Erasmus and Boezem, officers under oath, have put this statement on paper and signed it, Oranjestad, June 13, 2005.

On 6-13 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to “just asking”)

Part 1PROCES-VERBAAL Statement Murder Suspect D.S. KALPOE We, Clyde Anthony BURKE and Shaniro Baldrik KELLY, respectively sergeant first class and sergeant with the Korps Politie Aruba and both detached to the section Often occurring crimes District 11, declare the following. On June 13th 2005 at about 10:20 hours, we, the reporting officers, interviewed the suspect D.S. KALPOE, for further information.. Before the interview/interrogation started the suspect D.S. KALPOE was informed that he was not obliged to answer the questions. and that his statement would be recorded on videotape. The statement he made in dutch was transcribed and went as follows. "To your question as to what I did on Monday June 30th 2005, I will say the following. On that Monday in question, I woke up around 13.30 hours. When I got out of my room, I saw that Satish had also come out of his room. Our mother came up to us and was angry and talked to us about the fact that we went out and that Satish now hadn't gone to school. I walked through the living room and had turned on the television. My brother joined me there and we watched the television. At some point I got up and went to my mother and asked her if the school of Satish had indeed called about him. After this I went back to my room and switched on the computer. I immediately went on "msn" and started chatting with my boss and my co-worker. It is a habit of mine that I switch on my computer and go to “msn” when I get home. After that I left my room and bathed. After this I ate. At about 15.30 hours, my brother drove me to work with my car because I do not want to park my car in the parking lot/parking space. After that I started working. . At about 18.00 hours, I called Joran on his mobile phone. I had called him with the telephone from where I work. The phone number there is 588xxxx. I asked Joran, how he was doing and if he had gone to school. I forgot what he told me, but I asked him subsequently what he was doing now. Joran told me that he at that moment in time was in the casino of the Wyndham and that he was there together with our friend Guido. I do not know Guido's last name. I do know that he works at the Excelsior Casino as a dealer, I told Joran that I would call later and after that I hung up the phone. Then I continued working. At about 23:00 hours, I called Joran again on his mobile phone using the telephone of my workplace. I asked him again how he was doing and what he was doing. Joran told me that he was in the Raddison casino together with Guido. I had told him that I would be coming to where he was. Joran asked me, are you going to come? I said to him, yes, I am going to come. After this I hung up the phone. I have to remark that there was a chance that I called my brother on his mobile phone with the telephone from my workplace. Sometimes I do that and sometimes I don't. I do not know if I did it that day. At about 23:05 hours, my brother came and picked me up with my car. We then drove home. My brother was driving the car. We took the main road to our house. On the way home, I told Satish that Joran was at the casino and that i was going to meet him there. My brother wanted to come too. I told him he wasn't allowed to come, I also told him that he hadn't gone to school and that I didn't want any problems/trouble with my mother. Between 23:25 hours and 23:35 hours, we arrived home. Satish got out of the car and I got behind the steering wheel. After that I drove through town to the Raddison Casino. At about 00:00 hours, I had arrived at the Raddison Hotet. I parked my car in the parking lot and walked to the casino. When I got inside, I saw that Joran was in the poker room and that he was playing at a table. I saw that Guido was seated at another poker table also playing poker, I had seen another friend Andre who was also in the poker room. I do not know the surname of Andre. Andre was not playing poker. At some moment in time Andre had come over to where I was and had greeted me. Andre asked me to come inside. I did go inside. I did not play, but did look at the cards of Joran and Guido. At some given moment in time a tourist who was sitting at Joran's table got angry. The tourist thought that we were looking at the cards of other players and signaling/deciding for Joran when he should play or not. It lead to a disagreement between Joran and the tourist. The manager of the Radisson Casino came over and everything calmed down. I drank about four "whisky coke" gedronken in the Radisson Casino. I now that Joran drank more because the waiters were constantly bringing him drinks .I am not sure .what he was drinking. His drinks were of a yellow colour. I think it was “whisky soda" or 'Whisky water". At about 02:15 hours, we, that is Andre and me said to Joran that this wasn't fun anymore/we weren't having fun anymore and that he should cash in his chips so that we could leave. Joran was in agreement and went to cash in his chips. After this Joran exited the poker room and went to the bathroom. When he was done the four of us went into the casino and stood there. We had been talking about the tourist that had been looking for trouble. Because all of the blackjack tables in the casino were full, Joran and I decided to go to the Wyndham Casino. Guido had said that he was going home and that he would drop off Andre at his place. Joran and me walked to my car that was parked on the parking lot. We got into the car and we drove to the Wyndham Hotel.
Part 2When I was parking my car in the parking lot, Joran's phone went off. Joran had said Paul. So I knew that it was Joran's father. Joran answered to phone and signalled me to turn the volume down of the music. That is what I did. I had also put my car into park. Joran talked a short while with his father. I only heard him say: yes, OK, that's allright. After this Joran closed the phone. Joran turned to me and said that the Police was at his house and that it had been his dad on the phone just now. Joran said that it was about a girl that we went out with last night. Joran looked at me and said: “Shit, that is the same girl we went out with last night”. Then he said at the same time: “what is up with this/wrong with this fucking bitch”. After that Joran said to me: “Hey, look. If the Police asks about it then we will just say we went away with the girl from Carlos & Charlies, that we did a bit of a road-trip, that he kissed and fingered her, that she fell asleep in the car, that we dropped her off at the Holiday Inn, that she had fallen down, that he had helped her up and that she walked off”. I said to Joran that it was OK, it was fine. Joran than said to me, let's go home. We then drove from the Wyndham Hotel to Joran's house. At approximately 02:40 uur, we had arrived at his house, but no-one was there. Joran phoned his father. The father had left with the Police to meet with us at the Wyndham. Joran's father told him to stay at the house and that he was going to come back to the house now. I had turned up the volume of the music in my car to loud. At some point the woman that lives next door to Joran came out and called Joran over to her. The neighbor told Joran to turn the volume down of the music, she had a baby in the house and the music was too loud. Joran came over to me and told me to turn the volume down. Then borrowed Joran's phone and called Satish. I told Satish what Joran had told me. The conversation lasted about 3 to 4 minutes. After about 10 minutes Joran phoned Satish. Joran verified with Satish if he remembered the story correctly. Joran talked to Satish about 3 minutes. We waited approximately another 7 minutes. Joran's father came together with the Police, a white van with the family and a green Yaris. I think the mother of the girl was in the back of the Yaris. The officers approached us. They had separated us. I am not sure who she was, but a woman came up to us with a picture and asked us if we had gone out with this girl yesterday. I said yes. I think Joran also said yes. After that the Police asked us what exactly had happened. I then told the Holiday Inn story to the Police officer. That was the made up story. After that I asked the officer what exactly was the matter. The officer answered that the girl had gone missing. After that my conversation with the officers ended and they went to talk to Joran. Joran had told his story. One of the family members said in English to Joran that he was lying/not telling the truth and that they saw Joran and the girl on the videocamera's of the Windham casino earlier that afternoon. Then I asked like if she was missing or that they saw her on the camera. An American man said to me: "Yes, because you two assholes went out with her yesterday and now she is missing", (loosely translated: Yes, because you two butts went out with her yesterday and now she is missing). Then Joran's father got angry and said to the man in English: *You are out of your jurisdiction" (loosely translated by reporting officer: You are outside of you jurisdiction). The Police then calmed the situation down. After that the family wanted us to go with the Police to show them the route we drove. Joran's father refused. I also said no. After that the Police officers said it was nonsense to drive out to the light house at that moment in time. The family then asked if we could go to the Holiday Inn to point out the security guard that worked there to the Police. I have to admit/remark that I had made up the story with the security guard. Joran had acted a bit difficult, but we decided to go to the Holiday Inn. I had locked my car. Me and Joran and his dad got into the back of the Police car. We drove to Police station Noord. I guess they were asking for permission. Then we drove from the Police station to the Holiday Inn. Between 03:20 hours and 03:25 hours, we had arrived at the Holiday Inn Hotel. When we arrived there, the Police officer(s) went to the manager of the security guards to try and get the details of the security guards that worked at the hotel. We had remained outside in front of the entrance. We just waited. Joran and his dad were talking at the Police car. I could not hear what they were saying. I stood at one of the concrete beam/pillar in front of the lobby. The man who had driven the green Yaris called me to come over to where he was. I went over to him. The man was sitting in the car. The man asked me in Papiamentu whether or not the story we told was true. I said yes to him. During the conversation I had with him I had for one reason or another shot my mouth off and said something about the sporting shoes. The man asked me what I meant by sporting shoes. I then said to him that I was thinking about something unrelated/different. Then I said to him that it was annoying/bothersome, because my mother was waiting for me. The man asked me if I wanted to call my mother. I said to him, yes, but I don't have any more minutes. The man then asked me for the number. I gave the man Satish's number. The man punched in the numbers and gave the phone to me. Satish answered the phone. I pretended that it was my mother on the line. I told Satish: “Mommy, I am now at the Holiday Inn but I will be home soon”. The reason I gave Satish's number is because I didn't want to talk to my mother. I wanted to get away from the Holiday Inn as soon as possible. The reason I wanted to leave is because I knew that the security guard didn't exist. We were never at the Holiday Inn. When I handed the phone back to the man, I saw the mother of the girl for the first time. She was in the back of the car. Then I asked the man since when the girl was missing. The man answered me since that afternoon. At one point Joran came and stood with us. Joran looked into the car and asked the man in the car whether the woman in the back was the mother. The man answered him, yes. Joran walked to the mother. Joran asked her if she was the mother. The mother kept looking seriously at Joran and said, yes. Joran had said to the mother in English that she should believe him and that he hadn't done anything bad to/with her daughter. The woman looked angrily at Joran and said to him that she knew that it had been him on the camera of the casino together with the girl and that it had been Joran with whom she went to Carlos & Charlies and that they hadn't seen on the camera of the lobby that we had brought her back, contradictory to what we had claimed/said. The woman asked Joran again what he had done with her daughter. Joran said he had done nothing. The woman answered Joran that she didn't believe him and that he was going to suffer for this. After that Joran said to her that he would help her anyway possible to help her get her daughter back. Then we walked to the lobby. Joran went and stood with his father. There were also a few men at the hotel who said they were from the FBI. There was also a woman who was looking for something in the papers from the hotel. I went and sat on one of the bar stools that were in the lobby. The whole process of looking and talking lasted to approximately 05.45 hours. Joran's father had then said that Joran needed to go to school and the Police also that shouldn't happen like that and that the family members should go to the Police and file a missing persons report. Joran and me got back into the Police car. Joran's father remained behind and spoke with the family members and the people who said they were from the FBI. I had seen from the window of the car that Joran's father greeted the people and then he walked to the Police car. Then we drove off in the Police car. That is the last time I saw the family members of the missing girl in person. The Police officers drove from the Holiday Inn to Joran's house. The Police had dropped us off at Joran's house. One of the Police officers in the car said that he knew Joran, he had been to Joran's house once, because someone had thrown a brick through his window. We then went to Joran's room because Joran's dad wanted to talk to us so we sat down on the floor, because Joran's mattresses were on the floor in his room. Joran's father said to us, see boys what kind of problems this had caused. Then he asked us what we had learned from this. I answered, never offer someone a ride. Joran agreed with me. It was already about 06:10 hours, and I said that it really is late and that I had to go home. I got up and walked to the door. Joran had also said that he had to go to school later. His father had also asked him what time he had to go to school. I didn't hear what answer Joran gave his father. I said my goodbyes and drove home. I went with my car and drove home via the road leading through Paradera. At approximately 06:45 hours, I got home. I had locked my car and walked to the front door. Before I could open the door, Satish had opened the door. When I stepped inside Satish signaled me not to make noise because my mother was still sleeping. We walked to Satish's bedroom. When I got into his bedroom he asked me what precisely was going on. I had told him that the girl that we went out with, had gone missing. And that they are saying that we are the last people with whom the girl was last seen. Then I told him the story of the security guard. That story I hadn't told Satish on the phone. Satish asked me if we were in trouble and I said that I didn't think so because we weren't the ones who had been kissing her. After that Satish said to me that we would talk later, but that he needed to get ready to go to school.. Then I said to him that I would be going to bed too. I walked to my bedroom and turned on my airco and my computer and I went on "msn messenger". I had then turned off the screen of my computer and the loudspeakers. I sat down on my bed, took off my shoes and fell asleep. I was very tired. And that was in the night from Monday to Tuesday. To your question as to what Joran was wearing that day from Monday to Tuesday when he went to the casino, I can say the following. He had on a light blue T-shirt and short trousers. I think the afore mentioned trousers were blue but I am not sure of that. He wore blue slippers. To your question as how Joran addresses his father, I can say the following. Joran addresses his father with his name, he says Paul to him. His mother he does address with “Mama” or “mom”. To your question as to who John Charles CROES is, where he lives and how often I have chatted to him on "MSN", I can say the following. The afore mentioned John lives with his whole family in Miami. I have known him since school. We were together at the MAVO. On Monday Mai 30th 2005 I had chatted with John from about 02:40 to 03:30 hours. We didn't chat continually. From time to time I went and watched some TV. But I am sure that he was online during the time-frame I just mentioned above here. To your question whether Joran is able to drive a car, I can say the following. I know that he is able to drive a car. One time Joran drove my mother's car from the Marriot Hotel to my house. My mother has a Daewoo Nubira modell 1999. He also told me once that he had to drive for his mother, because his mother's foot had been hurting. To your question what car the parents of Joran drive, I can say the following. Joran's father has a red jeep and Joran's mother has a dark blue Hyundai jeep. To your question as to what part Joran's father played in this case, I can say the following. From the story that we had told him, he believed us. To me and my parents he was always polite. When the case of the girl got more serious towards the end of the week, he had asked me whether or not my father had a lawyer. I said to him that he didn't. This was Thursday two weeks ago. He had asked me if I knew a good attorney. I told him that I did not have a lot of experience with attorneys. He said to me that we shouldn't worry about it and that he would find a lawyer for me and my brother. Joran's father told me that same afternoon that he had hired Antoni Carlo to represent Joran. On Friday two weeks ago he had arainged a lawyer for us. That same afternoon approximately 16.30 hours, I had gone with my brother Satish to Joran's house. My mother had also come to Joran's house during her break from work. When my mother arrived, my mother and Joran's dad met for the first time and we went and sat down on the porch. My mother wanted to hear the story from Joran himself before she would believe our story. Joran then told the story about the Holiday Inn. Then Joran's father said to us that the situation could get better but also worse. Joran's father had asked my mother if we had an attorney. My mother said no, because we have never had any problems on Aruba. Joran's father said, wait I will find one for you and went in to get his hand-bag/briefcase. About a minute later he returned with his hand-bag/briefcase. He opened it and took out a piece of paper with several names on it. . Then Joran asked me if I wanted something to drink. I said yes. Joran and Satish got up and went and got something to drink. The father said to us that Oomen was a good lawyer and he picked up his mobile phone and called Oomen. Joran's father briefly spoke to Oomen and they had made an appointment for the next day, to be exact Saturday at 11.00 hours,. The father handed the phone to my mother and my mother had talked to Oomen. To your question whether I returned to pick up Joran near the Marriot Hotel the night that I had dropped him off with the girl, I can say the following. No, I did not go to pick him up again. After I got home, I didn't go out anymore. To your question whether I am sure that Joran and the girl walked off in the direction of the beach after I dropped them off, I can say the following. Yes. Joran got out of the car first. The girl got out on the same side as Joran had gotten out. Hand in hand they walked into the direction of the beach.. To you question whether I can remember anything that Joran told me about everything that happend with the girl, I will say the following. On Tuesday two weeks ago, about 19.00 hours, I went to the house of Joran. Freddie was at the house of Joran. Joran had said to me that he had told Freddie the story about the Holiday Inn and also the truth. Joran had said only Freddy because he is my best friend. I had asked Joran if he did anything with/to* the girl. Joran had told us that he did not do anything with/to* the girl and that the girl had fallen asleep on the beach and that he had left her there. Freddie asked him why he had left his sport-shoes there. I do not know what Joran had said, but he came up with an excuse as to why he had and they he walked outside. Freddie then said to me in Papiamentu, "Eia hasi hopt coi pendew si di faga e mucha eynan" (loose translation by reporting officer. He has done a stupid thing leaving that girl alone on the beach). I answered Freddie that I told him the same thing. Every time we asked him about the shoes, he did not answer. To you question as to whether I am sure that the story of the Holiday Inn was plan A and this statement is plan B, I can say the following. No, no this is the truth. Plan B for me and my brother Satish was to tell the truth. It was no plan. It is just the truth. To your question with what I clean the inside of my car, I can say the following. I just use a vacuum cleaner with the square accessory that has bristles on the end. The colour of the bristles is black. I also cleaned my car several times with another brush with black bristles. That was when the vacuum cleaner was broken. I also use a sort of "Armor All" to clean the car on the inside. It happened twice that someone spilled a drink in my car. Once it was a 'Cherry Coke" that spilled on the seat on the passenger side and where the hand break is. That happened when I was with my brother. The other time someone bumped/crashed into my car from the back while I was holding a "whisky Coke". It fell between my legs, on the seat on the passenger side and on the carpet on the floor at the passenger side. To your question whether the girl threw up/vomited in my car, I can say the following. The girl did not throw up in my car. **can mean both things with/to, without more context unable to say whether it is the one or the other. To your question whether anyone has has ever thrown up in my car, I can say the following. Nobody has ever thrown up/vomited in my car. To your question from whom I bought the car, I can say the following. I bought the car from a man called David GROSS. He works at a company called "Carufa". I must tell you that when they installed the sound in my car, they used a lot of glue and seal/sealant under the carpet of the car. They had to remove the carpets to pull new cables through the car. You can verify this at "Automotive Enterprises". The man who installed it is called Osman OSMAN. I don't know if anyone had an accident/car crash with this car prior to it being sold to me. To your question whether this statement I have now given is truthful, I can say the following. This statement is based 100% on the truth. After I have reviewed the statement with my lawyer, I will sign it. D.S. KALPOE After the suspect D.S. KALPOE had read the statement, he declared to stick with what he declared/persist in what he had declared and signed the statement. . Of this ,we reporting officers, on our oath of office have made this proces-verbaal, closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 13th 2005.

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: … It has been two weeks since 18-year-old Natalee Holloway was reported missing on the Caribbean island of Aruba. Aruba's prime minister says his government is doing all it can to solve the mystery of the missing Alabama teen.Let's head live now to Aruba and Karl Penhaul.Bring us up to date -- Karl.KARL PENHAUL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Carol, as you say, exactly two weeks now since Natalee Holloway disappeared. We, in fact, last night were outside the very same bar at the very same time that Natalee disappeared, and I can tell you that was certainly a very eerie feeling. Now, what law enforcement sources close to this investigation have told us is that they have sent off samples from one of the cars confiscated in this investigation for analysis. They've sent off samples from that car, a sample that resembled blood for analysis at the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia. But what that source has also told us is that sample has come back negative. So nothing conclusive there. Also yesterday, late in the evening, the prime minister of Aruba gave a press conference to tell us what he had to say about the investigation. In that press conference, what he emphatically stated was that nobody on this island would be above the law. That was to calm suspicions that because one of the suspects who was detained on Thursday, a 17-year-old, is the son of one of the island's judges. And so, this is the comment by the prime minister to quash any fears that that would happen. Those three suspects, who were detained on Thursday, were the last three young men to be seen in Natalee Holloway's company, exactly two weeks ago. And over the weekend, a judge ordered that they should be held in custody for a further eight days while police and prosecutors continue with the investigation -- Carol.COSTELLO: Karl, Natalee Holloway's mother talked to the Associated Press. She said the two security guards taken into custody should be let go. She said the three young men who were most recently arrested know exactly what happened to Natalee. Why is she saying that?PENHAUL: What seems to be beyond doubt, Carol, is this: That the moment that Natalee Holloway left the Carlos 'N Charlie's Bar exactly two weeks ago and got into the car with the three suspects -- Juron van der Sloot and brothers Satish and Deepak Kalpoe -- those four people are the only four people who know exactly what happened minute by minute from then. But what the prosecutors are saying is that the first two suspects arrested -- and they were arrested more than a week ago now, the two security guards -- they are not in the clear yet. Prosecutors are still investigating what links they may have had to the case based on statements from the three suspects, who were later arrested on Thursday. They have implicated in some say the two security guards. So that is why they're still being held -- Carol.COSTELLO: Karl Penhaul live in Aruba this morning.

SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Natalee Holloway's mother demanding action in Aruba this morning as the investigation into her daughter's disappearance enters a third week. We have a live report with an update on the evidence in the case.

ALI VELSHI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, lawyers in Aruba today plan to ask for the release of two suspects in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Now, these are two of the five men arrested on the Dutch Caribbean island off of Venezuela. Karl Penhaul is live from Palm Beach, Aruba -- Karl, is there new evidence to link any of these suspects with Natalee's disappearance? KARL PENHAUL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Ali, what we've been hearing from a law enforcement source close to this investigation was that they thought that they did have some new evidence. A sample of what resembled blood was taken from one of the cars confiscated on Thursday. And that sample was sent to an FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia. The source, however, says that sample came back and has come back negative. So what was thought to be new evidence turned out not to be. But as you say, there are five suspects still in custody -- three young men, the ones that were last seen in Natalee Holloway's company exactly two weeks ago. They were arrested Thursday. And two suspects, the security guards who were arrested the week before. They are also still in custody. And the lawyer, as you say, the defense lawyer for one of them is going to lodge an appeal today, we understand, from him. And he's asking the question, obviously, why his client is still in custody. But this is what the government spokesman had to say about that matter. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) RUBEN TRAPENBERG: We don't get the details from the investigation from what we think may be the case, that these three gentlemen are pointing the finger to these two guys. So if they have an alibi they can substantiate where they've been, it may -- they may be released at some point. But that's still ongoing. Today, their lawyer, I have heard, may come with a special appeal so that their case can be considered. (END VIDEO CLIP) PENHAUL: I'll tell you something else, Ali, it's exactly two weeks now since Natalee Holloway disappeared. And I was outside the Carlos & Charlie's Bar, where she disappeared from, around 1:00 last night. That's the time she was last seen. It was a really eerie feeling to think that the minute she walked out of there, only four people know exactly what happened after that, the three suspects now in custody who were in that car with her and herself -- Ali. VELSHI: Karl, are there a lot of people outside of Carlos & Charlie's at that hour of the morning? Is it typical that more people might have known? Could there have been more witnesses? PENHAUL: It's possible. At that time -- the time that Natalee was leaving is also the time that the bar closes. It was a Sunday night coming into Monday morning and that Carlos & Charlie's closes at 1:00 a.m. And at that stage, people tend to pour out. There's a lot of people on the streets while they take cabs and such like. It could be that other people saw them all leave -- Ali. VELSHI: Karl, good to see you. Thank you very much. Karl Penhaul in Aruba -- Soledad.

Mother of Missing Teen in Aruba Speaks Out
MONDAY JUNE 13, 2005 08:00AM EST
By Stephen M. Silverman
Aruba's attorney general and other officials are denying reports that there's been a confession in the case of missing Alabama honors student Natalee Holloway, who was last seen May 30. Meanwhile, Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, is calling for faster action in the case. On Saturday, some U.S. news outlets reported – falsely, it is now being said – that one of the suspects had admitted to authorities that "something bad happened to Natalee." There were also rumors of a murder confession and that a body had been found. But those reports are unsubstantiated, the Associated Press confirms. On Monday morning's Today show, a frustrated but stoic Twitty, 44, said if she does not see results soon, she might start to believe that authorities are trying to protect the three young men. She also thanked the public for its strong support of her family during this crisis. So far, five men have been taken in and questioned by police in the case: two former hotel security guards and three young men. Holloway vanished on May 30 just a few hours before she was expected at the airport to end a five-day trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with 124 classmates and seven chaperones. Police found her passport and packed bags in her hotel room. Prosecutors at first refused to comment on a statement by the deputy police commissioner. He told the Associated Press that one of three young men in police custody had told police Friday night that "something bad happened." Referring to that statement, a prosecution spokeswoman now says, "We neither confirm nor deny any information coming from other sources."

On December 9, 2005 “Riehl World View” reported:

Additionally, I've received other information on what is alleged to be leaked statements from the investigation. I've been told that most such statements and notes are often encrypted in high profile cases and that is the case with most documents from the Holloway case.
At right and below I'll be posting a sample of one of the encrypted documents I've been sent, along with the text of one unencrypted document said to be a statement of Joran van der Sloot - note - while the document text I'll post is obviously translated and not signed, I do have a photographic image of the alleged original in Dutch signed by the Investigators. That document is allegedly what led Investigators to take Joran van der Sloot to the beach one day in handcuffs to identify the location of where he left Natalee Holloway and where he suspected she may have been buried by Deepak Kalpoe. That beach visit resulted in nothing being found, so far as I am aware.
At right is a sample of an encrypted document allegedly leaked from the investigation - and below is the text of the translated document I referenced above.
Pardon typos or poor composition - I hadn't planned on posting anything substantive tonight.

Missing Teen's Mom: Aruba Men 'Know What Happened'
ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- The mother of a missing Alabama teenager said she believes two hotel guards detained in connection with her daughter's disappearance are innocent but three others in custody know what happened to her. Beth Holloway Twitty also said if she does not see results soon, she might start to believe that authorities are trying to protect the three young men.
"All three of those boys know what happened to her," Beth Holloway Twitty said during a 45-minute interview with The Associated Press in her hotel room at the Holiday Inn, the same hotel where 18-year-old Natalee Holloway was staying before she disappeared on May 30. "They all know what they did with her that night."
Holloway Twitty declined to say what she thought the young men had done or whether she thought her daughter was still alive.
The teen vanished hours before she was expected at the airport following a five-day trip to the Dutch Caribbean island with 124 classmates and seven chaperones celebrating their graduation from Mountain Brook High School, near Birmingham, Ala. Her U.S. passport and packed bags were found in her hotel room.
The three young men - the 17-year-old son of a Dutch justice ministry official and two Surinamese brothers - were detained Thursday. The two former guards who worked at a hotel not far from the Holiday Inn have been detained since June 5. Lawyers for all five have insisted their clients are innocent, and no one has been charged in the case.
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber went on national television Sunday night to reaffirm Aruba's commitment to solving the case. Authorities "are doing all that is possible to resolve what happened as soon as possible," he said.
But Holloway Twitty, 44, said she was not satisfied. "I'm not getting any answers," she said. "I don't feel any further along than the day I got here."
Composed but clearly tired, she said she had lost 10 pounds since the search began and was having trouble sleeping. The preschool speech pathologist spoke of drawing strength from her deep faith in God and the support of relatives and concerned Arubaans.
She said she had visited the former guards - Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28 - at one point in their custody and "they looked as surprised as I did with all this."
"I think they are being wrongly held," she said.
The Dutch teenager and the Surinamese brothers have told police they brought Natalee Holloway to a lighthouse beside the island's Arisha Beach, but didn't get out of the car.
The brothers, Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, also told police that Natalee and the Dutch youth had been kissing in the back seat of the car. They said they dropped her off at her hotel about 2 a.m. and last saw her being approached by a man in a security guard uniform before they drove off, a lawyer for the brothers has said.
But Holloway Twitty said that she herself reviewed security videos from the Holiday Inn and has concluded that the young men never brought her daughter back to the hotel.
"That story was a lie," she said.
Defense lawyers for the former guards said there wasn't enough evidence to continue holding them. "This is turning into a game, an illogical investigation," said Noraina Pietersz, who is representing John. "The prosecution is pretending it has information that we don't have."
Attorney General Caren Janssen said that wasn't the case but declined to elaborate. "We are still in the middle of an investigation," she said.
Investigators have said they are pursuing all leads, and Oduber told a news conference last week that "nobody stands above the law."
Islanders and tourists attended church services Sunday to pray for the teen.
Valerie Stanton, a 35-year-old computer technician visiting from Washington, prayed at the Alto Vista chapel outside the capital. "This could happen in any city and it's unfortunate a dark cloud is now over the island because people here are so nice," she said.
At the Santa Ana Catholic Church in the town of Noord, also outside the capital, the Rev. Rudy Lampe told about 300 parishioners to "pray to give the family an oasis of peace."
Holloway Twitty said she will not leave Aruba until her daughter is found.
"I will not be satisfied until they give me back my daughter. I want her and I want her now."

On August 12, 2005 JOSSY MANSUR stated his paper, “Diario,” printed the 6-10 declaration confession of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. He said that this 6-10 declaration-confession was not signed by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , but it is signed by the 4 ARUBAN Police detectives who witnessed Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitting to killing and burying NATALEE. The Diario has been reporting on this document for some time but have been accused by competing local media and Murder Suspects defense lawyers of making it up. The item was published verbatim today. Jossy Mansur assures claims it is a direct copy of the Police document, obtained through one of his sources. It has not been independently verified. Here is the translation of the declaration-confession from Dutch:

The suspect J.A.P. (Joran) van der Sloot walked with us [the Police] a little bit further on and he declared to have suspicions that the suspect D. Kalpoe did bury the girl there somewhere.
According to the suspect J.A.P. van der Sloot , the suspect D. Kalpoe had returned to the girl after having left her sleeping on the beach. To our question to the suspect J.A.P. van der Sloot what he thought had happened between the girl Natalee Holloway and the suspect D. Kalpoe, he declared that he thought that the suspect D. Kalpoe raped and killed the girl.

They claim she asked them to driver her around the island and they then drove her back to her hotel. It is unclear if she ever arrived there. The two Surinamese youths have allegedly told the Police their friend had a sexual encounter with Holloway in the back seat of the car.Holloway's parents later said on American television that human blood was found in the car. Her parents have provided blood samples for a DNA test to confirm whether the blood allegedly found in the car can be linked to their missing daughter.

The three guys never brought her back to Holiday inn” “They went to lighthouse then dropped him and Natalee near Marriott.” “He said she was very, very drunk, under heavy influence of alcohol.” “Left Carlos and Charlie's and went to the lighthouse and then dropped Joran and Natalee at the Marriott.” “Left lighthouse at 2:30.″ “Detectives apologized to me.” “Deepak said he went online and talked to him [ Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ] on cell phone and chat online.” “I was smarter than him. “I got Deepak to trust me.” JOHN thinks he was arrested for being black. (concerning the missing girl) Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN was interrogated in English and the interrogators made him sign a statement written in Dutch. “I need full apology from the Aruban and Dutch Government.” “Deepak looked very calm.” Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN mother spoke to ARUBA radio station “TOP 95” and said she was mad as hell about her son being arrested in the morning, and the ARUBAN Police were very rude to her. Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN was released at night like a thief. The ARUBAN Police told Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN’ mother that she was not allowed to see Current Murder Suspect MICKEY JOHN or talk to him, but, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s mommy was in the jail seeing and speaking with Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. “This is discrimination. They dragged my son out in public, while the whites got to cover themselves.”
TOP95 FM (Aruban radio station) reported on Monday that they have received information about the story that the suspect Joran van der Sloot gave to the police. The radio station got this information from the attorney that is representing the suspect Abraham Jones. Jones is being held at the same location as Joran and he has been hearing/getting information from within the institute. According to the attorney ,Jones declared that Joran is convinced that he is being framed. Joran is saying that he did not go to the lighthouse with the group at all. He testified that after he left the club, he caught a ride home with his Surinamese friends, the brothers Kalpoe. At that time Natalee Holloway was in the car. Joran allegedly testified that the Kalpoes dropped him off at his home and drove off with Natalee in car. It was only afterwards (a few days later), around the swimming pool at his house, that the Kalpoes made plans to come out with one version of the events. But now it seems that they are trying to frame Joran. The attorney also told the radio station that his client has been hearing Joran van der Sloot sobbing a lot lately.

On 6-13 FOX News reported:

Three Murder Suspects in Holloway Case Change Stories
ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Cracks have emerged in the stories of three young suspects in the case of Natalee Holloway, the American teen who vanished in Aruba two weeks ago, FOX News has learned.
The three young men have reportedly changed their stories since being moved to separate jail cells, Chris LeJuez, the lawyer for one of two other men being held in the case, told FOX News.
One of the trio detained since June 9, the Dutch son of a judicial official, is now saying that his two Surinamese friends — who are brothers — dropped him off at his house after he exchanged e-mail addresses with Holloway and said goodnight, LeJuez said.
The brothers have also changed their story, now saying they left their friend with Holloway at the beach that night, FOX has learned.
The Dutch teenager, 17-year-old Joran van der Sloot, and the Surinamese brothers, 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe and 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe, originally told Police they brought Holloway to a lighthouse beside the island's Arisha Beach, but didn't get out of the car.
The Kalpoe brothers also told Police that Holloway and van der Sloot were kissing passionately in the back seat of the car. They said they dropped her off at her hotel about 2 a.m. and last saw her being approached by a black man in a black security guard uniform before they drove off, a lawyer for the brothers has said.
That story led to the June 5 arrest of two black former hotel security guards, 28-year-old Abraham Jones and 30-year-old Antonius "Mickey" John — both of whom are still in custody.
"They know these boys have been lying," Jones' attorney LeJuez told FOX News on Monday, saying his client is in a cell next to van der Sloot's and overheard the boy giving the new explanation. "They should not keep our clients any longer and yet they do."
The mother of the missing girl, Beth Holloway-Twitty, also believes the three more recent detainees aren't telling the truth. She said she herself reviewed security videos from the "Holiday Inn" and has concluded that the three younger men never brought her daughter back to the hotel.
"That story was a lie," she said, adding that she thinks the former guards are innocent. Attorneys for Jones and John said Monday they were seeking a court order to free them.
Holloway-Twitty also said Monday she believes the three young men last seen with her daughter know much more than they are letting on about what happened the night her 18-year-old daughter vanished on the island two weeks ago.
"All three of those boys know what happened to her," Holloway-Twitty said in an interview with The Associated Press in her room at the "Holiday Inn," the same hotel where her daughter was staying before she disappeared early May 30. "They all know what they did with her that night."
Holloway-Twitty, 44, declined to say what her theories were on what happened or whether her daughter was still alive.
She said that if she didn't see results soon, she might start to believe authorities were trying to protect the three, one of whom is the son of a government official.
The three young men were detained Thursday. The two former guards who worked at a hotel not far from the "Holiday Inn" have been in custody since their June 5 arrest. Lawyers for all five have insisted their clients are innocent, and no one has been charged in the case.
A spokesman for Aruba's government, Ruben Trapenberg, told FOX News on Monday that the island country wanted to solve the case as quickly as possible.
"That is the absolute intention," he said. "During the weekend, the investigation went on 24 hours a day. There's no sleeping or taking a break on this case."
But Trapenberg told NBC's "Today" show Monday that officials could not pressure Investigators.
"I'm sure they're doing what they can to solve this case. That's what we have been assured," he said.
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber went on national television Sunday night to reaffirm Aruba's commitment to solving the case. Authorities "are doing all that is possible to resolve what happened as soon as possible," he said.
Holloway-Twitty said she was not satisfied. "I'm not getting any answers," she said. "I don't feel any further along than the day I got here."
There were various conflicting reports over the weekend — most of which were retracted — including one about a semi-confession from one of the three last seen with Holloway and another about a possible blood sample taken from the car she apparently rode around in with them the night she vanished.
The substance tested has turned out not to be blood, FOX News has learned.
Trapenberg blamed the back-and-forth over the weekend on "bad reporting" and advised the media to only print news coming directly from the chief of Police or the prosecutor. And he praised his country for putting a missing-person case at the top of its priority list.
"Things like this just don't happen on Aruba," Trapenberg told FOX Monday.
On Monday, Holloway-Twitty said her complaints were not aimed specifically at the Aruban government, but arose more from her frustration of now knowing what happened to her daughter.
"I feel like they are giving me as much information as they can. Although I am still frustrated because I need answers," she told the "Today" show.
Composed but clearly tired in her Sunday night AP interview, she said she had lost 10 pounds since the search began and was having trouble sleeping. The preschool speech pathologist spoke of drawing strength from her deep faith in God and the support of relatives and concerned Arubaans.
She said she had seen the former guards at one point in their custody and "they looked as surprised as I did with all this."
"I think they are being wrongly held," she said.
The guards' lawyers said Monday they would file motions in court demanding their clients be freed. "The prosecution is pretending it has information we don't have," said attorney Noraina Pietersz.
Holloway-Twitty said she will not leave Aruba until her daughter is found.
"I will not be satisfied until they give me back my daughter. I want her and I want her now."

Sometime by 6-13, while under arrest, and during a joint interrogation together with Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE and Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE in the same Police interrogation room, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT changed his alibi AGAIN, and now claims Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE , Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE , and NATALEE took Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT to his home where while sitting in the car outside the home NATALEE and Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , supposedly, exchanged email addresses and said goodbye (time?), then Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT went into his home and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE and Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE , supposedly, drove NATALEE to the “Holiday Inn.” When Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claims this alibi-lie in during the joint interrogation, it was reported that Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE immediately responded and said, “Why are you lying, Joran?”

On 6-13 the “AP” reported “Beth Holloway-Twitty said she felt three other young men in custody know what happened to her daughter, adding that if she did not see results soon, she might start to believe authorities were trying to protect the three, one of whom is the son of a government official. ‘All three of those boys know what happened to her,’ Holloway-Twitty said Sunday night in an interview with The Associated Press in her room at the "Holiday Inn," the same hotel where her 18-year-old daughter was staying before she disappeared May 30. ‘They all know what they did with her that night.’” “Holloway-Twitty, 44, said she was not satisfied. ‘I'm not getting any answers,’ she said. ‘I don't feel any further along than the day I got here.’” She said she had visited the former guards -- Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28 -- at one point in their custody and ‘they looked as surprised as I did with all this.’ ‘I think they are being wrongly held,’ she said."
On July 25, 2005 JOSSY MANSUR stated that on 6-13, at 7:50 PM, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed ARUBAN Police Interrogators that he has a suspicion of where Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE buried NATALEE. Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed Police interrogators that after NATALEE fell asleep on the “Marriott Hotel” beach, and after Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT left NATALEE alone on the beach when he walked away, he believes that Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE went back to the “Marriott Hotel” beach, raped then murdered NATALEE, then Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE buried NATALEE near the fishermen’s huts. After the interrogators hear this, at about 8:00 PM on 6-13 they took Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT to the “Marriott Hotel” beach where he pointed out to them a beach spot close to the south end of the fishermen’s hut where he left NATALEE. (FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN stated that she knows that JOSSY MANSUR is also working on other information related to these 6-13 claims by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT )
((if these 6-13 claims about Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE were recorded by the 6-13 Police interrogators, and if that 6-13 statement was available to the judge during the hearings--WHY was Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE allowed to go free on 7-4????))
On Nov 2, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT made a written statement to ARUBAN interrogators “very early on” around 6-11, 12, 13, “when they [the 3 boys] were implicating each other” that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT thinks that Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE murdered NATALEE and buried her body. When Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT made that statement, BETH stated that the F.B.I. observers told her that the ARUBAN Police Interrogators asked no followup questions, such as where did Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE bury the body?, where is the body, etc.? BETH also said that statement was signed by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. BETH also said that while Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT was under arrest he made a statement to the ARUBAN Police “I hope she is still alive and is found--not much chance of that.“ On 11-2 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News that a letter was delivered to her at HELEN LeJUEZ’s office shortly after she went there 11-1. The letter was from ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN “saying she would not have time on her agenda to meet with me this week.”
On 6-13 Dutch newswire this morning (CET) reports that the DUTCH government sent two ‘experts’ to ARUBA. The ARUBA Justice Department refused to elaborate on the field of expertise. ARUBAN Police commissioner VAN DER STRATEN said, “I cannot tell you more, because then it is obvious in which way the investigation is going.” According to STRATEN the DUTCH experts will do very detailed work, and didn’t bring search and rescue dogs.
On 6-13 FOX News RIVERA reported he just got off the phone with the Justice Minister RUDY CROES, and that CROES said there would a “resolution to the case momentarily.”
On 6-13 the “Birmingham News” quoted BETH, “I have complete trust and faith in God, that he is taking care of Natalee. I believe that he will deliver Natalee to me, and I believe there will be a resolution to this.”
On 6-13 FOX News reported “One of the trio detained since June 9, the Dutch son of a judicial official, is now saying that his two Surinamese friends — who are brothers — dropped him off at his house after he exchanged e-mail addresses with Natalee Holloway and said goodnight, Lejuez said. The brothers have also changed their story, now saying they left their friend with Holloway at the beach that night, FOX has learned.”
On 6-13 the lawyer of suspect ABRAHAM JONES, CHRIS LeJUEZ stated the following:
Two suspects: Joran van der Sloot and Abraham Jones were/are detained in the same cellblock at the Police department in Noord. It is here that a crying suspect, Joran van der Sloot supposedly commented to another suspect, Abraham Jones the following:He is very preoccupied because he thinks that the other two Surinamese suspects might be lying and blaming him for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
His new story is that they (with they, I mean the two other suspects) dropped him off at his home, with Natalee Holloway still in the car, further he and Natalee exchanged e-mail address and that was the last time he saw her.
He also added that the story that he told the officials was orchestrated at his home, near the pool. On 6-13 there is unconfirmed reports that 2 DUTCH experts are on their way to help in the investigation of the disappearance of NATALEE HOLLOWAY.
On October 2, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News, "The sad part about this is a lot of this is not new. Police have known since the beginning that Joran took my daughter to his home. They have known that, they had statements as early as June 13th. There has been no secret about this.” “Julie, you are not going to believe this, but do you know that forensics were never done at the primary residence. Even though Joran gave a state to the Police that he took my daughter to his home on May 30th at 1:40 am. Absolutely not, forensics were never done at the primary residence of the van der Sloot home. That is why there is never any evidence.”
On 6-13 JOHN and JONES were released. JONES was released after his wife and mother testified that JONES was home sick all day 5-29 and 5-30 and wife was continuously with JONES.
On 6-13 ODUBER stated that Aruba's government "is doing the utmost" to find Holloway, and the government hopes to find NATALEE Holloway alive, and praying that there is nothing bad that has happened to her. While expressing "deep concern" over Holloway's fate, the government also sought to reassure the media that the island is safe for visitors, noting that more than 60 percent of Aruba's income comes from tourism and more than 45,000 Arubaans work in that industry. "That's why we make an appeal to our local press and international press that the government and everybody involved will do the job,” ODUBER said." While making the previous statements, there are also local Aruba news reports that Aruba officials are forming a committee with a focus only on how to protect the image of Aruba. (no focus on helping to find NATALEE) Claimed that ODUBER has asked the Dutch Netherlands government for Dutch Netherlands professional personnel help. (so far, no reports of Dutch professionals arriving to help).
On 6-13 the focus on Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE , and Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE in custody intensifies, amid suggestions from BETH that they might be being protected by the ARUBAN Police, and/or ARUBA government, and/or other high-society ARUBAAN's.
On 6-13 a second "Wall of Hope and Prayer" is built, standing 8 feet tall and 28 feet wide. On the left hangs a plaque with "Hope" written on it, and on the right hangs a plaque with the word "Prayer" written on it. People have left gifts for NATALEE, including yellow flowers, which lined the ground along the wall. Several candles burn beside photographs of HOLLOWAY and her family members. At noon on weekdays, the church hosts a daily prayer time where people can come to the church and pray for NATALEE, “Mountain Brook Community Church” associate pastor Kevin Delaney said. Delaney said the church has been offering encouragement and counseling to people who need it. (NATALEE does not attend that church) To send an e-mail to NATALEE HOLLOWAY's family, write to NATALEE@inline.com. The “Mountain Brook Community Church” is located at 3001 UNITED STATES 280 in Birmingham, Alabama. The church's phone number is 802-7070.

On 6-13 CNN reported:

Aruba releases two security guards
Had been held in case of missing teen
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (CNN) -- Authorities in Aruba have released two security guards arrested in the disappearance of an Alabama teen late last month.
Abraham Jones, 28, and Mickey John, 30, who work at a beachfront hotel near where Natalee Holloway was staying, were arrested in the case on June 5 but were never charged.
Holloway, 18, was discovered missing May 30. Three men remain in custody in the case -- none of them formally charged as yet.
Police have identified the three men still in custody as brothers Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and their friend, Joran van der Sloot, 17, the son of an Aruban judge. The attorneys for each have said their client claims innocence.
The three young men told Police they took Holloway to a beach after leaving an Oranjestad nightclub with her early May 30, when she was last seen. They said they returned her to her hotel not long afterward.
Holloway, from the Birmingham, Alabama, suburb of Mountain Brook, was in Aruba with classmates who were celebrating their graduation from high school.
On Sunday, law enforcement sources close to the investigation said a substance found in a Honda seized after three of the men were arrested Thursday is not blood, based on a sample analyzed at an FBI laboratory in Quantico, Virginia.
On Monday, Prime Minister Nelson Oduber said Aruba's government "is doing the utmost" to find Holloway.
"We hope that we will find Natalee Holloway alive, and are still praying that there is nothing bad that has happened to her," Oduber said Sunday.
Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, told The Associated Press on Sunday that she believes the three young men still being held in the case "know what happened to her." She also said the two security guards should be released.
While expressing "deep concern" over Holloway's fate, Oduber also sought to reassure the media that the island is safe for visitors, noting that more than 60 percent of Aruba's income comes from tourism and more than 45,000 Arubaans work in that industry.
"That's why we make an appeal to our local press and international press that the government and everybody involved will do the job," he said.
The search for Holloway was scaled back during the weekend, with teams venturing out only after receiving credible tips and coast guard patrols off shore.
CNN's Karl Penhaul contributed to this report.

On 6-13 AL.com” reported:

Holloway’s family frustrated with lack of informationARUBA — The family members of a missing Mountain Brook woman say they are frustrated with the amount of information being released by police, but are determined as ever to get answers. Natalee Holloway, 18, disappeared two weeks ago during a senior trip to Aruba with more than 100 recent Mountain Brook High School graduates. Thousands of volunteers and several investigative agencies have searched the Caribbean island, and police have arrested five men in the case, but what happened to Holloway remains a mystery. Holloway’s mother, Beth Twitty, said the family remains hopeful, but is shifting some of its energy from the search to the investigation. She said the family is talking to lawyers to ask about procedures for extraditing suspects in case her daughter is not found alive. “I’m taking her home no matter what,” Twitty said, adding that the family wants resolution. The family plans to hand out more fliers this afternoon. Meanwhile, police today said they were continuing their investigation and provided no new information.Hannah Wolfson

On 6-14 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

PROCES-VERBAAL (sixth statement of suspect)We, Dennis Domenico JACOBS and Luigi Angelo Giovanni CROES, head officer and officer first class of the Aruban Police Force, first mentioned attached to the Robbery Project Team (Atraco Team) and last mentioned attached to the section often occurring crime District 2, state the following. On June 14th, at approximately 10.00 hours, we the reporting officers, interviewed the suspect Joran Andreas Petrus van der SLOOT born in Arnhem, the Netherlands on August 6th 1987, without occupation student (International School of Aruba) and living Montanja 19 in Aruba, for further information. His statement was made in dutch and was transcribed by me, CROES and goes as follows,Before we, the reporting officers, started the interview, I , CROES, notified the suspect that he was not obliged to make a statement. I also informed him that this statement was being recorded on tape. You have just old me that you wanted to ask me about times. I can state the following. When we, on May 30th, stopped in Deepak's car in front of my house, it was about 01.40 am. At that moment in time Deepak, Satish, Natalee and myself were in Deepak's car. When Natalee and myself were dropped off at the Marriot Hotel by Satish and Deepak it was approximately 01.50 am. After we were dropped off Natalee and myself walked to the beach in front of the Marriot Hotel. While we were walking I noticed there was sand in my shoes. I took off my shoes and my socks. I had placed my socks in my shoes and walked with my shoes in my hand further on the beach. Natalee and myself stood for a short while at the waters edge and kissed. At that moment in time Natalee told me that she liked Aruba. She also said to me that she wanted to see sharks. I told her that there were no sharks around Aruba. She kept on asking me where she was from. I had told her that I didn't know. Natalee asked me this about five or six times. Natalee also told me that she was really good at French kissing and that she wanted to stay alone with me and French kiss. Natalee then told me again that her mother was the sister of "Hitler". Then Natalee and myself started walking in the direction of the Holiday Inn Hotel. On the way there Natalee told me that she didn't want to go to the hotel but wanted to go into the other direction. So we turned around and walked into the other direction, meaning in a northerly direction. A little further along we sat down on the beach. It was close to the waters edge in front of the Marriot Hotel. There I had placed my shoes on the sand. We started French kissing and talking there. At some moment in time Natalee had told me that she wanted to go into another direction. We stayed about five (5) minutes on the beach in front of the Marriot Hotel. Then we stood up hand in hand. After that we walked in the direction of Fisherman's Huts/ On the way there I told Natalee that the stars were beautiful. Natalee told me that there were no stars. I was walking on the side of the waters edge. We once French kissed with each other but that wasn't easy. It wasn't easy because we were walking. Natalee had asked me how far we were from the North Coast. I told Natalee that we weren't going to walk to the North Coast because it was too far away. I estimate that it took approximately about 4 to 5 minutes to walk from the Marriot to Fisherman's Huts. When Natalee and myself arrived at the first building of Fisherman's Huts Natalee told me that we should go and sit on the beach. We sat down on the beach next to each other and then we had went on each other. We had dry sex with each other. I was lying on the sand she she was sitting on me and pretended like we were having sex. I had told Natalee that I didn't have any condoms on me. Natalee than said to me that it was better if we had no sex with each other. After that Natalee put her hand down my pants and masturbated me. I had then opened my trousers so that my penis could come out to make it easier. While Natalee was masturbating me she told me to tell her before I came so that I wouldn't come on her because she didn't want that to happen. Before I came I told her so. When I came, I came into my own hands. I stood up and washed my hands in the sea. I then walked back to Natalee and we continued to French kiss. I started feeling up her breasts and continued to finger her with two (2) fingers. I estimate that I fingered Natalee for about fifteen (15) minutes. At some point I thought I had been fingering her for long enough. I had stopped doing it and told Natalee that it was better to go back to her hotel. I also told her that I had to go to school in the morning hours. I had told Natalee to walk with me back to her hotel. Natalee answered me that she didn't want to go back to her hotel.I had told her again that I had to go home. Natalee answered me that she wanted to stay there on the beach. After that I told her that I would walk to her hotel. I did this thinking that she would agree to that and that she would walk there with me to her hotel. Natalee then told me again that she did not want to go back to her hotel. Then I had enough of it that she didn't want to listen to me. I had lifted her up and started walking back to the hotel with her. Natalee told me to put her down. I did put her down. I thought to myself that's it and I called Deepak.I had called Deepak, on May 30th 2005 at approximately 03.00 am, on his mobile phone. It was May 30th 2005. I had asked Deepak how he was doing. He had told me that he was "on-line" and that he was chatting to people. I had told Deepak that the girl wouldn't listen and that she was sleeping on the beach. I asked Deepak if he would come and pick me up. Deepak further told me that he would come immediately to come and pick me up. The conversation lasted about 2 to 3 minutes. I had walked back to Natalee. She was still sleeping. I laid down next to her. At about 03.30 am Deepak came to Fisherman's Huts to pick me up. When I was sitting in the car I told Deepak that the girl was laying on the beach and that she was being annoying/irritating because she didn't want to go back to her hotel. Deepak asked me if I fucked her. I answered Deepak that I didn't because I didn't have a condom on me. Deepak also asked me what I was going to do with her. I had said to Deepak that she didn't want to go back to her hotel. I even told her that I lifted her up but that she didn't want me to bring her back to her hotel. Then Deepak said to me "don't fuck with that bitch" * that they will find her tomorrow on the beach. Then Deepak and me drove off towards home. What I can remark is that when we drove home the "Snack Truck" at "Fermins Bar" wasn't there. In the car I had....* this is a literal translation but not the best translation. The best phrase to translate this is: "Don't bother about the bitch" or "F*** the bitch, let's go". told Deepak that I left my shoes at the Marriot Hotel. Deepak told me not to worry that he would go back the next day and pick them up for me. I had left a pair of white and blue shoes of the make "K-Swiss", size "14" on the beach. These shoes I bought in the USA.What I also can state is that during the drive Deepak told me that he had the next day off and that he didn't need to go to work. I had told Deepak that I did have school and that I was tired.I was dropped off at my house by Deepak on May 30th 2005 at approximately 03.45. When I was getting out I asked him if he would go "on-line" again. Deepak answered me that he would. I also told him that I would call him tomorrow. I had asked Deepak if he could pick up the shoes I left behind at the beach. Deepak told me that he would immediately go and get them. Then Deepak drove off.To you question as to whether I had called someone or sent messages or received messages while I was with Natalee on the beach, I can state the following. I did not call anyone else but Deepak to come and pick me up. No-one called me. I had not sent or received messages on my mobile phone. When I got home I took a shower. After showering I had turned on my TV and airco. I had installed my Multi-Media that I was going to take to school the next day. I had also gone into the living room to look for something to drink. I had turned on my computer. I had signed in to "MSN-MESSENGER". None of the people I regularly chat with were "on-line". It is possible I sent Deepak a message to come "on-line". I say this because Deepak told me during the confrontation that I sent him a message. But I am not sure about that. I went to sleep after that.On May 30th 2005, at approximately 03.45 am I went to sleep. At approximately 06.30, I woke up. Between 03.45 am and 06.30 am I talked to no-one on my mobile phone. At approximately 06.45 am I got on the bus. Between 06.30 am and 06.45 am I did not talk to anyone on my mobile phone. At approximately 08.00 am, I arrived at school on the bus. I had slept the entire time the bus took to get to school. During the ride to school I don't think I called anyone with my mobile phone. I do think that I had received a message from "Flor". I did not loan my phone out to anyone to make a phone call. I am sure of that. My school starts at 08.00 am and ends at 14.45 pm. During the hours between 08.00 am and 14.45 pm I do not think I called anybody. If I sent someone messages between 08.00 am and 14.45 pm than it could only have been to "Elaine" or "Flor" and nobody else.On Monday, May 30th 2005, I did not talk to anyone at school about having left behind Natalee. Approximately 14.45 pm, I got back onto the school bus to be driven home. I arrived at home at approximately 16.00 pm. It is possible that I called someone or that someone called me. It is also possible that I sent or received messages. I am sure Satish didn't and Deepak it is possible. If I had talked to Deepak then I would have asked him what he had been doing that day or what he was going to do.At approximately 17.00 pm, I was dropped off by my father at the Raquet Club. Between the hours of 16.00 pm and 17.00 pm, I had done my homework and also "chatted". I do not remember with who I chatted. It could be possible that I chatted to Deepak because he does that a lot from where he works. I am not sure about that.Between the hours of 17.00 pm and 18.00 pm I was in the gym. I was talking there with "Koen" nickname "Cul". We spoke that it was cowardly/weak and that no one was there.
My tennis lesson was between the hours of 18.00 pm and 19.00 pm. According to me I was not called by anyone during that time. I had also made no calls myself. Approximately 19.00 pm, I was ready with playing tennis. I showered in the clubhouse. After I had finised showering I got dressed. I do not remember what I put on that day. I was wearing a short trousers and a T-shirt. It looked pretty nice/proper. I also wore slippers. Then I called "Andre". I do not remember his phone number. Andre lives near the Marriot Hotel. We had agreed that we would meet at the Wyndham Hotel at approximately 20.00 pm to play poker. I had then also called Guido. Guido had told me that he had to go to work. He would come later and try to enter the tournament for half time. I had also called my father and asked if I could play poker at the Wyndham Casino. My father gave me permission. At approximately 19.15 pm I left on foot for the Wyndham Hotel. I was alone. My tennis gear I had left behind the bar at the Raquet club. I had also removed my tennis shoes and left them in the bag behind. I had taken from my tennis bag a pair of slippers and walked away on those. From the clubhouse I walked in the direction of Salinja to the Marriot Hotel. I walked along the same route that Deepak had taken to drop off me and Natalee. At the beach of the Marriot I tried for a little while to find my shoes. They were nowhere to be found. I looked for about two minutes. Then I walked over the beach to the Wyndham Hotel. On the way there I saw a lot of people. I did not go to Fisherman's Hut to see if Natalee was still lying there. I at that moment was more worried about the shoes that I had left behind because I was unaware that Natalee had gone missing. At approximately 19.45 pm I arrived at the Aruba Grant Hotel & Casino. I know the time because I was watching at he big watch of the Wyndham Hotel. Via the pool I walked to the casino. I had gone there because I had U.S. 20,- on me. I played at the U.S. 5,- minimum black jack table. I wanted to play there so I could win some money so I that, after the tournament, I could play cash games with Guido. I played for about 15 minutes. At the end of the game I had U.S. 20,- again. In the casino I spoke with a woman that works there. She knows my face and had told me that she had watched me play poker and that she thought I played well/good. She had then told me that it was 20.00 pm. I immediately walked to the Wyndham Hotel & Casino. At the Wyndham Hotel I walked in through the beach entrance and walked to the casino. In the casino I walked directly to the man called "Elvis". Elvis had U.S. 10,- for me. A week earlier I had lent him U.S. 10,-. I had gotten my U.S. 10,- from Elvis and went to register. The fee for registering was U.S. 10,-. I met Andre and his dad at the Casino. Andre and myself stayed inside the casino and walked around until the tournament started. The tournament started at 20.15 pm. I was at a table with ten (10) people. At the beginning of the game everyone had to give their registration receipt to the "Dealer". Thirty (30) minutes later I had lost. I then went to play black jack for about 15 minutes. I had won U.S. 30,-. With the U.S. 30,- I went back to the poker game to play again. The second time I played poker I was in the game for about 1 hour. After an hour I had gone out. I stayed and waited for Andre because he was also losing. In the meantime I had called Guido. Guido had told me that he was nearly finished. At approximately 22.30, Guido arrived at the Wyndham Casino. Guido and myself went for a circular walk. After that Guido and myself walked to his car. His car was in the parking lot of the Wyndham Hotel. After that we drove to the Aruba Grant so that I could cash in my chips at the cashier. These were the chips that I had won earlier. Because it had turned eight o'clock earlier I had been unable to cash my chips then. Guido and myself played black jack in the Aruba Grant Casino for about 45 minutes. At the Aruba Grant I had won approximately U.S. 50,-. After that, at approximately 23.15 pm Guido and I arrived at the Radison Casino. I went to play poker. I was busy playing poker when I was called by Andre. He asked me where I was. I had told him that I was at the Radison Hotel. He told me he would come by there. Deepak had also asked me where I was. I told him that I was at the Radison Casino. Deepak told me that he would be there as soon as possible. At approximately 01.00 am Deepak came over to me. Andre was there too. I was on a roll. I played for about another hour. At approximately 02.00 am I stopped playing. I had "cashed out" my chips. Deepak wanted to go and play black jack. I didn't know why but he wanted to go to the Wyndham Casino. According to him he had no luck at the Radisson Casino. At approximately 02.30 am, Deepak and myself were walking to his car. He was there in his Honda Civic. The car was parked in the parking lot of the Radisson Hotel. Guido left to take Andre home.We drove towards the Wyndham Casino. When we were just about to get out of the car, my father called. My father then told me that the Police were at my house and that they were looking for a missing girl. I had then told my father that we would be coming to the house. I right away told Deepak that a girl had gone missing. Deepak had said immediately that it must be the girl from last night. I straight away thought of Natalee who I had left behind at the beach. Deepak told me straight away that it would be better if we would say that the three of us dropped off the girl at the Holiday Inn Hotel. We then drove home. At approximately 03.00 am Deepak and myself arrived home in his Honda Civic. When we arrived there we could see no-one was there so I called my dad. My dad said he was driving towards the Wyndham. I then told him that I was home. My father told me to stay there at home. Then Deepak and myself waited for about 5 minutes. Then approximately 5 cars approached. There were two Police officers among them. There were a couple of people that said that they were FBI. Natalee's mother was also there. Then Deepak and myself were attacked with questions. At a certain point Deepak was cursed out by one of the men. Then my father said that enough is enough, that the Police officers were the ones with authority here. At my house I had talked to a man, I don't know if he was the father. I had told him that from Carlos & Charlies we had dropped her off at the Hotel. I cannot remember telling him that I fingered Natalee. After that we had to go with the Police to the Police station in Noord. Deepak, my father and myself went to the Police station. At the Police station in Noord we did not say what had happened to the girl. We did say that we dropped off Natalee at the Holiday Inn. After that we had to go to the Holiday Inn. There were were attacked again by a woman who said she was with the FBI. I also briefly talked to agent WILLIAMS of the FBI. I had told him we had dropped off the girl at the Holiday Inn. It is possible that I told him that I had kissed or had fingered Natalee. For the rest I had told him nothing. After that Deepak pointed out the spot were we dropped off Natalee. At approximately 05.30 am, we went back to our house with the Police. When we arrived there I don't remember what was talked about outside. Deepak got into his car and drove off. My father and myself walked inside. When we got inside my father told me that he was not happy with me because I hadn't told him about what happened and that I shouldn't relate/treat to girls like that. I told him that I was sorry and that he was right. I don't remember what I had said to him. Then I went to shower. After that my dad kept me awake until the bus came to pick me up. At approximately 06.45 am I got on the bus. In the bus I slept. I don't think I called Deepak or Satish. At approximately 08.00 am the bus arrived at school. I went to the "reporting-room". After that I went to the head office and spoke to the director of the school mister "Bob WERNER". I had told Bob that the Police had come to my house that morning. I think he asked me why they had come. I had told him that a girl had gone missing and that I hadn't been given the chance to get some sleep. Bob then gave me permission to sleep in the "sick room". At approximately 11.00 am I was awoken by my father. He said that the missing girl still hadn't been found and that the Police wants me to make a statement. Then my father explained to Bob that I had been the last person that was seen with the girl and that I had to go and make a statement to the Police. At approximately 11.15 am my father and me left the school grounds and we went to the Police station in Bubali. My father and I talked somewhat about the missing girl. I don't remember what was said. One thing my father certainly said to me was to tell the truth. My father was right, I should have done that. I had told my father that we had dropped the girl off at the hotel. My father also told me that I was going to be interviewed as a witness. On the way to Bubali Police station I called Deepak. I said to Deepak that I was en route to make a statement to the Police about the missing girl. Deepaks answer to this was: "Shit". Deepak told me to stick to the story that we had dropped the girl off at the Holiday Inn. I couldn't properly talk to Deepak because my dad was in the car. At approximately 12.30 my dad and me had arrived at Bubali Police station. I was interviewed as a witness. I cannot remember that in my statement I had said that I had been at Fisherman's Huts with Natalee. I might be possible that I stated that. During the interview I called Deepak on his mobile. I had asked him what clothes Natalee had been wearing that night. He told me that Natalee was wearing a blue skirt and a blue top. I also said to Deepak that the Police would come and pick him to so that he could give a statement. Deepak had told me that he would come to the Police station on his own.At approximately 16.00 pm, we were finished at the Police station in Bubali. My father and me went to Taco Bell. We ate there. After that we went home. I had gotten changed in order for me to go to tennis lesson. At approximately 17.00 pm I was dropped off by my father at the Raquet Club. Before the tennis lesson I was called by Deepak. He had told me that he had given his statement and that the Police was on their way to pick up Satish in order for him to make his statement. Deepak also told me that he had told Satish what he had to say to the Police. I had asked Deepak if he could come to the Raquet Club. He said no, that he was going to go to work now and that after that he would go and pick up Satish at Bubali. I don't think I said anything else to him. I did not go to the tennis lesson. Together with Flor I went into the pool of the Raquet Club.At approximately 20.00 pm, I was picked up by my father at the Raquet Club. Then we drove home. On Tuesday May 31st 2005, I think I only had contact with Deepak over the phone. I had called Deepak in the evening to tell him that my father had said that our phones would most likely be monitored by the FBI and that the FBI would be able to read our "Chat" conversations. I think that Deepak said it was OK. I did "Chat". After that I went to bed at approximately 23.00 pm. I slept well that night.Deepak and I had agreed that we should talk a lot on the phone and "Chat" a lot on internet to make our story believable. I must also state that I had talked to Freddy and my parents about the fact that Deepak could have gone back to the girl. Freddy also said that if Deepak indeed went back to the girl that I was in big trouble because I was the last person seen with the girl. Freddy had told me that to be safe I should record a conversation between Deepak, Satish and myself. You are telling me that on May 30th 2005, at approximately 03.15 I sent a message with my mobile phone to Deepak that said: "Hey Swa (buddy) I am home now, I will see you tomorrow". After that Deepak sent a message to you with the answer "Okay". To your question what I can say about that, I can state the following. It is true. I did send that message to Deepak. If you have any more questions, I am willing to answer them tomorrow.J.A.P. van der SLOOTAfter the suspect J.A.P. van der SLOOT read the statement he had just given, he stated that he would persist in the statement and he signed said statement.Of which, we the reporting officers, on our oath as officers have made this proces-verbaal, closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 14th 2005.The reporting officersD.D. Released suspect claims arrested young man confessed to him in jail that he had lied to police
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A former hotel security guard released after being detained in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teen alleged Tuesday that one of three younger men arrested in the case lied to police about what happened to the young woman.
Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, said he was detained in a cell adjacent to one of the young men, 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe, and that the two spent time talking.
John said Kalpoe told him that he and his brother Satish Kalpoe, 18, and their 17-year-old Dutch friend never went back to the Holiday Inn the morning of May 30, the day 18-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared.
Kalpoe said they instead dropped the Dutch boy and Natalee off near the Marriott Hotel, located just north of the Holiday Inn on the same beach.
Nearly three dozen police launched a search on Tuesday near the Marriott, where they could be seen cordoning off a three-block area near the hotel. Government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg confirmed it was yet another search for the girl.
"Investigators may be following up leads from what was said this morning," he said, referring to John's comments. "They probably need to check all those things out."
Attorney General Caren Janssen said Tuesday she had no response to John's comments "or anything else."

Tuesday's stepped-up search for missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway by Aruba police and FBI bloodhounds apparently yielded no new clues, despite the thorough examination of the beachfront area where the honors student was last seen before disappearing on May 30.Police had cordoned off several blocks in front of the Marriott Hotel and a patch of swampy tropical vegetation beside it, and government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg confirmed the scene had been set for another search for the missing teen from Mountain Brook, Ala. A couple of Holloway's family members arrived, and firetrucks began pumping water from the swampy area, the Associated Press reports. As the 18-year-old's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, had told CNN in anticipation of excavation equipment finally arriving on the scene: "From the family to the FBI to the local authorities to the Aruban government to the U.S. government, I feel like we are all in this investigation, and I do feel like we are beginning to proceed forward."On Monday, two former hotel security guards detained by Aruba authorities in the case were released, while three younger men who took the Alabama honors student to a beach before she disappeared remain in custody, say reports. Those remaining in custody include a 17-year-old Dutch honors student at Aruba International School who is the son of a high-ranking judicial official in Aruba and whose detained friends told police he was kissing and fondling the girl in the back of the car when they went to the beach.Officials who confirmed Monday's release of Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, provided no further clues into the mystery of Holloway's disappearance on the Dutch Caribbean island during a student trip two weeks ago.Holloway vanished on the island hours before she was due at the airport to return home after a five-day trip with 124 classmates and seven chaperones celebrating their graduation from Alabama's Mountain Brook High School. Aruba Authorities Begin New Search for Clues
Tuesday, June 14, 2005ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Investigators in Aruba began searching Tuesday in an area near the island's hotel district following a new tip in the mystery surrounding Natalee Holloway (search)'s disappearance.A boy who found a pair of women's underpants, used condoms and condom wrappers near a small pond in the Palm Beach area north of the Alabama teenager's hotel phoned his find in to police.Authorities said the area was a popular hangout among teens and that the items were nothing unusual, but a dearth of clues to Holloway's whereabouts was prompting police to follow every lead.A representative of the Aruban prime minister's office and the police commissioner were on the scene, yet another indication of how eager the tranquil island paradise is to show the world it is taking the teen's disappearance seriously. Police Chief Jan van Stratten was to speak at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.Police have so far have found few solid leads to Holloway's whereabouts, including DNA evidence.Holloway's mother, Betty Holloway Twitty (search), has said she believes three young men in being held in police custody know what happened to her daughter. She has also implied that the Aruban government may be trying to protect one of the boys, Joran van der Sloot (search), an honors student at Aruba International School (search) and the son of a high-ranking judicial official on the Dutch Caribbean island.Aruban authorities have requested minimal assistance from the FBI, a spokeswoman for the bureau told FOX News. It was not clear how deep the bureau's involvement is in the investigation. Two FBI divers were sent to Aruba, but a source familiar with the investigation told FOX News they were sent back to the United States because no location had been pinpointed in the search for the teen. One agent, a specialist in crime against children, observed police questioning of all five men who were brought in by authorities. Agents from the bureau's evidence-processing division and the squad that deals with incidents in the region as well as a witness coordinator were also on the island. The FBI has responded to Holloway's family's complaints by saying the bureau has no legal authority in Aruba and as the country's guest, its role is limited to what the government there allows it to do.The FBI was asked by the Arubaans to analyze a DNA sample taken from the backseat of the Kalpoe brothers' car, but it tested negative for blood. A source familiar with the investigation told FOX News the bureau was not aware of more evidence the Arubaans may have uncovered.Ex-Murder Suspect Points to Three MenOne of the two former hotel security guards held in Holloway's disappearance said a story told to police fingering him was concocted by the three men who saw her last."From day one I knew I was innocent," Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, told reporters following his release late Monday night."I have never seen her before, never," he said of the 18-year-old who vanished after a senior class trip to the Caribbean resort island of Aruba (search).John and Abraham Jones, 28, who also once worked as a security guard at a hotel near where the teen and her classmates were staying, were taken into custody June 5, six days after the graduating senior failed to show up at the airport for the trip back to the United States.John and Jones claimed from the beginning that they had never seen Holloway before. They were reportedly implicated by three young men who said they saw one of the guards approach the girl after dropping her off at the Holiday Inn after a night of drinking and dancing. But suspicion now falls largely on the three men, who are still in custody. John said one of the men confessed to having lied to police."The story about the Holiday Inn was all made up," he told reporters. He said that he and one of the men, 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe (search), signed papers in which both acknowledged never having seen the other before.John said Kalpoe told him he, his brother Satish Kalpoe (search), 18, and their friend van der Sloot, 17, had met Holloway at a club and had driven her to a lighthouse beside the island's Arisha Beach. The Kalpoe brothers changed their story earlier this week, telling police that van der Sloot and Holloway were kissing passionately and fondling in the back seat of the car. Holloway was extremely intoxicated, they said. The brothers said they left Holloway and van der Sloot at the beach and headed home. They have not specified what happened at the lighthouse, or where Holloway was.The three young men were taken into custody June 9.Justice authorities refused to comment further Tuesday on John and Jones' release. But government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg said the release of the former security guards "probably means they had nothing to do with this case and prosecutors were able to check out their alibis."Lawyers for John and Jones filed court petitions Monday seeking an order for their release, but they were let go before a judge reviewed the motions, according to John's lawyer, Noraina Pietersz."These guys had nothing to do with this case and this decision reflects that," Pietersz said.No one has been charged, and lawyers for the three men still in custody and the two freed men all say their clients are innocent.Holloway vanished early May 30, hours before she was expected at the airport to return home after a five-day vacation with 124 classmates and seven chaperones celebrating graduation from Mountain Brook, Ala., High School. Her U.S. passport and packed bags were found in her room.John and Jones, who had worked as security guards at a nearby hotel, were detained after the three young men said they dropped her off and last saw her around 2 a.m. being approached in the car park of her hotel by a black man in a security guard uniform.Holloway Twitty said if she did not see results soon, she might start to believe authorities were trying to protect the young men, who told police they took the 18-year-old Holloway to a beach after an evening of dancing and drinking, hours before she disappeared."All three of those boys know what happened to her," Holloway Twitty said Sunday. "They all know what they did with her that night."Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (search) has stressed that no one is above the law on the Dutch Caribbean island governed by a local parliament. The Netherlands is responsible for foreign and defense affairs.Hundreds of islanders and tourists have volunteered in daily searches for Holloway, whose plight has shocked residents in one of the safest destinations in the region. One murder and six rapes were recorded last year on the island of 97,000 people. This year there have been two murders and three rapes. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

2 security guards in Holloway case let go
TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 2005By Peter PrengamanAssociated Press WriterORANJESTAD, Aruba — Two former hotel security guards in Aruba who were the first men detained in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were released Monday, and one proclaimed his innocence.Three young men who took the 18-year-old Alabama honors student to a beach early in the morning hours before she went missing May 30 remained in custody. The release of Antonius "Mickey" petitions for Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, within a few days, said John's lawyer, Noraina Pietersz."These guys are clearly not suspects," Pietersz said. "I don't see how the prosecution can carry on investigating them."Authorities did not return calls seeking comment Monday. But Attorney General Caren Janssen said Sunday there was enough "reasonable suspicion" to warrant holding the two. "We are still in the middle of an investigation," she said.No one has been charged, and lawyers for all five detainees insist their clients are innocent.Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, said Sunday night that the family was organizing a new search for the 18-year-old honors student, who disappeared May 30 after a night of dancing and drinking at the end of a school trip. It wasn't clear when the search would begin. In an interview with The Associated Press, Holloway Twitty expressed confidence the former security guards were innocent and said the three other men who have told police they were with her daughter should be the focus of the investigation."All three of those boys know what happened to her. They all know what they did with her that night," Holloway Twitty said during a nearly hourlong interview in her room at the Holiday Inn, the same hotel where her daughter stayed. She declined to say what she thought the young men had done or whether she thought her daughter was alive. But she said the government should pressure the three to reveal what they know.Aruban government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg said Monday that political officials "cannot pressure the justice system to do anything.""They (justice officials) already know the weight of the world is on their shoulders," he said. The three include a 17-year-old student at Aruba International School whose name has not been officially released but who is the son of a high-ranking judicial official.According to defense lawyers, his two detained Surinamese friends, brothers Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, told police the three took Holloway to a lighthouse near Arisha Beach, where the Dutch boy kissed and fondled her in the back of the car. The brothers said they returned Holloway to her hotel about 2 a.m.But Holloway Twitty said she reviewed hotel security videos and concluded the young men never brought her daughter back to the hotel. "That story was a lie," she said.Reached by telephone Monday, the 17-year-old's father declined to comment on Holloway Twitty's statements. Calls to the lawyers for the three friends were not returned. The two former guards, who worked at a hotel not far from the Holiday Inn, were taken into custody June 5 after the Kalpoe brothers told police they last saw Holloway being approached in the hotel parking lot by a black man in a black security guard uniform. The Kalpoes and the 17-year-old were detained Thursday.Composed but clearly tired, Holloway Twitty said she had lost 10 pounds since her daughter disappeared."I will not be satisfied until they give me back my daughter," she said. "I want her and I want her now."

Still No Clues In Search For Missing Alabama TeenTuesday's Search Ends At NightfallUPDATED: 7:51 pm CDT June 14, 2005ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- The latest search for an Alabama teen missing in Aruba has apparently ended without clues.Police joined by two FBI bloodhounds conducted a new search Tuesday on a beach near a Marriott Hotel about 10 blocks away from the Holiday Inn where Natalee Holloway, 18, had been staying. Police cordoned off the area from the public and have declined to comment on the search, other than to confirm that it is related to the Holloway disappearance. The area is described as one of the places where the missing Alabama teen was last seen, and was one of the areas mentioned during the ongoing interrogation process of three young men who are currently in custody.Police initially searched an area of trees located in the sandy area, then expanded the search to a nearby culvert and drainage ditch and brought in equipment to drain water from a swampy area, reported Birmingham, Ala., TV station WVTM. Authorities had not searched this specific section of beach until Tuesday, although volunteer search teams had previously examined the area.A government spokesman said the new search may have been the result of information given by a man who had been detained, but has now been released. The man told police one of three men still in custody lied to police about what happened to Holloway. The released prisoner -- former hotel security guard Antonius "Mickey" John, 30 -- told police that Satish Kalpoe, 18, told him in prison that Kalpoe and his brother dropped off Holloway and a Dutch teen near the Marriott the day she disappeared. The group had earlier told officers they had taken the girl back to her hotel.John and a second man -- Abraham Jones, 28 -- had been in custody since June 5 in connection with the disappearance of Holloway. Their release came the day after Holloway's mother said she believed the former security guards were innocent. John said he's happy but disappointed."I knew from Day 1 that I was innocent," he saidThree other men who police said took Holloway to a beach on the Caribbean island early in the morning hours before she went missing May 30 remain in custody. The 17-year-old son of a Dutch justice ministry official and two Surinamese brothers were detained Thursday. No one has been charged. Lawyers for the three detainees and the two men just released all say their clients are innocent.Holloway's mother has told The Associated Press she believed the security guards were innocent, and she believes the three young men still in custody know what happened to her daughter and should be pressed to tell the truth.Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared while on a five-day senior trip to Aruba with more than 100 classmates and seven adult chaperones.Beth Holloway Twitty, the mother of the missing teen, has been frustrated."Well, I don’t know if I can say I'm frustrated with the Aruban government," said Holloway Twitty. "I think I am frustrated as a mother, as any individual would (be), that I still do not have my daughter, that I still do not feel like I am any further along in finding my daughter than I was on May 30 when my flight landed here. So, I think that is my frustration."Holloway Twitty said the three suspects still in custody "hold the key" to her daughter's whereabouts."Those are the last three men that were with my daughter," she said. "They know what they did with her, and they know where she is."She said Aruban authorities should pressure the young men to reveal what they know, but she would not say what she thinks the men may have done or whether she thinks her daughter is still alive.Tuesday's search ended at nightfall.

New Search For Teen In ArubaORANJESTAD, Aruba, June 14, 2005(CBS/AP) Aruban police and men leading a bloodhound searched a swampy beachfront Tuesday for a missing Alabama teen, hours after a security guard released in the case claimed the girl was dropped off there, not at her hotel, along with a Dutch boy with whom she had been flirting. The search ended at nightfall.Police used wooden roadblocks to cordon off several blocks in front of the Marriott Hotel and a patch of swampy tropical vegetation beside it, on Malmok Beach. A couple of the teen's family members arrived and curious onlookers gathered.Firetrucks used to pump water arrived, apparently to drain land near the beach, which is a popular spot for picnics and family gatherings by day and is favored by lovers at night."This is a search for the girl," government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg told The Associated Press, adding that investigators "may be following up leads from what was said this morning," a reference to the security guard's allegations in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.Authorities would not comment on the statements from Antonius "Mickey" John, 30, who told reporters Tuesday that he was held in a cell adjacent to one of three young men detained in the case, and that one told him he and his friends had lied to police about what happened to Holloway.Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and his brother Satish, 18, initially told police that they and their 17-year-old Dutch friend had dropped Holloway at her hotel, the Holiday Inn, about 2 a.m. May 30, the day she disappeared. The brothers also told police they last saw her being approached in the car park by a black man in a black security jacket. But during his conversation with John in jail, Deepak Kalpoe "said they never went back to the Holiday Inn," John said."He said they dropped off the Dutch guy and Natalee near the Marriott Hotel and went home," John said. The Marriott is about 10 blocks north of the Holiday Inn.Kalpoe also said that about an hour after dropping the couple off — between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. — he received a text message on his cellular telephone from the boy, saying he would write Kalpoe an electronic message online as soon as he got home.Kalpoe said the Dutch boy, the son of a high-ranking island judicial official, never sent the promised message, John said.(CBS/AP) Attorney General Caren Janssen said she had no response to John's comments "or anything else."John's comments came the morning after authorities released him and fellow former guard Abraham Jones, 28, after more than a week in detention. Prosecutors refused to give their motives for letting the two go, which also came just a day after Janssen told The Associated Press there was "reasonable suspicion" to continue holding them because authorities were still "in the middle of an investigation."Trapenberg said the men's release "probably means they had nothing to do with this case and prosecutors were able to check out their alibis."The teen's mother, Betty Holloway Twitty, told CBS News Early Show co-anchor Hannah Storm she believed the two ex-security guards were innocent."I just never felt they were involved in our daughter's disappearance," Holloway Twitty said. She also stressed that the three other young men knew what happened and should be pressed to tell the truth."All three of those boys know what happened to her," Holloway Twitty said Sunday. "They all know what they did with her that night."Holloway vanished following a five-day trip with more than 100 other students to celebrate their high school graduation from Mountain Brook High School, near Birmingham, Alabama. In Mountain Brook, family spokeswoman Marcia Twitty said she didn't know what authorities were looking for and had not seen live TV coverage of the search."I'm not even watching it. I just can't," she said.

Authorities would not comment on what prompted the search or what police hope to find. “In general, every tip that still comes in to the police, the police investigate,” said Mariaine Croes, spokeswoman for the country’s prosecution service. Natalee Holloway, 18, disappeared on the Caribbean island May 30. Three suspects who are being detained told police they dropped her off early that morning at her hotel, which is down the beach from the search area. Second wall built for Natalee Holloway June 14, 2005By MARLIN CADDELLBIRMINGHAM POST-HERALD The sound of whirring blades and the smell of sawdust filled the air as Eddie Culpepper worked on an addition to the "Wall of Hope and Prayer" for Natalee Holloway, the teenager missing in Aruba. The original wall under an awning outside Mountain Brook Community Church on U.S. 280 filled up in a matter of six days. From top to bottom, an array of messages express thoughts and prayers for Holloway and her family. Holloway is still missing as of today. "We cry, pray, hurt and hope for you," Andrea Lindenberg Neal wrote on the board. "You will never be alone, but we understand only you understand the heartbreak you endure. We all hold our children a little bit closer as we wait for you to bring your sweet baby girl home." The smell of white paint replaced the sawdust smell Monday as the addition to the wall took shape. The new wall will be 8 feet tall and 28 feet wide. A steady stream of people came to the wall to offer their thoughts and prayers to the family. Kaitlin Oglesby of McCalla was one of them. "I wanted to help the family, and I felt like this is the only thing I can do," said Oglesby, 16. "I can't do anything except sign the wall and offer my prayers." Culpepper, 48, said his 18-year-old daughter, Katie Culpepper, was on a cruise at the same time Holloway went missing in Aruba. Concerned for her safety, Culpepper said he tried to call his daughter several times before being able to reach her. "I told her to stick together with a group," said Culpepper, who lives in Gardendale. "All of the parents were concerned." When his daughter got off the boat, the entire Culpepper family started praying for Holloway, he said. "But we wanted to do more," he said. Culpepper had the idea of creating a wall in honor of Holloway. For help, he called Richard Bradley, owner of Laser Works of Alabama on North Pinehill Road in Birmingham. Bradley said he took a photo of Holloway and used it to create a stone plaque of her image. That plaque now hangs in the center of the wall. On the left hangs a plaque with "Hope" written on it, and on the right hangs a plaque with the word "Prayer" written on it. "This wall provides the means for people to express their concerns," Culpepper said. "It gives them an outlet for being able to express themselves to the family." Culpepper said he worked with students from Mountain Brook High School to make the original wall, which was unveiled Wednesday afternoon after a prayer vigil for Holloway. As soon as the wall was unveiled, people starting flocking to sign it, he said. People have left gifts for Holloway, including yellow flowers, which lined the ground along the wall. Several candles burned beside photographs of Holloway and her family members. At noon on weekdays, the church hosts a daily prayer time where people can come to the church and pray for Holloway, Mountain Brook Community Church associate pastor Kevin Delaney said. Delaney said the church has been offering encouragement and counseling to people who need it. Holloway did not attend services there. "I encourage people to keep praying for answers," he said. "Pray for the truth ... to come out." Thousands of people have responded to Holloway's disappearance. In the center of the wall, a book lies on a podium, filled with more than 900 e-mails to Holloway and her family.

Why would they make it up?MICKEY JOHN: Because he told me, apparently, that no one -- somebody’s missing, like a young tourist person missing. They find him, like, a few days after at some crack house or with some beach bum. So they thought they would find her three days after. When push come to shove and they couldn’t get her, they decided to target-shoot. He told (ph) his brother (INAUDIBLE) target-shoot.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: As you know, two security guards released from behind bars in Aruba in a desperate search for Natalee Holloway. And tonight, from Aruba, Mickey John. He is one of the two young men released in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Also with him, his mother, Ann John.To both of you, thank you for being with us. First to you, Mickey. When did you learn you were going to be released from jail? * MICKEY JOHN: I have to talk?UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.MICKEY JOHN: Around quarter to 10:00 PM last night.GRACE: Mickey, how do you think you got mixed up in this to start with? Why did they arrest you?MICKEY JOHN: I don’t really know. I think it just mixed identity of -- I don’t know. I don’t know how they come to the conclusion. What did the brother tell you happened to Natalee?MICKEY JOHN: He told me that they picked her up -- he, his brother, a Dutch guy, picked her up at Carlos and Charlie’s, drove down to the lighthouse. On the way back, he dropped Natalee with the Dutch guy close to the Marriott, and he and his brother went home. He went on line. And like, hour later, the Dutch guy sent him a text message on his cell phone, saying that as soon as he got home, he will talk to him on line.GRACE: Do you have any idea how you got tangled up in this? Do you think the other three gave Police your name?MICKEY JOHN: The three suspects?GRACE: Yes.MICKEY JOHN: No. No. They didn’t place my name. (INAUDIBLE) made a story up. Deepak explain to me that the fact I’ve been involved with my colleague because they made the story up of dropping the girl off at the "Holiday Inn" because all something made up. They say the girl was never been dropped off at the Holiday Inn.GRACE: So if they did not drop her off at the "Holiday Inn," where did they tell you they dropped her off?MICKEY JOHN: Like I told you before, he told me that he dropped the missing girl and the Dutch guy close to the Marriott Hotel.GRACE: Oh, I see. Were you behind bars with van der Sloot?MICKEY JOHN: No, ma'am.GRACE: Mr. John, what do you believe happened to Natalee Holloway.MICKEY JOHN: I have no idea, ma'am.GRACE: To Mickey’s mother, Ann John. Ms. John, thank you for being with us.ANN JOHN, MICKEY JOHN'S MOTHER: Thank you, too.GRACE: Ms. John, do you believe that your son was arrested in the disappearance because of race?ANN JOHN: No, I wouldn’t -- I wouldn’t really say that. What I’m trying to say that if they say the girl was picked up and put at the other end of the island, why are they coming to the other end of the island to look for evidence? That’s what I was -- I really want to know.GRACE: Ms. John, does it upset you that your son was arrested while this judge’s son, van der Sloot , remained free?ANN JOHN: Well, I think -- I think so because for the first or second day and the third day, I wasn’t hearing no names (INAUDIBLE) except the two ex-security guards.GRACE: Did you always believe in your heart that your son would be released?ANN JOHN: Well, I believe on the first and the second day, I was very well believed. But on the third day, I broke down because nobody told me they was going to bring him to the courts. I went to the CD. I wait for nearly an hour-and-a-half. Nobody (INAUDIBLE) with my son. Nobody call me to said, Ann, he’s not coming. So at that time, I was going down. I said something is not going right.GRACE: I want to go back to Mickey John. You know, Mickey, you told me that you actually spoke to one of the other three suspects that are still behind bars. It sounds to me like they made up the whole story to get out of trouble.MICKEY JOHN: I guess so.GRACE: Well, how does that make you...MICKEY JOHN: Like I told you...GRACE: How does that make you feel, since you were the one thrown behind bars because of their lie?MICKEY JOHN: I feel very bad because I know I was innocent from the start, from day one. I know -- I never knew the girl. And I would never even think of hurting somebody, never in my life, never.GRACE: Mickey, you know, a lot of people, including myself, thought it was very unusual that the three men that the took her from the bar remained free, while you ended up behind bars. What was it like for you, those many days you were behind bars, suspected in this girl’s disappearance? How did you feel?MICKEY JOHN: I feel very bad because I know that they been trying to nail someone and let these guys out because they knew from day one that they be last -- the girl be last seen with these three guys. So to me, they should be the prime suspects. And they had no other right to attack nobody. (INAUDIBLE) that somebody else was linked up to the case, you go to the other person. But first thing should be done, you go to them first because they were last seen with the girl.GRACE: Well, Mickey John, I could not agree with you more. And Ms. John, Ann John, Mickey’s mother, I know that you are so relieved and happy that your son is back home. Thank you to both of you for being with us tonight.ANN JOHN: Yes, but can you please tell Ms. Holloway my heart goes out to her still. I’m still praying for her that she should find her daughter.MICKEY JOHN: The same for me. My heart goes out to her. And I know God will help her. She will find her daughter. Justice will serve. Justice shall prevail.GRACE: You know what? You two...MICKEY JOHN: And God bless her.GRACE: You two, that have been through so much, thinking of the Holloway family -- I will make sure that they know. And unfortunately, they’re not able to give us really any specific details on what is going on.GRACE: You know, to Anne Bremner, it seems to me, with the release of the two security guards, they at least seem to be refining their case. Uh- oh! I think I’ve lost Anne Bremner. Let me quickly throw that to Joe Episcopo. Joe, are you with me?EPISCOPO: Yes.GRACE: Great. Don’t you think that by the announcement they’re releasing the two security guards that they seem to be refining their case?EPISCOPO: Oh, yes. I think this is going to focus on the Dutch boy. He was the one that witnesses said they were -- was intimate with the girl -- more than one witness. Somehow or other, they went off on their own. He might have gone a little bit too far, it got rough, and somebody got killed.GRACE: Yes. You know, everybody keeps saying "being intimate with." I don’t know that that’s exactly how the whole thing went down. Very quickly, to Marc Klaas. Final thought?KLAAS: Well, you know, they have assassinated this girl’s character. They have fingered a couple of innocent men. They are responsible for her death. This is downright evil! I hope that justice comes, and I quite frankly think that NATALEE’s mom is doing a brilliant job of orchestrating justice in this case.GRACE: Robi Ludwig, 10 seconds left. I was so overwhelmed by Mickey John and his mom praying for the victim.LUDWIG: Just really good people. And I’m just so thrilled when justice does come through.GRACE: Everybody, I want to thank you for being with us tonight, especially my guests. But my biggest thank you, as always, is to you for being with us, inviting all of us into your home.

Digital” reported about the, supposed, 6-10 confession of one of the Murder Suspects, “Information received at our side indicates that over the week-end information was supplied to the American agents about the interrogations, or that one or more American agents were present during the interrogation. Apparently something got lost during the translation creating the impression with the US agent(s) that there was a confession.”
On June 18, 2005 FOX News reported “On Tuesday [6-14], F.B.I. agents and officers from the Miami-Dade Police department used German Shepherds to search the area, known as Malmok beach, which is a popular nighttime spot for lovers.”
On 6-14 ARUBAN Police search a brush area next to the “Marriott Hotel” on north Palm Beach. The ARUBAN Police blocked off several hundred yards of beachfront beside the “Marriott Hotel” while several dozen officers and UNITED STATES F.B.I. agents searched shrubbery-dotted dunes with two bloodhounds and a nearby swampy area was drained. "There were no concrete results from the search yesterday," MARIAINE CROES said. Police suspended that search after pumping water from the swampy pond.
On 6-14 ARUBA government spokesman TRAPENBERG claimed that duct tape, 3 condoms, and one women‘s polka-dotted underwear were found in a search conducted near the “Marriott Hotel“ beach (he also said it is thought to be from an “older woman because the panties were possibly size 14 to 16; though which is much larger than NATALEE) He said that evidence will be forensically checked.
On 6-14 ARUBA government spokesman TRAPENBERG claimed that ARUBA has requested and had received additional technical assistance from DUTCH and UNITED STATES authorities.
On August 16, 2005 DAVE HOLLOWAY (who is in the UNITED STATES) said that the family “was told around June 14th that NATALEE may be dead. Even with the suitcase full of lies that have been told, we do hold a thread of hope that we’ll have a miracle, and that she’s out there, somewhere.”
On 6-14 the “Save San Nicolas” website reported:

Suppressing San Nicolas And Its People: Discrimination Exposed
White pretty girl from Alabama, U.S.A. disappeared in Aruba May 30,2005 - Last seen with white Dutch boy belonging to a very powerful and influential family that is well-connected to the head of the heads of the justice department in Aruba. All evidence that could have been accumulated to keep the white suspect detained was ignored and overlooked solely because the white man's word weighs more than the black man's word. "If you are a white Dutch suspect in Aruba, you can easily be turned into a witness as long as you point your fingers to a black man/Arubian," says Edwardo Mathew.Mathew is uniquely suited to provide commentary on the situation. A native of Aruba who served a sentence at the KIA correctional facility in Aruba from 2001 to 2004, it is widely believed that Mathew was wrongfully convicted. His case is currently being heard before the European Court of Human Rights. The laws governing Aruba reflect a customary practice of unequal and discriminatory treatment reminiscent of the 1800's when blacks had no rights in society. "How can Natalee's family find justice in Aruba if there is no justice under the Arubian Dutch laws?" asks Mathew. "No man in a civilized country or island anywhere in the world should be held in prison for kidnapping and murder or any other crime by a public prosecutor behind closed doors - yet the public in Aruba is not allowed to receive information. Why?"The Dutch have most often attempted to portray their disposition as strong advocates of human rights, which stands in stark contrast to a legal system that can hold a suspect without bail for 116 days or more with little or no evidence in a four foot by four foot cell - without a mattress, accompanied by rat and cockroach infestation. The Dutch/ Arubian justice system permits cases to be heard behind closed doors, providing free reign by the public prosecutor to withhold and/or tamper with information. The Dutch legal system allows judges and prosecutors to function without checks and balances - rulings may be swayed in any direction or favor that suits them personally. "The world should be concerned about this mysterious case as it clearly poses a personal concern for the Dutch public prosecutors and friends," states Mathew. If there was a crime committed, the American family of Natalee Holloway is looking for justice and not for the innocent black or white man to pay for a crime he did not commit."The overriding question is - can justice prevail in Aruba if those who are in charge of enforcing justice have a personal stake in the outcome?" adds Dr. Arianna Mathew, wife of Edwardo Mathew and American citizen. "The appropriate course of action would be for Prime Minister Nelson Oduber to step aside and permit the F.B.I. to lead the investigation in full to prove to the world that Aruba is doing everything to seek equal justice as mistakes have already been made by initially releasing the three boys and holding the two black men."As the current government, MEP reportedly stated in the Arubian national media that the Dutch judges are not to be trusted."We must remember that the Netherlands, 'The Dutch,' for personal reasons held onto their slave trade 15 years after it had been abolished by using this same Dutch legal system," concludes Dr. Arianna Mathew. "Based on the legal system's past patterns and history - can we trust this system now?"

On 6-14 “Riehl World View” wrote about the events of the day of 5-30 and the 5-31 early morning encounter between the families:

Sun-tanned and not-rested, much as any bright new life might find itself glowing after a mostly uneventful but fully enjoyable trip, seniors were expected to be in the lobby of the Holiday Inn by 10:30 on Monday morning to assemble for the journey home. One young blond face of a reportedly mostly shy girl named Natalee Holloway never did join the gathering there.
Assuming she had simply stayed the night in another room with other friends, Natalee's roommates gathered up her belongings - luggage, purse, cell phone, and passport, bringing them down to the now crowding lobby in preparation for their flight home. As the bus began to load, adults began to ask questions of the seniors as to why the missing Natalee might not be there. Her friends stated that she had left Carlos and Charlies with a local boy.
It was decided that the students and 6 of the 7 chaperones for the trip would go on to the airport so as to not miss their flight back home. Many of the chaperones were veterans of the trip as it had become almost a ritual having been undertaken without incident for the past five, or so years. The remaining chaperone, who was not my source for this story, kept her belongings, including cell phone, in case she turned up at the hotel.
Had she made a youthful misjudgment, maybe over-slept somewhere? Or, was she perhaps simply too embarrassed for having made a choice many might characterize as unusual for the girl? It's impossible to under-speculate as to what thoughts likely passed through the mind of a presumably worried chaperone sitting alone in a hotel lobby waiting for the return of an increasingly missed young girl.
Local Police were first notified of the situation at approximately 11:30 AM, one hour after the seniors scheduled departure from the hotel lobby. A member of the beach patrol was dispatched to take a report and collect a copy of her passport for identification purposes.
Hotel staff interacted with the chaperone, answering questions and putting forth possible explanations prior to the travel agent for the trip being contacted at approximately 2PM. That is believed to be close to the time of the departing flight, though the exact time of the flight is unconfirmed. The travel agent then contacted Natalee's family.
The parents and several high profile Birmingham business men left Birmingham around 4:30 CST on a private jet owned by one of the men, G. Ruffner Page, Jr., President of McWane Inc. - one of Alabama's s largest private companies. The private plane is owned by the company. Natalee's parents placed several calls regarding the troubling developments prior to their departure for Aruba. At approximately 5:00 CST a member of the US DEA contacted the remaining chaperone. The DEA representative was on Aruba on another matter and the two individuals agreed to meet that evening back at the Holiday Inn.
By now the seniors, save one notable exception were back in Atlanta and several received incoming calls from Aruba from Natalee's cell phone. Unfortunately, what some thought was the re-appearance of their missing friend turned out to be more questions about her disappearance from the chaperone back in Aruba. Attempting to provide as much helpful information as possible the chaperone was informed that the boy with whom Natalee left Carlos and Charlies was somewhat known to them for having had played poker with several of their male classmates during the course of the trip. They identified the local boy only as Joran.
The chaperone later turned up at the casino asking questions about a boy named Joran. A poker room manager consulted existing lists and reports suggest that it was then that the boy in question was first identified as having a last initial of "V." A casino employee suggested asking questions of other hotel employees and taxi drivers, at least one of whom first identified the boy as being Joran van der Sloot , son of Anita and Paulus van der Sloot and an honor roll student at the International School who has been known to frequent the casinos, sometimes in the company of his Father.
I've reported earlier below on what I have been told of Paulus van der Sloot . If a discovered old profile from the International School is actually that of Anita van der Sloot , as some suggest, it describes one Anita van der Sloot - Hugen, a teacher at the school.
The found profile of one Anita van der Sloot - Hugen lists her credentials and experience along with a favorite quotation of "Life is creation, creation is art" and a life mission "to become a spiritual leader," and also stating "My mission as an educator in this life is to touch students’ hearts and to lead them on the path of discovery and self-expression."
Some have suggested that if this is actually the profile of Ms. van der Sloot , it contrasts starkly with the known but now disappeared web profile of Joran van der Sloot . Joran's web profile was known to contain several pictures predominantly involving drinking and gambling in what appear to be clubs or casinos on Aruba. Additionally, some have characterized his taste in music as "misogynist," though his taste in music seems to differ little from what many of America's youth listen to today. Joran van der Sloot is currently being held by Aruban authorities as the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway continues.
The previously mentioned DEA representative arrived at the hotel at approximately 8 PM and conversed with the chaperone which resulted in the local Police receiving a call from the chaperone at approximately 9PM for an update on the Natalee Holloway situation. It has been reported to me that at that time no official report had been filed and suggested that the member of the Aruban beach patrol failed to submit any information on the case. The DEA representative provided the chaperone with contact information and left.
The parents of Natalee Holloway were reported to have arrived at the hotel at approximately 10 PM. Several of the Alabama businessmen and the chaperone proceeded to Carlos and Charlies to see if they might gather additional information. Joran van der Sloot appears to be a well known figure at the casino and an employee directed the group to a taxi driver said to be very knowledgeable as to comings and goings on the island. It was now approximately midnight.
The taxi driver provided more detailed information about Joran and the group decided to approach the Police with the information they had gathered. After discussing the information with the local Police, the group, accompanied by two officers headed to the van der Sloot home. The officers honked the horn repeatedly every few minutes in front of the house prior to the emergence of Joran's Father at approximately 12:30 am.
Joran was not home and his father told the group that he could be found playing poker at one of the casinos in the Palm Beach area of Aruba. The group, including the father, headed off to locate the boy. Upon arriving at the casino, the Police, security guards, along with Natalee's parents are said to have "swarmed" onto the floor and at least one report states the Police had their weapons drawn.
The young van der Sloot was not located in the casino. Soon thereafter, Joran van der Sloot placed a call to his Father's cell phone and informed him that he was at home.
The entire group, including the Police, headed back to the van der Sloot home. They arrived to find Joran van der Sloot and Satish Kalpoe, the younger of two brothers recently detained in the matter, leaning casually against what has been reported to be the grey car now impounded in the investigation.
The Police set about questioning the two boys. They are said to have claimed at that time that the now missing Natalee Holloway did indeed leave Carlos And Charlies with them and the entire group went to the lighthouse area together prior to dropping Natalee back at her hotel. The boys also made additional claims consistent with other earlier reports.
With Natalee's Mother said to have remained in the car, possibly out of the emotion involved in meeting two of the now three boys alleged to have been the last to see her daughter alive, others in the group including the Stepfather were present as the questioning continued for approximately an hour.
Certain aspects of the discussion, some said to have involved Joran van der Sloot 's Father, led to the discussion becoming heated and Police officers requested that the group disperse. More than one individual among the group of Americans present at the Joran home that night report a belief that the boys were lying and did indeed do something to harm Natalee Holloway.
Also mostly unreported as of this writing is the great toll this is taking upon many students and adults in Mountain Brook linked in some manner to this quite possibly tragic event. Reports suggest that some, including adults beyond Natalee's immediate family are struggling in ways we can only imagine as observers and need our patience and understanding, perhaps more than our judgments at this time.
In terms of additional minor reports, conversations with a source in Aruba today confirmed a seeming lack in the way of any formal statement from Deepak Kalpoe's attorney, said to be Romero Oomer. We agree that we find this in stark contrast to other attorneys in the case, most all of whom have made some, if not many statements to the press. It is being pointed out only as an observation and is meant to suggest nothing more.
Lastly, sources also confirm that FBI officials from Birmingham have questioned several, if not all of the students on the trip.

On 6-14 the “Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association” (AHATA) reported:

As a result of the events of last week, we were unable to issue our Aruba Ta Nos newsletter this past Monday- our apologies. The Natalee Holloway disappearance is a situation that we all had hoped would have a prompt and positive resolution - unfortunately this was not to be. Aruba has never in its history received this kind of media attention and AHATA has been working behind the scenes in support of government efforts to bring order and control to the communications process. As the story continues to develop, rest assured that AHATA will continue to be present at the table in support of all government actions aimed at presenting the most correct image of our island.

After the storm:
As a father of three daughters, I share in all of our pain over the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. As an adopted Aruban, I share in our frustration over how our dushi terra has been presented. As an American, I am embarrassed by this media
feeding frenzy. As your North American marketing team leader, I am in awe of how Aruba's brand promise of friendliness, sincerity and safety has persevered, and am convinced that the long-term negative effect of this will be marginal.
That being said, we have never been complacent, here's where we are:
ATA and Minister Briesen and Quinn & Company and Fitzgerald & Co have Engaged a crises management expert
Implemented extensive consumer surveying this weekend, assessing the pulse of our targeted travelers to recent events
Similar surveying of travel agents this week
In addition to these efforts, we are committing the better part of a day at Aruba's North American Marketing Retreat next week, to assess where we are in the minds of agents and consumers, and develop an action plan to get the positive Aruba image back in the marketplace.

On 6-14 the “Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association” (AHATA) reported about AMERICAN, SCOTT WIGGINS, increase in responsibilities:

destination marketing organization - one that fully intends to deliver on its promise.

On 6-14 MSNBC reported:

JOE SCARBOROUGH, HOST: Tonight‘s top headline: Police in Aruba follow new leads. But time may be running out. And, tonight, the question remains, where is Natalee Holloway?
Welcome to SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY. No passport required. Only common sense allowed.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
SCARBOROUGH (voice-over): A new search today in Aruba, as word comes from the island that three suspects may be cracking, but still no sign of Natalee. Can the two released security guards tell us about the case of the missing Alabama teen? We will talk to one of them tonight.
Plus, Natalee‘s family, what are they going through as the search drags into a second agonizing week?

Major new developments in Aruba, as the search for Natalee intensifies. Now, two suspects were released late last night, while three young men who had been the last to see Natalee are still being interrogated. The question is, is one of them beginning to crack?
For more on what happened today, let‘s go live to Aruba and NBC‘s Martin Savidge.
Marine, now, the government of Aruba is saying it is doing everything it can. But the question is, is the clock beginning to run out on this trail of evidence in the case?
MARTIN SAVIDGE, NBC CORRESPONDENT: Well, time is becoming a crucial factor.
You know, this was a day where they went, again, looking for answers. And it was another day where they just simply didn‘t seem to be able to find them; 2:00 this afternoon, it looked like a major search effort under way within sight of our cameras right here at the Marriott Hotel, a specific site just to the north, actually, an area where it is believed with the interrogations that have been taking place with the suspects they have said that Natalee Holloway had gone with them on the night that she vanished.
It was also an area where earlier today a volunteer had found a pair of women‘s underwear. As a result of those factors coming together, police decided it was time to thoroughly search the area. They moved in. They cordoned it off. They shut down traffic at certain places. And they brought in FBI search dogs. Carefully, they lined up people on foot and waded into the underbrush and the undergrowth that is located there.
But it appears, despite all of those efforts, they didn‘t find anything more than the original discovery. And there is no way really right now to know if that is connected with Natalee‘s disappearance.
It is frustrated for the family. You pointed that out. I was out earlier today with Natalee Holloway‘s mother. And she was going door-to-door, as she has done for the past two weeks, handing out fliers, prayer bracelets, just saying hello to people, making them realize what is going on, as if they need any reminder in this island.
But, today, she went specifically to one area, the neighborhood of where the suspects have lived. She wants to get the message clear to family members and maybe friends, people who knew them, that this search effort is vital and maybe they know something to talk about, to give away about those suspects. It is her personal way of trying to bring pressure to bear.
And then, finally, you pointed out two suspects released, those former security guards. They now appear to have been cleared from the investigation. But they feel that they have been harmed as a result. They were angry over the fact that they were held for so long for apparently a story that was concocted by three boys who are still the prime suspects—
Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: Martin, let me ask you very quickly, obviously, in America, we are hearing more and more criticism of the fact that Aruban authorities allowed those three crime suspects to go for at least 10 days and may have allowed the trail to go cold. Are you starting to hear that criticism grow in Aruba on the island?
SAVIDGE: Well, you are not hearing it so much from the people on the island. You certainly hear it from the family members. They say, why did it go 11 days when you knew that these were the three young men that were with her the night that she disappeared? Why did it wait so long?
And here‘s another concern about timing. And that has to do with the evidence. If, sadly, something tragic has happened to Natalee Holloway and she was murdered, her body is the largest piece of evidence to be found. In this tropical heat, with time and with all of those factors coming together, the evidence that could tell the authorities who did it and how could be dissipating. We are talking about DNA, semen and other things that could be retrieved.
So, that is one reason why authorities want to find her, preferably alive, but, if not, they need to find evidence to prove who did it.
(CROSSTALK)
SCARBOROUGH: Yes. And, again, Martin, obviously, those 11 days, 11 critical days that were lost.
Martin, thanks a lot for being with us. As always, we greatly appreciate it.
Now, in just a minute, you are going to be hearing from one of the security guards that was arrested, then released in Aruba. Mickey John is going to be here to talk live about what he heard inside the jail that could crack this case wide open.
But, first, the government of Aruba facing tough questions tonight about the investigation.
Now, for that part of the story, we turn to Ruben Trapenberg. He‘s a spokesman for the government of Aruba.
Thank you so much for being with us tonight, Ruben.
Certainly, you are hearing a lot of criticism about these three prime suspects not being picked up and kept in custody. Why the 11-day delay? And are the Aruban authorities now admitting that may have been a mistake?
RUBEN TRAPENBERG, ARUBAN SPOKESMAN: They are not admitting that it was a mistake.
The official version—and this was communicated about a week ago in a press conference from the chief prosecutor when she was confronted with that question. She said that they were questioned and then released for tactical reasons. Now, what exactly tactical reasons may be, people have speculated that they may have been followed and tapped or whatever.
We have no explanation of what those words mean in this case.
SCARBOROUGH: But, obviously, though, it doesn‘t apply to the car, which, if it would have been impounded, then they could have found—possibly found critical evidence to, again, put Ms. Holloway in that car. And if a crime were committed in that car, obviously, it would have helped to impound it before giving them 11 days to clean up the DNA evidence.
TRAPENBERG: Well, what she said in that very same press conference is that the car‘s—and certain holdings of these kids were checked out. They did look for samples that they could get. That is what they are explaining at this point. Why they didn‘t impound them at that point is not revealed at this—at this moment.
SCARBOROUGH: Mr. Trapenberg, obviously Mickey John was jailed for a few weeks. He is now claiming that, while he was in jail, he wasn‘t asked a single question. Can you give us more information on that? What are the authorities saying on why they would this man for a few weeks and not even interrogate him?
TRAPENBERG: From what I hear, he was interrogated, but only once.
And then all the information that he had given up had to be checked out.
That took a while.
And when it was clear that—when they were cleared, they were released. That is the information that we have at this point.
SCARBOROUGH: Mr. Trapenberg, could it be that your island is, for the most part, such a peaceful island and such a crime-free island that maybe Aruban authorities aren‘t up to the task to investigating such a high-profile possible murder investigation?
TRAPENBERG: That is true. We don‘t have this kind of a situation. People don‘t go missing on the island. We don‘t have this—we don‘t have a crime problem on the island. So, you would think the local authorities don‘t have the experience.
But what they do have is that part of the year they go to Holland and they have contacts with U.S. authorities. They go over for training. So, even though they may not handle those cases, when they go out to do this special training, they do get training in that area. So, in this case, we have people that have come from Holland and from the FBI, and they are assisting, because they already know each other. It is not that you are going to get your jurisdictional trouble at this point.
They know each other and that is why they are working. And the FBI came in almost from day one.
SCARBOROUGH: All right. Mr. Trapenberg, thanks a lot for your time.
We greatly appreciate it.
And, again, to put perspective on it, this really is a rare, rare occurrence in Aruba. But, certainly, it has happened to Natalee. It has a great impact on her family, her friends in Birmingham, Alabama, and all Americans that have been following this story and thinking about her and praying for her over the past several weeks.
Now let‘s bring in former FBI profiler Clint Van Zandt.
Clint, I just don‘t know where to begin. These authorities have made so many mistakes.
CLINT VAN ZANDT, MSNBC ANALYST: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: But let‘s start with the biggest mistake, allowing these three suspects to basically go free for 11 days. Talk about all the things that these three suspects could have done over 11 days to basically to make the trail just go cold.
VAN ZANDT: Well, I‘ll tell you what, Joe. This is—you know how they advertise it as one happy island. This is one unhappy island right now.
You know, I understand this tactical phrase that we heard earlier, and, hopefully, to you and me, that suggests they were able to put, you know, beeping devices on their car. They were able to get court-ordered wiretaps on their cell phones.
SCARBOROUGH: Clint, Clint, Clint, that was spin control, buddy. You know that.
VAN ZANDT: Yes. Well, I am saying hopefully.
Reality is, Joe, you know, reality is, I‘m afraid—I‘m afraid, reality is, they went out and rounded up the usual suspects, two poor black guys who might take the fall for it, while these other three guys walk for almost two weeks until the mother of the victim and the FBI and other people put such pressure on the government that they had to cave and pull these three guys in.
(CROSSTALK)
VAN ZANDT: ... that‘s reality.
SCARBOROUGH: And, of course, Clint, what makes—what makes it even worse is that one of these kids, the white kid, is politically connected on the island.
You know, I never use the race card, but it was so painfully obvious that they pulled these poor...
VAN ZANDT: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: ... these poor black guys off the street simply because they were easy targets. I mean, so, what happens next? What does the FBI do? How do they step in and try to make up for those 11 days? Or can you simply not make up for 11 lost days in an investigation like this?
VAN ZANDT: You know, sometimes, when the train pulls past the watering station, you can‘t get water again, Joe. You are too far down the tracks.
And, in this particular case, the FBI, you have got to realize, now, if this was an Aruban girl who went missing in Chicago and a dozen Aruban cops showed up and told the Chicago P.D., hey, we are here to take over the investigation, that wouldn‘t fly very well. You and I know that. So, that is—that is what the FBI is encountering.
They are there. They are saying, we are here to help you. We will help you with interview strategies. We have got the lab. We will fly in search dogs. We will do anything we can to make this investigation work. And the Arubans are saying, thank you very much. We will run it. We will let you watch. We‘ll let you see some things that are going on, but it is our country.
I can‘t blame them for saying that, but you have got FBI agents who work these type of crimes all the time. And the Arubans will proudly tell you, they have only had two or three homicides in the last couple of years. You don‘t get a lot of experience working homicides unless, unfortunately, you work homicides.
SCARBOROUGH: Well, you know, and, unfortunately, they don‘t work homicides. And it reminds me of Barney Fife with the one bullet, except, in this case, tragic consequences.
Stay with us, Clint. We‘re going to be right back.
And we‘re also going to have a lot more tonight on the search for Natalee, including, we are going to the security guard who was just released from jail. Now, you remember, last week, I told you, the only reason they arrested this guy was because he was black and he talked to tourists from time to time.
And, sure enough, he is here tonight to confirm that what I said while he just got thrown into jail is exactly right. You are going to be hearing from him in his own words.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: The search for Natalee. Next, what a former suspect heard in jail, information that could break this case wide open. And it came from an unlikely source. We are going to hear it in his own words when SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY returns.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(NEWS BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: Welcome back to the show.
Late last night, the two security guards who were arrested early in this case were released after nearly two weeks behind bars. Now, you will remember, here on SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY, first, we told you that these guys were being set up by the police to draw attention away from the real suspects. Well, Mickey John and Abraham Jones were detained, but they were never charged. And now we are having explosive new information coming out. They are free tonight.
And Mickey John is with us now, along with his attorney, Noraina Pietersz.
Mickey, thank you so much for being with us tonight.
I want to ask you about your arrest, about being thrown into jail and
· and why that happened. But the first thing I want to ask you is about an interesting conversation you had with suspect Deepak Kalpoe. What did he tell you about Natalee while you were in jail?
MICKEY JOHN, FORMER SUSPECT: Well, Deepak came to San Nicolas police station Thursday, come to Friday morning. I saw him on Friday morning. He introduced himself as Deepak. So, we had been talking.
You know, when somebody come in new, you always ask them things about yourself and what are they here for. He said his name was Deepak and he was here for the missing girl‘s case.
SCARBOROUGH: And what did he tell about that night?
JOHN: Well, let me go in details.
I ask him if he saw the guy on the news. He said yes. He saw the guy on the news. I asked him if he knew the guy. He said no. I asked him if he knew where the guy is from. He said the guy is from Grenada. So, right then, I knew he was talking about me. So, I decided to ask him a few questions.
SCARBOROUGH: And when you asked...
(CROSSTALK)
SCARBOROUGH: Yes. I was just going to say...
JOHN: Go ahead. Go ahead.
SCARBOROUGH: What did he have to say about Natalee?
JOHN: Well, he said the story that Natalee had been dropped off at the Holiday Inn was all made up. He said the girl has never been dropped off at the Holiday Inn.
He said (INAUDIBLE) took the girl from Carlos ‘n Charlie‘s, drove to the lighthouse. He, Deepak, was driving the car. His brother was sitting next to him in the front. Natalee was sitting in the back seat, behind Deepak. And the Dutch guy was sitting in the back seat behind his brother. They drove to the lighthouse.
He didn‘t say to me what took place at the lighthouse. But he said, on his way back, they dropped the Dutch guy off and Natalee close to the Marriott Hotel. He went home. He went online on his computer. And he said, like an hour after, the Dutch guy sent him an e-mail, like a message on his telephone, on his cell phone, saying that, when he got home, he would communicate with him online also. So, apparently, the Dutch guy was still out when he sent him the message.
SCARBOROUGH: And that story sounds completely different from what we heard from these statements that they gave to the police immediately after the arrest. Let‘s—where they said they dropped her back off at the hotel.
Let‘s talk about your story for a second. You know, I personally could not believe you got arrested. They had no evidence on you. From everything we heard, you had never even met this young woman. Tell me, what—what excuse did the police give you, did the Aruban authorities give you for throwing you in jail in such a high-profile case?
JOHN: They didn‘t give me absolutely no excuse at all, until this very moment, no excuse. They didn‘t explain to me why I‘ve been taken into custody, no excuse at all.
SCARBOROUGH: Did they ask you questions when you were in custody? I mean, the whole world saw your face. They saw you taken out of your home like a common criminal, thrown into jail. Did they—did they ask you about Natalee? Did they say, did you see her that night? Did they ask you about the crime?
JOHN: Yes. They asked me if I knew her. I said I didn‘t know her. They asked me if I see her. I say, I never saw her before. And I was not at the Holiday Inn at the time they said the incident had been taking place. I was in my bed sleeping, apparently, because I had to be working 6:00 the following day, 6:00 a.m.
SCARBOROUGH: What—what about—do you think this happened because the main suspect in this case, Mr. van der Sloot, has political connections on the island?
JOHN: Well, I wouldn‘t emphasize most on that. I wouldn‘t say that. I don‘t know much about that. I just mean that they are trying to set somebody up, and which I was very unfortunate and my other colleague. We are both unfortunate.
SCARBOROUGH: Yes. Yes.
Let me bring in your attorney.
Ms. Pietersz, obviously, tonight, you have got to be pleased that your client is free. But, at the same time, are you getting any answers from authorities on why they arrested him?
NORAINA PIETERSZ, ATTORNEY FOR MICKEY JOHN: Until this moment, not really, because today is Tuesday.
Last Sunday, I spoke with the prosecutor in charge of the case. And she even told me that she was still investigating on my client. But, after I spoke with my client, after speaking with him every day—and the only investigation that has been done, according to my client and as far as I know of, is the fact that they took his statement the first day they brought him in under police custody, which was Sunday.
And now Monday again, they took a statement. And, after that, nothing else happened. Then the confrontation with one of the suspects who has been held in one or two cells next to him. And that was on his own insistence.
(CROSSTALK)
SCARBOROUGH: And that is on his own. And, of course, the police officers, using the information that your client gave the world, conducted another investigation today.
You know, I understand it is a small legal community down there. I understand it is hard to criticize other attorneys.
PIETERSZ: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: But to those of us in America, this seems so obvious that for 11 days they let the prime suspect run free, simply because he was politically connected. Are you willing to say that that may have played a role on your suspect landing in jail, instead of the main suspect who was seen with this young woman leaving the bar the night she disappeared?
PIETERSZ: You know, I have heard a lot of rumors about some strategic plan or something like that. I don‘t want to believe so, because, even according to the Aruban law, it is not allowed to take in an innocent person as a suspect, whereas you might have some other suspect walking out there.
And that was the case with my client. Three—three people were heard as witnesses. They were witnesses from the beginning. And then according to their statements, they got my client. And, after all, it happened that he wasn‘t even a suspect.
SCARBOROUGH: Yes.
PIETERSZ: Until now, we don‘t really know how that happened.
SCARBOROUGH: Well, I tell you what...
PIETERSZ: We don‘t really have an answer to that.
SCARBOROUGH: They owe you answers. They owe your client answers.
And they certainly owe the family of Natalee Holloway a lot of answers.
Thanks for being with us tonight again, Ms. Pietersz.
PIETERSZ: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: And thank you so much, Mickey John. We are glad, finally, that you are where you belong, out of jail.
Let‘s bring back Clint Van Zandt.
Clint, the errors made by the Aruban authorities just keep piling up.
VAN ZANDT: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH: Here, an innocent man thrown in jail, not really even interrogated. What is going on down there?
VAN ZANDT: Well, I will tell you, Joe, I have worked in Aruba, Curacao, the Bahamas as an FBI agent. You know, they have got some real hardworking cops. They are doing the best they can with the conditions they have.
But, you know, just—when you and I first started talking, I suggested there was some sophisticated plan. OK, we are going to go bag these two guys and then we‘re going to be following the other three guys to really get the goods on them. That is some dime store comic book. That is not reality.
Reality is, you get the three guys that were last with the victim and you work them and you work them and you work them until you crack them. You don‘t say, well, let‘s see. We are on the bullseye and let‘s move out about 5,000 yards and see who might have been on the peripheral. And that is what they have done in this case.
And they—as you started your program out, they wasted valuable time.
SCARBOROUGH: Yes.
VAN ZANDT: As Martin said, the chances of getting linking forensic evidence in a worst-case scenario are getting tougher and tougher.
And, you know, the authorities have got their work cut out for them. And I hope they give the FBI a greater role. My question is, can this be salvaged? But, Joe, all we have got to have is one of these three guys break and tell us the truth. But, you know, you have got an island about the size of Washington, D.C. And you and I know it took over a year to find Chandra Levy‘s body. And we knew where that park was...
SCARBOROUGH: Yes.
VAN ZANDT: ... where she was last at.
SCARBOROUGH: They thought—they knew that she was in a park. And it took them a very long time to find her bones.
Clint, thanks so much for being us with. We are going to keep following this case, obviously. And we need your insights.

On 6-14 CNN reported:

PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Our next stop is Aruba, where there are now conflicting stories about exactly what happened to missing U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway. We're going to hear from a man who was once held in the case and is now free. He's dropped a bombshell. (COMMERCIAL BREAK)ZAHN: We are following developments in Aruba tonight in the search for 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. The Alabama teenager disappeared more than two weeks ago while on a senior class trip. Today, acting on what appears to be new information, authorities cordoned off an area near a beachfront hotel and searched the water and the shore. They wrapped up that search just a short while ago, apparently, finding nothing. Yesterday, authorities released two security guards arrested 10 days ago in the case. Coming up, I'll be talking with one of them. First, though, Karl Penhaul takes us through what we've been learning about the critical moments in the mystery of Natalee Holloway's disappearance. (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE) KARL PENHAUL, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Neon lights pull in the gamblers and the curious, drawn by the ringing of quarters in the slot machines, the spin of the roulette wheel, the roll of the dice. JAN VAN DER STRATEN, ARUBAN POLICE COMMISSIONER: They meet each other in the casino. QUESTION: That day or a previous day or...VAN DER STRATEN: The day before. PENHAUL: Police say Natalee Holloway was here in the Holiday Inn casino on Saturday night, May 28. It was her first known contact with one of the suspects, Joran van der Sloot, the 17-year-old son of an Aruban judge. More neon lights, this time outside Carlos 'n Charlie's bar. Holloway came here to party the following Sunday night. She was with high school friends. She may not have realized she was taking a gamble of a different kind. The bar is in Aruba's capital, Oranjestad, about 15 minutes drive from the Holiday Inn, where Holloway and her classmates were staying.Joran van der Sloot and brothers Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, seen here in photos printed in an Aruban newspaper, showed up at about 10:45, according to statements the Kalpoes made to investigators and seen by the defense attorney for another man who has now been cleared of links to Natalee Holloway's disappearance. CHRIS LEJUEZ, ATTORNEY FOR ARUBAN SUSPECT: And one of them stated that Joran danced with her. PENHAUL: According to police, it was around 1:00 a.m., closing time early Monday, when Natalee Holloway's friends watched her walk out of the bar and into a silver gray car with van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers. What we know about what happened next comes from those who have read the Kalpoe brothers' statements. LEJUEZ: After they got into the car, one of them says, she wanted to see the other side of the island. And the other one says, she wanted to see -- to go have a look at the sharks. PENHAUL: You can make it to the lighthouse from Carlos 'n Charlie's in around 20 minutes. The Kalpoes were said to be up front, Holloway and van der Sloot in the back. LEJUEZ: They say that he was not only kissing her, but fondling her sexually. PENHAUL: It's called California Lighthouse. It's a tourist attraction by day, by night, an isolated romantic rendezvous. It's not clear the car even stopped. But, even in the moonlight, from here, it would have been tough for Holloway to see any sharks. LEJUEZ: One says they drove by the lighthouse. The other one says they -- they did not get out of the car. PENHAUL: As they looped back around, they would have passed Arashi Beach. Experts say if you dump an object here, the current will drag it west toward open ocean. According to Lejuez, the suspect's statement denies stopping at the beach but the area was searched shortly after Holloway's disappearance. From Aruba's northwest tip, Lejuez he says the Kalpoe brothers' statement describes heading back to the Holiday Inn. LEJUEZ: One of them states she fell asleep and they had to wake her up to ask her what hotel she was staying. PENHAUL: When they dropped off Holloway, Lejuez quotes the statement of one of the Kalpoe brothers saying she was drunk and stumbled from the car. The other statement, Lejuez says, describes Holloway talking to a security guard, dressed in black pants and a T-shirt. Based on the statements, two security guards, Mickey John and Abraham Jones, were arrested six days after Holloway went missing. They were released late Monday night after prosecutors decided there was no hard evidence against them. van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers were arrested around dawn last Thursday. Prosecutors formally accused them of murder one, murder two and kidnapping leading to death. But Dutch law is different from American law, and they've not yet been formally charged. Defense lawyers for the three young men maintain their clients' innocence. ANTONIO CARLO, ATTORNEY FOR JORAN VAN DER SLOOT: My client has maintained that he is innocent. PENHAUL: Law enforcement sources close to the investigation say cracks are appearing in van der Sloot's and the Kalpoes' stories, a view shared by one of the freed security guards who spoke to Deepak Kalpoe in jail. MICKEY JOHN, SECURITY GUARD: He told me the story about dropping her off at the Holiday Inn was made up. He dropped the Dutch guy with the missing girl close to the Marriott and he and his brother went home. PENHAUL: Those the law enforcement sources say their accounts may be murky and the description of the facts not quite the same. But one indisputable fact: Natalee Holloway is missing without a trace. (END VIDEO CLIP)ZAHN: That was Karl Penhaul reporting for us. Joining me from Aruba, Mickey John, one of the security guards detained and now released in the case. Good of you to join us. Even though you have said you've been innocent from the time of your arrest, was there a part of you that was afraid that you in some way were going to be officially tied to miss Holloway's disappearance? JOHN: No, not at all, ma'am. Because I knew I was totally innocent. And there was nothing, no concrete evidence, nothing that led to my, you know, contact with this young lady, at no time at all. ZAHN: Are you bitter about being held for something you had nothing to do with? JOHN: Of course. I did not like it at all. ZAHN: As it turns out, you have been quite helpful to police. You have shared with them a story that you heard while you were in jail from a man named Deepak Kalpoe, one of three men now being held on suspicion of having something to do with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. What did he tell you? JOHN: He told me that he, his brother and the Dutch guy drove from Carlos 'N Charlie's and they went straight to the lighthouse with the girl. Deepak was driving. His brother was sitting next to him in the front. Natalee was sitting behind Deepak. And the Dutch guy was sitting behind his brother. They went to the lighthouse. He didn't tell me what they did at the lighthouse. But he said on the way back they dropped the Dutch boy and Natalee close to the Marriott Hotel. ZAHN: Did he describe to you what state either one of them were in? JOHN: He said Natalee was very, very drunk, highly intoxicated. ZAHN: Do you believe his account of what happened? JOHN: Well, personally, I think he is holding back something. He didn't tell me nothing more, but I think he's holding back something. He's very, very calm. He was very calm at all times. And he say he should be released very soon and he'd try to convince the Dutch guy to confess. ZAHN: He believes the Dutch man, Joran van der Sloot, is responsible for the disappearance of Natalee? JOHN: According to his statement, yes. ZAHN: If you were able to talk to Natalee Holloway's parents tonight, what would you tell them? JOHN: Of course, my heart goes out to them, And 24 hours a day, I am with them in prayers. I hope that they recover the missing girl alive. ZAHN: Well, we wish you luck now that you've been released. Good luck to you. JOHN: Thank you very much, ma'am.
