On 6-9 at 5:45 AM, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE and Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE were arrested as suspects (but not charged) for “reasonable suspicion of murder, manslaughter or intentional containment with the dead as consequence” against NATALEE.
( Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's car and computer were also confiscated)

On February 20, 2007 “Blogs For Natalee” identity “Rammstein” reported within the thread entitled, “225 + 120 Un-accounted for Minutes by Murder Suspects on 5-31-05”

Well any statement they made as witnesses automatically fall under suspect statements as soon as people go from being witnesses to being seen as suspects (if I am not mistaken).

The ARUBAN Police commissioner (STRATEN?) said the suspects were being held in separate facilities in the capital to ensure they cannot communicate with one another.
On 6-9 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

Pl\O JUSTITIA KORPS POLITIE ARUBA Recherche District 2Mutatie No.: Parket No. :Adm. No.VerdachteVerklaring verdachtePROCES -VERBAALWe, Johny Melvis ERASMUS and Clyde Anthony BURKE, respectively officer first class and sergeant first class, with the Korps Politie Aruba and attached to the Section Often Occurring Crimes District II, declare the following. On June 9th 2005, approximately 10:55am, we interviewed as a suspect the man named: Deepak Sharma KALPOE, born in Paramaribo, Surinam on October 6 1983, assistant manager Cyberzone Internet Café and living on Hooiberg 91-B, Santa Cruz, Aruba. Before the suspect was interviewed, he was informed by me, ERASMUS, that he was not obliged to make a statement. He then made a statement in dutch, that was transcribed by me, ERASMUS, and goes as follows:Before the interview started I was informed by you that I am under no obligation to make a statement. Although I know that, I am still willing to make a statement. I had earlier given a statement about what happened that day. My statement will not differ from the one I earlier gave. Details I have now forgotten. I will try to remember as much as possible. I have to inform you that I was contacted a few days ago by a boy named Steve. Steve said to me that he saw us on May 30th 2005 when we dropped the girl off in the nightly hours. Steve's phone number is REMOVED.On May 29th 2005 I was called before closing time of the business where I work by Joran. (with Joran is meant suspect J.A.P. van der Sloot ; comment by reporting officers). I was working. We close approximately at 22.00 hours. I assume that Joran called me at approximately 21.50 hours. Joran had asked me if I had to work the next day. I had told him that I had to work tomorrow afternoon. He then asked me whether I wanted to go with to "Carlos & Charlies", because he had met a few girls and wanted to meet them again in "Carlos & Charlies". I agreed and told him that I would pick him up later. A little before 23.00 hours I drove home. I ate something at home together with my brother Satish and after that I vacuumed the carpet on the inside of my car. (with Satish is meant the suspect S.S. KALPOE; comment reporting officers). My sister Angie was already asleep. My mother was not home, she was working. The man with whom my mother is married, was also at work. While we ate I had asked Satish if he wanted to come to "Carlos & Charlies". After I finished vacuuming I went and took a shower. A little before 0.00 hours I drove to Joran's house. Joran lives on the address Montanja 19. He lives in his own apartment. We, Satish and me, entered Joran's because he wasn't ready yet. He was still printing a project/something for school. We were inside Joran's place for about fifteen minutes. After that we drove to "Carlos & Charlies". I had parked my car in the parking lot behind "Carlos & Charlies" with the front side of my car parked towards the wall of "Carlos & Charlies". We got out and walked towards "Carlos & Charlies". At that time it was approximately 00:30 hours. We walked straight to the bar. Joran had bought us something to drink. He hadn't asked us what we wanted, because he already knew what we liked to drink. He had bought three "YARDS" with whisky coke. We walked to the podium/stage. Podium/stage is a floor-elevation where one dances. We went and watched. I estimate that about seventy people were present or more, maybe. We stood there with the three of us talking. Shortly after that, I estimate about three to four minutes, Joran was called over by a girl, by means of a hand gesture (with the girl is Natalee Ann HOLLOWAY is meant; comment reporting officers). By the way the girl was dancing, I assumed that she was reasonable intoxicated. Joran had made it known by hand gesture that he didn't want to come to her. After the song was over, the girl walked over to Joran. The girl was a bit unsteady on her feet when walking up to Joran. I noticed that she was a pretty girl. I saw that Joran and the girl were talking. I heard that the topic was dancing. I saw Joran laugh and saw that Joran said something back to her. I did not hear what Joran said back to her. I looked around and did not pay attention to what they were talking about. A friend of mine came walking up to me. His name is Eli and I don't know his last name. He used to me in my class at the MAVO/BAVO. Eli talked to me for about five to ten minutes. Eli then walked away. When I turned around Satish and Joran were nowhere to be seen. They hadn't even told that they were leaving. I looked for them for a short while, but hadn't found them. I was in the bathroom for a little while. I have no patience to look. After the bathroom I looked around somewhat. I walked past the bar, past the glass section where the "Carlos & Charlies" souvenirs of "Carlos & Charlie" are sold to the outside. When I was walking outside, I could hear the announcement that it was the last opportunity to buy alcohol. That is always announced before closing, I walked to my car. My car was the only one parked in the back of the parking lot. I went and sat in my car to wait for Satish and Joran. I had no more money left on my pre-paid phone to call them. I was listening to the radio and was trying to adjust the sound. The car door on the right front door was opened. I looked up and saw that it was Satish. Satish sat down next to me. Then the back car door opened. Joran got into the car. He got in on the right side of the car and sat down behind Satish. The girl had also got into the car through the back car door on the left side. She sat down behind me in the car. I greeted her. I said to her: "Hi" She greeted me back and had told me her name. I immediately forgot her name. I had no problem with the fact that she was sitting in the car. It wasn't the first time that I had girls in my car that were on vacation and dropped them off at hotels. I looked in front of me and asked Joran in Papiamentu what were we going to do. Joran answered in Papiamentu drive around. I backed up my car, drove from the parking lot and then past "Carlos & Charlies" twice. I had the volume of my car radio turned up pretty high. To understand each other we had to talk loudly. During the two times that we drove past "Carlos & Charlies" I hadn't spoken to the girl. I only talked to my brother. When I was going to pass by Carlos & Charlies for the third time I saw a Police van on the corner. I wasn't wearing my seatbelt and because of that I turned into the other direction. I decided to Turn right instead of left, in the direction of "Choose a Name". When I turned left we had to drive at walking pace because of a row of cars in front of me. During that time the girl stuck her head out of the car and yelled something. I had not understood what she had shouted. I looked into the direction she had been yelling to. I saw a group of people standing there, there were both boys and girls there. It was a group of more than ten people. I assumed that they belonged with her group. One of the boys responded and walked towards us. I hear the boy say: " What are you doing there. Are you crazy, get out of the car."(loosely translated: What are you doing. Are you nuts/crazy. Get out of that car). She didn't want to get out. I hadn't responded to it. I kept on driving at walking pace and stopped my car at the zebra crossing. I had done this because I thought it would be better if she went with her friends. To prevent problems because her friends clearly didn't want her coming with us. To your question as to what I mean by problems, I can state the following. The kind of problem that I have now gotten into. People would think that she would have gone with us against her will. She had been more drunk than she had been previously. I thought that she talked too much. She talked pretty loud, I could not hear what she was talking about. I had told her in English that if her friends thought it better she'd go with them, that it would be best if she did. She refused to go with them. She said I could also drop her off, seeing as I owned a car. It is possible that I turned down the volume of my radio, or else I would have had to shout at her. I then drove on. I drove into the first road immediately after "Choose a Name". This road leads to "mainstreet". I had turned up the volume of the car radio again. On "mainstreet" I turned right. At the intersection I turned left in the direct mail road (with main road the L.G. Smith Boulevard is meant; comment reporting officers). On the main road I turned right, towards "Royal Plaza". I had planned to drop the girl off with her friends. When I came back to the intersection where her friend had been standing, I found they had left from there. That was at approximately 01.20 hours. In English I asked in general what we were going to do. She said in English that she wanted to see sharks at the "lighthouse". I assumed she wanted to see the "Lighthouse". I hadn't thought anything else. I drove into the direction of the "Lighthouse" with a speed of between seventy to eighty kilometers an hour. I know this because I have made it a habit to look at the speedometer. I drove into the direction of the "Lighthouse" over the main road. On the way there I looked into the rear view mirror and saw that Joran and the girl were french kissing, that was in the vicinity of where "Hooters" used to be. I had been looking into the rear view mirror regularly looking at the traffic situation. The times that I looked back I saw there were French kissing. They were not kissing constantly because I heard them talking too. While they were kissing, I just thought that it was Joran's girlfriend and didn't think anything else of it. I had constantly driven on asphalted roads. I am very careful with my car and I don't drive on roads with a lof of potholes and bumps. It was for first time I had driven with this car out to the "Lighthouse". At the "Lighthouse" I continued to follow the asphalted road. This road leads past the restaurant back up to the "lighthouse". Arriving at the "Lighthouse" I had started to drive more slowly. Just before we drove past the restaurant I said in English that this is the "Lighthouse". Nobody responded. I looked around to the back of the car and saw that Joran and the girl were French kissing. Joran had his hand under the girls skirt. According to me it was his left hand. I didn't think it strange, I had seen this before with friends who took girls with them in my car.I immediately faced forward. I looked at Satish with a look saying, what should I do. Satish said to me in dutch to keep driving. This all happened near the restaurant. I saw that at the "Lighthouse" two cars were parked. A green coloured jeep, with according to me four doors, open roof (soft top), that looked like a Suzuki Vitara and a white four door saloon. I drove back down at a calm speed. After I had passed the hills I picked up the speed until I drove seventy to eighty kilometers an hour. At the section where there was no street lighting, Joran told me that the girl had fallen asleep. I quickly turned around and saw that she was really sleeping. I asked Joran in dutch how that was possible. I told Joran to wake up the girl to ask her where she was saying in order for me to drop her off. After I asked Joran where she was staying, about one to two minutes had passed before Joran told me that she was staying at the "Holiday Inn" hotel. Just to be sure, I repeated "Holiday Inn". Satish also asked Joran: "Holiday Inn"! I then accelerated until I hit ninety kilometers an hour. The exhaust of my car makes a lot of noise. The faster I drive the noisier it becomes. I immediately turned into the first road that leads to the "Holiday Inn". (the J.B. Irausquin Boulevard; comment reporting officer). At the "Holiday Inn" I stopped under the roof that covered the most easterly lane of the two lanes that go past the lobby of afore mentioned hotel. The roof is supported by columns and thus is split into two. She was sleeping. Joran woke her up. According to me Joran said to her that we were at the hotel. She got out. I had not seen this. I heard something fall. I heard Joran say in Papiamentu shit she has fallen down. Joran exited through the same car door as where she had fallen down to help her up. That was the right back door. I had seen the girl on the ground. I saw Joran help her. I saw that the girl turned around and pushed Joran into the car. I heard that she said something to Joran. I was unable to hear what she had said to Joran. The car radio had been turned down somewhat, the volume was maybe at the nine level or something like that. Joran looked surprised. She walked away from Joran. What I saw is that she was walking towards the lobby. I did not see her enter the lobby. I saw that she leaned against a pillar with one hand. Joran had gotten back into the car and was sitting behind Satish. In the lobby I saw a man walking up to the girl. I saw that he had a radio in his left hand. I assumed that he was talking into the radio because he held it closely in front of his mouth. It was a dark coloured man. He was fairly tall. He wore a black T-shirt and black pants.I had slowly started pulling up. I saw that there was contact between the girl and the dark coloured man. Contact in the sense that it was verbal contact. I did not see the man touch the girl. The man was standing very close to the girl. I thought that she was in good hands and kept on driving. She was pretty drunk when I dropped her off. I estimate that it was approximately 02.10 hours when I dropped her off at her hotel. After I had dropped her off at the hotel I took the shortest way towards the main road. I immediately drove to Joran's place and dropped him off there. I think it took me about 15 minutes to get there. I estimate that it was approximately 02.25 hours. After I dropped Joran off I drove straight home. I took me about 15 minutes. Joran doesn't live far away from me. I estimate that it was approximately 02.40 hours. Satish immediately went to bed/sleep. I had turned on the television in the living room. Like that I went in and out of my room. Watching a little television and then sitting behind my computer. I stayed up for about an hour after I had arrived at home. I had phoned no-one, after I got home. I had spoken to no-one until I woke up at approximately 14.00 hours. I have no girlfriend and I have never had a girlfriend. To your question whether I had also touched/felt up the girl, I have to answer you negatively. I have also not seen Satish feeling/touching her up.On the way to the Lighthouse and from the Lighthouse to the hotel, I had stopped nowhere. I had the windows of my car closed and the radio on loud.D.S. On 6-9 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

PROCES-VERBAALWe, Dennis Domenico JACOBS and Luigi Angelo Giovanni CROES, head Police officer and Police officer first class with the Korps Politie Aruba, first mentioned officer is attached to the Robbery Protection Team (Atraco Team) and last mentioned officer is attached to the Section Often Occuring Crimes District 2, declare/state the following. On June 9th 2005, at approximately 12.00 hours, we the reporting officers interviewed as suspect in this the man named: Joran Andreas Petrus van der SLOOT, born in Arnhem, Netherlands on August 6th 1987, no profession student (International School of Aruba) and living on Montanja number 19 on Aruba. His statement was made in dutch and was transcribed by me, JACOBS, and goes as follows. Before we, the reporting officers, started the interview, I, JACOBS, informed the suspect that he was not obliged to make a statement and that this interview would be recorded on tape.Although I have been informed by you that I under no obligation to make statements, I am still willing to make a statement in accordance with the truth. On Sunday, I do not remember the date any more, I went at approximately 16.00 hours, to the "Excelsior Casino" at the Holiday Inn Hotel to play "Texas Hold'm poker". (with this the suspect is talking about May 29th 2005). I went with my father named "Paul van der SLOOT" to the casino. I went to play "Texas Hold'm Poker" with my father. It is a poker game in which you get 7 cards and you have to make a card combination with your best (5) cards. You get 500 U.S. $ of fake money and with this money you play. I was done sooner than my father and I went and hung around in the casino. When it was half time of the game my father wanted to go home to go and babysit my ten year old brother. At my father's request I sat in for him and played "Texas Hold'm poker. I am not sure as to when half time was but I think it was between 19.00 and 20.00 hours. I kept on gambling until I lost too. This was according to me until 21.30 to 22.00 hours. I went to walk around in the casino and after that went to the "Blackjack" table to play blackjack. While I was sitting at the table the girl "Natalee" that is missing now to the blackjack table together with her friends. When the English speaking girls came to the blackjack table they introduced themselves. I do not remember the names of the girls anymore but they were from the same group of students that Natalee belonged to. According to me the friends of Natalee played blackjack but Natalee didn't. A girl that was sitting at my left side on the table asked me in English if I could help her play blackjack because she had lost U.S. $ 360,= of her father's money. The girl bet U.S. $ 20,= in the game and I helped her win U.S. $ 100,= with it. After the girl had won U.S. $ 100,= I advised her to call it quits but she wanted to continue. I told her again that she should stop and her friends also said that she should stop. Probably the girl after that went to cash in her chips for money. The girlfriends of the girl asked me if I was going to "Carlos & Charlies" that night. I told them that I couldn't do that because I had school tomorrow. The girls kept insisting that I should meet them at "Carlos & Charlies" because it was their last night on Aruba. After they kept insisting I agreed to meet with at "Carlos & Charlies". I don't know that name of the girl but I remember her from a photo in the newspaper on which Natalee was printed on the left side of her friends and the other girl was on the right side of the friends. This girl is the same girl that sat at my left side at the blackjack table. After this I told the girl that it was OK and that I would do my best to go to "Carlos & Charlies". After that the group of girls walked to the Sportsbar. In the Sportsbar I also saw to two acquaintances who were watching baseball. I greeted my two acquaintances and told them that I was doing fine too and that I would be going to "Carlos & Charlies" that night. My two acquaintances are named "Luis" and "Joshua". I regularly meet them at Carlos & Charlies. The last name of Luis is "BETANCOURT". I do not know the last name of Joshua. Luis BETANCOURT is a Venezuelan and according to me Joshua is Colombian but I don't know that for sure. After that I walked next to the group of girls and they said to me that I should not forget to go to Carlos & Charlies. I told that I would do my best. The girl who stood printed on the right side in the newspaper told me that she was going to take a shower and that she would then go to Carlos & Charlies. I did not make an agreement with the girl as to how late I would meet them at Carlos & Charlies. After that I walked outside through the casino and when I got outside I called my father from my mobile phone which has the number "REMOVED" on the mobile phone of my mother. My mother has a mobile phone with the number "REMOVED". I called my father on that phone because my mother was outside of the country and my father had her phone in his possession. When I called my father it was approximately 23.00 hours. I told my father that I was ready and if he could come and pick me up at "Mc Donalds". After that I had called my friend "Jaime CARASQUILLA" on his mobile phone. I do not know his phone number from memory but I have programmed his mobile phone number in the memory of my mobile phone under the name "Beto". I asked Beto what he was doing and whether he wanted to accompany me in going to Carlos & Charlies. Beto answered me that he was doing nothing but that he could not accompany me to Carlos & Charlies because he had to go to work the next day. Beto works with a transport company but I do not know the name of that company. After that I called Deepak KALPOE and asked him what he was doing and if he wanted to come with me to Carlos & Charlies. Deepak told me he was closing up "Inex" and that he would accompany me to Carlos & Charlies because he didn't have to go to work the next day. Deepak told me that he would be going home first to take a bath and that after that he would come and pick me up at my place. Deepak's nickname is "Tupac". Deepak has a mobile phone with the number "REMOVED". I walked through the Hyatt parking lot where they have a Coca Cola vending machine and there I bought a can of coke. After that I walked to Mc Donalds and had bought a Mc Flurry there. At 23.00 hours my father came to pick me up at Mc Donalds. I am not sure about the time because I never wear a watch. To your question as to where my mobile phone is, I answer that it is at home. My mobile phone is on my desk in my room.To your question whether I have a girlfriend, I answer to you that I had a girlfriend. After this happened I told my girlfriend what had happened and she wasn't happy about it. My girlfriend's name is "Elaine" but I do not remember het last name now. I do not know the address where Elaine lives but I can point out her house to you. Elaine is Aruban and she studies at the Colegio Arubano Oranjestad. A few weeks ago she and her fellow students went to Venezuela. She now is in class V-4 on the Colegio Arubano and she is 17 years old. Elaine has a mobile phone, but her name is under the nickname "Fishy" in the memory of my mobile phone. I have to say that I have another girlfriend now. Her name is "Florencia METZ". She just graduated from the Mavo and lives behind "Codemsa". Her friends and acquaintances call her "Flor". I do not know the number of her house but I can point it out to you. Flor has a mobile phone with the number "REMOVED". Flor is from Argentina and I talk dutch with her. After my father came and picked me up at Mc Donalds we drove home. I took a shower. After that I had gotten dressed again and according to me at approximately 24.00 hours, Deepak and Satish came and picked me up at home. Before they came and picked me up I had called Deepak to ask where he has and he told me that he was on his way. At approximately 00.15 hours the three of us left for Carlos & Charlies. (with this Monday May 30th is meant; comment Jacobs). I have to say that I also called Flor and asked if she wanted to come to Carlos & Charlies. She answered that she wasn't allowed to go from her dad. Flor is 16 years old.To your question as to what clothes I was wearing when I was picked up by Deepak and Satish, I can answer the following. I wore a white/blue shirt, a blue/white jeans trouser or a three-quart black trouser and a couple of white shoes or crème coloured boots. I do not remember now what underwear I was wearing. I do not remember how Deepak and Satish were dressed. I didn't tell my father that I was going to Carlos & Charlies with Deepak and Satish. I hadn't asked my father for permission because he would most likely refuse and usually I ask permission from my mother. To your question with whom I regularly go to Carlos & Charlies, I answer you that I regularly go there with "Freddy ZEDAN" and "Jaime CARASQUIA". Freddy is a Venezuelan and Jaime is a Columbian. The boy named "Koen GOTENBOS" also regularly goes out with us. The names of my three friends are in the memory of my mobile phone. Freddy is under the name "Fefi" and Koen under the name "Cul".After that we drove straight to Carlos & Charlies. Deepak was the driver but I cannot remember now who was sitting beside him. I do not remember now if it was Satish or me. I estimate that we arrived at Carlos & Charlies between 00.15 and 00.30 hours. Deepak parked his car on the parking lot behind Carlos & Charlies and after that we walked into the building of Carlos & Charlies. I don't have to pay because I have a VIP pass. With my VIP pass Deepak and Satish were also allowed in.To your question as to who gave me the VIP pass to Carlos & Charlies, I answer you that I got it through the office of Carlos & Charlies. I do not remember with the help of who I got the VIP pass. I got to Carlos & Charlies about one to three times a week. When we entered Carlos & Charlies I was greeted by the girl who is printed on the picture. When we got in I saw that Natalee was dancing on the stage/podium. I saw that Natalee wasn't holding a drink. The friend of Natalee said to me to go and dance with Natalee because she fancied me. I took her word for it that Natalee was interested in me. Natalee made hand gestures for me to come and dance with her. I also did not see Natalee with a purse/handbag. She did this about seven to eight times. After I had refused to dance with Natalee Deepak, Satish and myself walked to the bar. There we bought a "Yard Whisky Coke". Such a drink costs U.S. $ 12,-. It is a plastic cup and it comes in different colours. I payed for all three drinks. I got a red cup but I do not remember now what colour cups Deepak and Satish got. Then the three of us walked back to the stage/podium. While I stood there Natalee saw me again. When she saw me she got down from the stage/podium and walked over to me. She grabbed my hand and asked me if I would go to the bar with her. On the way there she said to me that I had to drink a Jellyshots (handwritten with an arrow pointing to this section of the statement, it says "or body shot") off of her. I at that moment in time did know what a Jellyshot was but I did not know that she went and laid down on the bar and that I had to drink the Jellyshot from her belly button. When we arrived at the bar Natalee asked for a Jellyshot. Natalee then went and laid on top of the metal bar. The bartender handed me a small plastic container/cup in which was the Jellyshot that I placed on her belly button. After I had done that I sucked the Jellyshot from her belly button. Jellyshot is a jello with alcohol in it. I do not know what kind of alcohol is in it. When Natalee got onto the bar I thought that she was drunk. I could clearly tell that Natalee had been drinking. I could smell this from the smell that came out of Natalee's mouth. I also have to say that when I saw Natalee dancing I also noticed that she had been drinking. While I was talking to Natalee Satish stood beside me the entire time. Then Natalee said that she also wanted to drink a Jellyshot but the bartender told me that bar was closed. After that Natalee and me walked to another bar that was still open at that time. I asked the bartender two shots of Bacardi 151. I still had the whisky coke in my hand. Natalee asked me if she should drink the Bacardi 151 in one go. I answered her affirmatively and she answered me that she would do it in two. Natalee said to me that she needed a "chaser" in order to drink the Bacardi. Natalee drank my whisky coke as a "chaser" and then she drank the Bacardi 151 in two goes. I payed for the two shots of Bacardi 151. I do not know where Deepak stood at that moment but according to me Satish was still standing beside me. I did not ask for another kind of alcoholic beverage because I always drink Bacardi 151. Bacardi 151 is 151 proof and that means that it is 75.5% alcohol. I payed U.S. $ 20,- for the two shots of Bacardi 151.After that Natalee, Satish and myself walked outside because Carlos & Charlies was almost empty. Outside I met an American tourist and he asked me if he could get my cup for free. I threw out the little cola that was still left in the cup and then I gave it to the tourist. Natalee took me by the hand and said that she wanted to go home with me. I had told her that I would take her home with me but I knew that would be impossible because my dad and my brothers were home. Satish, Natalee and myself walked together when she asked me if she could come home with me. After I told Natalee that she was allowed to go home with me she told her friends that she would meet up later with them at the Holiday Inn Hotel. At approximately 01.15 hours, we walked from Carlos & Charlies to the outside. To your question whether I called someone from my mobile phone when we were standing outside "Carlos & Charlies, I answer that I did not. At that moment I had not called anyone with my mobile phone. To your question whether I know what Deepak and Satish did with their cups, I answer you that I do not know that. Then Satish, Natalee and myself walked to Deepak's car. Natalee and I walked hand in hand. When we arrived at the car Deepak was already waiting for us. We got into the car and before Deepak drove off I told Deepak and Satish that Natalee wanted to go to my house but that I could not take her there because my father and brothers were home. After I told Deepak and Satish this they said it was OK. Then I told the girl that I could not take her to my house but that I could come to her hotel room. She answered me that she did not want to go to her hotel room and that she wanted to go to the North coast to watch the sharks. To your question as to what Natalee meant by wanting to go to my house, I answer you the following. With this Natalee according to me meant that she wanted to have fleshly intercourse with me. I could see from her body language that she wanted to have fleshly intercourse me. I do not know if Natalee had used narcotics. To your question as to who was driving the car and where we were sitting, I answer you the following. Deepak was driving the car, Satish was sitting next to him on the passenger seat. I was sitting on the backseat behind Deepak and Natalee was sitting behind Satish. The volume of the radio was at the normal volume and the windows of the car were open. With normal volume I mean that we four in the car were able to talk to each other and hear each other. When we were sitting in the car Natalee did not speak with Deepak and Satish. Without asking me who Deepak and Satish were Natalee got into the car with them. I did tell Natalee that Deepak and Satish were my friends. I have to say that Natalee asked me if Deepak and Satish were rich people, because she was impressed by their car. We drove off the parking lot and Natalee saw that her friends and girlfriends were standing between Royal Plaza Mall and the bus stop. We couldn't turn left so Deepak had to drive another around the front of Carlos & Charlies again. After that Deepak was able to turn left and Deepak stopped his car on the public road between Royal Mall Plaza and the bus stop. When we were driving passed Natalee's friends she shouted out of the back window something like "Aruba". I did not hear what Natalee yelled at her friends. At that moment Natalee was very happy. I thought Natalee was attractive. I felt Natalee wanted to party on with me. Natalee held my hand in the car. After Natalee had yelled/shouted to the group a young man came up to the car. The young man shouted at Natalee to get out of the car. Natalee answered that she did not want to get out of the car. The young man for the second time said to Natalee to get out the car. Natalee refused again to get out of the car and said that she was going to stay with us. After this the young man didn't say anything anymore to Natalee. Without me saying anyting to Deepak, he started pulling away. After this we drove past the front of "Karma" and then north of the Reinnassance Hotel. There Deepak turned right and then right again into the direction of the hotels. We drove south of Royal Plaza Mall but I did not see Natalee's friends anymore. In the car Natalee told me that she was from "Alabama" and that her family was rich. She asked me if I was rich too. I answered her that I wasn't rich but that I wasn't poor either, I told her that my father was a judge and that my mother was a teacher teaching at the same school I was on. When Natalee was talking to me she was sitting with one leg into my direction. Natalee had her hand placed against her leg because I could look between her legs. Natalee wore a skirt and I suspect that she did not want us to look between her legs.I told Deepak to drive to the Lighthouse because Natalee had said to me that she wanted to see sharks. I had told Natalee that there were no sharks but she insisted that she had seen sharks already. At no point had Natalee said to me that she wanted to go to the North Coast. With Deepak's car one cannot drive to the North Coast because his car is too low.To your question why I got the idea to drive to the Lighthouse, I answer you that I did this because Natalee commented that she wanted to go see sharks. She also commented that we could give a a sightseeing tour. When we drove south of Certified Supermarkt and Kong Hing Natalee had let go of my hand and had put her hand on my right leg and rubbed. When we arrived at the stoplights and before we drove in front of Benihana/Hooters Natalee grabbed me by the chin and we started kissing each other. The kissed for some time. We kissed until we got in the vicinity of Mc Donalds. I stopped kissing to look where we were and it is possible that I asked Deepak and Satish is we were driving to the Lighthouse. Deepak and Satish answered me that we were. During the drive a white rental car drove alongside us for about five to six seconds and Deepak wondered what was up with these men. The V-car turned into the direction of the Holiday Inn and we kept driving straight on. Driving past the front of the Marriot Hotel Natalee half fell asleep/half dozed off. After that she startled awake* and I asked her if she was OK. To this she answered that everything was fine. After that we started kissing again. I kissed her first. After that Natalee placed her hands on the top of my legs and moved...*comment of the translator, With startled awake I mean that if a person falls halfway asleep/starts to doze off and suddenly jolts his/her head up again and waking up, that is what I mean with "startled awake", the sudden waking up from falling asleep/dozing off....her hand into the direction of my penis. I placed my left hand at that moment in time between the inside of her leg. I started stroking her breasts with my right hand. Natalee was wearing a bra. I did not put my hand into her bra. Natalee had normal size breasts. Beyond the Marriot Hotel and into the direction of Tierra del Sol I had fingered Natalee. With my fingers I pushed Natalee's panty to the side and fingered her with two fingers. According to me she was shaved because I did not feel any hair. I first stuck my middle finger inside and then I put my index finger inside. While I was doing this Natalee and I kept kissing. I fingered Natalee for about one to two minutes and then pulled my hand out of her panty and placed my hand on her hip. I stopped fingering Natalee because I found it improper/not nice towards Deepak and Satish. I started kissing her again and after that Natalee asked me if Deepak and Satish were my slaves. I answered her that they weren't my slaves. Natalee then said that her parents had a plantation and that to her black people were slaves. To your question as to what panty Natalee was wearing, I answer you the following. Natalee wore a dark blue panty. According to me they were embroidered panties and according to me these were flowers. To your question as to what Deepak and Satish were doing while I was fingering Natalee, I answer to you that they did nothing. I wasn't watching Deepak and Satish while I was fingering Natalee. When I was fingering Natalee in the car the volume of the music was not loud. Natalee could hear me when I was talking to her in the car.To your question whether Deepak, Satish of myself called anyone on the way to the Lighthouse, I answer you that we did not. It is possible that I did receive a message from Flor. While we were driving in the direction of the Lighthouse and were close to the dunes, Natalee fell half asleep/dozed off again. When she startled awake again she asked me where we were and I answered her that we were at the Lighthouse. Natalee then said to me that we should take her to the Holiday Inn Hotel because she had to travel the next day. We drove up to the lighthouse and then we took the same road down again towards the Holiday Inn. While we were driving in the direction/towards the hotel, she dozed off several times/fell half asleep several times and we didn't kiss anymore. We drove back to the Holiday Inn Hotel to drop Natalee off there. When we arrived there Deepak parked on the left lane and not on the right lane that lies in front of the Lobby. Natalee got out the back door on the right side and she fell to the floor. I got out of the same car door and helped her get up. After I did that Natalee said to me not to touch her and she walked into the direction/towards the lobby. I saw that she touched a pillar. We did not kiss and I got back into the car. Then we drove home. Later, when we just found out she had gone missing Deepak and Satish told me that they had seen a guard dressed in black when we were driving off. According to them the guard also had a walkie talkie in his hands. Deepak and Satish said that the guard walked towards/in the direction of Natalee. (with Natalee is meant the missing woman named "Natalee Ann HOLLOWAY"; comment Jacobs).I have to say that while we were driving past the front of the container harbour, Natalee told me that her mother was the sister of "Hitler". I laughed and did not ask her what she meant by that. She had said this to me about five times. To your question as to what route Deepak took to drop me off home, I answer you the following. After Deepak left the hotel grounds he took a left and then kept driving until we got to the stoplights of Mc. Donalds. There he turned left again and he drove into the direction of the Police station in Noord and then he turned right until he got to the new stadium and there he turned left and brought me home. You are informing me that when I was first interviewed as a witness that I told the detective that Natalee and me got out of the car close to/near Fisherman's Hut and walked in the sea. To your question as to what I can state about that, I answer you that I did not say that. It also isn't in my witness statement. If you have more questions, I am willing to answer them. This is my statement that is truthful/this is my statement that I have truthfully given.J.A.P. van der SLOOTAfter suspect J.A.P. van der SLOOT had read through the statement he gave, he stated that he would persist in it/stick with it and signed it.Of this we, the reporting officers, on our oath as officer have made this proces-verbaal, closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 9th 2005. On some date in June 2005, while the 2 security guards were under arrest (and before their late evening release on June 13, 2005), Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s lawyer, ANTONIO CARLO, spoke to one of the security guards, despite the fact that the security guards already each had an attorney.

On November 27, 2006 PETER R. DE VRIES stated to FOX News:

Well, one of the biggest things is that we found out that Joran's lawyer, Mr. Antonio Carlo, paid a secret visit to the head prosecutor, Karin Janssen, because he wanted to “clear his conscience”--that is what he said.
This is strange, because according to the Dutch Law and rules, it is highly unusual for lawyers and public prosecutors to meet during an investigation. It’s not done. But Mr. Carlo insisted to have a talk with the head prosecutor, and then, well, he said, “Okay. Come along to my office, and then we have a talk.”
And when he went there, they had that talk, and then he said, “Well, I want you to know that my client, Joran van der Sloot, played a major part in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.”
And then he stated, “that it was, of course, up to the police to get the full proof for this,” but that's what he said. And later--months later--the head prosecutor wrote him a letter, and asked the lawyer to give more details about what he had said, and then the lawyer got scared at that moment because he was thinking, he supposed that it was a “top secret” meeting in the past, and now it was, certainly, on paper, so, he wrote a letter back and said, “No, I think you must have misunderstood me,” and he denied everything.VAN SUSTEREN: When was this meeting between Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer and the prosecutor? Now, Natalee, of course, disappeared at the end of May of 2005. When, in relationship to the disappearance, did this meeting…?
de VRIES: It was very short after his arrest--in June 2005.VAN SUSTEREN: Did you confront Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer about this and say, “Did this happen?”de VRIES: Yes, I went to his office when I was at Aruba, and with a candid camera with me, and then he admitted that he had a meeting with the head prosecutor and that they wrote letters to each other. He was very confused.
He was in panic when I told him what I knew.I also wrote a letter to the head prosecutor, and she also admits that there was a meeting, and that there is now a disagree about what happened then.VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know, Peter, is there some rule that prevents Karin Janssen, the prosecutor, from talking to the public, or, at least, revealing some information to sort of get some of the mystery out of the investigation?de VRIES: In Holland it is, absolutely, not done for a lawyer to talk to a prosecutor during an investigation. It is not allowed.

Three more arrests made in Holloway disappearanceARUBA—Aruban police arrested three men early Thursday who may have been the last to see Natalee Holloway the morning she disappeared. Police had previously called the trio person of interest in the case of the missing Mountain Brook teen. Their names have not been released. The three previously told police they dropped Holloway off at her hotel after driving her home from a club around 1 a.m. May 30. Authorities are still holding Abraham Jones and Antonius Mickey John, two former security guards, also labeled suspects. A government spokesman said today that the students told police they saw men fitting John and Jones’ description in the area when they dropped Holloway off. Friends and family of John and Jones had criticized police for not arresting other three men. “My personal view is that the police let these guys go to keep track of them to monitor their calls and movements,” said Ruben Trapenberg, a government spokesman. Officials have announced a noon news conference to update the media on the investigation. Hannah Wolfson

LAW CENTER
Three more arrested in Aruba missing teen case
ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- (CNN) -- Three more suspects were arrested Thursday in the investigation into the disappearance of Alabama 18-year-old Natalee Holloway in Aruba, bringing those in custody to five.
Juron van der Sloot -- the 17-year-old son of an Aruban judge -- was among those taken into custody early Thursday. Authorities also arrested two brothers of Surinamese origin, Satish and Depak Kalpoe, ages 18 and 19.
Authorities said the three were the last people seen with Holloway, who was in Aruba on a high school graduation trip. She was seen leaving an Oranjestad nightclub, Carlos 'N Charlie's, with them about 1:30 a.m. on May 30, they said.
In previous questioning, the three told Police they visited a beach with Holloway before taking her back to her hotel, the Holiday Inn, about 2 a.m.
Holloway, from the Birmingham suburb of Mountain Brook, has not been seen since then. She was visiting the Caribbean island off Venezuela with about 100 classmates and parent chaperones to celebrate graduation.
van der Sloot met Holloway in the casino of her hotel the day before her disappearance, authorities said.
Under the Dutch judicial system, which Aruba follows as a protectorate of The Netherlands, people are arrested on suspicion of a crime but formally charged later. Authorities did not say what charges the three may face.
Authorities arrested 28-year-old Abraham Jones and 30-year-old Mickey John on Sunday.
Authorities said their witness statements did not lead to the three arrests, but that Police had been watching the youths ever since they were questioned shortly after Holloway's disappearance.
Towels covered the faces of the three as authorities led them from their homes. Police searched the homes afterward. At a news conference later, Police said they seized a vehicle and other items but declined to elaborate.
Reporters asked authorities why they previously questioned the trio before releasing them and why they didn't seize the vehicle at that time.
Calling the arrests a "tactical" move, Police denied suggestions that class, wealth or race played a role in the investigation. The three arrested Thursday are from comparatively well-to-do families, while the two detained earlier live on the island's poorer, more industrial eastern side.
"The suspicion of a suspect has nothing to do with the color of his skin, but the grounds of suspicion," said chief prosecutor Karin Janssen.
Aruba Prime Minister Nelson Oduber vowed, "On this island, nobody stands above the law."
Authorities have not said whether they believe Holloway is dead, and her relatives, waiting for news in Aruba, have said they are clinging to hope that she is alive.
An FBI dive team has left the island, saying the government gave them no specific areas to search. And a second dive team said Thursday they had searched all the public coastlines and were awaiting further direction from officials.
Police were investigating any possible tie between the three arrested Thursday and the two arrested Sunday.
According to Police statements, at least one of the three arrested Thursday told authorities that as Holloway was getting out of their car at her hotel, she stumbled and one of them helped her up. Walking to the hotel, she stumbled a second time, and a "dark-colored" man wearing a black T-shirt and carrying a radio helped her, the statement said.
A hotel employee who has reviewed surveillance tapes from the morning of Holloway's disappearance said they don't show any sign of the teenager.
Jones' attorney, Chris Lejuez, said his client is accused of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and capital kidnapping, or kidnapping resulting in death.
Jones' and John's relatives maintain their innocence. John's mother, Ann, said, "My son knows nothing, nothing, concerning this girl."
Lejuez said he knew of no connection between Jones and John and the three others arrested. Of the latter, he said, "The public has been screaming for their arrest for quite some time now."
Jones and John were security guards working at the Hotel Allegro, which is near the Holiday Inn where Holloway was staying. Lejuez said neither was working the night she disappeared.
The two went before the judge Wednesday, but prosecutors did not provide much of the evidence against them, Lejuez said.
The two can remain jailed for up to four months, but such detainment requires more appearances before a judge, and the amount of evidence prosecutors must cite to hold them grows larger, the lawyer said.
"I don't see any reason to keep them," Lejuez said. "I have no reason to believe they have enough evidence to charge them."
CNN's Karl Penhaul contributed to this report.

On 6-9 “About Crime.com” reported:

Three More Arrested in Natalee Holloway Case
Three men who admitted they were with an Alabama teen on the night she disappeared in Aruba have now been arrested in connection with the case. The three were questioned early in the investigation then released by authorities.
Aruba Attorney General Caren Janssen confirmed that the three men, described as students, have been arrested. Fox News reported that one of them is the son of a local judge. The three told Police that they took Holloway from the nightclub where she was last seen by friends to a beach and then dropped her off around 2 a.m. at the hotel where she was staying.
Security cameras at that hotel, however, did not show her being returned.
The three were arrested around 5:30 a.m. and Police were searching their homes. Two of the men arrested are Surinamese citizens and the other is a Dutch citizen. Previously, the men told Police that the Dutch student had sex with Holloway at the beach.
They said when they returned Holloway to the hotel she was so drunk that she fell down. When they tried to help her, she refused their assistance and was escorting into the hotel by a black man in a black T-shirt and black pants.
Security Guards Also HeldMeanwhile, an Aruban judge ruled yesterday that Police can continue to hold two former hotel security guards in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, but both men and their families deny that they ever saw the missing Alabama teen.
Authorities had hoped that at least one of the men would have provided some information about the disappearance of Holloway, but Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, claim they never saw the teen on the night that she vanished hours before she and her classmates were scheduled to fly back to Alabama.
Speculation was some of the specific areas searched for Holloway came as a result of information obtained from the two security guards, but after the court hearing, their attorneys revealed that both men are denying knowing anything about the teen, except what they read in the press.
Under the laws in Aruba, the two men can be held for another eight days without being charged while Police continue to gather evidence, but an attorney for one of the men told reporters that there has been no physical evidence linking them to Holloway.
No Evidence, No Clues"Both of them are very concerned," Chris Lejuez, the defense attorney for one of the men, said. "They are nervous. They know they are being suspected of something very heavy, very serious, but they are confident, both of them. And they have shown that confidence to me, that they very categorically deny being involved in this case."
Lejuez said that no witnesses have reported seeing the men with Holloway. "In my opinion, there is no evidence whatsoever that they are involved in the disappearance of Natalee," he said.
Meanwhile, the common-law wife of one of the men said she and he were together continuously during the time Holloway disappeared. She told reporters that she and Jones went to a concert that night and returned home together. She said Jones was sick later that night, but showed up for work the next day at 7 a.m.

On 6-9 FOX News BILL O’REILLY reported:

Why America cares about Natalee Holloway, that is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."
Not since Laci Peterson has there been such interest in a criminal case. Even "Factor" viewers, who are not usually fixated on crime, are engrossed in Natalee's tragedy. That's because she could be anyone's daughter, just as Laci could have been anyone's wife. Natalee Holloway is the all-American girl, a good student, good daughter, good friend. Her disappearance is simply horrible. And most parents feel the pain of her family. We can all picture that happening to us.
As you may know, we do not speculate here on "The Factor." We have no idea what happened to Natalee or why she left the bar with some Aruban men. I've heard some irresponsible media speculate about that, and it makes me angry. For now, every American should be praying that Natalee is found alive and that any person who harmed her in any way pays a drastic price.
Aruba itself is already paying a price. That island depends on American tourism, and a case like this can't help the tourism industry there. Aruba is basically a benign island, very little violent crime. But according to the DEA, it is a drug transshipment center for the Colombian cartels.
That being said, it seems the Aruban authorities are being diligent in investigating what happened to Natalee and are cooperating with the FBI.
Now, every American child should be following Natalee's story. You should make sure your kid knows what's going on. This is a cautionary tale. That could happen in New York City, Miami Beach, anywhere. If young girls party in public, they had better be careful. Predators are everywhere. Think back to when you were 18 years old. Did you do dumb things? I did. Plenty of them.
But today the stakes are much, much higher, because discipline is broken down in many places. Violence and anti-social behavior is much more intense than it once was. Just in a few moments we'll show you some video taken of high school students misbehaving in Arkansas. That never would have happened 20 years ago.
It is every parent's duty to be honest with their children, to warn them about the evils of the world, to advise them of proper behavior. Of course, young people will often ignore that advice and there's nothing to be done about that.
But the awful case of Natalee Holloway should be page one in your house and in classrooms all over America. If this could have happened to her, it could happen to any young woman. And that's "The Memo."

On 6-9 JULIA RENFRO (the transplanted AMERICAN in ARUBA who moved to ARUBA 17+ years ago and owns an interest in many ARUBA businesses including an ARUBAAN's news-source) claimed to FOX News BILL O’REILLY, "The Police told us that they have solid evidence against two of the men. The other three were considered as witnesses against those two men." Of BETH HOLLOWAY, RENFRO claimed, "She's doing amazingly well - she's got a lot of hope and feels 100 percent sure that her daughter is alive and will be found, and that the Police are using tactics to get Natalee back."
On 6-9 FOX News reported, “The Prime Minister of Aruba has publicly acknowledged that Natalee Holloway's disappearance will hurt tourism. Reporting from the island, Fox News correspondent Rick Leventhal said people there are noticeably anxious. "There's discomfort with all the attention... And the fact that all this international media is here for this story isn't sitting well. They're fragile right now because this is the first time anything like this has ever happened." The Factor reiterated that Aruba is normally a placid and peaceful place. "I don't think there's any question the island is safe. It's not a dangerous island - it's safe and has a low crime rate."

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Tonight, breaking news: 18-year-old American girl, Natalee Holloway, goes on her high school senior trip to Aruba, disappears into thin air. Now, three new additional arrests made just a few hours ago in the Natalee Holloway case, bringing the total number of arrestees to five. Could Natalee still be alive?

And tonight, five men now behind bars in connection with the disappearance of this girl, an 18-year-old high school beauty, Natalee Holloway. Tonight, in addition to two former security guards, the three men who escorted Natalee from a local bar in custody. Tonight, we’ll be speaking to the mother of one of the first suspects in custody, Ann John. Also with us from Aruba, Mickey John’s lawyer, Noraina Pietersz; and Abraham Jones' lawyer, Chris LeJuez; in Palm Beach, Florida, defense attorney Michelle Suskauer; in Atlanta, defense attorney Renee Rockwell; L.A., psychoanalyst Bethany Marshall. But first, let’s go to Aruba and CNN correspondent Karl Penhaul. Karl, more arrests, bring me up-to-date, friend. KARL PENHAUL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: There were those three arrests. Those three arrests, Nancy, took place before dawn this morning. The houses were also searched. Two houses were raided. Some property was taken away, among the property, a computer and also a car. Two of the suspects were brothers. They are 18- and 19-years-old, we’re told. And the third suspect is a 17-year-old. What prosecutors have told us is that there’s evidence that Natalee met the 17-year-old in the casino at the "Holiday Inn" the night before she disappeared and those are the three men that she was last seen in their company outside Carlos and Charlie’s bar. GRACE: Karl Penhaul, you say that their cars were taken and computers. What do Police hope to gain from their computers? PENHAUL: Police have not said to us what they expect to gain from the items. In fact, they haven’t officially mentioned that they have taken a computer. But we have seen on videotape taken at the scene, we do see Investigators taking away the hard drive of a computer. But all options, as the prosecutor say, are open. They’re looking at all scenarios, in their words. So presumably, what they’re going to do is troll through that hard drive and see if there is anything on it that can give them any clues, Nancy. GRACE: Karl Penhaul, the car that they impounded could have a lot of significance. Explain. PENHAUL: This car seems to have been the car that Natalee Holloway got into along with those three men and drove off from Carlos and Charlie’s bar. Now, we’re obviously 11 days after Natalee’s disappearance. And I asked the Police today as to why they hadn’t confiscated his car to start with. They do say, however, that they did investigate the car initially shortly after Natalee’s disappearance but they didn’t seize it. They didn’t confiscate it. Obviously, I put it to them now, that a lot of any evidence, possible evidence in that car, could have been contaminated. But they say the confiscation at this point was a tactical decision, Nancy. GRACE: Tactical decision? Renee Rockwell, if you were looking for DNA evidence, fiber evidence, like what she was wearing that night, hair, fingerprints, you’ve got to move in quick. This is 11 days old. Why didn’t the cops seize it the day after?RENEE ROCKWELL, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: And you can certainly imagine that it could be contaminated, Nancy. But the thing that concerns me the most is we don’t even know that this young lady is dead. I mean, there is no body. There is no blood that we know of yet. This is a situation where, god forbid, if she’s just gone missing, doesn’t sound like the kind of girl that would do that. After all, Nancy, she’s an honor roll student. The night before she’s about to go back home, she’s packed, she’s got her passport out. And she’s got a full scholarship to do a premed program at the University of Alabama. This doesn’t look like a girl...GRACE: Renee, what’s your point? No offense, but what’s your point? We don’t have a body yet, so we shouldn’t be investigating? Are you siding with the cops, 11 days, a day late and a dollar short, grabbing this car and this computer? ROCKWELL: I’m saying, Nancy, that they’re certainly under world pressure to find this young lady. This is an island that survives off of tourism. Over 650,000 people a year are visiting this island. And they’re certainly trying to find something to satisfy the world. But we don’t know if she’s dead. I was just saying that she doesn’t sound like a young lady that is just going to go missing. GRACE: I agree, Renee. Never has left home like this before. Straight-A student, parents waiting on her, full scholarship waiting for her at the University of Alabama. I agree with you, Renee Rockwell. Let’s go now back down to Aruba. Joining us, one of the defense attorneys for the first two suspects arrested, Chris LeJuez. He is the defense attorney for Abraham Jones. Chris, thank you for being with us tonight. Tonight, three more arrests go down for the three young men who escorted Natalee Holloway out of the bar that night. Chris, have you seen the statements of these three men? CHRIS LEJUEZ, ATTORNEY FOR ABRAHAM JONES: Nancy, I have seen only the statements of two of the three men. The evidence that I got, the documentation, the files that I received from the prosecutor’s office contained only two of the statements. My colleague has asked the prosecutor why only the two, not the one of the Dutch boy? She was told by the prosecutor, at least by the prosecutor’s office, that statement would not be relevant to the case of her suspect, her client.GRACE: You know what? If all three of these young men were in the car, I don’t see how one of them is irrelevant. But back to Chris LeJuez, the defense attorney for Abraham Jones, what was in the statement?LEJUEZ: We know only what was in the statement of the other two boys. We do not know what was in the statement of the third boy.GRACE: Right, what was in those two statements? What did they say?LEJUEZ: That they met her at Carlos and -- at the tropical nightclub here in Aruba. I would prefer not to mention the name. And then they took her in the car. She went with them. She met some friends alongside the road, nearby the mall, shopping mall. The friends said to her if she got out of the car and continue with them. She refused. She actually preferred to go with these boys. They went all the way to the other side of the island behind a lighthouse. They spent some time there. She was kissing with one of the boys. And after that, they took her to the hotel where they dropped her off right at the front door of the front lobby. GRACE: Kissing? Kissing where? In the car, on the beach, just kissing? LEJUEZ: In the car, for sure. It’s a little more than kissing. GRACE: Chris, a girl is missing tonight. She could be dead. LEJUEZ: Yes.GRACE: These three claim one of them were in the car kissing and a little bit more than kissing this young girl, this young American girl, and now she’s gone missing. Did they say they dropped her off at the hotel? What happened then? LEJUEZ: Well, both the statement that I’ve read from two of this young boys state very clearly that they dropped her off at the hotel at approximately 2 o’clock in the morning. She got out of the car. She was under the influence of alcohol. And then they saw her walk through the front door of the hotel inside the lobby. At that point -- and perhaps that’s interesting to know -- at that point, they state they saw a man dressed in a black pair of trousers with a black t-shirt and, like, a walkie-talkie in his hand come to her, speak to her, and that’s when they left. GRACE: Well, does this man they claim that they saw approaching her at the hotel bear any resemblance to your client? LEJUEZ: The fact that they are of the black color, skin color, may be a resemblance. Not otherwise. My client never wears a t-shirt. GRACE: OK, that’s what I was going to ask you. Was that his type of security uniform? I know your guy was a security guard. What did his security uniform look like? LEJUEZ: Black trousers with a white shirt, and sometimes he would wear a black or dark blue jacket. They would never wear a black t-shirt. And they stated specifically more than once that he wore a black t-shirt. GRACE: Now, have the Police searched your client’s home, his vehicle? Have they found a black t-shirt belonging to him? LEJUEZ: No. As far as I know, they have not. They have not shown me everything they have yet, and they do not have the obligation yet. GRACE: To Karl Penhaul, CNN correspondent there in Aruba, Karl, do we have any more details about what happened the night Natalee went missing? PENHAUL: Few more details than that. As Chris LeJuez has just said, the three men who were arrested today say that they dropped Natalee off and that after that they did see this other man on the scene here. But beyond that, nothing more about her whereabouts. And the prosecutors today have admitted that they have no evidence as to whether Natalee is alive or dead. GRACE: Everybody, we are live in Aruba with the latest on the missing person case of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. Scrubbed in sunshine, this girl, straight-A student, never had a bit of trouble out of her, full scholarship waiting on her in the fall. Where is Natalee? Stay with us. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)BETH TWITTY, MOTHER OF MISSING GIRL: Our primary goal is to bring Natalee back home. We will do whatever it takes. As I’ve said from the beginning, I’m not leaving Aruba without her.(END VIDEO CLIP)(COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) KAREN ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN, CHIEF ARUBA PROSECUTOR: The suspicion for these two suspects range from murder, to homicide, to kidnapping with death as a result. We also have complicity or accessory to those two criminal acts.(END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: We are live in Aruba trying to find out the latest regarding a missing American girl, 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. Imagine you send your kid off on a senior trip and she vanishes into thin air. This is a girl who never gave anybody a minute’s trouble, straight-A student, in the dance corps, full scholarship waiting on her when she got back home. Tonight, let’s go back to Aruba. Now joining us, one of the suspect, Mickey John’s mother is with us, Ann John. Also with his, his lawyer, Noraina Pietersz. Ladies, thank you for being with us tonight. First to Ann John. This is Mickey John’s mother. Where was your son the night Natalee went missing? ANN JOHN, MOTHER OF MICKEY JOHN: My son, I think he was home at night in his bed, in his bed. GRACE: OK, you said you think. Do you know? JOHN: Well, I think, in the morning, my son went to work with me in the morning. From 6:00 to 2:00 (UNINTELLIGIBLE) back home. But due to my son is a grown man, sometimes he goes in his bed and lie down. So, I didn’t know if it was (UNINTELLIGIBLE) but I think he was in his bed sleeping. GRACE: Did you see him come in that night? JOHN: No. Did I -- excuse me?GRACE: Did you see him when he came home that night? JOHN: Yes, I saw him when he came home this night. Mostly, he...GRACE: What time did he get home? JOHN: Well, this time I’m sleeping already, because he’s a grown man. Sometimes he’s out (UNINTELLIGIBLE) street with the guys and comes in. Sometimes he calls me. Sometimes he don’t. GRACE: Miss John, what I’m trying to get at is the night that Natalee went missing, what time, when, approximately, did you see your son come home? JOHN: When Natalee was missing that night, I didn’t hear anything about that. The next day I heard that this little lady was missing. The night I didn’t know what she was missing. And then the other day I heard her. GRACE: Well, let me ask you one more time, Miss John. The night Natalee went missing, what time did you see your son come home? JOHN: Well, that Sunday to the Monday morning, my son went to me to work -- we went to work 6 o’clock to 2 o’clock in the afternoon. And he came home back with me at 2 o’clock. And he was home for the day. We was home for the day. GRACE: OK. I understand. Let me go to Mickey John’s defense attorney, Noraina Pietersz. Ms. Pietersz, thank you for being with us. Ma’am, from what I get, what I’m hearing, Ann John’s son, who’s now being held in connection with Natalee’s disappearance, got up with her the following morning after Natalee’s disappearance at 6:00 a.m. Is that your understanding? NORAINA PIETERSZ, MICKEY JOHN’S DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Yes. He was actually that night visiting the "Holiday Inn," to make that clear. He didn’t work that night. It was not his shift, but he was visiting. And according to his statement, he left the "Holiday Inn" around 12:00 p.m. And after that, he went straight home. He might have stopped somewhere nearby his house, but further than that, he didn’t do anything else than go home. GRACE: OK, 12:00 p.m. And Natalee went missing later, say, you know, ten hours later. I’m trying to get the time frame here. PIETERSZ: Around 1:30. She was missing officially around 1:30. GRACE: OK, 1:30 a.m. You’re telling me that your client was at home at that time or at the Holiday Inn? PIETERSZ: No, he was not at the "Holiday Inn" that time. He left already. He was not working. He was just visiting. He went there approximately at 9:00 a.m. and he left around 12:00 p.m. (to "Holiday Inn" at 9 AM on 5-29, and he left at 12:00 PM on 5-29) and he left at 12:00 PM on 5-29) And according to the statement of the two witnesses, the two guys now suspect, that they said they saw a security guard walking up to Natalee around, I assume, 2 o’clock. And that never could be my client because he wasn’t even working. So, he was not wearing a uniform. GRACE: Take a listen to this. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)RUTH MCVAY, MISSING GIRL’S FRIEND: She is most responsible, smart, beautiful, incredible friend that I’ve ever known. This is out of her character. And all we want to stress is that it’s of the utmost importance to pray as much as you can because she is such a wonderful person and we know she’s coming back. PAUL REYNOLDS, NATALEE HOLLOWAY’S UNCLE: We’re doing well. It’s an overwhelming outpouring of support and concern from the island, everyone in the states, the authorities. It’s an amazing series of events, and we’re just touched as to how Natalee has reached people’s lives. (END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Let’s go straight back down to Aruba. Standing by, one of the suspect’s mother is with us, Ann John. Miss John, why you to believe Police targeted your son? JOHN: I doesn’t know. Up until now, I doesn’t know why they target him. I don’t know, because I tried to find out from the Police. And they said to me it doesn’t know. So I don’t know why they target him.GRACE: Miss John, your son is one of the two security guards that were first arrested, not one of the three young men that were last seen with Natalee. It’s my understanding that there is some belief a racial bias is happening. Do you think that? JOHN: I do think so. GRACE: Explain. I think you can hear me. Ann John, why do you think there is racial bias happening? JOHN: Because for the first -- I understand that there was three guys, because I was watching on the TV and I understand there was three guys who they said went with the car with the girl. And I heard nothing else after that. But afterwards, through my listening to the news, I heard -- I was in my work. I was in my job. And when they call me and tell me that Police was at my house, and when I reach up, I thought it was something as maybe he cussed somebody or something. I didn’t think anything about that. But then I reach and I went to the Police station. I asked them, "What’s the matter?" And they tell me they don’t know. So up until now, I don’t know if it’s that (UNINTELLIGIBLE) because nobody told me. The Police never told me that they had my son for that, so I don’t know what they has him for up until now. And since then, I haven’t seen my son as yet. GRACE: Miss John, you haven’t gotten to even see your son? JOHN: No. When I came from my work, my job, I rushed to reach home. I went to the Police station. And I asked the Police, "I understand you all have my son here." And he said to me, "We don’t know." I said, "Sir, what my little son just told me that you all took my son." He said to me, "We don’t know." So, I went back to my house. And I called the Police station at (UNINTELLIGIBLE) and said to me, "You have to go back to (UNINTELLIGIBLE) because it’s in (UNINTELLIGIBLE) When I went back to the same Police, he was standing there. He said to me, "You come back here again? I tell you I don’t know where he is." So, I tell him, "That’s all right. And I walk out of the Police station." And then I went to look. Because they already had my car already. So, I got a lift, and I was on my way. And then I learned one of the Police said to me, "Maybe he is in one of the different stations." And then they gave my son a phone call and he called home, while I was on the road. And he called me and told me -- my son said that he’s not in a Police station. So when I reached...(CROSSTALK) GRACE: So still, as of now, you still have not seen him? JOHN: No. When I reach (UNINTELLIGIBLE) to the Police station, he said to me, the Police said to me he’s there, but I may not talk to him. (CROSSTALK) GRACE: OK, hold on just a moment. I hate to interrupt you, but I have got to take a quick break, everyone. We are live if Aruba trying to ferret through information. New arrests today in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, an American girl. Quickly, to "Trial Tracking," today, Jerry Hobbs pleads not guilty to the charge that he murdered his 8-year-old little girl, Laura, and her 9- year-old friend, Krystal Tobias. Police say Hobbs confessed on tape he killed the two girls. The little girls, best friends, went missing on Mother’s Day. Police found their bodies in a park in Zion, Illinois, both girls brutally stabbed to death. Hobbs has a long criminal record, just released from prison for aggravated assault. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek the death penalty.(COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) GEORGE "JUG" TWITTY, MISSING GIRL’S STEPFATHER: I hope, I pray to God that she walks through that door or that we find her somewhere. I don’t care if she’s, you know, in a crack house somewhere and she’s been drugged up for, you know, seven days or whatever. We can work with that. We can fix her. We can do whatever to get her back. That’s all we want. That’s all we’re asking. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: That’s the father of Natalee Holloway. Quickly, back down to Aruba. Before we go back to one of the suspect’s attorney, to Karl Penhaul, CNN correspondent. The three men that were arrested today, I take it, were already questioned and released by Police, right? PENHAUL: That’s correct. Police have told us that shortly after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, simply by virtue of the fact that these were the three young men last seen in her company, they were interviewed. When we got to the island, Police were also saying that they continue to crosscheck their stories and that they had looked at their car but certainly not confiscated it. But yes, certainly, they were known to Police, Nancy. GRACE: Now, are the three men currently detained as of today formally charged? PENHAUL: The Dutch system, which is the thing that’s been causing a little bit of problems to explain, is very different from the U.S. system. But at this stage, we best to say because they’re arrested, because they’re officially suspects, they are also formally accused. But it’s a little short of formally charged, Nancy. GRACE: I understand. I get it. With us in Aruba, Karl Penhaul, CNN correspondent. We’ll all be right back. Please stay with us.(COMMERCIAL BREAK) (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)GEORGE "JUG" TWITTY, MISSING GIRL’S STEPFATHER: Nobody understands, nobody would understand the highs and lows that we have been through, through the sightings and this and that. It just -- it’s really, really an emotional roller coaster. Beth, my wife, is -- she’s a very strong person. I think people have seen that in some of the interviews she’s done. She plays that strong role. But when we get back to the room, it is totally -- you know, it is different. She’s very emotional.(END VIDEO CLIP)GRACE: Welcome back. The search has turned desperate for Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old American girl that went missing on her senior trip in Aruba. Straight back down to Aruba. Before we take you to the Michael Jackson trial, I want to go back to defense attorney for Abraham Jones, one of the young men in custody, Chris LeJuez. Chris, Do you know wha4 evidence led Police to arrest your guy?LEJUEZ: Possibly, it would be the fact that these boys saw someone appear, like a security guard, and the fact that they have stated -- someone has stated that they saw two people walking on the area that night, and one of them appeared like to be my client.GRACE: Now, who are these witnesses, Chris?LEJUEZ: One of them is a kind of a person who is always on the beach, a beach bum, you could say, we call them here in Aruba. And the other one was a security guard of the "Holiday Inn" hotel.GRACE: OK. To Noraina Pietersz, who is the security guard’s attorney. Do you believe that there is some type of a class bias against your client?PIETERSZ: What -- can you repeat that question?GRACE: Sure. Noraina, do you believe there is some type of a bias, be it racial or class bias, against your client, why your guy was arrested?PIETERSZ: I don’t want to believe so. But as I said before, I thought the reason why they got to the security guard issue was because of the two now suspects, the two brothers. They said that when they dropped Natalee off by the "Holiday Inn," they saw a black security man with a black uniform walk towards her in the lobby or in that area of the lobby. That’s how they got to my client, probably.GRACE: Very quickly, Chris LeJuez, we heard the alibi for Mickey John. What is the alibi for your client, Abraham Jones?PIETERSZ: Well, he has an alibi, but the problem is, he has nobody to verify it because his mother was at home. She was sleeping. And like she said, he’s a grown-up man. She doesn’t really control and check on the time he gets home. So he doesn’t have somebody that can say, Oh, yes, he was home at such time. That’s the only thing. But the fact is that he was not at the "Holiday Inn." He was never seen at that time during the disappearance at the "Holiday Inn." He was not working. He didn’t have a uniform, so it could never be him, the man that these two now suspects are talking about.GRACE: Chris LeJuez, what’s your guy’s alibi?LEJUEZ: I beg your pardon?GRACE: What is your client’s alibi?LEJUEZ: My client’s alibi he is that went to a soul music festival at another beach far away from the "Holiday Inn" hotel. He was there with his wife, with his friend, and he saw many friends there. They were together when he went home, and they spent the night together at home. The next morning, he woke up and went to work at around 7:00 o’clock in the morning, a very believable and confirmed alibi.GRACE: I want to thank both lawyers with us tonight, the lawyers of the two security guard suspects first taken into custody in Aruba. Noraina Pietersz and Chris LeJuez, thank you. We will stay on the story.

On December 1, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC “Yes, there was a boat that Joran mentioned in one of his statements on June 9th. It's actually a friend of his. It's Koen's [last name we now know is “GOTTENBOS“] father has a boat. And from what I'd understood, that there was some activity with that boat during the early morning hours of May 30, when these boys took Natalee. To what extent, we don't know. Whether forensics were done, whether the boat was searched, there's been a lot of speculation, but I really don't have any concrete follow-up information of what they actually did to the Koen's father's boat.” “Well, those girls were coming forward, and they were meeting with attorneys and giving their statements to the authorities in front of their attorneys. It seemed as if once the suspects were released, I don't know if someone was able to get to these young girls and to have them retract these statements or if they became fearful of—you know, that they had given this information. I don't know, Rita, but it was very suspicious how the girls were coming forward and then all of a sudden had retracted their statements.”
On October 21, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC that ARUBAN authorities have received the SKEETERS videotapes of Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's documented statements/confessions. BETH stated that DUTCH judge RICK SMID “chose the suspects rights over the victims rights.” When asked if the SKEETERS video tapes will put the Murder Suspects back in jail?, BETH stated, "It has to. It has to. I think that Aruba knows the choice if it doesn’t.” “Everything keeps coming back to the water.”
BETH stated that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT “even mentioned in his first statement that Steve Croes is the witness to seeing him drop Natalee off at the "Holiday Inn" and the two security guards coming up to take her.” “I’m sure there is another motive behind Steve Croes. I’m sure that he had involvement.” (recall that very early on it was reported that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT phoned Current Murder Suspect "Steve" CROES in the early AM hours of 5-30 before Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT went to school on 5-30)
BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated "November first, I am returning.” When asked if she believes there may be an ARUBAN-DUTCH cover-up, BETH stated "I wont say ‘there may’,” but BETH did not, at this time, call for a boycott of ARUBA and HOLLAND.
On 10-19 FOX News reported that they have a source that claims that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed in a statement(s) of his to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators very shortly after his 6-9 arrest that on the night of 5-29/30 the parent of a friend of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was operating a boat out in the ocean. BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News that she is aware of this statement(s) by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT about someone he knows using a boat the evening of 5-29/30, but BETH has not been told if the ARUBAN Police Investigators have followed-up by investigating/questioning the parent who owns the boat.
On 6-9 the “AP” reported “According to Police statements, at least one of the three told authorities that as Holloway was getting out of their car at her hotel, she stumbled and one of the three helped her up. Walking to the hotel, she stumbled a second time, the statement said, and a "dark-colored" man wearing a black T-shirt and carrying a radio helped her. A hotel employee who has reviewed surveillance tapes from the morning of Holloway's disappearance said they don't show any sign of the teenager.” “[CHRIS] Lejuez said he knew of no connection between Jones and John and the three others arrested. Of the latter, he said, "The public has been screaming for their arrest for quite some time now.”
On 6-9 ODUBER met with BETH at a press op, then (after BETH left the room) ODUBER gave a speech centered completely around Aruba tourism. ODUBER claimed his government was working closely with U.S. authorities, which have sent F.B.I. agents and divers to help in the search. Holloway's disappearance had left Arubaans "in a state of shock and disbelief," he said. "The hearts of the people of Aruba are touched by Natalee and her family," he said. ODUBER pledged that Police would not exclude anyone from their investigation.
On 6-9 an ARUBAN authority stated during a press conference that Aruba is working across its borders (Internationally) with South America in the investigation.
On 6-9 JULIA RENFRO (the transplanted AMERICAN in ARUBA who moved to ARUBA 17+ years ago and owns an interest in many ARUBA businesses including an ARUBAAN's news-source) claimed to FOX News, “The Police told us that they have solid evidence against two of the men. The other three were considered as witnesses against those two men." Renfro has befriended Natalee Holloway's mother, and reported, "She's doing amazingly well - she's got a lot of hope and feels 100 percent sure that her daughter is alive and will be found, and that the Police are using tactics to get Natalee back.”
On July 15, 2005 TITO LACLE reported to FOX News that a colleague reporter had gone to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s school on 6-9 to ask about Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT. When TITO LACLE’s colleague asked about Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT to a person at the school he was told, “Oh, you mean that boy with the bruise.”
On July 14, 2005 ARUBA government spokesman TRAPENBERG claimed to FOX News that the Aruban Police is still searching, but has been reduced to “a small Police unit.” He also claims the Aruban authorities are still communicating with the family and claimed, “They are saying there is progress in the case.” Of the non-arrest and release of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE , and Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE from 5-31 to 6-9 (=10+ days), TRAPENBERG claimed on 7-14 that the Police “Let the boys go free for a few days.”
On 6-9 when ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN was asked why Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE , and Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE were allowed to go free 11 days after they were the last 3 persons seen with NATALEE, ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN claimed to CNN “It is because of tactical reasons we didn't do that at another moment.” ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN also stated "At this stage, we can't say what we are presuming at this moment. We have too little details to say. All options are open.” “Suspicion of a suspect has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It has to do with the results of the investigation, if there are grounds for suspicion.”
On 6-9 ALVIN CORNET, a cousin to either Murder Suspect JOHN or Murder Suspect JONES, told CNN “And it's on something about money-wise who is rich, and who is poor.”

On 6-9 “About Crime.com” reported:

Three More Arrested in Natalee Holloway CaseThree men who admitted they were with an Alabama teen on the night she disappeared in Aruba have now been arrested in connection with the case. The three were questioned early in the investigation then released by authorities.Aruba Attorney General Caren Janssen confirmed that the three men, described as students, have been arrested. Fox News reported that one of them is the son of a local judge. The three told police that they took Holloway from the nightclub where she was last seen by friends to a beach and then dropped her off around 2 a.m. at the hotel where she was staying.Security cameras at that hotel, however, did not show her being returned. When they tried to help her, she refused their assistance and was escorting into the hotel by a black man in a black T-shirt and black pants.Security Guards Also HeldMeanwhile, an Aruban judge ruled yesterday that police can continue to hold two former hotel security guards in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, but both men and their families deny that they ever saw the missing Alabama teen.Authorities had hoped that at least one of the men would have provided some information about the disappearance of Holloway, but Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, claim they never saw the teen on the night that she vanished hours before she and her classmates were scheduled to fly back to Alabama.Speculation was some of the specific areas searched for Holloway came as a result of information obtained from the two security guards, but after the court hearing, their attorneys revealed that both men are denying knowing anything about the teen, except what they read in the press.Under the laws in Aruba, the two men can be held for another eight days without being charged while police continue to gather evidence, but an attorney for one of the men told reporters that there has been no physical evidence linking them to Holloway. No Evidence, No Clues"Both of them are very concerned," Chris Lejuez, the defense attorney for one of the men, said. "They are nervous. They know they are being suspected of something very heavy, very serious, but they are confident, both of them. And they have shown that confidence to me, that they very categorically deny being involved in this case."Lejuez said that no witnesses have reported seeing the men with Holloway. "In my opinion, there is no evidence whatsoever that they are involved in the disappearance of Natalee," he said.Meanwhile, the common-law wife of one of the men said she and he were together continuously during the time Holloway disappeared. She told reporters that she and Jones went to a concert that night and returned home together. She said Jones was sick later that night, but showed up for work the next day at 7 a.m.

On 6-9 the “Hometown Channel.com” reported:

Aruba Prime Minister: Solving Missing Teen Case Is 'No. 1 Goal'
5 Men Now In Custody In Disappearance Of Natalee HollowayPOSTED: 6:42 am CDT June 9, 2005UPDATED: 5:24 pm CDT June 9, 2005ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- Aruba's prime minister says solving the Natalee Holloway case is the island's "No. 1 goal."
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber went on TV Thursday to express support for the family of the missing Alabama teenager and said his government is working closely with U.S. authorities in the investigation. There are five people now in custody linked to the disappearance of the 18-year-old woman, but prosecutors admit they still don't have a clear picture of what happened. Aruba's attorney general says "all options are open."Police said one of the three young men arrested Thursday had been with Holloway at her hotel's casino two nights before she disappeared. That 17-year-old boy and two others said Holloway was with them at a bar two nights later, and they dropped her off at her hotel.Police have impounded a gray Honda. They're trying to determine if there's a connection between the three young men and two security guards also in custody in the case.Holloway vanished May 30.Also Thursday, officials from Aruba's Office of the Attorney General defended the delay in arresting the three additional "persons of interest."The three men arrested by Aruban police early Thursday morning had been detained soon after Holloway's disappearance. Police officials questioned the trio, then released them back to their families.During Thursday's news conference, Caren Jassen, spokeswoman for the Aruba Attorney General's Office, told reporters the three men had not been arrested earlier because of "technical reasons." She also denied allegations the three had been given preferential treatment due to their families' position on the island.Jassen declined to elaborate on the evidence against any of the five men now being held in the case. But she did state that there are so far "no indications (Holloway) is not alive.'The three young men acknowledged partying with Holloway, 18, of Mountain Brook, Ala., before she went missing last week. According to law enforcement sources, they told police that a man dressed in a security uniform approached her as they dropped her off at her hotel at about 2 a.m.Two of the suspects, identified as Surinamese brothers Satish and Deepak Kaploe, told police Holloway had been drinking and fell down as she got of the car in front of the hotel. The source said when the third suspect, Dutch citizen Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot, tried to help her, she refused, saying, "I can stand on my own."The Surinamese brothers told police, a black man dressed in a black security uniform and carrying a walkie-talkie went up to Holloway, seemingly to offer his assistance. The suspects then drove off and say they did not see Holloway again.Murder Suspect's Common-Law Wife Suggests AlibiThe common-law wife of one of two men first arrested in Holloway’s disappearance is offering an alibi for her child's father.Abraham Jones is under investigation for possible murder and kidnapping charges in the disappearance of Holloway. But the woman he lives with said he was home sick on May 29 and 30 when Holloway was last seen.Cynthia De Graaf said she was with Jones continuously on both days.A lawyer representing Jones and Nick John, who is also held under suspicion, says he has yet to see any evidence that Holloway is not alive. He also said there's no evidence the two men were involved in her disappearance. The two men worked as security guards at a hotel near where Holloway was staying.A judge Wednesday ruled there's sufficient reason to hold the two men on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.Family Does Not Blame ChaperonesHolloway's aunt said family members don't blame trip chaperones for the girl's disappearance.Natalee Holloway joined more than 100 classmates and seven adult chaperones on a five-day excursion to the island. Holloway never showed up for the group's return flight. Her aunt, Marcia Twitty, said the adult chaperones were "incredible, wonderful people." She said, "These were people who knew our kids day in and day out."Twitty met with reporters Wednesday outside Mountain Brook Community Church. Classmates have been gathering there for daily prayer sessions.A large display was erected Wednesday morning in front of one entrance to the church showing a picture of Holloway and the words "hope" and "prayer."Trip Organizer: 'Chaperones Should Not Be Blamed For Disappearance'Jodi Bearman, who organized the trip for 136 Mountain Brook, Ala., high school graduates, spoke out in defense of the seven chaperones that went with the graduates on the trip to Aruba. She said that they should not be blamed for Holloway’s disappearance."They (the students) sign a waiver, and it basically makes sure it's clear to them that they are responsible for themselves. Chaperones assist in emergencies, but by no means are liable if an accident should happen or anything like that," Bearman said.According to Bearman, the students are expected to act as adults and the chaperones are not required to baby-sit the students.“The chaperones intentionally go out at night, and try to go to the places and check on the kids, but by no means are there specific instructions to do so,” said Bearman.Bearman said that going on this trip is an individual choice made by the students who want to celebrate graduating high school and that it is not a school-sponsored event. She also said this is the third year for this trip and that the last two years were a success.Although the students are expected to be responsible for themselves, Bearman said she knew that this being their first venture out after high school, chaperones would be needed to supervise. However, she said they fulfilled their duties and that if anyone had seen Holloway get into a car, then the chaperone would have said something."Everyone was getting cabs and leaving, and it's actually a busy club. When you're looking to get your cab, you may or may not notice where the next person went," Bearman said. “I can assure you, if a chaperone saw her getting into a car, there is no way she would have gotten into the car."Chaperones of the trip to Aruba spoke with Holloway’s parents Monday night via a conference call. Bearman said the reason for the call was to make it clear to the chaperones that the family did not hold them responsible for Holloway’s disappearance.

Murder Suspect met Holloway earlier, police sayORANJESTAD, Aruba — Aruban police say at least one of three suspects arrested today knew Natalee Holloway before the day she disappeared. Police detained brothers Depak Kalpue and Satish Kalpue and 17-year-old Joren van der Sloot after an early morning raid, according to government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg. Authorities said they are suspected in connection with the May 30 disappearance of the Mountain Brook teen. Two former security guards are also being held on suspicion of murder, homicide and kidnapping, among other crimes. Deputy Police Chief Jan van der Straten said police are investigating any possible connection between the five suspects, but would not comment on details. Holloway, who was in Aruba on a senior trip with more than 100 other Mountain Brook High School graduates, met van der Sloot at the casino in the hotel where she was staying, van der Straten said. Casino employees say the two brothers were regulars at the poker table and that many of the Mountain Brook High School graduates spent time at the casino during their five-day trip. The prime minister of Aruba is scheduled to give a news conference to discuss Holloway’s disappearance at 3 p.m. Hannah Wolfson

On 6-10 or 6-11 the now called “Aru-Bay video” is filmed (by whom??, exactly when??).
The video may show the ARUBAN Police personnel recovering a dead body among some rock outcroppings within the sand dunes close to the “California“ lighthouse--the same lighthouse where the 3 Main Murder Suspects initially said they took NATALEE.
Later rumors claim the body that was recovered was of a 7-year-old illegal COLUMBIAN immigrant.
Additional rumors claim that this same-located body was originally found (by whom??, exactly when??) a year or so earlier.

On 6-10 CNN reported:

VALERIE MORRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Coming up in the next hour of DAYBREAK, is the case of missing teenager Natalee Holloway hurting tourism in Aruba? We're going to ask the country's Minister of Tourism if they can keep attracting tourists.

MORRIS: And what could a judge's son have to do with the disappearance of that young American woman in Aruba?

On 6-10 CNN reported:

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: … Day 12 in the search for Natalee Holloway. Authorities in Aruba grasp for new leads and now police in South America are getting involved.

Now back to the search for clues in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Now spreading beyond Aruba into South America. Two of the latest suspects are from a country there. The other is the son of a judge back in Aruba. We're also learning more details about what Natalee Holloway did with these three men the night she left that club. And so far no one has been charged with a crime. Attorney Chris Lejuez represents Abraham Jones, one of the first to be arrested. He's our guest back again in Palm Beach, Aruba. Sir, thanks for your time and for coming back and talking with us. I know you've seen the statements of the three men who were arrested recently, but only two of the three statements were released. What explains why that's the case? CHRIS LEJUEZ, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I have no explanation for that, sir. I could speculate, but I'd rather not do that. HEMMER: Well, in the statements that were released, then, what have you learned? LEJUEZ: That the three had been with Natalee that night. They were at the nightclub, where they saw her. And she left with them in the car. They went to a beach by the lighthouse here in Aruba. After that, they brought her to the hotel and they left her there. HEMMER: And what happened after they left this club? It's my understanding that in this affidavit or in this statement that there was some sort of sexual contact. How much was that involved in this event from 10, 11 nights ago? LEJUEZ: Yes, there was. There was kissing and there was fondling and there was sexual contact between her and one of the accused. This, the accused is the one that has, of whom I don't have the statement. The other two both testified to the police that there had been kissing and sexual contact with her. HEMMER: So then the time they left the club and the time they say they dropped her off at the hotel, how much time elapsed there? LEJUEZ: Approximately half an hour. They dropped her off at the hotel at approximately 2:00 in the morning. HEMMER: And so when they say they dropped her off, they also noted a black man with a black t-shirt with a witch who then approached her and appeared to be some sort of security guard inside the hotel. Is that your understanding? LEJUEZ: They said he appeared to be a security guard, but the security guards at that hotel don't wear black t-shirts. They don't wear black trousers. They wear green trousers with like a khaki colored shirt, no t-shirt. HEMMER: So what would explain this description, then? LEJUEZ: I don't know. Perhaps it could have been another man. Perhaps it could have been a security guard from some other place being there. Perhaps he does not exist. I have no idea, sir. HEMMER: Are there cameras, surveillance cameras, at this hotel? LEJUEZ: Apparently there are, because I read somewhere that they looked at the videos and they could not find anything of Natalee on the videos. And there was another statement and I found that very curious, too. The security guard on duty from 12:00 at night until 8:00 in the morning reported to the police that he saw nothing strange, nothing suspicious. And I would imagine that if a girl 18 years old, who was drunk at the time, so drunk she fell to the floor, together with a black man fully dressed in black, were at the hotel at that hour, the security guard might have remembered that. HEMMER: Well, here is the problem, then. If these three men say they dropped her off at the hotel around 2:00 in the morning and there's no videotape of it at the hotel, then what explains their story? LEJUEZ: I can't explain that, sir. HEMMER: When will you be back in court with your own client? LEJUEZ: Before the eight days are gone, somewhere before, if necessary, unless they release him. They can release him any time within these eight days. HEMMER: Is this the main story that everybody is focused on in Aruba? LEJUEZ: Yes. This is the only story that everyone is focusing on right now in Aruba, sir. And Aruba is a very quiet island. It's a very peaceful island. We have a very low crime rate, the lowest in the Caribbean area. And this is something so shocking that nobody is talking about anything else. HEMMER: Attorney Chris Lejuez represents Abraham Jones from Aruba. Again, sir, thank you for your time today.

HEMMER: Also, interesting questions today back in Aruba. How can police arrest five suspects in this case without formally charging them? A look at the justice system based on Dutch law in Aruba, a bit later this hour. Back in a moment on AMERICAN MORNING. (COMMERCIAL BREAK)

"Resolving this is Aruba's No. 1 goal."Those detained Thursday were two brothers from Suriname and a Dutch student who is the son of a high-ranking Dutch justice official. The prime minister, who said he had met with Holloway's relatives, pledged that police would not exclude anyone from their investigation."On this island nobody stands above the law," he said, stressing that "hope is still alive" that Holloway will be found unharmed.Attorney general spokeswoman Vivian Van Der Biezan told a news conference the three detainees were ages 17, 18 and 21.The 17-year-old met Holloway at a casino in her hotel, the Holiday Inn, two nights before she disappeared on May 30, Aruban police Cmdr. Jahn van der Straaten told reporters. In Mountain Brook, Ala., Holloway's hometown, teens who went to Aruba with her on a graduation trip were quoted as saying the Dutch man was at several places the group visited, including the restaurant-bar where the honors student was last seen.Marcia Twitty, Holloway's aunt, said the Alabama students recognized the Dutch detainee from photos shown them by FBI agents. "They had seen him around during the trip. He was just a local guy in the bar and the casino where all the kids were just kind of hanging out," she said.Attorney General Caren Janssen said the three men were arrested about 6 a.m. but refused to name them or say on what grounds they were being held. Authorities previously described them as students.Police identified the Surinamese brothers only as Satish and Deepak K. The Dutch detainee, an honors student at Aruba International School, left his home in the middle-class neighborhood of Oranjestad on Thursday with his head covered in a blue-and-green striped towel. The three had been detained last week but were released after questioning. Authorities had described them as witnesses "or persons of interest."Under the Dutch judicial system, which Aruba follows as a protectorate of the Netherlands, people can be arrested on suspicion of a crime but held for up to 116 days without being formally charged. The men were not expected to be officially identified until they are charged.Holloway disappeared hours before she was to take a flight home. Police found her passport and packed bags in her hotel room. Extensive land and water searches have failed to turn up any trace of her.Officials were investigating whether the three new detainees had any connection to two former hotel security guards who have been held in the case since Sunday, Janssen said. The two ex-guards, Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, will remain jailed, at least until a court hearing next week, Janssen said. Neither man has been formally charged. The Dutch detainee is white, while the two Surinamese men are of Indian origin. The two former security guards are black.Janssen said the investigation "has nothing to do with color of skin" and social class.Holloway vanished while on a five-day trip with 124 classmates and seven chaperones celebrating their high school graduation. Authorities have not said Holloway was a victim of foul play and have not ruled out any possibilities, including that she may have drowned.Associated Press writer Jay Reeves contributed to this story from Mountain Brook, Alabama.

After we were heard as witnesses, Joran's father said that there would be chance that we were going to be arrested and that we had to prepare for that eventuality. To you question as to how we prepared ourselves, I can state the following. With preparing I just meant looking for an attorney. To your question whether I had spoken to my attorney prior to my arrest, I can state the following. Both families had a meeting with the attorneys. So my parents with me and my brother and Joran with his parents. To your question as to when that had taken place, I can state the following. That took place last Saturday. To your question as to where it took place, I can state the following. It took place in the offices of my attorney. To your question whether both families went to one office or to several offices, I can state the following. We all went to the same office at the same time. Our attorney asked us if the statement we had made as witnesses was the truth and said that we should stick to that story. To your question whether I had ever been in an accident with my car, I can state the following. I had an accident once. I was a rear end collision. I had suffered no injury. The accident happened approximately one month ago.(Comment reporting officer: the suspect was given a moment to think after I, BURKE, had had a conversation with the suspect "off the record" regarding his age and that he should think of his family and also about his future. After a few minutes the interview was continued. The suspect was asked if he had thought about it, to this he answered that he had been thinking and that he wanted to talk to his attorney first and after that make a more detailed statement. The suspect was prepared to continue with this interview/interrogation. The suspect was also asked to take of his shirt to ascertain that there were no wounds visible on him. None could be seen). To your question whether me and my brother wash my car together, I can state the following. We did this on a number of occasions. To you question as to when this happened for the last time, I can state the following. It was a long time ago, I think in February. Because it got busier and busier for me, he did it numerous times on his own.To your question what I think of this situation/case, I can state the following. I feel tired and sad. To your question why I feel sad and tired, I can state the following. I feel that because of me my whole family is suffering. To your question what I mean with suffering, I can state the following. Because I wasn't supposed to go out if I had to go to work on a Monday. If I hadn't gone out, I would not be here. Joran would also not be here because he wouldn't have had a ride.To your question whether I know why I have been arrested, I can state the following. I am here because you think that we did it. To your question as to what I mean with "because you think we did it", I can say the following. With this I mean, that she is missing or was kidnapped. To your question as to what I personally think, I can state the following. I personally do not think she is dead. I think she must be at someones house. To your question as to how I come to that opinion, I can state the following. They haven't found her body, so she isn't dead. To your question whether I think that if there is no body there is also no case, I can state the following. To your question as to how it is possible, that after having been confronted with a security guard that was most likely the one who was at the "Holiday Inn Hotel" in the night it happened, the one about whom I had stated that I could recognise him if I saw him again, I can state the following. The man from today was not the security guard I had seen. The hair of the security guard I saw was different and he had a different body height. To your question as to how it is possible that there are contradictions in the statements given by me, Satish and Joran, regarding where exactly we stopped in front of the lobby of the hotel, I can state the following. I don't know, I have stated the place where I know I brought the car to a full stop.(Comment reporting officer: the suspect was informed to take a minute to really think, he requested 2 minutes to have a conversation with his attorney, after which he would make a detailed statement. His request was granted.(comment reporting officer: after the suspect spoke with his attorney, he stated that he would make a detailed statement tomorrow and that he would read through this statement but that he would not sign it.)Of this we, ERASMUS and BURKE on our oath as officers have made this proces-verbaal closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 10th 2005.The reporting officers, J.M.ERASMUS CA. Murder Suspect was in pushing match
Man had scuffle with some of Holloway's friendsJune 10, 2005By DANIEL JACKSONBIRMINGHAM POST-HERALD One of the three young men arrested Thursday in the disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway got into a pushing match with some of her friends in an Aruban bar, one of Holloway's friends said Thursday.Bryan Reynolds, 18, one of 124 recent high school graduates who went to Aruba in late May, said some of his friends almost got into a fight with Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot and his friends. The scuffle started after van der Sloot, a Dutch suspect arrested at his upper-class home in Oranjestad, Aruba, Thursday morning, had been talking to 18-year-old Holloway at a bar where she and classmates hung out during the five-day trip, Reynolds said. "There was almost a fight between my friend and him," said Reynolds, who was sitting in his car in the parking lot of Mountain Brook Community Church on Thursday after attending a noon prayer service with his classmates and others. "I had to break them up. That's when I got a good look at them." van der Sloot, the son of a Dutch justice official studying at the Aruba International School, and two Surinamese brothers identified by police as Satish and Deepak Kaploe, were arrested Thursday morning, more than a week after Holloway disappeared. The last known people to have seen Holloway, the suspects told police they gave her a ride to her hotel in the early morning hours of May 30, the night she vanished, and never saw her again. Reynolds said he saw the suspects hanging out at the Holiday Inn where the Mountain Brook High School graduates stayed in Oranjestad. When Holloway went missing, Reynolds said they were the first people he considered as potential suspects. "That was the first people who came to mind," said Reynolds, who said Holloway is one of his best friends. Last week, authorities also arrested Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, two security guards who both insist they never saw Holloway. Chris Lejuez, an attorney representing Jones and John, said his clients are being investigated on suspicion of murder and kidnapping, but authorities have not released evidence that Holloway was the victim of foul play. Nor have they ruled out other possibilities, like accidental drowning. None of the suspects has been charged. Holloway's relatives, who still hope they will find her alive, believe the investigation accelerated in the right direction Thursday when authorities arrested the three suspects, Holloway's aunt Marcia Twitty said during a news conference in front of the Mountain Brook church Thursday. "We wanted to see this happen," Twitty said. "These are the last three people seen with her. You'd think they have to know something." Authorities previously questioned van der Sloot and the Kaploe brothers about Holloway's disappearance, but at that time, the attorney general's office said they were considered witnesses, not suspects. The Associated Press reported Thursday that the three young men told police a man dressed in a security guard uniform approached Holloway when they dropped her off in front of the Holiday Inn. The Kaploe brothers told police Holloway had been drinking, and she fell down when she got out of the car, but refused help from van der Sloot, saying, "I can stand on my own," The AP reported. A man dressed in a black security uniform and carrying a walkie-talkie approached Holloway, seemingly in an effort to help her, the suspects told police. The suspects said they drove off and never saw her again, The AP reported. But Holiday Inn employees said the hotel's security cameras did not record her return. Police also impounded a gray Honda car Thursday. Holloway's friends reported seeing her leave a nightclub in a silver car the night she disappeared. That night, Holloway ate and danced at Carlos 'n Charlie's bar and restaurant. Police found her passport with her packed luggage in her hotel room after she missed her return flight the next morning. Under Aruban law, serious suspicion from investigators is all that is needed for a judge to rule the suspects can be detained by police. The Aruba government, local tourism organizations, her family and supporters in Alabama and at Carlos 'n Charlie's are offering a $55,000 reward for information leading to Holloway's rescue. An intensive search for Holloway is ongoing in Aruba, Twitty said. In Birmingham, people continue to offer support to her family and friends. Clarissa Winchester of Gardendale signed the memorial wall for Holloway at the church Thursday. She drove her two daughters through lunch hour traffic to try to make the prayer service. Her 4-year-old daughter, Caroline Grace Winchester, had been asking about Holloway, she said. "More and more people in the community feel the burden as days go by," said Clarissa Winchester, 28. "She's one of ours. We make more of a connection with her the longer we see her face. ... We love her, and we want her to get home." She did not make it in time for the service, but did write a Bible verse, Genesis 31:49, in big red capital letters on the board. The verse says: "May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent from one another." Underneath, scrawled in by a black marker, was a heart and a message that Clarrisa Winchester wrote from Caroline: "Love Caroline, 4 years old. We all miss you!" Post-Herald reporter Andrew Nelson and The Associated Press contributed to this story.

On 6-10 the BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA “Birmingham Post Herald” reported:

Recent Mountain Brook graduates are tight-lipped about Aruba trip June 10, 2005By ANDREW NELSONBIRMINGHAM POST-HERALD Recent graduates who accompanied Natalee Holloway on last month's trip to Aruba were asked by her family not to talk to reporters, said one who attended the prayer service at Mountain Brook Community Church on Thursday. Asked why they weren't talking, Marcia Twitty of Mountain Brook, Holloway's stepaunt and a family spokeswoman, said the family didn't want to interfere in the investigation. "We have got to let the FBI and these officials do their job," she said. But she said authorities had not asked the family to be silent regarding the investigation. Most of those who attended the prayer service at the church, which is on the former campus of Southeastern Bible College, said they couldn't say anything, including — in almost every case — their names. Nor would they provide the identities of the chaperones who accompanied them on the trip when asked. One dark-haired teenager eating an apple as she walked away from the prayer service put an index finger over her lips in a "shush" motion when a reporter asked a group of women about what happened on the Caribbean island. Their refusals to talk were polite, but firm. "It's all in our best interest not to talk to the press right now," said one female attendee of the service. She wore big brown sunglasses and had a purse slung over a shoulder with a yellow ribbon affixed to the strap. She held the hand of another woman as a reporter walked beside her, asking questions. "But thank you, though." The young woman who said the family had asked them not to talk to the media was part of a group of three. After the conversation ended and the reporter turned away, another woman in the group called back: "Sorry, it's just kind of hard to talk." When asked if the family feared that negative publicity — like a story from The Associated Press on Thursday that reported Holloway had been drinking before her disappearance — might jeopardize the search for her, Twitty said Holloway's safe return is all that matters. "Alcohol never plays a good role in anything," she said during a news conference Thursday. "That whole thing is part of this puzzle we'll answer later. Right now, we need to find Natalee." Twitty, who said she had 23 years of experience in public relations and marketing, said after the prayer service that the story of what transpired on Aruba during the trip would come out eventually. After all this is over, she said, the students "can talk all they want." Post-Herald reporter Daniel Jackson contributed to this story.

At 2:05 PM EST on June 10, 2005 FOX News reported that ARUBAN Police commissioner GERALD DOMPIG and EDWARD CROES stated that one of the arrested suspects had confessed, and Police were being taken to a crime scene. DOMPIG also stated that one of the persons in custody had stated "that something bad happened to NATALEE.”
Shortly after that statement became public, a press conference was held in which one senior government official made no reference to the Assistant commissioner's statement, choosing rather, to say that the authorities were at a critical juncture in the investigations.
(the reports of a confession and Police being led to the body were retracted by ARUBAN officials the same day)
HERE is the video from FOX News confirming that NATALEE was dead, and ARUBAN Police were taking NATALEE‘s Loved Ones to the location of her remains.

On 6-10 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

I also informed him that this interview was being taped."Although I have been informed by you that I am not obliged to answer any questions, I am prepared to make a truthful statement. To your question since when the brothers Deepak and Satish are friends with me, I answer to you the following. About two or three months ago I got acquainted with Deepak and Satish KALPOE. Through a friend of mine named "Koen GOTTENBOS" I got acquainted with Deepak and Satish. I have known Koen for more than ten (10) years. Koen's nickname is "Cul". Another friend named "Jaime CARRASQUILLO" nicknamed "Betto" had given Koen that nickname. To your question as to where I met Deepak and Satish, my answer to you is that if I am not mistaken I met them their workplace. To your question whether I went out with Deepak and Satish, my answer to you is that I did not go out with them immediately when I met them. After that Deepak, Satish and myself went out once a week. We usually went to "Carlos & Charlies", "Tantra" and "Bahia". We usually went to these places to dance and to drink. Sometimes "Freddy" and "Koen" went with us to those nite-clubs. When we went out we drove in Deepak's car. Deepak and Satish were the ones that drove Deepak's car. Sometimes we also went with "Jaime CARRASQUILLO" nicknamed "Betto". Betto also drives a Honda. To your question as to what kind of car Deepak has, I answer you the following. Deepak has a silver, four door car of the make Honda Civic. The windows of the car are not tinted. Betto drives a green coloured four door car of the make Honda Civic. To your question as to how Deepak's car looked when Deepak, Satish and myself went out on May 29th 2005, I answer you that the car looked clean. Deepak's car is always clean. Deepak and Satish clean that car all the time. On the Friday night before they go out they clean the car. Deepak is the owner of the car. I have never helped to clean their car. Deepak and Satish drive with the car and they clean it themselves. To your question as to when Deepak bought his car and from whom he had bought it, I answer you that I do not know this. I haven't known Deepak and Satish long enough to know this.To your question as to whether Deepak's car isn't too cramped for me to sit in, I answer you that is it. If Deepak, Satish and myself go out I usually sit next to the driver on the front seat because my legs are long.To your question as to whether on May 30th in the nightly hours, I found it too cramped on the backseat to finger the missing girl "Natalee Ann HOLLOWAY", I answer you that Deepak and Satish put forward their seats because they are not tall. With the seats moved forward I get more room to sit properly. I myself am 1.96 meters tall.To your question how much alcoholic beverages I can drink before I get drunk, I answer you the following. I can handle my alcohol. Since my 15th year I have been drinking alcohol. I am a social drinker. I think that before I start feeling tipsy I have to drink a crate of beer. I cannot answer you how many rum and whisky's I have to drink before I get drunk. If I drink normal glasses of alcoholic beverages I would have to drink twenty (20) to thirty (30) glasses before I get drunk. If I get drunk I feel tired and want to sleep. I do not get irritated when I get drunk. To your question as to how much alcoholic drinks Deepak and Satish must drink before they get drunk, I answer you the following. I have seen that after drinking five (5) glasses of whisky coke Deepak and Satish got tipsy. After ten (10) glasses of whisky coke they are pretty much drunk. I have seen Deepak drunk twice (2). Both times this was at "Carlos & Charlies". If Deepak gets drunk he becomes aggressive and irritated. Sometimes Deepak wants to go home and sometimes he wants to fight. Deepak once in front of "Carlos & Charlies". I am sure that this was the only time he wanted to fight with others. Deepak cannot fight. He gets aggressive but he cannot fight. When Deepak in front of Carlos & Charlies wanted to fight with the man in front of Carlos & Charlies wanted to fight. If Deepak drinks he gets quickly irritated. To your question whether I saw Deepak fight, I answer you the following. I have seen him box at home in my place. I have two pairs of boxing gloves at home and I have seen Deepak box with Satish and Koen. Deepak is to weak to box. Satish wins at boxing with Deepak and Koen beats both Deepak and Satish at boxing. I box with Betto and with Koen. Usually we are equally matched between the three of us. Sometimes I let/allow my girlfriend "Flor" and her sister Amanda Metz to box. An Aruban girl named "Jilaila" lives with Flor and Amanda and she watched some of those fights. To your question whether I have a friend who has a boat, I answer you that the father of Koen has a boat. The father of Koen has a speedboat. I do not know the name of this boat but it is at Koen's house. I have never gone out on the speedboat owned by Koen's father. I get seasick and that is why I don't often go on boats. Koen has no boat-permit/license but I assume he is able to drive the boat.To your question as to how many girlfriends I have, I answer you the following. I only have one girlfriend and her name is "Florencia METZ". Before I had "Elaine" and before that "Carmen JACAPOUCHI" And she works in the Hospital and at the moment if Freddy's girlfriend. I have been having girlfriends since I was 14 and her name was "Jillian JOHNSON" and she now lives in the States. Her father had built the "Marriot Hotel" and she and I were both enrolled at the "International school". I also had a girlfriend named "Melody GRANADILLO". I have had five (5) serious girlfriends in total since I was 14.To you question whether Deepak and Satish have girlfriends, I answer you that they haven't got girlfriends. Satish told me that he had a girlfriend in Surinam. I have thought about them not having girlfriends but not everybody has a need to have a girlfriend. To your question has to how many years Deepak and Satish have been living on Aruba, I answer you that Deepak has been living on Aruba for five (5) years and Satish three (3) years. To you question as to why Deepak and Satish don't pick up girls with their nice car, I answer you that I do not know why. You have to ask them. I have never seen Deepak or Satish in the company of a girl. I have never seen Deepak dance but I once saw Satish dance with "Carmen JACCOPUCHI".To you question as to whether I am under treatment from a doctor, I answer you that I am not. I am being treated by a dentist because I have toothache. I am also under treatment of a psychologist. This because I felt bad about the fact that the girl had gone missing. Before the girl went missing I was also under treatment of a psychologist. This was because I had taken 50 euro's from my dad and also took money from my mother and I used my brothers mobile phone without asking for permission and after that I had broken the chip from his mobile phone. I also once fought with my brother in Miami but we are good friends now. My brother is fifteen (15) years old and his name is "Valentijn". He is the one I would like to talk to.To your question as how I get along/the contact is with my brothers and parents, I answer you that I have a good contact with them. Usually I discuss the time I have to get home with my mother because she is the one who decides this and I always want to come home later than she says.To your question whether I had contacts the day before I got arrested by the Police, I answer you that I did. A day before Deepak, Satish and myself were arrested by you they both were at my house. We had been on internet and we went on the website http://www.rhealworld.com/ on which my picture stood. We closed down my e-mail address REMOVED@hotmail.com and closed down a tickle account. My tickle is http://www.tickle.com/. My username on the tickle account also was loverboy362. This is an account where you can leave pictures and you can meet with other people. I then opened another e-mail account and sent an e-mail to rhealworld with the request to respect my privacy and remove my picture from their website. The man e-mailed me back and wrote that he would respect my privacy and would remove my picture. My new e-mail address is REMOVED@hotmail.com. My e-mail adress that I use to talk to my friends is REMOVED@hotmail.comI you have further questions, I am willing to answer them. This is my statement that I made truthfully.J.A.P. van der SLOOTAfter the suspect J.A.P. van der SLOOT had read his statement, he said that he would persist in his statement and signed it.Of this, we the reporting officers, on our oath as officers have made this proces-verbaal, closed and signed in Oranjestad on June 10th 2005.The reporting officersD.D. He said that this 6-10 declaration-confession was not signed by Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , but it is signed by the 4 ARUBAN Police detectives who witnessed Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT admitting to killing and burying NATALEE. The Diario has been reporting on this document for some time but have been accused by competing local media and Murder Suspects defense lawyers of making it up. The item was published verbatim today. Here is the translation of the declaration-confession from Dutch:

The suspect J.A.P. (Joran) van der Sloot walked with us (the Police) a little bit further on and he declared to have suspicions that the suspect D. Kalpoe did bury the girl there somewhere.
According to the suspect J.A.P. van der Sloot , the suspect D. Kalpoe had returned to the girl after having left her sleeping on the beach. To our question to the suspect J.A.P. van der Sloot what he thought had happened between the girl Natalee Holloway and the suspect D. Kalpoe, he declared that he thought that the suspect D. Kalpoe raped and killed the girl.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Finding 18-year-old Natalee Holloway (search) is "priority No. 1" for Aruba and no one will be above the law in the investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the American's disappearance, the Dutch Caribbean island's prime minister told FOX News on Friday.
Prime Minister Nelson Orlando Oduber (search) called a meeting Friday morning with Aruba's chief of Police and other officials to determine if more assistance is needed in the search, which has so far turned up no evidence of Holloway's whereabouts.
"It is our responsibility, legal and moral, for the good of our relationship" to investigate and prosecute the case to the fullest, Oduber told FOX News on Friday, noting that Aruba has relied on tourist business for 50 years. "We work together, we care for people ... Nobody stands above the law."
Holloway's disappearance had left Arubaans "in a state of shock and disbelief," he said.
"The hearts of the people of Aruba are touched by Natalee and her family," he said.
Meanwhile, one of the attorneys for the five men arrested in the case so far said Friday that Holloway went to an Aruban beach with the Dutch teenager in custody the night she disappeared and had sexual contact with him in the car.
Holloway drove with him and two Surinamese brothers to Arashi beach, on the northern part of the island, Noraina Pietersz, a court-appointed lawyer representing one of two former security guards arrested in the case, told The Associated Press.
Pietersz read from testimony given to Police by the two brothers last week.
The Dutch suspect is Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot, a 17-year-old student at Aruba International School. The Surinamese brothers are Satish Kalpoe, 18, and 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe. They are the sons of a local Aruban businessman.
"We are very excited about the progression of the investigation. We feel the three boys last seen with Natalee have some clue" about her disappearance, Linda Allison, an aunt of Holloway's, told FOX News Friday.
After Holloway and the three men went to the beach, they drove her back to her hotel, where she stumbled and was approached by a man wearing a security guard uniform, another defense attorney, David Kock, told the AP.
Kock said his client, Satish Kalpoe, and his brother told Police they saw a black security guard approach Holloway in the parking lot in front of the hotel lobby before they drove off.
"That's why [two former security guards] were detained," Kock told the AP.
Murder Suspects say Holloway was drunk
Holloway was on a five-day graduation vacation on the island with 124 classmates and seven chaperones when she disappeared May 30 without a trace.
The search for Holloway began after she failed to show up for her flight home the next morning. Police found her passport in her hotel room with her packed bags.
The Alabama teen is described as a straight-A student who had a full scholarship to a premedical program at the University of Alabama.
She was last seen by her friends at a local bar about 1:30 a.m. that morning, getting into a car with the three islanders she'd befriended.
The three men told Police they dropped off Holloway at her hotel around 2 a.m. May 30. Holiday Inn employees, however, say security cameras did not record her return.
Police impounded a silver Honda Civic sedan. Holloway's friends reported seeing her leave the bar in a silver or gray car the night she disappeared.
The trio were questioned and released last week but were arrested again on Thursday. Two other, older men were arrested earlier.
van der Sloot's father is a prominent official in the Aruban justice system. The younger van der Sloot met her at a hotel casino two days before she was last seen, Aruban Police Commander Jahn van der Straten told reporters.
Allison, Holloway's aunt, told FOX on Friday that she'd heard that van der Sloot was "someone the entire group of friends befriended."
She said she hasn't spoken to any of her niece's classmates on the trip and doesn't know of any romantic ties between Holloway and van der Sloot.
In Holloway's hometown of Mountain Brook, Ala., classmates who went to Aruba with her said the Dutch teen was at several places the group visited, including the restaurant-bar where she was last seen.
Marcia Twitty, Holloway's aunt, said the Alabama students recognized the Dutch detainee from photos shown them by FBI agents.
"They had seen him around during the trip. He was just a local guy in the bar and the casino where all the kids were just kind of hanging out," she said.
Holloway's stepfather, George "Jug" Twitty, told the AP that Holloway met the Dutch student in the casino of her hotel and flirted with him two days before she disappeared.
Twitty told the AP he met with the Dutch teen and Surinamese brothers early Tuesday in a conference arranged by Police, and they told him they were with his stepdaughter at Carlos 'N Charlie's nightclub restaurant the night of Sunday May 29, shortly before she disappeared.
The men said Holloway had been dancing and flirting with the Dutch teen before they dropped her at the hotel, Twitty said.
She was drunk and stumbled when she tried to get out of the car, the trio told him. When the Dutch teen tried to help her she refused, saying, "I can stand on my own," the men told Twitty.
They say she then headed towards the lobby, and a black man in black pants and a black T-shirt approached her with a walkie-talkie, Chris Lejuez, a court-appointed defense attorney for one of the two men previously arrested in the case, told FOX News on Friday.
"My client [Abraham Jones] only has a walkie-talkie when he's working, and he wasn't working that night," Lejuez said. "He does not own one himself."
The tape from the Holiday Inn lobby camera was reportedly checked by Police but no images of Holloway were found.
Lejuez said the security guard on duty from midnight on told authorities he never saw the teenager enter the hotel that night.
Oduber said van der Sloot's father's prominence will make no difference if he's found guilty of anything to do with Holloway's disappearance and that Aruba's relationship with the United States is too good to be maligned by any misstep in the investigation.
Five in custody
Aruba Attorney General Caren Janssen (search) said authorities were investigating whether the three young men arrested Thursday were connected to the two others already being detained in the case. She wouldn't comment on what grounds thee three were being held.
"It is likely it may have been a Police strategy to let these three men go to gather more information," Ruben Trapenberg, spokesman for the Aruba government, told FOX News. "The three witnesses gave information about the two guys [already in custody] and that is why they were held.
"If one of those two has an alibi, then the story [given by the three witnesses] doesn't fit and therefore the two may then be released depending on the proof."
The two former hotel security guards detained Sunday in connection with Holloway's disappearance have been identified as Abraham Jones, 28, and Mickey John, 30, who has also been named as Nick John in some reports.
An Aruban judge ordered Wednesday that authorities had enough evidence to hold the two on suspicion of first- and second-degree murder and capital kidnapping, the latter of which is invoked when a kidnapping victim is killed, their lawyers said. Neither has been charged with a crime.
According to Aruba law, only strong suspicion — not evidence — is necessary to continue holding a suspect. Authorities may keep John and Jones in custody without filing formal charges for up to 116 days, lawyers said, though they could be released next week.
Judge J.S. Kuiperdal will review the case June 15 and every eight days after that if needed, officials said. Prosecutors asked that the defendants be kept in jail at least until June 15, when they hope to conclude their investigation.
Investigators must come up with some evidence to hold the suspects beyond that date.
Jones and John are Aruban citizens, though one of the men is originally from Grenada. Family members insist they are innocent.
'Searching every day'
Oduber said he's been in touch with U.S. officials such as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Alabama Gov. Bob Riley and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.
"We will not stop until we have answers. We are shocked and completely distraught," Oduber said Thursday.
Also Thursday he met with Holloway's family, who is in Aruba searching for the Alabama teenager.
Oduber said he conveyed to them "that we will do our utmost to try to find her and solve this case."
"My family and all Arubaans are with the family," he added.
Local Police and the FBI said a lack of any solid leads was hindering progress in their search for Holloway. Aruban officials have asked the FBI to bring in dogs trained to search.
Police and volunteer land searches continued with no results, while water searches, also unsuccessful, had been suspended. Family members said there were also searches under way on other neighboring islands.
Five FBI agents remain in Aruba observing the investigation, said Judy Orihuela, FBI spokeswoman in Miami. Two FBI divers traveled to Aruba over the weekend and returned to the United States early this week.
"They were asked to do some site survey," Orihuela said. "They never got in the water."
Authorities have not said Holloway was a victim of foul play and have not ruled out any possibilities, including the chance she may have drowned.
"There is no physical evidence whatsoever and there are no statements given by any person that would indicate Natalee Holloway is not alive," Lejuez told FOX News.
David Holloway, the missing teen's father, said Oduber's "concern is to find Natalee" and that "he asked us heart to heart what he could do to help us."
Relatives of the high school graduate from Mountain Brook, Ala., have said they don't think Holloway is dead.
"We think she's alive," said Holloway's stepmother, Robin Holloway. She said authorities told the family they had expanded the search to other nearby islands.
Carlos 'N Charlie's bar and restaurant has donated $5,000 of a reward for information on Natalee Holloway.
The Aruba government and local tourism organizations have offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to her rescue. Family and benefactors in Alabama have offered $30,000.

LAW CENTER
Expert: Aruba law 'decidedly different' from U.S.
(CNN) -- Aruba authorities have arrested five suspects in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. None of the suspects has been charged with a crime so far.
Aruba is a Dutch protectorate, and its judicial system is pegged to the Dutch system, in which people are arrested on suspicion of a crime, but not formally charged until later.
CNN anchor Bill Hemmer spoke Friday with international law expert Theodore Simon about the differences between U.S. and Dutch law.
HEMMER: Number one, the first point, these five can be held by officials in Aruba without any formal charges.
SIMON: That's correct.
HEMMER: Which is different from this country. How does that work, Ted?
SIMON: Yes, decidedly different from this country. In our country and under our Constitution, a person cannot be arrested unless there's probable cause. And probable cause has been defined as facts and circumstances based on reasonably trustworthy information that would warrant a prudent person into believing a crime was committed and the person to be arrested committed it.
In Aruba, it's completely different. All you need is some indication that the person may have been involved, and then you can be arrested and held for a substantial period of time.
HEMMER: And you could be held for, what, 116 days without formal charges?
SIMON: Well, it's even more than that. Initially, the Police can hold someone for two days. They're not required to bring them before a magistrate until 72 hours. And the initial two can be extended for eight days and then two more periods of eight days. So that's about 26 days. And then another four months. So you're up to 146 days.
HEMMER: So if we jump ahead in this case -- if there's a trial -- let's hope there's not, let's hope this young woman is found and located and she's doing OK. If not a jury trial, who handles it?
SIMON: That's true. And you hit the nail right on the head. There's a question here, is there a crime? All we know is this woman is missing, sadly, terribly, that she's missing. But there's a real question whether or not there's a crime. As to your other question, true, there is no jury trial in Aruba, unlike the United States.
In fact, if they're charged, they'll appear in front of a single judge and be tried. If convicted, they have the right to a trial de novo, which, in effect, means a do over, and have a trial in front of a three-judge panel. However, that may seem helpful to the defense. On the other hand, if they are acquitted at the single judge trial, the government can appeal -- something that could not happen here.
HEMMER: Well, this is pretty -- before we get too far down the line, you're saying judges have a lot of power in Aruba, don't they?
SIMON: Absolutely.
HEMMER: And also, if you're going to go ahead for a second trial, though, are you saying essentially you can be tried twice for the same crime, which is what we call, what, double jeopardy here in the U.S.?
SIMON: Right. We have double jeopardy protections, and they do too in certain limited instances. But their system operates differently. And now we shouldn't pre-judge theirs as being worse or better than ours, it's just different. And their system, as I said, they do not have jury trials. They do not have trials, as we know them.
But a person, if charged, will appear in front of a single judge. They will still have the same standard of being proven beyond a reasonable doubt as to all the elements. But a single judge will render judgment of guilt or non-guilt. However, if the person is found guilty, they can then ask for a new trial, in fact, a do over. On the other hand, the government can ask for a do over.
HEMMER: Yes, if there's an acquittal, the government can go back, we want to do it again. I think that's very interesting and a big difference from our law here in the U.S.
SIMON: That's a big difference. And after that three-judge trial, either party could appeal to the Hague in the Netherlands for questions of law.
HEMMER: Which is essentially the U.S. Supreme Court there.
SIMON: Similar, yes.
HEMMER: Fifth point. You have a right not to incriminate yourself, similar to the Fifth Amendment here.
SIMON: Yes. That is similar to down there. Both in our country and in Aruba, there's the right to be free from self incriminating oneself. And that applies both in the investigative stage -- so where they're held now, they can stand on their quote, unquote, Fifth Amendment rights, which is, of course, not the Fifth Amendment down there, but their rights to be free from self incrimination and not necessarily cooperate or speak to the Police. If they are charged ... they cannot be required to be -- to testify against themselves. And if they don't testify, no adverse inference can be drawn.
HEMMER: Based on your position there in Philly, as you watch the criminal proceedings continue down there in Aruba, are they doing everything right?
SIMON: Well, I think you should expect very shortly, even though they're being detained, the lawyers will move to be -- to have their clients relieved of that detention and have it suspended and seek some kind of release on conditions because, as I said, there's an open question whether or not there is even a crime.
I mean, ask yourself. You have the three young men that were first questioned and released. Then you have the two security guards who were later arrested. There's no necessary connection between these two groups. And what's the likelihood that all of them have been involved in this, if, in fact, it is a crime?

On 6-10 CNNHN reported:

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Tonight, breaking news. An American girl, an 18- year-old beauty on her senior trip, high school senior trip to Aruba, vanishes into thin air. Tonight, the son of an Aruban judge remains behind bars in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Aruban officials have less than 24 hours to decide whether to keep him behind bars. As of tonight, no sign of the girl. Could Natalee still be alive?

And the intense search across the tiny island of Aruba goes on for the missing American girl Natalee Holloway. Five suspects behind bars tonight, but still no sign of Natalee. Tonight, in Aruba, defense attorney for the suspect Abraham Jones, Chris LeJuez is with us. In Santa Barbara, defense attorney Debra Opri. In Atlanta, defense attorney Penny Douglas Fir (ph) and felony prosecutor Eleanor Dixon. In New York, psychotherapist Caryn Stark. But first, let’s go to Aruba and CNN correspondent Karl Penhaul. Karl, explain to me, they have got 24 hours and they’ve got to decide whether to keep the judge’s son behind bars or let him go? KARL PENHAUL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Indeed, with all those three suspects, what Police are doing right now is gathering more evidence, putting together the dossiers along with prosecutors, and then they’ll have to take a decision as to whether to keep these men in jail for a third appearance so that the investigations can continue, Nancy. GRACE: Well, you know what? Maybe I’m crazy, but can they just decide to keep them there indefinitely? Don’t they have up to about 116 days before they have got to cut them loose? PENHAUL: That is what I understand. If they decide to formally charge them and then take these cases to trial, then the trial will have to go on before the 116-day time period, from what I understand, Nancy. GRACE: Karl Penhaul, is it true that authorities have now expanded the search to nearby islands? What does that mean? PENHAUL: Prosecutors have told us that they are in touch with their colleagues in South America. Obviously, Venezuela, very close by, and 19 miles, I believe, by sea from Aruba. They haven’t said, though, if there’s anything specific that’s leading to those countries or if it’s just one of many hypotheses, because as you know, Nancy, there’s nothing right now, no evidence, to indicate whether Natalee is alive or dead, on the island or somewhere else. GRACE: You know, Karl Penhaul, the other night -- Elizabeth, if you could show that map again -- you and I were talking about how, hey, the island is only 19 miles long, six miles wide. Well, I got in the car today and drove 20 miles without stopping. It’s a long way, through trees, through wilderness, through the scrub that grows there near the ocean. But it concerns me, Karl, that they are now expanding the search off the island. It suggests to me they believe she may have been taken by force off the island. PENHAUL: I don’t think that this news really indicates any extension of the investigations that already have been going on. It’s merely that they’re stipulating this. It’s merely one of the hypotheses, one of several hypotheses. They do continue to search here on the island, but as you say, even on an island 19-by-6 miles, it’s still a lot of area, a lot of scrub, a lot of barren land to search, Nancy. GRACE: We are live in Aruba with CNN correspondent Karl Penhaul. Not only him, but the defense attorney for one of the suspects behind bars tonight. Shortly, we will be joined by a representative from the district attorney’s office there. Take a listen to this. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)ANITA VAN DER SLOOT , SUSPECT'S MOTHER: He’s an honor student. He participated in model United Nations several times. He is a good speaker. He loves history, economics, politics. But his favorite subject is physical education, sports. And he’s an athlete, as well as in tennis and soccer. He enjoys being active. And he’s just a very spontaneous, open, 17-year-old teenager. It is just a terrible time. And, of course, we tried to go through every day life as good as possible, following the news, being concerned, thinking about the family. He went to school normally, because he’s in his exam year, so he’s just before his graduation. We try to do everything as normal as possible. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: This is a picture of her son, suspect Joran van der Sloot, pictured here. It’s on his own Web site. He has not been formally charged as of tonight. Straight back out to Aruba, standing by, CNN correspondent Karl Penhaul. Karl, what can you tell me about this young man, Joran van der Sloot? PENHAUL: As we’ve heard a little from his mother today, when we had a conversation with her, he is a good student. In fact, they’ve just had exams there, and we hear he’s passed his exams with flying colors. But he is a big sportsman. We understand he’s a baseball fan, above all, but he’s a physical guy. He likes his sports, Nancy. GRACE: Well, interesting. Isn’t he the son of an Aruban judge? PENHAUL: Certainly, what we could qualify as the son of an Arubian justice official. It’s difficult to compare like with like because of the differences in the justice systems. But certainly, yes, the son of a senior Arubian justice official. GRACE: I want to go to Chris LeJuez. He is the defense attorney for another of the suspects there in Aruba. We’re talking about missing 18- year-old girl Natalee Holloway, an American beauty. She had a full -- speaking of being a good student, she was a straight-A student in high school and has a full scholarship waiting for her at the University of Alabama, if she ever makes it home, if she makes it off the island of Aruba. To defense attorney for Abraham Jones, another of the suspects, Chris LeJuez is with us. Chris, have you learned any more about the evidence against your client? Your client is one of the two security guards, right? CHRIS LEJUEZ, DEFENSE ATTORNEY FOR ABRAHAM JONES: That’s right. I haven’t heard anything more regarding the proof or the evidence. GRACE: Well, Chris, are they going to hold your client indefinitely until they can gather more evidence? How long are you looking at for your client behind bars? LEJUEZ: No. We have a very -- we have a code of procedures in criminal cases. We follow that. It has stated in there that you have to prove to the judge of instruction, you have to show him the probable cause to keep any suspect in detention for a long period of time. The first eight days, a judge will look at the proof and decide whether or not there is enough evidence to keep him for another eight days. And after those eight days, he look at the proof again, because every time, the requirements to keep a person longer in detention become heavier. GRACE: We are live in Aruba. Here in the studio with me, a felony prosecutor, and a felony defense attorney, to Eleanor Dixon. Eleanor, how do you think, if at all, the episode with the runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks has affected the way everyone has -- well, many people -- have looked at this case? ELEANOR DIXON, CRIMINAL ATTORNEY: Well, maybe it’s given people a little bit of pause to go back and see -- search some other avenues, perhaps she ran away. However, I think the difference in this case, we’re talking about an 18-year-old girl who doesn’t have the resources that Jennifer Wilbanks had and certainly not the motivation to run away. GRACE: Do you think, Penny Douglas Fir (ph), that people are more jaded now when a woman disappears? I’m not talking about a child. But when an adult disappears, after Wilbanks, a lot of people, a lot of court- watchers believe, "Well, give it a few days. They’ll pop up."UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, of course they are. But I think, if you look at Wilbanks' record, it’s obvious that she had some psychological problems, Nancy. I think she had been prosecuted three times before she ran away this last time. This girl, I think, has an exemplary record and has had no prosecution, has had nothing but perfect records with school and everything else. GRACE: Very quickly, before we go to break, go back to Aruba, please, Elizabeth, to Karl Penhaul, the CNN correspondent there on the story. Karl, is it true that Aruban authorities have now requested help from South American authorities? PENHAUL: Not specifically help from South American authorities but Aruban authorities have been in touch with their colleagues in South America. Venezuela, obviously, being the closest, nearby country. Colombia being another neighboring country, pretty close by.But in a sense, this is merely a restatement of what has been going all along, talking to authorities in the surrounding countries, and of course, continuing cooperation with U.S. authorities, Nancy. GRACE: Very quickly going to break, Karl Penhaul, this young man, the son of the Aruban judicial employee, I guess you would call them there, was he the one that told cops he was kissing Natalee in the back of the grayish-silver Honda that night? PENHAUL: That is what we understand. In the evidence that has so far been put in some of the dossiers presented as evidence against the first two suspects, his witness statement isn’t there. But we understand, from the witness statements of the two other suspects arrested yesterday, that is what they say. They do say that Joran van der Sloot was kissing Natalee. And we do understand from Police that Natalee and Joran met the night before in the "Holiday Inn" Casino, Nancy. GRACE: We’ll be back with more facts as they emerge from Aruba. Eighteen-year-old American girl Natalee Holloway still missing. Is it possible she is alive on Aruba or has she been taken off the island? Please stay with us. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) DAVE HOLLOWAY, MISSING GIRL'S FATHER: This island is only approximately 100 square miles. And we had the thought that, you know, coming in here, that, hey, we would find her easy. And we’ve learned that, just through our efforts in ground searching, thousands of people walking the beaches inland, riding three-wheelers, four-wheelers, I even spent approximately four to five hours in a helicopter crisscrossing the island looking in most of the obvious areas, and still nothing.(END VIDEO CLIP)(COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) ANN JOHN, MOTHER OF SUSPECT MICKEY JOHN: I know to myself, my son will never, will never, will never put himself in this kind of situation. If you tell me my son might (UNINTELLIGIBLE) somebody a bad word -- I do it, too -- I will say, oh, yes. But with myself, with this way to try to kidnap a lady, I’ll say, no, no. I’d rather he’d kill me, if he do that instead (UNINTELLIGIBLE) because I don’t think my son is so dumb. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: Welcome back, everybody. I’m Nancy Grace. Thank you for being with us. We are live in Aruba with the mystery of a missing American girl, 18- year-old Natalee Holloway. She was just away on her high school senior trip, full scholarship to University of Alabama waiting on her. She has disappeared. When the cops got to her hotel room, the "Holiday Inn," right on the beach in Aruba, her bags were neatly packed, her passport there, her purse, her money, everything. The only thing missing was Natalee and her driver’s license. Tonight, let’s go straight back down to Aruba. With us now, the spokesperson for the Aruba prosecutor, Vivian van der Biezen. Thank you, Vivian, for being with us. Vivian, my first question, what evidence do you have, if any, that links these five men to NATALEE’s disappearance? VIVIAN VAN DER BIEZEN, SPOKESPERSON FOR ARUBA PROSECUTOR: Well, Nancy, right now, we are talking about we have a reasonable suspicion that these five men have something to do with the disappearance of Natalee, and that’s what we are investigating right now. GRACE: Vivian, how long can you hold them before formal charges are brought? VAN DER BIEZEN: Well, you can hold a suspect, in general, for a period of ten days before the prosecutor has to present formal charges to the judge. GRACE: What we are showing you, everybody, is a grayish-silver Honda as it is being impounded. We believe that may be the car that Natalee left the bar, it’s a bar-restaurant, Carlos and Charlie’s, there on the island of Aruba that evening. There were classmates there. They saw her leave. She left with three young men she had met there at the bar, possibly the night before. Back to Vivian van der Biezen. She is the spokesperson for the local prosecutor there. Do you plan to formally charge these men? And if so, when? VAN DER BIEZEN: Well, the first suspects, their period will be over next Wednesday. So at that time, if the prosecutor decides to keep them for a longer time in detention, she will have to show the judge that she will have enough proof, enough evidence to support her charges. GRACE: Take a listen to this. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) VAN DER SLOOT: I’m praying. I’m thinking about her, about the family. We’re all thinking about her. And I don’t know what to do more right now. JOHN: The problem is now simply, they have (UNINTELLIGIBLE) question (UNINTELLIGIBLE) because once you are black -- I’m in Aruba 26 years. I’m not Arubian, and I cannot, will not -- they will (UNINTELLIGIBLE) (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: Back down to Vivian van der Biezen. Vivian, my question to you, regarding these five men in custody, is there any physical evidence linking them to NATALEE’s disappearance? VAN DER BIEZEN: Well, Nancy, we are investigating that right now. And giving more information on this, we will jeopardize our investigation. So I’m sorry, but I cannot elaborate on this. But I would like to state that you mentioned earlier a period of detention. I would like to state that this refers to a maximum period. In general, the prosecution would always like to bring a case forward as soon as possible. In general, we bring cases before the judge in about two or three months. And it’s always depends on the difficulty of the case, if the investigation can be closed at an earlier time. So the period of 116 days is really a maximum term. But always, when the prosecutor asks for an extension of the detention period, the judge will review it. GRACE: Very quickly back to Vivian van der Biezen. Why is it that the defense attorneys for the other four have not been allowed to see this Dutch boy’s statement, the son of the Aruban judicial official? VAN DER BIEZEN: This is because when a defense attorney has a client, then the defense attorney will have only the statements that relate to his clients. If the defense attorney doesn’t have information about one of the suspects, this means that this suspect did not have any accusations against his client. GRACE: Very quickly, break, and to "Trial Tracking." Last week, Texas authorities took temporary custody of a 12-year-old cancer patient, Katie Wernecke, after a tip on possible parental neglect. Now, her parents are in court to block the state from giving their daughter radiation treatment for cancer. Texas Child Protective Services say Katie’s life is in danger if this 12-year-old girl does not get medical treatment for deadly cancer. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) KATIE WERNECKE, 12-YEAR-OLD CANCER PATIENT: I feel great. I don’t need radiation treatment. And nobody asked me what I wanted. It’s my body. (END VIDEO CLIP) (COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)VAN DER SLOOT: He was not upset. He understood the Police. He was quiet. He was open. He helped the Police as much as possible. He was willing to speak to the parents. He was willing to help in anything, and he had a kind of quietness. And he said, "Mom, don’t be upset, because everything will be fine. I know I’m innocent. I didn’t do anything." And in a very almost naive way, he was very open with us, told us everything what happened. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: Welcome back, everybody. I’m Nancy Grace. Thank you for being with us. Let’s go straight back down to Aruba. We were speaking with a representative from the district attorney’s office.Back to Karl Penhaul, CNN correspondent in Aruba. Karl, we know that this silver-gray Honda was impounded, 11 days too late, in my opinion. I’m shocked that they released the car, let it sit there for 11 days, knowing that Natalee had left Carlos and Charlie’s in that car. Who knows what blood evidence, semen evidence, fiber evidence off her clothes, her hair, fingerprints may have been lost in 11 days? But all that aside, whose car is it? PENHAUL: This appears to be the car of the family from Joran van der Sloot. We haven’t got confirmation of precisely whose car it is. Also, Nancy, we don’t have confirmation from the Police at this stage whether, in fact, this was the car that they traveled in or if they were traveling in a car from the other two suspects, the two brothers who were also arrested at the same time. Although in these raids, only one car was detained, so we suspect this is that car, Nancy. GRACE: To Chris LeJuez, defense attorney for Abraham Jones, Chris, is there some sort of a hearing tomorrow? LEJUEZ: Not as far as I know, Nancy. I have not been advised of it, and I will be apprised when there will be the next hearing on this case. GRACE: To Karl Penhaul. It’s my understanding that authorities had to decide in the next 24 hours whether to hold the suspects or release them. Does that require a court hearing? PENHAUL: There are a number of timelines running here, Nancy. Of course, one timeline for the two suspects. Their next appearance before a court or before a judge of instruction to decide the next step will be next week, we understand Wednesday. The timelines for the three suspects who were detained yesterday, doing the calculation, will be a period of six hours, then following that, two days. So we would expect sometime over the weekend for a judge of instruction to decide if there’s enough evidence there to continue to hold them in custody pending further investigations, Nancy. GRACE: Karl, what’s the status of the search? I was overwhelmed when I learned FBI divers came to the island and never put one toe in the water. Nobody has been diving for Natalee Holloway. I don’t understand that. Why? PENHAUL: The FBI has told us that the reason for that, Nancy, is because nobody from the government, nobody from the investigative team here, pinpointed any area that they could search. They also indicated that that’s also the reason they’re not bringing search dogs in. As we said, 19 miles by six miles, it seems a small island, but all added up, it still makes an extensive area to search. You can’t just go and search that anyhow. You have to have some area to narrow the search down to pinpoint an area, Nancy. GRACE: OK, all right. You know what, Karl? Call me crazy. But didn’t they say they all went down to the beach? Wouldn’t that be a great place to start with search dogs and divers? PENHAUL: Certainly, Aruba’s search teams have searched the beach areas, particularly the sandy areas where something may have been buried. GRACE: OK. Karl Penhaul joining us from Aruba.

On 6-10 DUTCH news-sourced “Expatica” reported:

Teen held over US woman's disappearanceAMSTERDAM — A 17-year-old Dutch male was arrested in Oranjestad in Aruba on Thursday on suspicion he was involved in the disappearance of an 18-year-old US student. The suspect is the son of a Dutch judge who has worked on Aruba for many years. Two Surinamese brothers, aged 18 and 20, have also been arrested. The three males were previously questioned as witnesses because they were the last ones to have seen the missing woman, Natalee Holloway. Police now consider them suspects.Holloway disappeared 10 days ago at the end of a school trip she took with 120 other students. The three suspects said they took Natalee to her hotel on 29 May after a night of partying. But the student never arrived at the airport the next day for the flight home. Two other men, aged 28 and 30, were arrested on 5 June and are still being held on remand. The men were employed as security guards at a hotel near the Holiday Inn, where Holloway was staying.Prosecution officials no longer hold out any hope Holloway is still alive.Besides local authorities, Dutch marines, FBI agents and hundreds of civilians, public servants and tourists are searching for the missing student.Aruba is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is known as a safe island in the Caribbean. The last tourist to have been killed on the island was murdered in 1996.

On 6-10 “The Aruba Tradewinds Times” reported, “ORANJESTAD-Tourism officials on the island confirmed that tourism is beginning to feel the affects of the disappearance of Natalee due to bad press of the island. One of the wholesalers in the US has noted a few cancellations on reservations to Aruba. The amount of cancellations is not mentioned.”
On 6-10 ARUBAAN's news-source "Aruba Tradewinds Times" reported, “ORANJESTAD-Many were puzzled as to why the 3 boys arrested last week as witnesses to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were released so soon. Many asked why the 3 boys were not pressured more to give details. There is one answer to that! On Wednesday the authorities said it was all a tactic. The authorities have released the 3 boys but were monitoring every movement of the boys from a distance for a week. It is therefore that the authorities have now accumulated sufficient evidence and information to have them arrested yesterday as suspects in the disappearance of Natalee. Vivian van der Biezen spokesperson of the Attorney General said that on early Thursday morning the 3 boys were arrested. They are identified as J. van der Sloot of 17 years born in The Netherlands, the two brothers S. Kalpoe age 18 born in Suriname and D. Kaploe age 21 born in Suriname. The homes of the 3 suspects were thoroughly searched and a few belongings relevant to the disappearance were taking into custody. Van der Biezen says that the 3 boys were with Natalee near Arashi Beach after a night out at Carlos 'N Charlie's. According to the declaration by the Kaploe brothers, only van der Sloot had sex with Natalee. After the intimate act the 3 boys brought Natalee at the "Holiday Inn" Hotel. The boys said that Natalee was very drunk and when she stepped out of the car in front of the hotel she fell on the ground. When one of the boys went out to help get her back up, Natalee pushed him away and said 'I can stand on my own'. They saw her walk towards the lobby of the "Holiday Inn" and a security guard approach her and escorted her towards the lobby. The cameras at the entrance of the "Holiday Inn" did not show Natalee entering the lobby of the hotel. The security guard was described as a black male wearing a black T-shirt and a black pants with a radio. Authorities have confirmed that J. van der Sloot met Natalee previously at a casino on May 29th. According to authorities there are now 5 suspects in the case divided in two groups. The 3 boys that were with Natalee and the 2 security guards that were once employed at the Allegro Hotel. The 2 security guards were laid off because of renovation at the Allegro hotel and were arrested at their homes in San Nicolas.”
On 6-10 the “AP” reported “A missing Alabama honors student went to an Aruban beach with a Dutch teen the night she disappeared and had sexual contact with him in the car, a defense lawyer representing one of five men arrested in the case said Friday.” “‘We think she's alive,’ said Holloway's stepmother, Robin Holloway, who added that authorities told the family they had expanded the search to other nearby islands.” “His comments came after Holloway's stepfather, George "Jug" Twitty, told the AP she met the Dutch student in the casino of her hotel and flirted with him two days before she disappeared.” “Twitty told the AP he met with the Dutch teen and Surinamese brothers early Tuesday, and they told him they were with his stepdaughter at Carlos' N Charlie's nightclub restaurant Sunday night, shortly before she disappeared. The men said Holloway had been dancing and flirting with the Dutch teen, the son of a high-ranking Dutch judicial official in Aruba, before they dropped her at the hotel, Twitty said. She was drunk and stumbled when she tried to get out of the car, the boys told him. When the Dutch teen tried to help her she refused, saying, ‘I can stand on my own,’ the men told Twitty. He said the meeting was arranged by the Police.” “Oduber met with Holloway's relatives and pledged that Police would not exclude anyone from their investigation.”
On 6-10 CNN wrote “Police previously interviewed the teenagers, but waited until Thursday, 11 days after Natalee's disappearance, to arrest them. They confiscated property, including a car and a computer.”
Late on 6-10 FOX News, “AP,” and CNN reported that ARUBAN Police commissioner GERALD DOMPIG and EDT. J. WARD CROES stated that one of the arrested suspects had confessed, and Police were being taken to a crime scene. ARUBAN Police commissioner GERALD DOMPIG also stated that one of the persons in custody had stated "that something bad happened to NATALEE.” Shortly after that statement became public, a press conference was held in which one senior government official made no reference to the Assistant commissioner's statement, choosing rather, to say that the authorities were at a critical juncture in the investigations. (the reports of a confession and Police being led to the body were retracted by ARUBAN officials the same day)
On 6-10 NATALEE’s Loved Ones rush to a lighthouse after a Police official tells the media that one of the three young men in custody admitted “something bad happened” and was leading Police to the scene. But prosecutors refuse to confirm or deny the information, which yields no new developments.
On July 11, 2005 JOSSY MANSUR stated that on 6-10 while Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was being interrogated, SLOOT “broke down and cried” and told interrogators, “WE buried NATALEE.” [my EMPHASIS]
JOSSY MANSUR stated the 5-30 first burial spot was in the beach, near a fisherman’s hut, just north of the “Marriott Hotel.” (sometime during the second week after NATALEE vanished it was reported by local ARUBA media that a boat cover, tape, rope, and an anchor(s) that were near the fishermen’s hut were reported stolen) JOSSY MANSUR also reported that as of 7-11 Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT has told Investigators 14 to 16 different versions of events.
On August 1, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated that on 6-10 BETH was given information that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT had confessed and that NATALEE was probably not alive, so BETH then phoned her mother and told her.
On August 14, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated that on 6-10 and into 6-11 they were receiving reports that one of the Murder Suspects in custody had murdered NATALEE, and it was from 6-10 on that the family only started thinking that NATALEE may have been murdered.
On July 12, 2005 PAUL REYNOLDS told MSNBC, “I know that my sister had a meeting with the F.B.I. June 10, Friday. And from that meeting, she became convinced that Natalee was no longer alive. She called her mother and told her that. And our family was—was—began the grieving process. You know, we were told the report would come out the next day. Later that night, we saw the reports that confessions had been made, that something bad had happened. Shortly thereafter, it was retracted. The next morning, there was a report that said Natalee was confirmed dead. And these reports came from the deputy commissioner. They came from the spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice. And then, all of a sudden, these statements and these confessions just disappeared.” “I am not aware of any follow-up information. You know, this seemed to disappear from sight, these confessions did. At the time, we thought that because the investigation is kept secret, we thought it was ongoing, and maybe they just didn't want to release it officially at that time. But, as we see that the appeals, the hearings are showing there's no evidence, but yet we have these confessions, it doesn't make any sense. It's as if they are being hidden or taken away.”
On August 17, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to FOX News that her D.N.A. was requested by ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN on 6-10 (BETH gave saliva and blood samples)
On 6-10 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to ABC, “I know in my heart, and I know in my faith in God, we are going to find Natalee. Giving up hope is not an option.” BETH is extraordinarily proud of her daughter. "I was excited for her. What an accomplishment. What a huge milestone in her life — to me the summer was a bridge to another life," she said. The searching and not knowing where her child is definitely is taking an emotional toll on BETH. "Some mornings I wake up just mad, just mad. And some mornings I wake up just really sad. And some mornings, I'll wake up both. I'll wake up sad and it'll turn to anger within two hours. "We are in this and we are not going anywhere. I'm not leaving, and you wouldn't either," Beth said.
On 6-10 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to ABC that he last saw his daughter at her graduation. "We hugged each other, and got some pictures and I asked her to be careful on her trip. And that was the last time I've seen her," he said. Her father doesn't think Natalee would have run away. "She has too much going for her. She has a family, a close-knit family. That would not be, in my opinion, an option," he said. When Dave and Phil Holloway arrived, they began a ground search that has gone on day and night. "I just can't sit in a hotel room. I've got to be out looking. You look at a map, and it's not that big an island. It can't be that hard. We'll find her easy," Dave said. "I'm a determined hard-headed person. I think about that a little bit in the back of my mind, but then again I try to get focused and think eventually something is going to turn up. It's got to," her father said.
On 6-10 the St. MAARTEN “The Daily Herald” reported, “A notably tired Aruba Police spokesman Papito Comenencia indicated that the search for Holloway continued with about 100 persons working on the case on a daily basis. He said by now Police had pursued 200 tips and emphasized that each serious tip was being investigated. This also implies that sometimes the Police search the same location more than once. In the interest of the investigation, Comenencia doesn’t want to mention how and where is being searched. He also doesn’t want to go into details about the role of the FBI. “The F.B.I. supports the investigation with manpower and technical advice,” was all he would say. Comenencia confirmed that a bloodhound would possibly be flown in from the United States soon to help in the search. The search by dive teams in the area designated by Police has ended, meanwhile, as the sea bottom was combed for a week, without result.”
On 6-10 FRANCES BYRD told ABC, “She's fine. I know that she is. She's smart. She's gonna be fine. She's coming home.”
On 6-10 ODUBER said, “finding Natalee Holloway was the number one goal," but, during the same 6-10 weekend, the search for NATALEE was actually scaled back by the Aruba government, with Aruba search teams venturing out only after first receiving credible tips and coast guard patrols off shore.
By 6-10 only 5 F.B.I. agents remained in ARUBA observing the investigation, said Judy Orihuela. The weekend of 6-10 two UNITED STATES F.B.I. divers traveled to ARUBA over the weekend and returned to the UNITED STATES early the next week. "They were asked to do some site survey," UNITED STATES F.B.I. spokesperson Orihuela said. "They never got in the water." "They never had any information like, she could be in this place or that area," Orihuela said. The decision not to dive was "bizarre," said Joe "Texas EquuSearch's" JOE HUSTON, a rescue diver with Dickinson, Texas-based Texas EquuSearch. The volunteer group began a new search in ARUBA yesterday that was expected to include divers and sonar equipment. "If her body was put in the ocean, there's a good chance now she'll never be found," Mr. "Texas EquuSearch's" JOE HUSTON said.
On 6-10 ODUBER made a national radio address, saying if anything happened to HOLLOWAY it would be bad for the island, long considered one of the safest CARIBBEAN OCEAN nations to visit, whose main industry is tourism.
On 6-10 “law enforcement sources close to the investigation” said a substance found in Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's Honda was not blood, based on a sample analyzed at an F.B.I. laboratory in Quantico, Virginia. Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT , Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE ,
????…. so what IS the substance found in the back of Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's car ???? (if it is vomit, depending on its chemical makeup--possibly containing a date-rape drug--the substance found still could be indicative of a crime)
On 6-10 ROBIN HOLLOWAY told the "AP," "We think she's alive," who added that authorities told the family they had expanded the search to other nearby islands.
On 6-10 PIETERSZ told the "AP" she had seen documents, reportedly statements made by Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE and Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE , that NATALEE had kissed Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT in the car.
NBC reported 6-10 that UNITED STATES F.B.I. agents met with NATALEE's parents, telling them the agency could not yet determine if NATALEE is dead.
RICHARD PARTON, an AMERICAN and owner of a voice stress analyzation equipment company goes to ARUBA to offer his equipment to the ARUBAN Police for use. As far as is known the ARUBAN Police never utilized his equipment.
F.B.I. Special Agents within the UNITED STATES have questioned most, if not all, of the Mountain Brook high school classmates who went on the ARUBA trip.
On October 24, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC, “Now, we have a lead Investigator, Gerald Dompig, who is coming up—coming out and saying that these three young men are the perpetrators. Initially, van der Straten was placed on as lead Investigator as early as May 31, June 1, 2, 3, 4. And around the 5, van der Straten was removed from Natalee‘s case by the prime minister. And Dompig was placed as lead Investigator, and we were—we welcomed that. We welcomed that, because of the connection that Paul van der Sloot and van der Straten had. They had a—they‘re very good friends, very, very close. Even—van der Straten is even Joran van der Sloot‘s godfather. So, when Gerald Dompig was placed on as lead Investigator, we were just—we were relieved. And he actually—you know, he was actually beginning to see just what had happened. And I felt—we felt he was getting close to the answer. And then, suddenly, within a few days, he was off. And van der Straten was back on board.” “I have told Prime Minister Oduber that I will do this, I will be the voice of Natalee for the next 40 years.” “I met with Prime Minister Oduber. I [told him] don‘t care who you put the pressure on, where it comes from, but I want—you need to figure it out. You need to figure out who needs to apply the pressure and where it needs to be applied, because you have to solve this crime. I said, you do not want to turn me loose from this island without an answer.” “You know, Joran van der Sloot and Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were not denying. They were not denying a crime. They were implicating each other. They were fingering each other over and over again. And that was the day that the F.B.I. came in, Doug Shipley came in, and said that the way the interrogations are unfolding, there‘s a strong possibility that Natalee may not be alive. That was huge. That was the day that—I think, Joe, everyone buried Natalee that day, on June 10. And then it just—from there, the night went on. There were body sightings, countless. They were knocking on my door. They thought they found her. Oh, no, they didn‘t. It went on from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. It was horrific. So, whatever was happening that day, on June 10, we were getting the answer. Then, the next day, June 11, is when Prime Minister Oduber comes on international media and announces to the world that there‘s blood; there‘s blood in Deepak and Satish Kalpoe‘s car. I mean, all that was happening for a reason.”
On December 1, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC “Well, I certainly hope that Arlene Schipper is not placing this—the family coming forward and endorsing a boycott due to this taped interview from Deepak Kalpoe. That is just simply—nothing could be farther from the truth. And endorsing the boycott and it‘s coming from the family‘s frustration of the mishandling of Natalee‘s case. And I think everyone knows that November the 4th was a huge turning point for the family when—receiving a letter from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Augustine Vrolijk, and how he‘s stating now that Aruba is not responsible for the investigation. I think out of frustration, we look back on how we were pleading, written and verbal requests for help from the government officials on the island of Aruba and receiving none, no guidance, no direction.” “I’m really glad that you guys have been able to you know get a hold of the tape. I’m hoping that we can have that analyzed, have it transcribed, and put it to rest and you know then get focused on the rest of the evidence that Aruba has collected all along. I mean Dan, there are unbelievable statements coming from Joran van der Sloot from June 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 that have audio and videotape that they need to be worrying about those and reviewing those and not just one taped evidence that Jamie Skeeter3 was able to obtain.”
On January 16, 2006 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY shared with FOX News further entries to her timeline/journal. BETH stated that the search today caught NATALEE’s Loved Ones by surprise. No ARUBAN called the family about the search and she only learned of it when FOX News happened to make some phone calls to ARUBA earlier in the day. BETH stated that the lighthouse dunes has “always been a suspicious area,” including when DAVE HOLLOWAY observed some suspicious activity in the lighthouse/dunes area on 6-2, just before the DUTCH Marines conducted their first search there. BETH referred to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT mentioning the lighthouse/sand dunes area in his statements/confessions and “the area of the sand dunes just becomes very suspicious in his statements.” In his first Police statement “When Joran gets to the point where he mentions the sand dunes, there are no more details. It ends abruptly, and then he comes up with the elaborate story of how he drops her off at the ‘Holiday Inn,’ she falls, bumps her head, the two security guards come up, so, it’s always been an area of concern of the family.” BETH stated that NATALEE’s Loved Ones have known “as early as June” about the fishermen’s huts being broken into and a large filet knife was stolen, but BETH did not learn until July about the large fish trap also being stolen from the fishermen’s huts. BETH stated that they know about KOEN GOTTENBOS, who is Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s “really good friend” and GOTTENBOS’s father owning a boat even being mentioned in Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s “first statement he gives to Police.” “Someone else who really concerns us is Steven Croes, who has access.” “For some reason--Steve Croes--he did not just come forward to protect Joran. He has some information. I mean, he came forward as a witness, they determined he was lying, and THEN he became a suspect in Natalee’s case. What information he had? Whether he had access to a boat that night? Yes, it is very, very possible these boys had done something with her body, in the water--absolutely.” From her detailed journal BETH stated that on 6-10 the F.B.I. told NATALEE’s Loved Ones that it looks like NATALEE may not be alive because the 3 Main Murder Suspects were “beginning to implicate each other, and they were not denying the crime, and they were finger-pointing at each other.” From her detailed journal BETH stated that on 6-12 DAVE HOLLOWAY became aware that a woman teacher at Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s school had reported on the telephone hotline that a school peer of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s “had divulged what van der Sloot had done to Natalee. This teacher reportedly called the hotline, and was trying to tell the officials that Joran had confessed to this peer at his school what he had done to Natalee.” BETH does not know if this woman teacher was ever interviewed, or not, by the ARUBAN Police. From her detailed journal BETH stated that on 6-16 NATALEE’s Loved Ones received information from “a spokesperson” about a Murder Suspects time discrepancies--Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT was arrested 6-22 because he had originally told the ARUBAN Police he had picked up Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT from 4:00 AM from “McDonald’s” on 5-30, but later Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT changed the, supposed, “McDonald’s” pickup time of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT to 11:00 PM on 5-29. When FOX News asked if any explanation has ever been given, by anyone, as to why Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT changed the “McDonald‘s“ pickup time from 4:00 AM to 5 hours earlier at 11:00 PM, BETH stated, “No, but Jan van der Straten knew--he knew--that Paulus van der Sloot had changed this time pickup, and that is why he was arrested. That is solely why Paulus van der Sloot was arrested.” From her detailed journal BETH stated that on 7-11 BETH had a meeting with ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN where ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN said that the ARBAN Police have documented records that Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT made a cellular phone call and text-messaged a message to Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's computer at his home at 3:30 AM on 5-30. Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s 3:30 AM text-message simply was “Thanks. I’m home.” (BETH does not know how Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT was able to return home) ((recall BETH’s 9-15 statements to the NBC TV show, “Dr. Phil.”---On 9-15 BETH stated that in one of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s statements to ARUBAN Police, Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT claimed, "Well, when I hear them speaking of they're trying to decide whether Natalee has been raped or kidnapped,” Beth says “I have read, I've had translated to me Joran van der Sloot's statements. And one of his statements that I found was huge, and this was the one that he gave on June 13 at 8:30 in the morning, and he now states that this is the truth, quote, this is Joran saying 'Now here's the truth. Now I want to tell you the truth. I drove Natalee — We drove Natalee to my home at 1:40 a.m. I want her to come in. I have sex with her. Next’ — and remember in all his statements she's coming in and out of consciousness — next he says that then he took her to the beach, he took her to the fisherman's hut. And then he calls Deepak at 3:30 a.m. to come pick him up from the fisherman's hut. Deepak comes. And Deepak says, ‘Don't fuck with the bitch. Let's go.’ (BETH actually said "Don't 'f' with the 'b'") Every statement that he gives, like I said, so sexually explicit and graphically detailed of what he does to her. It just is amazing to me that he can even admit to having sex with her. And that's not a crime?")) ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN also told BETH that there was an 8-and-a-half minute call between Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s cellular phone and Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE's cellular phone--the longest cellular phone call ever recorded between the two boys cellular phones. “We were never able to find out what time that phone call took place, or any of the conversations that were disclosed--that they [the ARUBAN Police] knew this was significant because this had never taken place before, and I don’t know what eighteen, or seventeen year-old and twenty-two year-old boy are going to have an eight-and-a-half minute cell phone call, on the very night that they took Natalee.”

On 6-10 the “National Enquirer” reported:

POLICE MAKE ARRESTS IN HOLLOWAY CASEPolice arrested three more suspects Thursday in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The Alabama high-school senior went missing on a school trip to Aruba on May 30. On Sunday, police arrested two suspects and are looking into any possible link between them and the three arrested on Thursday.

On 6-10 the BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA “Post Herald” reported:

Recent Mountain Brook graduates are tight-lipped about Aruba trip
By ANDREW NELSONBIRMINGHAM POST-HERALD
Recent graduates who accompanied Natalee Holloway on last month's trip to Aruba were asked by her family not to talk to reporters, said one who attended the prayer service at Mountain Brook Community Church on Thursday.
Most of those who attended the prayer service at the church, which is on the former campus of Southeastern Bible College, said they couldn't say anything, including - in almost every case - their names.
"But thank you, though."
The young woman who said the family had asked them not to talk to the media was part of a group of three. After the conversation ended and the reporter turned away, another woman in the group called back: "Sorry, it's just kind of hard to talk."
When asked if the family feared that negative publicity - like a story from The Associated Press on Thursday that reported Holloway had been drinking before her disappearance - might jeopardize the search for her, Twitty said Holloway's safe return is all that matters.
"Alcohol never plays a good role in anything," she said during a news conference Thursday. "That whole thing is part of this puzzle we'll answer later. Right now, we need to find Natalee."
Twitty, who said she had 23 years of experience in public relations and marketing, said after the prayer service that the story of what transpired on Aruba during the trip would come out eventually. After all this is over, she said, the students "can talk all they want." Post-Herald reporter Daniel Jackson contributed to this story.

On 6-10 the “AP” reported:

Three more arrested in teen’s disappearance
Aruban PM: Finding her is ‘No. 1 goal’
ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Aruba’s prime minister said Thursday that finding a missing Alabama teenager was the country’s “No. 1 goal,” and police arrested three young men who acknowledged giving her a ride the night she disappeared.
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber said his government was working closely with U.S. authorities to solve the case of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, who dropped from sight more than a week ago.
Oduber said Holloway’s disappearance had left the island nation “in a state of shock and disbelief.”
“The hearts of the people of Aruba are touched by Natalee and her family,” he said at a news conference. “Resolving this is Aruba’s No. 1 goal.”
Those arrested Thursday were two brothers from Suriname and a 17-year-old Dutch student who is the son of a high-ranking Dutch justice official.
The two brothers are identified as Satish and Deepak Kaploe of Suriname. The student is identified as Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot, a student at Aruba International School.
Van Der Sloot left his home in the middle-class Montana neighborhood of Oranjestad on Thursday with his head covered in a blue-and-green striped towel. He is said to have lived on the island for more than 10 years.
‘Hope is still alive’
The prime minister, who said he had met with Holloway’s relatives, pledged that police would not exclude anyone from their investigation.
“On this island nobody stands above the law,” he said, stressing that “hope is still alive” that Holloway will be found unharmed.
The 17-year-old met Holloway at a casino in her hotel, the Holiday Inn, two nights before she disappeared on May 30, Aruban Police Cmdr. Jahn van der Straaten told reporters.
In Mountain Brook, Ala., Holloway’s hometown, some of the 123 teenagers who went to Aruba with her on a graduation trip were quoted as saying the Dutch teenager was at several places the group visited, including the restaurant-bar where the honors student was last seen.
Third man recognized
Marcia Twitty, Holloway’s aunt, said the Alabama students recognized the Dutch teenager from photos shown them by FBI agents. “They had seen him around during the trip. He was just a local guy in the bar and the casino where all the kids were just kind of hanging out,” she said.
Attorney General Caren Janssen said the three men were arrested about 6 a.m. but refused to name them or say on what grounds they were being held. Authorities previously described them as students — two Surinamese brothers and the son of a Dutch justice official studying to be a judge.
“The three people have been arrested as suspects,” chief government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg told The Associated Press. Police also impounded a gray Honda; Holloway’s friends reported last seeing her leave in a silver car.
A source close to the investigation said the two brothers told police that Holloway had been drinking and fell down as she got out of the car, according to the source.
The source said that when van der Sloot tried to help her, she refused, saying, “I can stand on my own.”
The brothers added that a man dressed in a black security uniform and carrying a walkie-talkie went up to the teen, seemingly to offer his assistance. The suspects then drove off and did not see her again.
Previously ‘persons of interest’
The three are the same “persons of interest” questioned last week on this Dutch Caribbean island. At that time, they told police they took Holloway to a beach and then dropped her off at her hotel at 2 a.m. on May 30, the night she vanished. Hotel security cameras did not record her return, however.
The 17-year-old met Holloway at a hotel casino in the Holiday Inn where she was staying two days before her disappearance, Aruban police Cmdr. Jahn van der Straaten said Thursday.
The attorney general’s office earlier said the three were considered witnesses and not suspects.
Sufficient cause to hold two others
On Wednesday, a judge ruled there was sufficient cause to keep holding two former hotel security guards in connection with Holloway's disappearance.
The decision means authorities may hold Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, for nearly four months while prosecutors investigate possible murder and kidnapping charges in the disappearance of the 18-year-old, defense attorneys said. Neither man has been formally charged.
Janssen confirmed the decision handed down at a closed hearing at a police station where the men are jailed.
Police and the FBI kept up their search for Holloway but said a lack of any solid leads was hindering progress. Local officials have asked the FBI to bring in dogs trained to search.
John and Jones were arrested Sunday on suspicion of first- and second-degree murder and capital kidnapping, the latter of which is invoked when a kidnapping victim is killed, according to court-appointed defense attorneys Noraina Pietersz and Chris Lejuez.
Judge J.S. Kuiperdal will review the case on June 15 and every eight days after that if needed, officials said. Authorities may hold the suspects for 116 days without filing formal charges.
The former security guards worked for a hotel two blocks from the Holiday Inn where Holloway stayed. Their work contracts had expired May 29.
June 15 key date
Lejuez has said the suspects deny any connection to Holloway. Both men are Aruban citizens, although one is originally from Grenada, Lejuez said.
In an interview after the hearing, Pietersz said prosecutors asked that the defendants be kept in jail at least until June 15, when they hope to conclude their investigation.
Vivian Van Der Biezan, spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office, said investigators must come up with some evidence to hold the suspects beyond that date.
Der Biezan also said she would check into whether Dutch law allows a charge of murder if no body is found. Investigators “cannot exclude the possibility of a criminal act because of the days that have passed.”
Under Aruban law, only serious suspicion from investigators — not solid evidence — is needed for a judge to rule that suspects can be held, Pietersz said.
“I do believe my client is innocent, that’s all I can tell you,” she added.
At least one of the suspects had a reputation of trying to pick up women at tourist hotels on the Dutch Caribbean island, police said. But both men insist they never met Holloway, Lejuez said.
Murder Suspect's wife: 'He was home'
Jones’ common-law wife, Cynthia De Graaf, said she and her husband were together continuously May 29 and May 30.
“He was home. He was even sick,” De Graaf said, breaking down in tears as she waited for the hearing to start. “They ruined everything. My daughter has been asking for her father.”
Jones’ mother, Cynthia Rosalie Jones, added that the only way her son knew about Holloway was from seeing the television news.
“They have my son there for something he knows nothing about,” Jones said emphatically. “My son is innocent.”
Authorities have not said Holloway was a victim of foul play and have not ruled out any possibilities, including that she may have drowned, Janssen said Tuesday.
“I haven’t seen any proof she is not alive,” Lejuez said Wednesday, adding that regarding his clients, “In my opinion, there is no evidence whatsoever that they are involved in the disappearance of Natalee.”
Investigators searched the suspects’ homes and impounded three vehicles, carrying away bags of items, but said they had not found any of Holloway’s belongings.
A graduation trip gone awry
The night she disappeared, Holloway ate and danced at a bar and restaurant. She did not show up for her flight hours later, and police found her passport in her hotel room with her packed bags.
Seven chaperones accompanied the students on the trip.
It was not clear if Holloway had been drinking the night of her disappearance, though her relatives say she does not party much and is a straight-A student who had earned a full scholarship at the University of Alabama.
The Aruba government and local tourism organizations have offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to Holloway’s rescue, her family and benefactors in Alabama have offered an additional $30,000, and Carlos’ n Charlie’s donated another $5,000 for a total of $55,000.

JOE SCARBOROUGH, HOST: Natalee Holloway‘s family continues to hold out hope, as the desperate search for the Alabama teen continues tonight in Aruba. Tonight‘s top headline, Aruban police continue to grill the suspects, trying to dig for information that will lead them to Natalee Holloway.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANITA VAN DER SLOOT , MOTHER OF SUSPECT: We all want this case to be solved, that we know that Joran is 200 percent innocent, that he only wanted to help.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
SCARBOROUGH (voice-over): We will speak to the mother of the suspect who may have known Natalee best and could have been one of the last people she ever saw.
And we will go live to Aruba to get the latest on the investigation, on the suspects, on Natalee‘s family and the desperate search that goes on into its 12th day.
...
SCARBOROUGH: Well, it‘s been 12 days now since 18-year-old Natalee Holloway disappeared on the island Aruba. Today, her family made it clear that they think that the three young men surely know something about what happened to Natalee, obviously, those three young men that picked her up on that night she disappeared.
Let‘s go live now to Aruba and NBC‘s Martin Savidge, get the very latest on the search.
Martin, what news do you have for us tonight?
MARTIN SAVIDGE, NBC CORRESPONDENT: Good evening to you, Joe.
Well, the biggest news is that those three newest suspects will appear before a judge tomorrow, including the 17-year-old. That‘s Joran van der Sloot. And it‘s expected that what will take place is, the judge is going to basically listen to the evidence so far against them, the suspicions, primarily, of murder and kidnapping, and determine whether or not it‘s justified continuing to hold all three. It is anticipated he will say it is justified.
The searching goes on. The size of the team searching on a daily basis fluctuates. They are still out there looking. Many times, it is family members. Many times, they are bolstered by a lot of volunteers that show up. Sometimes, they are looking just in places they have not been. Other times, they are site specific. It could based upon a lead or a tip that investigators have received.
And speaking about that, hardly a day goes by that authorities do not receive some sort of phone call saying that Natalee was seen alive on the island. Each one of these sightings is quickly investigated. Sadly, we can only report tonight obviously none of them have come to fruition.
The government has pledged that finding Natalee is the number one goal. For the family, though, every day, it gets more and more difficult. Still, they are bolstered by the support of the people of Aruba. This is how the father of Natalee Holloway described all of it.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HOLLOWAY: I spoke with the prime minister last night, and we had a heart-to-heart talk from the perspective of being a parent and losing your child. And he was very receptive.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
SAVIDGE: And then, on top of that, you had the heartbreak of the Holloway family and then you have the heartbreak of, say, the van der Sloot family, a 17-year-old boy who, like Natalee, honor student, who is loved by so many on this island, now sits in a prison cell charged with suspicion of murder and kidnapping, arrested at 6:00 in the morning on Thursday, the day he was supposed to graduate from high school—Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: Martin, it is a tragic story. Obviously, in America, a lot of people are talking about the possible favoritism that could have been shown to that 17-year-old young man. But is that something that the authorities on the island of Aruba now are very sensitive to and are going to make sure that they play it right down the middle and that, whether they are approaching handling him or whether they‘re talking about these two security guards that were taken into custody soon after Natalee disappeared?
SAVIDGE: Everyone knows about the controversy here. The young man‘s father is not just a prominent official. He‘s a prominent official in the judicial system.
However, the family members and those who are working on this case say it will not help him. In fact, it will probably go against him, as authorities are that much tougher, that much stricter, because they know people are going to be measuring the yardstick by which he is treated—
Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: All right, Martin Savidge, thank you so much for your report. As always, we greatly appreciate it.
And we are going to be talking to that young man‘s mother in just a few minutes.
Now, back in Natalee‘s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, her friends and family have put up a wall of hope that we told you about last night. That is where people in Birmingham and in Mountain Brook go to pray and share stories about Natalee.
Now, relatives are saying that strangers have taken to stopping by the wall and they‘re writing messages for Natalee, very heartfelt. And, as we‘ve said, you know, we are in Aruba. And the search for Natalee continues tonight. You know, we have heard that there have been up to 700 people searching throughout the day. They have been bringing out dogs, divers. You‘ve had tourists. The government in fact last week started allowing government workers to get off to search for Natalee Holloway.
Well, the search has been called off for the night. And one of those people out there searching desperately as anybody else is Natalee‘s aunt, Linda Allison.
Linda, I know it has been a terrible time for you and for the family, very difficult. But we thank you so much for being with us tonight.
What can you tell us about the search today? And what can you tell about Natalee‘s family? How are they holding up tonight?
LINDA ALLISON, AUNT OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: I have actually not been
able to speak with any of the other family members. They are still all out
searching. I
came in for this interview and plan to go back out tonight. Sometimes, we are out very late at night. And we get a few hours rest and then we‘re back out the next day, because our goal, again, is to find Natalee and bring her home.
SCARBOROUGH: Where are you searching now? The search obviously has been going on for 12 days. This is—as we have been telling our viewers, this is an island that is about the size of Wichita, Kansas. Is there any ground left to search there after 12 days?
ALLISON: There are areas of this island I don‘t think people can appreciate until they see this island, that you—normally, in pictures are or on the Internet, you see sandy beaches and resort areas.
But there‘s areas that are very—the terrain is the cacti, the thorns, very difficult to get through. There are mountainous areas. None of the streets, hardly any of the streets have any street names. So, we just have to guess, driving through some of these areas and finding new areas that we haven‘t looked before to search to see if we can find her.
Natalee, yesterday, of course, was the subject of a conversation between her father and the prime minister of Aruba. Did you get any information on that meeting? Obviously, the family wants to find Natalee. What do they think the government can do? What else can the government of Aruba do to help this search move forward to try to find the young woman that you and the family love so much?
ALLISON: I attended that meeting last night, a private meeting with the family.
And the prime minister has given us his word that the Aruba government is making this their number one priority, is to find Natalee. And we have asked for specific things. We have asked for FBI held from help from the United States, specialists, experts in investigation and in the questioning the—how they would go about interrogating these three young men, because these were the three men, or boys, that were last seen with Natalee.
And the family feels that this is the link, that we need to find out from those boys where Natalee is.
SCARBOROUGH: You know, Linda, that was going to be my next question, because if I were in your situation, the main thing I would want from the Aruban government would be to allow the FBI interrogators to get in there, divide up these three boys and keep hammering away at them until I got to the bottom of this story.
How important is that to you? How important is that to Natalee‘s mom and dad, that the FBI run this interrogation and not the Dutch government in Aruba?
ALLISON: Actually, we would like for them to work together, jointly. We feel like the Dutch law, there are areas obviously that are different from our laws in the United States. So, we need their expertise, as well as the FBI, having their expertise in interrogations.
And we feel like that, with them both working together, that we can hopefully resolve this situation.
SCARBOROUGH: You know, Linda, there are so many rumors out there.
And, of course, any time a tragedy like this comes up, you hear rumors.
And, of course, 99.9 percent of the stuff out there you can dismiss.
Tell us about Natalee. What type of young woman was she when she was in high school? What type of young women have you grown up knowing?
ALLISON: I—just the same things that you‘ve been hearing, is that she is just very intelligent, very beautiful, very outgoing young lady.
And my daughter has always been very close to Natalee, as well as another of her cousins in Jonesborough. And we are just all very hopeful that we are going to find Natalee and bring her home.
SCARBOROUGH: All right. Linda, thank you so much for being with us.
Good luck.
ALLISON: Thank you.
SCARBOROUGH: I know you are going back out there this late tonight searching for Natalee. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and also with the entire family and the search squad.
You know, there are so many angles to this story. We just heard from Natalee‘s family. Next, we are going to talk to the mother of the 17-year-old that is being held in this case about what she has to say about this ordeal.
And, also, there is another case of a missing girl in the Caribbean. And we are going to be talking to a mother who can relate all too well with Natalee‘s parents.
Plus, the Jackson jury goes home without reaching a verdict. What does it mean, and why is it taking so long to come down and rule on one side or another for the prince of pop? We will sort that out.
And, also, later, paparazzi doing anything to get that picture. Now police and the stars are starting to work together to try to turn the tables on the photographers. Should we feel sorry for Hollywood stars?
Stick around. SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY is just getting started.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: You know, we have been hearing for the past 11 days about the well-connected judge‘s son in Aruba. Well, tonight, I talk to his mother. We‘ll have that story straight ahead when SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY returns.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: You know, since we first broke this story last week on TV, there has been a great deal of attention about the 17-year-old young man who apparently was with Natalee the night she disappeared. We heard it in fact from police reports that he had been intimate with Natalee on the night she disappeared.
Well, earlier tonight, I spoke to his mother, Anita van der Sloot, and I asked her to tell us about her son.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
VAN DER SLOOT: Joran is a 17-year-old teenager. He is a fantastic tall guy. He‘s a sporter. He plays tennis on the island, soccer, volley ball, softball. He is a boy who will come out of his bed and give his mom a hug. And, hi mom. How are you? Have a nice day. He is a very warm young boy.
SCARBOROUGH: Obviously, the eyes of America and Aruba are on your son and the other men who have been arrested in this case. How is he doing right now through this ordeal?
VAN DER SLOOT: It is really tough. It‘s—I got a chance to talk to him for 10 minutes this morning, 10 minutes only.
He had a very pale white face. He was complaining about a toothache, because we had an appointment at the dentist he couldn‘t go to. And you much understand, he got picked up by the police on the very early morning of his graduation day. So, we were all preparing for him—sorry—to get ready.
I had his robe hanging there. And we would have a nice celebration yesterday night. And, of course, I know it‘s important. The investigation is important. We cooperate totally. Joran is very open. He wants to do anything to help. But that was very tough on him. And that brought up a lot of emotions.
He is very strong, because he says, mom, I‘m—that, I‘m innocent. I know I‘m innocent. I know the truth will come forward or the girl will come forward. And he tries to hang in there. But it is really tough. And we cannot approach him, none of us.
SCARBOROUGH: What has he told you about Natalee?
VAN DER SLOOT: He hasn‘t told me anything, because, on the Monday, he went to school, like any normal boy. And he wasn‘t aware of—he was totally surprised when the police asked him to come to the—or picked him up for interrogation. He was totally surprised. He really thought that the girl would be safe in the hotel and there was no reason to talk about her at all.
SCARBOROUGH: All right, thank you so much, Anita van der Sloot. We greatly appreciate it. I know this has to be a terribly difficult time for you. But we appreciate you coming out and telling us about your son.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
SCARBOROUGH: All right, now let‘s turn to former FBI profiler Candice DeLong.
Candice, let‘s have a little reality check. A lot of people tonight at this late hour are still coming to the island of Aruba. As an FBI investigator, profiler, tell me, what are the chances that she is still alive?
CANDICE DELONG, FORMER FBI PROFILER: Pretty unlikely.
Primarily, I say that because it is an island, not a terribly big one. There‘s only two ways to leave the island, air or by boat. This is a hugely—I‘m sorry. The coverage on this case is huge, international coverage. No pilot of a boat or an airplane has come forward and said, hey, this was my passenger Monday. She paid me to take her out of here. Or, she was with two guys. I took them to Caracas, Venezuela.
No one has come forward to say that. And the two original men that were picked up, the magistrate found 48 hours ago reason enough to hold them on suspicion of kidnapping and possibly murder. So, it certainly is not looking good.
SCARBOROUGH: And, Candice, if you are trying to get to the bottom of this, if you‘re trying to find out exactly what happened, how do you do it? Do you—you obviously want—we would want—if I were the parent, I would want the FBI conducting the interrogations and not the Dutch authorities. But what do you do?
You separate them and then what do you do to get to the bottom of this mystery? Where is Natalee Holloway?
DELONG: Well, in terms of the five men in custody, some of them very young men, admittedly, divide and conquer.
One of them—any time you have got a group, gang mentality working in a crime of interpersonal violence, it certainly was my experience—and I did work cases like this—one of the person in the group was the strong leader. And it was his idea to do whatever it was that was primarily done. And the others went along with it to various degrees.
One person may have just simply been along for the ride and only observed. And he is afraid to say anything. Eventually, the weakest link in the chain is going to be the one to tell the police what happened, as much as he knows, because he is not going to want to be punished or go to prison for the rest of his life for something he didn‘t do or that somebody made him do.
So, this, I think, the fact that there‘s five men that have been brought in, if they are all participants in one way or another of her disappearance, they probably know exactly what happened to her and one of them is going to raise his hand and eventually tell the police exactly what happened.
SCARBOROUGH: You are exactly—you are exactly right, Candice. I mean, the more that are involved, the more I would guess it is easier to divide and conquer. And somebody who had nothing to do, if there is a tragic death here, is not going to want to go to jail for the rest of your life.
Hey, Candice, stay with us, if you will, because I want to bring you back and ask you a follow-up question.
But, right now, I want to talk about one family who understands all too well about the Natalee Holloway story and how it is a painful reminder of their own Caribbean nature tragedy. Seven years ago, while on a cruise with her family, 23-year-old Amy Bradley vanished one morning just as the ship was docking on a Caribbean island. She has not been seen since. Her parents have never given up the search. And tonight, Amy‘s mother, Iva, is with us.
Iva, Iva, I guess this is bringing back a lot of painful memories for you and your family, isn‘t it?
IVA BRADLEY, MOTHER OF MISSING WOMAN: It is very painful.
But nothing has changed for us in the way we feel and the pain that we feel every single day when we open our eyes and we don‘t have Amy. And Amy is still out there. And we are asking anybody who knows anything to contact us. And there is a $260,000 reward. And we believe that somebody saw her, took her.
And when Natalee wasn‘t found in two or three days, my husband and I, we looked at each other. Bottom line, on a clear day, you can see Venezuela. And there are boats that come and go and you don‘t have to pay a fare to put somebody on a boat and drive them over there.
SCARBOROUGH: So, you are afraid, as some FBI profilers and investigators in the past have said to us, you are afraid she may have been kidnapped and taken over to Venezuela.
There was a remarkable story that came out. A Navy sailor went to a brothel in the Caribbean and came back saying that a woman, a young woman in there said: “Please help me. Please help me. I‘m Amy Bradley.”
Can you tell us about that?
BRADLEY: Yes. We were notified by this gentlemen in February of ‘99. And he contacted us after he had seen Amy‘s picture on the front cover of a major magazine.
He went into a brothel. He was in an authorized area. He is a petty officer. You have to understand, he got off of the ship. That is not where they‘re supposed to go and that is where he went. He said he went in and sat down, and he immediately saw an American girl or a white girl in there. And she sat down at the table and she leaned into him and said her name. She said: “I am Amy Bradley. I need your help. Please help me.”
And he didn‘t do anything because he told her to go out the door. She could go to a ship five minutes down the walkway. And she said: “I can‘t do that. I can‘t get out.” She was then motioned away. And he said, as she went to get up from the table, she leaned away to him and put her head down and said: “My name is Amy Bradley. Please help me.”
After he retired, when he saw the article, that is when he contacted us.
SCARBOROUGH: All right, Iva Bradley, thank you so much. We are going to be following this story. And I know this can‘t be easy for you. So, thank you so much for being with us tonight. We greatly appreciate it.
And, also, we are going to be talking to Candice DeLong on the other side of this break.
Plus, a lot of people out there thought the Michael Jackson jury would finish deliberations today, in time for the weekend, but guess again. This case is taking a lot longer than people thought. And what does that mean? Does it mean that Jackson is in trouble? Does it mean there is a hung jury? We will ask our all-star panel straight ahead.
Plus, celebrities are all smiles when they pose for the pictures on the red carpet. When they are getting chased down by out-of-control paparazzi, are their lives on the line? We will talk about that and we‘ll talk about how some celebs are fighting back.
That is when SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY returns.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: Coming up, more on Aruba. Plus, as the Jackson jury
deliberates inside the courthouse, it‘s the scene outside that is
making all the news. We are going to have that. Also, paparazzi gone wild, the new push to crack down on photographers who go too far.
But, first, here is the latest news you need to know.
(NEWS BREAK)
SCARBOROUGH: Let‘s bring back in former FBI profiler Candice DeLong.
Candice, do young American women who act recklessly in the Caribbean or other tropical hot spots risk kidnapping, like Amy and possibly Natalee?
DELONG: Well, I don‘t think being in the Caribbean is any different than being at home, whether home is Lincoln, Nebraska, or Manhattan.
A woman—a young girl, young women, women have to exercise caution in their vacation life, as well as their at-home life.
SCARBOROUGH: Candice, do you think that there is a possibility that Natalee could have been taken to Venezuela, could have been sold into prostitution? Or do you think that is farfetched?
DELONG: I think that is highly farfetched.
Based on everything that we know and the five men in custody and the judge two days ago saying there was enough to hold them over for possible evidence of murder, I think it is probably more likely that she never left the island. Is it possible?
SCARBOROUGH: All right.
DELONG: Yes. Is it probable? No.
SCARBOROUGH: All right, Candice DeLong, thank you so much for being with us tonight. We greatly appreciate it.
DELONG: You‘re welcome, Joe.

On 6-10 AL.com” reported:

Lawyer: Testimony from two suspects describes intimacy with missing teenThe lawyer for one of three new suspects in the case of a missing Mountain Brook teen says police may be holding his client because they’ve run out of leads. “My personal opinion is that these people are desperate because the investigation is not going anywhere,” said David Kock, who is representing Sadish Kalpoe, 18. He, his brother, Deepak, 21, and their friend Joren van der Sloot, 17, were arrested Thursday in connection with the May 30 disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 18. Also arrested were two former security guards who had worked at a hotel near the hotel where Holloway and more than 100 other Mountain Brook teens were staying during their senior trip to the Caribbean island. Police say the two men match the description of someone the other three suspects say they saw when they dropped Holloway off. Kock said his client says the trio left a local club with Holloway at about 1:30 a.m. the night she disappeared. The brothers rode in the front seat, while Holloway and van der Sloot rode in the back seat, he said. Testimony from the two brothers said there was kissing and “touching of intimate parts,” according to Noraina Pietersz, a court-appointed lawyer representing one of two former security guards. She was reading from a statement the brothers gave to police. After stopping at a nearby bar, they drove around the northern end of the island and dropped her at her hotel, Kock said. Kock said he has not seen any evidence to convict his client. “The only thing is that they were last seen together,” he said. Police say they are still investigating. Hannah Wolfson

Murder Suspects’ lawyer: Police out of leads on HollowayThe lawyer for one of three new suspects in the case of a missing Mountain Brook teen says police may be holding his client because they’ve run out of leads. Kock said his client says the trio left a local club with Holloway at about 1:30 a.m. the night she disappeared. After stopping at a nearby bar, they drove around the island and dropped her at her hotel, he said. Kock said he has not seen any evidence to convict his client. “The only thing is that they were last seen together,” he said. Police are also holding two former security guards who match the description of someone the three say they saw when they dropped Holloway off. Police say they are still investigating. Meanwhile, a party of volunteers canceled its daily 10 a.m. search, choosing instead to tie yellow ribbons on trees, signs and even car antennas around the island. Hannah Wolfson

Dutch Teen Questioned in Aruba Disappearance
FRIDAY JUNE 10, 2005 08:00AM EST
By Stephen M. Silverman
In the nearly week-old search for missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, high-school friends who accompanied the honors student on the graduation trip to Aruba say that a Dutch teenager arrested as a suspect in Holloway's disappearance showed up at several places the group visited. This included the bar where the blonde, 5'4" Holloway partied the night she vanished, a family spokeswoman said Thursday, according to the Associated Press.Marcia Twitty, who is Holloway's aunt, said the Aruba-bound former students from Mountain Brook High School recognized the Dutch teen from photos shown by FBI agents in interviews following Holloway's disappearance on May 30."They had seen him around during the trip. He was just a local guy in the bar and the casino where all the kids were just kind of hanging out," she said. The Dutch teen, who is a minor and has not been identified by Aruban authorities, was arrested mid-week along with two 18- and 21-year-old brothers from Surinam as suspects in Holloway's disappearance. Authorities have not said if the three had any connection to the two Aruban men previously held in the case. Those two, arrested last Sunday, have been identified as former hotel security guards Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28,Twitty said relatives hoped the three latest arrests would lead to answers. "These were the last three people to have seen her, to be with her," she said. "They have to know something."

On 6-10 the “AP” reported:

One of three young men who partied with missing Alabama teen admits to killing herBy MICHAEL NORTON Associated PressJune 10, 2005ORANJESTAD, Aruba - One of three young men who took a missing Alabama honors student to the beach confessed that "something bad" happened to the 18-year-old American, police say.Deputy Police Commissioner Gerold Dompig told The Associated Press that one of the men admitted that "something bad has happened he confessed" and was leading police late Friday night to the scene. He refused to identify which young man had made the statement in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, who was in the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba to celebrate her graduation from a Mountain Brook High School, near Birmingham.A 17-year-old Dutch boy and his two Surinamese friends, identified by defense lawyer David Kock as his client, Satish Kalpoe, 18, and his brother, Deepak, 21, had told police they took Holloway to Arashi Beach, on the northern tip of the island, in the early hours of May 30.According to their testimony, they didn't get out of the car. Instead, Holloway and the Dutch teen, an honors student at Aruba International School, "were in the back seat kissing" in an intimate embrace. No one on video? The testimony was reviewed by the court-appointed lawyer for one of two former hotel security guards being held in the case.According to the testimony, they told police that they dropped Holloway at her Holiday Inn Hotel around 2 a.m., and last saw her being approached by a man in a black security guard uniform before they drove off.Holloway disappeared while on a five-day trip with 124 classmates and seven chaperones. Police found her U.S. passport and packed bags in her hotel room. The brothers told police the young woman was drunk and refused to get out of the car when asked to, said Noraina Pietersz, who is representing 30-year-old Nick John, a former security guard arrested Sunday. The three young men said Holloway stumbled in the parking lot of the hotel but refused help from her Dutch escort, Kock told The Associated Press.Kock said the brothers told police they last saw Holloway being approached by a man in a security guard uniform before they drove off.Holiday Inn employees say security cameras did not record Holloway's return. In addition, a Holiday Inn guard who worked the overnight shift the day the young woman disappeared said he did not see the high school graduate, said Pietersz, who said she also reviewed the guard's testimony to police. In Mountain Brook, Alabama, Holloway's aunt, Marcia Twitty, expressed frustration that Aruban authorities initially released the three young men last week after questioning them."These are the last three guys to be with her, and we just feel like they know something," said Twitty, who is serving as the spokeswoman. The criticism came after Holloway's stepfather, George "Jug" Twitty, told the AP the young men told him that Holloway had been flirting with the Dutch student. Police Superintendent Jan van der Straaten said at a news conference that Holloway and the Dutch teen had met two days earlier at the casino of her hotel.John and Abraham Jones, 28, a fellow former security guard, have been detained since Sunday. They are being held in separate locations on suspicion of murder and capital kidnapping, or kidnapping resulting in death, Pietersz said. None of the five has been charged.

On 6-10 the DUTCH news-sourced “Hasibokos” reported:

The Dutch media is reporting on Monday that The Netherlands has sent some experts to the island of Aruba to assist in the ongoing search (investigation).
The Dutch experts arrived at Aruba on Sunday. The local chief of the search team of police in The Netherlands, Jan van der Straten, confirmed this report on Sunday.
Mr. Van der Straten did not go into details about the type of experts that were sent. He only informed that the experts that were sent did not go with search dogs and that they were going to carry out specific detailed operations.
Van der Straten told the press that he was not going to disclose specified information, because this would obviously lead to (justified) assumptions of the direction the investigation is heading in. He said: "I cannot say more, otherwise it will be clear in which direction the investigation is going".

On 6-10 FOX News BILL O’REILLY reported in the “Talking Points Memo” of his international TV show:

Why America cares about Natalee Holloway, that is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."Not since Laci Peterson has there been such interest in a criminal case. We can all picture that happening to us.As you may know, we do not speculate here on "The Factor." We have no idea what happened to Natalee or why she left the bar with some Aruban men. I've heard some irresponsible media speculate about that, and it makes me angry. For now, every American should be praying that Natalee is found alive and that any person who harmed her in any way pays a drastic price.Aruba itself is already paying a price. That island depends on American tourism, and a case like this can't help the tourism industry there. Aruba is basically a benign island, very little violent crime. But according to the DEA, it is a drug transshipment center for the Colombian cartels. That being said, it seems the Aruban authorities are being diligent in investigating what happened to Natalee and are cooperating with the FBI.Now, every American child should be following Natalee's story. That never would have happened 20 years ago.It is every parent's duty to be honest with their children, to warn them about the evils of the world, to advise them of proper behavior. Of course, young people will often ignore that advice and there's nothing to be done about that. But the awful case of Natalee Holloway should be page one in your house and in classrooms all over America. If this could have happened to her, it could happen to any young woman. And that's "The Memo."
