(a Dutch police report quoted later by a Dutch paper said that Aruba Minister of Justice Rudy Croes denied Aruba Prosecutor Karin Janssen's request for expert Dutch help early in the Natalee Holloway investigation)

On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

I did talk a lot with Deepak, Satish and Joran, from the moment they were interviewed as witnesses until they were arrested. We of course read the newspapers, saw the news and talked about it. I also was in almost daily contact with Jan van der STRATEN. I did not doubt the truthfulness of their story for one second. When we talked about the girl, we discussed what could happen if the girl would not re-appear. I was under the impression that the boys assumed that she would re-appear sooner or later. Af course we also discussed what if the girl did not re-appear. From what little information I got from Jan van der STRATEN, I got some hope that the girl was seen after she was dropped off at the Holiday Inn. He did not say this in so many words but I took that as an explanation as to why the boys weren't asked to give further statements to the police. To your question when I had noticed, that boys were asking a lot about what would happen with missing girl would not re-appear or if she would be found dead, what would happen then, whether this did not make me wonder why they were asking this, I can state the following. According to me it was not the boys who brought this up, but I brought this up. I was usually the one who steered the conversation towards the girl. Why did I steer the conversation towards the girl? I did this because I was getting worried. I was getting worried for the girl and also for the boys. Because of the fact that they had been the last to be seen with the girl they would no doubt come back to them. I however did not doubt the validity of their story for one moment. Comment reporting officer: at 20.05 hours the assistent district attorney, inspector first class J.C. SAMBO informed the suspect P.A.P.J. van der SLOOT that he would be held for questioning at the police station in Noord on which the suspect P.A.P.J. van der SLOOT responded that he would resist the incarceration because it was a completely insane and absurd action. Murder Suspect finds it highly questionable that this is only happening to make his son make statements that are beside the truth. Murder Suspect did remark that he is willing to tell us everything he remembers if this somehow gives clarity into the case of Natalee Holloway gone missing, but that this could best be done in the capacity of a witness. To your question whether I spoke to the boys at home on Wednesday June 1st 2005 and about what we talked, I can state the following. I don't exactly remember anymore what days I spoke to the boys. I only know that I talked to the boys a lot. I did not want Joran to be out of the house for as long as the girl was still missing. Because of that a lot of Joran's friends, including Deepak and Satish came over to visit us. We then often talked about the girl. We were following the reports in the newspapers, on the radio and on television. To your question how it happened that I found a lawyer for Joran and the two Kalpoe brothers, I can state the following. Looking at the facts I had to take into consideration that Joran, Deepak and Satish could at some point become suspects. If that was the case I wanted the proces to go as smoothly as possible, in order for them to be released as soon as possible. Again, I still believed their story implicitly. If they already had lawyers no time would be waisted when they were arrested. The lawyer could be there very quickly, so that the questioning could being immediately and no time would be waisted. In reality I was trying to facilitate the process as much as possible. You are telling me that I have stated that I believed the story but still took preparations with regard to a lawyer and I have explained them the entire procedure of being arrested and being detained, why? To this I can say the following. I have previously said that due to the fact that the boys could possibly be the last people who had been seen with the girl, this fact could be sufficient to cause them to be seen as suspects. As said before, I wanted to facilitate this process. Part of that was making sure the boys did not panic because they were unfamiliar with the procedure. I especially wanted to prevent that they would make statements that were untrue. In the situation they found themselves with a police and judicial apparatus that was under enormous pressure that was not unthinkable. To your question why I would think they would panic if they told their story, the one I believed, or whether I had reasons to be suspicious of their story and whether I know more about the case than I, my son Joran, Deepak and Satish did not tell when they made their first witness statements, I can tell you the following. I have told you before that I believed the boys story, that I had no reasons to doubt it, I also did not get any clues that made me doubtful and thus I assumed that the statement they gave to the police were the correct ones. My fear was more in the desire to score of the police force. I was afraid that the boys would be entrapped/tricked into making a statement that was not correct. I have told them on more than one occasion that they should count themselves lucky that they were with the three of them and that the interviews should not be hard because they were telling the truth. To your question as to how good a liar Joran is, I can tell you the following. In the past Joran lied. About money that he had stolen from us. We have talked about this extensively and it was also discussed at the youth psychologist Dr. XXX XXXXXX, with whom he had several talks about his growth into adulthood. I had the feeling he had made a clean breast of it/fresh start. I at least did not assume I had to doubt everything he said. To your question what I now think after it came out that Joran is making untruthful after untruthful statement and what I can state about that, I can state the following. I can not make a judgement about this. What I have understood that Joran is the one who broke open the case. To your question what I mean when I said that Joran broke open the case, I can state the following. Joran's lawyer has told me that it was Joran who changed his statement. Because of that the case is now broken open and now the truth can come out.

10:00 PM = according to “Blogs For Natalee” Identity “GrannyToad,” any ARUBA Police surveillance of a person(s) suspected of a crime(s) must cease at 10:00 PM.

From Dave Holloway:"In late August the Diario received a recorded phone tip from a woman who said that a Police Officer named Halle took a body from the sand dunes prior to the search on June 3, 2005.She said that Halle was a crooked cop and was friends with Paulus van der sloot. I turned that tape over to the Police and the Dutch."
On September 19, 2005 ARUBAN Police Commissioner STANLEY ZAANDAM was quoted in the ARUBAAN's news-source “Bon Dia” stating, "the body of Natalee Holloway may have already been found and CVP (Police Commissioner) looked the other way to do a favor for Paul van der Sloot. To exculpate the son of Paul, the CVP and fiscal Chief Prosecutor Karin Janssen made the false arrest of two ex-security guards, Jones and John, called this a ‘tactical maneuver’ and denied them their freedom another 10 days."

On 6-3 the following statement was transcribed that was given by LEE BROUGHTON to the FBI on June 1, 2005:

FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIONDate of transcription 06/03/2005LEE ASHFORD BROUGHTON, date of birth, October 2, 1986, home address XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, was interviewed at the Birmingham FBI Office. Also, sometime soon after NATALEE vanished, Former Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT obtained a lawyer for Current Murder Suspect FREDDY ZEDAN, one of Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s best friends.
2:45 PM = According to Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT ’s June 14, 2005 statements he gave ARUBAN Police Interrogators his school day normally ended at 2:45 PM
On June 23, 2005 Current Murder Suspect PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

To your question whether I picked up Joran during the period between May 30th 2005 and June 9th 2005, I can state the following. It is possible but I cannot remember whether I did. I did pick up Joran from school from time to time but whether it was in that time-period I cannot remember.

4:30 PM = During his June 13, 2005 statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE stated:

On Friday two weeks ago [6-3; my insertion] he had arainged a lawyer for us. That same afternoon approximately 16.30 hours, I had gone with my brother Satish to Joran's house. My mother had also come to Joran's house during her break from work. When my mother arrived, my mother and Joran's dad met for the first time and we went and sat down on the porch. My mother wanted to hear the story from Joran himself before she would believe our story. Joran then told the story about the Holiday Inn. Then Joran's father said to us that the situation could get better but also worse. Joran's father had asked my mother if we had an attorney. My mother said no, because we have never had any problems on Aruba. Joran's father said, wait I will find one for you and went in to get his hand-bag/briefcase. About a minute later he returned with his hand-bag/briefcase. He opened it and took out a piece of paper with several names on it. . Then Joran asked me if I wanted something to drink. I said yes. Joran and Satish got up and went and got something to drink. The father said to us that Oomen was a good lawyer and he picked up his mobile phone and called Oomen. Joran's father briefly spoke to Oomen and they had made an appointment for the next day, to be exact Saturday at 11.00 hours,. The father handed the phone to my mother and my mother had talked to Oomen.

__:__ PM or AM (?) on an unspecified date that was not June 1, 2005 = On 6-24 Current Murder Suspect SATISH KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

Also I can explain that there was a time that when I was with my brother Deepak and Joran and his father was also there, Joran said “if a body is found that we are in big trouble”. My brother and I said to Joran that is impossible because we had done nothing. Joran said then laughing, “Yes, yes you are right”.

On 6-3 the BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA “Birmingham Post Herald” reported:

Aruba police fear worst in Mtn. Brook girl case June 3, 2005From Staff and Press Reports ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Natalee Holloway spent the last night of a holiday to celebrate graduation from her Alabama high school eating and dancing at a nightclub with school chums and locals on the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba — then disappeared. Four days later, police scouring outlying scrubland with helicopters and all-terrain vehicles fear the worst. "Today, we are more and more thinking about the possibility of a crime," said police Superintendent Jan van der Straten. But a family member said today they are still hopeful the teen will be found alive. Marcia Twitty, Holloway's aunt, said she talked to Holloway's parents this morning for 30 minutes and was told that search is expected to intensify today. "They sounded tired but they are working relentlessly," she said. "We're going to find her. We're still keeping the hope alive." On the island remarkable for its absence of violent crime, hundreds of residents and tourists posted fliers to help the hunt led by Aruba police and Dutch military aided by FBI agents. "Everybody has been quite supportive," the teenager's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty said. "I am not leaving. I am going to have Natalee with me." Holloway, 18, came to Aruba for a five-day excursion with 124 seniors and 40 chaperons from Mountain Brook High School. She was last seen around 2 a.m. Monday, Attorney-General Caren Janssen said. Police discount the possibility she left the island, because they found her passport in her hotel room, van der Straten said. Hopes were lifted briefly just before midnight Thursday when a news photographer called police to say he had seen Holloway on the west side of the island. Police rushed to the scene but found a local island girl who fit the description but had brown hair, not Holloway's long blonde tresses. Dressed in the same blue and green striped low-cut blouse and jean miniskirt that she wore at the beach earlier in the day, Holloway spent Sunday evening partying at Carlos ÃN Charlie's, a popular restaurant and dance spot where tourists and locals meet in the capital, Oranjestad. She left 10 minutes before the place closed at 1 a.m., said the restaurant's master of ceremonies Jose Hernandez, 38. "Sunday is the quietest night of the week," said Hernandez, who remembers Holloway having fun with her friends. "Nothing was out of the ordinary," he said. Friends saw her getting into a vehicle outside the nightclub. Police questioned and released three Aruban students who said they dropped Holloway off early Monday at the Holiday Inn where she had been staying, about 3 miles (5 kilometers) from Oranjestad, said police assistant inspector Jules Sambo. The three were not suspects, he said. "We don't have any indication as to if she is alive," Sambo said. "The whole population is aware that she is missing. The police are doing everything to find her." Holloway did not show up to catch her flight later Monday. Since then the island has been turned topsy-turvy, in search of her. Nothing in Holloway's personality seemed likely to lead to trouble. The duty manager at the Holiday Inn spoke to Holloway's friends the day she disappeared. They said she was "a nice, friendly girl, who likes to party, and who has a very good relationship with her very loving family," said Brenda James, 42. Several family members arrived the day after she disappeared and Holloway Twitty, who is from Mountain Brook, and the teenager's father, David Holloway of Meridian, Mississippi, appeared on television Thursday night to appeal to residents for information. Her stepmother, Robin Holloway, said Natalee was last seen with a local resident who claimed to be a foreign exchange student. Janssen declined to elaborate, in the interest of the investigation. "Aruba is a happy island and a safe island," he said. "We're looking everywhere." Last year, there was one murder and six rapes, this year two murders and three rapes on the island of 72,000 off the coast of Venezuela. But all the rapes were committed by local men on local women. The two murders involved drug addicts who died in knife fights.

First day of final exams of the “International School of Aruba” according to http://www.isaruba.com/breeze/documents/BreezeApril292005.pdf
On December 5, 2005 BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY stated to MSNBC “We gave them [the Main Murder Suspects] 10 days. We gave them 10 days to clean up their story, clean up the mess, to lawyer up. We gave them 10 days too long, Jane. That‘s exactly what happened.” “Remember, within the first 24 hours, we knew who the suspects were. We knew the persons that Natalee were taken from Carlos and Charlie‘s. We knew the license plate of the gray Honda they placed her in. We knew the condition that Natalee was in. We knew the behavior or the conduct in which they engaged in with Natalee. And then not only that, Jane, within 72 hours (by 6-3), we knew that their first story was totally fabricated, that within the first 72 hours, I faced a room of 12 — at least 12 detectives, Aruban and Dutch detectives, and a lead detective, Dennis Jacobs, and they knew after we reviewed video footage from the "Holiday Inn" casino lobby that my daughter had never been brought back to the "Holiday Inn." They knew that those suspects were fabricating a story from day one.” “Something that the family knew—and we have to keep reminding everyone--after 72 hours---72 hours---we knew definitively that these suspects were not telling the truth. We knew that my daughter had never been brought back to the "Holiday Inn." Of course we were becoming frustrated. Who wouldn‘t, at this point? You know, we—and what was so unbelievable about this, is they knew this information and, still, chose to pursue the two security guards on June the 5th.” “I‘ve been hearing about possible new arrests or persons of interest being questioned through the media. So it would be nice to be getting that from Deputy Dompig or Karin Janssen herself.”
On June 16, 2005 SANDER GOTTENBOS gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:
(Thank You and Hat Tip to the “Scared Monkeys blog" and “Debbie”)

On your question what did Joran tell me concerning what happened with the missing girl, I can explain to you the following: Joran told me that he met the girl in the "Excelsior casino" in the "Holiday Inn hotel". He said that he had met the girl during gambling at the tables in the casino. He said that the girl had lost an amount of US 350 = during gambling. Joran had helped her win a part of the aforementioned amount. This was an amount of US 175 = Joran said that the girl wanted him to go to "Carlos & Charlies". Joran had called Haime (Jaime). Haime is a friend of ours. Haime lives in the hamlet Alto Vista. Haime could not go because he had to work. Next Joran called Deepak and Satish. Joran told them about the girl at "Excelsior Casino he had picked up". They drove in Deepak’s car to "Carlos & Charlies". They went to Carlos & Charlies and saw the girl dance on the podium. He further told me that they drank "jello shots". I cannot remember if Joran told me how they left Carlos & Charlies. Joran explained further that Natalee wanted to see the sharks at the "Light house". Joran said he told Natalee there were no sharks. Joran said that they drove in the direction the "Lighthouse" and that the girl in the neighborhood of Arashi fell asleep. Joran said they turned around at the “Lighthouse” and turned back towards the Holiday Inn. Joran said that They, Deepak and Satish and him turned off near the “Holiday Inn Hotel” and left the little girl. Joran told me they left her behind the lobby. Joran had told me this tale after the Police force had spoken with him. I do not think that it was on Wednesday, [Wednesday was June 2, 2005; after would be June 3, 2005 or later] I am not exactly sure.

And we understand, according to some of our sources there, that they have been called back for a second interview” and “I think they're kind of keeping it close to the vest, though I can tell you this. I was monitoring a conversation not long ago with a lieutenant who is in charge of one of the investigations there in Aruba. And he said, and I'm going to quote him now, that he expected there could be arrests soon. And then he said that they expected to have some more news tomorrow.”
On 6-3 SAMBO stated the Police questioned and released three ARUBAN classmates who said they dropped HOLLOWAY off early Monday at the "Holiday Inn" “The three were not suspects” and “We don't have any indication as to if she is alive," Sambo said. "The whole population is aware that she is missing. The Police are doing everything to find her."
On 6-3 the “AP” reported, “Authorities on the island of Aruba say they don’t need any more help from the F.B.I. than it’s already providing in the search for a missing 18-year-old Alabama girl.”
12 F.B.I. agents originally went to ARUBA about 6-3 at the request of DUTCH officials (2 of them were diver-qualified). Search dogs were obtained by the UNITED STATES F.B.I. from the Miami Metro-Dade Police Department to assist in the search. ARUBA granted the UNITED STATES F.B.I. agents an observatory role only, and both the UNITED STATES F.B.I. and ARUBAN authorities have repeatedly said the UNITED STATES F.B.I. does not have jurisdiction to direct the searches or investigation. The UNITED STATES F.B.I. Agents assisting the ARUBAN Investigators were allowed to observe, but not participate in the actual interviews and interrogations. The TWITTY’s have stated that the UNITED STATES F.B.I. was briefing them almost daily.
On 6-3 ZEOLLA told CNN, “Well, we've been working with them from the very beginning, really at their beck and call, not to interfere with them or their family, because obviously it's an extremely difficult time for them, but for them to understand that we're there to support them in any way that we can. And what we have done is, we have taken fliers, and we have canvassed the entire island at this point, and have spent, since Wednesday, going down, and talking to people, and just trying to find anybody who might have seen Natalee that's afraid to come forward, and to pass that information back to the Police so that they might be able to act on it.”
On August 1, 2005 An Aruban Police spokesman said the landfill on the east side of the island near San Nicolas was searched after Holloway's May 30 disappearance based on a tip. Nothing was found then.

Prime Minister ODUBER Statement Regarding Natalee Holloway
Updated: June 3, 2005
Good afternoon.
On behalf of the government and people of Aruba, I would like to first and foremost pledge our full support and utmost dedication to the family of Natalee Holloway. We are behind the search effort and doing all we can to assist the local and international authorities.
We are shocked and completely distressed at this turn of events. Aruba’s Police force and international authorities are doing everything in their power to find Natalee.
A thorough investigation is underway with the support of both local and international authorities. Hundreds of concerned Aruban citizens have also joined search efforts along with Americans residing on island and tourists. The massive island-wide search is taking place both on land and sea. Aruba Search and Rescue Teams, Dutch Marines, and Coast Guard, who have provided helicopters to assist the investigation from the air, are also aiding in efforts.
The government of Aruba has always made the safety and well being of our visitors a top priority. Learning the news of Natalee’s disappearance on our island left us all in a state of shock and disbelief.
Aruba has very strong ties to the United States, over half a million visitors came from the USA last year. We will not tolerate any activities that harm our American friends or tarnishes Aruba’s reputation.
We are blessed to be an island with very low crime rate and are grateful that the coverage of this incident thus far has reflected that. But again, right now the only thing that is important is bringing Natalee home to her family.
I know I speak for us all when I say the heart of the Aruban community is with the family and friends of Natalee during this difficult time. The outpouring of community support has been overwhelming and I do not expect that to stop until we have answers.
My request to the people of Aruba is to continue to provide tips, regardless of how small the information might seem, to the Police. You do not have to provide your name. Please call 587 6222 with any and all leads.
Most important, we must all keep Natalee and her family in our thoughts and prayers.

On March 23, 2006 FOX News GRETA VAN SUSTEREN stated, “I have an F.B.I. 302 form — the F.B.I. would probably have a stroke if they know that we got these. But it says in an interview with one of her friends on June 3, her friend, Lee (ph), and she says, "During the early morning hours, they were drinking alcohol, something called red fires." I've got another 302 of an interview done on June 2 with Catherine Whatley (ph), another friend, and says Holloway was drinking red fires, which had 151 in them. That's talking about Sunday night. There's no question there was alcohol, but she didn't deserve to die because she was drinking.”

On 6-3 CNNHN reported:

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Tonight, a beautiful teenager on her senior trip destination, Aruba, vanishes into thin air. The search intensifies tonight, including helicopter searches of Aruba’s rocky shores and known drug houses.

And Aruba Police and the FBI working around the clock continue to scour beaches and scrub land for 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. This beautiful Alabama girl vanished from her senior trip. Tonight, in Birmingham, Alabama, CNN correspondent Rick Sanchez; with us by phone from Aruba, Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway-Twitty; also on the phone from Aruba, the president of the International Friends of Aruba, Maschelle Zeolla -- that’s the group in charge of the search for Natalee; also with us, from L.A., defense attorney Debra Opri; in New York, defense lawyer Bruce Koffsky (ph); in L.A., psychoanalyst Bethany Marshall. But first, to Birmingham, Alabama, and WBRC reporter Tiffany Bittner. Welcome, Tiffany, bring me up-to-date, friend. TIFFANY BITTNER, WBRC REPORTER: Well, what we know so far is Natalee Holloway has been missing since Monday morning around 1:30 a.m. She was last seen leaving a nightclub in Aruba and has not been seen since. It’s believed that she was leaving the club with three men. No word on that yet. But five days later, the search continues in Aruba, in the island there, as both locals and visitors alike join in to help search for 18- year-old Natalee Holloway. GRACE: We have established our link with Natalee’s mother now. Beth Holloway-Twitty is with us. Thank you for being with us, Ms Twitty. BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, MISSING GIRL'S MOTHER: Well, please, I want to thank you for allowing me this opportunity. And thank you so much. GRACE: Yes, ma'am. I’m showing a photo of you and your daughter right now. She is absolutely gorgeous. Ms. Twitty, when did you go down to Aruba to start the search for your girl? TWITTY: We flew in about 11:00 p.m. on May the 30th. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, is there any way Natalee went of on her own? TWITTY: Oh, absolutely not. Natalee’s bags were packed and ready to go. Natalee is ready to go home. Everything was packed. Her passport was in her purse. She even had the remaining cash that she had on her in her purse. It was in the room. Everything was zipped up. She was ready to go home. GRACE: I was going to ask you, what did they find in the hotel room to suggest to me whether she had left? If her identification and her pocketbook, say her cell phone, her passport, was all in her room, it sounds like she was packed up and ready to go. TWITTY: She was ready. Natalee is ready to go home. The only thing that she has on her is her driver’s license. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, where do you think Natalee is? TWITTY: You know that everyone in the United States and everyone in Aruba, we wish we knew. We wish we knew. GRACE: Tell me about Natalee. I see pictures of her. I feel like I’ve gotten to know her. I know she’s an honor student. I know she had a full scholarship to University of Alabama. She looks like a beauty queen. Tell me about her. Has she ever left home and not come back for overnight before? TWITTY: Oh, absolutely not. Natalee has an impeccable record. She is truly the most amazing young 18-year-old girl that I know. And you are exactly right. Natalee’s National Honor Society and several other honor societies. She was in so many extracurricular activities. Natalee’s on the dance team for four years, was extremely focused and driven. And she was on her way. She was college-bound, you know? It’s just - - Natalee has a lot of things that she’s ready to do. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, are the local Police helping you as you see fit down there? I know you want more U.S. help. Tell me what’s going on down there. TWITTY: Well, yes, we are working with the Aruban government. And I want to say they have -- the citizens of Aruba have been so supportive. And we have been overwhelmed. There are probably 125,000 residents here. And 124,000 of them, they know who Natalee Holloway is. So that’s just -- that’s huge, I think. GRACE: Ms. Twitty...TWITTY: And they all want to find her. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, could you tell me about the search? What are they doing to find your girl? TWITTY: Well, they’re doing several things. I mean, fliers, like I said, you cannot go to an individual in Aruba -- and they don’t need a flier. They already have a flier. So they have been distributed. The governor had called for the Dutch marines to organize a thorough search of the island. They’ve had helicopters searches. They’ve called in diving teams. I mean, we are looking for Natalee just everywhere. I’m confident, though, that we will find Natalee and that we will bring her home safe. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, that night, I understand, there were about 125 to 150 students that went on the trip? TWITTY: Yes, you’re right. GRACE: And about 40 -- did I get that right -- about 40 chaperones and relatives? TWITTY: I really don’t have any, you know, information that would be pertinent about that. And I just really want to focus on that, from that time when Natalee left Carlos and Charlie’s at 1:30, she has simply vanished. And our efforts -- we just want to concentrate all our efforts on staying focused and staying focused on finding Natalee. GRACE: Well, my point, Ms. Twitty, was it seems to me that there were a lot of chaperones. This was not some lark that was poorly planned. There were her high school friends there with her at Carlos and Charlie’s that night. It’s not like she had gone off on her own. It seems like she was following all the rules that you try to tell your kids to follow. TWITTY: Oh, absolutely, absolutely. That’s why, you know, this is such a mystery. It’s a mystery to Aruba, and it’s a mystery to the United States. So we just -- we will find her. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, what are you doing to find your girl? I know one night, my mom visited me here in New York. I left her at the corner. I went across the street to get coffee and doughnuts. I came back, and she was gone. I called 911. I was literally running up and down the streets trying to find her. I was in the back of a Police car trying to find her. Well, of course, we found her. She was on the wrong floor of my apartment building. But it was a period of hours I will never forget. Now, what are you doing to find Natalee? TWITTY: We have not stopped. When our plane landed at 11:00 p.m. on the 30th, I know I did not stop to eat, drink -- I may have had a little bit of water or sleep for at least 48 hours. I was so focused, and driven, and still am. I have been nonstop. GRACE: We’re showing pictures now of Natalee. It looks like she’s in the dance corps holding a flag. Was she a flag girl? TWITTY: She was a member, like I said earlier, of a dance team for four years at her high school... (CROSSTALK) GRACE: Just beautiful. Ms. Twitty, I understand the reward is up to $50,000 -- is that correct -- for information on your girl, Natalee? TWITTY: Well, I really can’t comment on that. I’ve got someone else in charge of keeping up with that. GRACE: Well, I will announce it for you. I’m hearing it in my ear from my producer, Elizabeth, the reward has climbed now to $50,000 for information on this girl. We’re also showing you a toll-free number. The number in Aruba -- Elizabeth, is that 011-297-111-41? Ms. Twitty, what can we do for you tonight? TWITTY: You know, I think the most that everyone can do is just to continue with the support, continue with Natalee in your prayers, and, you know, be as positive as we can, and just pray for the safe, fast return of Natalee. GRACE: Ms. Twitty, we will do just that. TWITTY: OK. Thank you so much. GRACE: No, ma'am, thank you for you. Our prayers and thoughts, not just of myself and the crew, but everybody watching tonight go out to you. Beth Holloway-Twitty, this is Natalee’s mother joining us from Aruba. Thank you, ma'am.TWITTY: Thank you.GRACE: Everybody, we will all be back with all of the latest, including the search, what direction it is turning, the latest from Aruba, and the reward. Please stay with us. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) TWITTY: This was her senior trip. There were 150 American students here from Mountain Brook, Alabama. Something I’d like to comment on. Natalee’s hair is blond and straight, but here it might be curly. It could be curly; it could be straight. She’s approximately 5'5". She weighs about 110 pounds. She has blue eyes, and she’s very petite, very petite. (END VIDEO CLIP) (COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) TWITTY: We are here today to ask the Aruban and Dutch governments to officially invite the United States government to participate in the investigation. The additional resources can only help in finding Natalee. And in closing, we want to thank everyone again. And on behalf of Natalee, please, please make that one phone call so that we can return Natalee home. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: Can you imagine finding yourself in another country on an island looking for your little girl? This little girl, Natalee Holloway, went away on her senior trip. She has never been seen again. She vanished. Welcome back, everybody. We are going to take you live to Aruba and the latest on the search. But first, let me go to Tiffany Bittner, WBRC reporter. Tiffany, again, could you explain how the search has changed? What are they doing now? What’s the new phase of the search for this girl? BITTNER: Well, what we’ve heard so far, according to her uncle, as of yesterday, that they have started searching in some of the surrounding water around the island. Today, of course, many more locals and visitors that are on the island, that are pitching in to help search for Natalee, looking high and low. So at this point, it’s just a matter of time to see if and when they can find any detail that can lead them to Natalee. GRACE: To Rick Sanchez, CNN correspondent. Rick, what can you tell us about these three guys that were seen with Natalee leaving the nightclub? RICK SANCHEZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT: At this point, it’s really about trying to match faces with names and then find them. And it’s a small island, so it’s not hard to find some of those people, Nancy. But let me tell you what some of the students and some of the parents that I’ve talked to here have told me. There is a Web site for Carlos and Charlie’s. And on that Web site, when students go down there, they take their pictures while they’re on the dance floor partying and having a good time, as kids are apt to do. And in those pictures, some of these students said they were able to identify some of the young men that they saw dancing or hanging around with Natalee. They have, as far as I understand, made authorities aware of those young men. And authorities are now trying to match those faces, those young men, those pictures on that particular Web site with some of the officials on the island. We do understand, as you mentioned, that there were three people that they talked to. And those three individuals are on the island. They were spoken to once by officials -- interviewed. And we understand, according to some of our sources there, that they have been called back for a second interview. Exactly what’s come of it, we don’t know at this point. GRACE: A second interview. Rick Sanchez, have they been called -- have they been considered persons of interest? SANCHEZ: At this point, you know, when it comes to legal terms, Nancy, whether they’re focuses of the investigation, targets of the investigation, or persons of interest, we’re not sure. I think they’re kind of keeping it close to the vest, though I can tell you this. I was monitoring a conversation not long ago with a lieutenant who is in charge of one of the investigations there in Aruba. And he said, and I’m going to quote him now, that he expected there could be arrests soon. And then he said that they expected to have some more news tomorrow. Whether that means that they’re going to have arrests to announce tomorrow, I don’t know. But he did use those two words in conjunction. GRACE: Rick, arrests for what? SANCHEZ: We don’t know. We don’t know. It was left at that. That’s what the lieutenant said. There has been word coming out of there throughout the day that they wanted to do something regarding some of the people on the island who they think came in contact with Natalee. Now, we don’t know if they’re speaking specifically about the three young men who were last seen with her or perhaps some other people who may have been seen with her that night. GRACE: Let me go to the president of the International Friends of Aruba. Joining us from Aruba, Maschelle Zeolla.Ms. Zeolla, thank you for being with us. What exactly is your group doing to find this girl? MASCHELLE ZEOLLA, LEADING SEARCH FOR MISSING TEEN: Well, we’ve been working with them from the very beginning, really at their beck and call, not to interfere with them or their family, because obviously it’s an extremely difficult time for them, but for them to understand that we’re there to support them in any way that we can. And what we have done is, we have taken fliers, and we have canvassed the entire island at this point, and have spent, since Wednesday, going down, and talking to people, and just trying to find anybody who might have seen Natalee that’s afraid to come forward, and to pass that information back to the Police so that they might be able to act on it. GRACE: Let me go back to Rick Sanchez, CNN correspondent. Rick, if you look at what we know tonight, your information is, a lieutenant has told you that there could be arrests tomorrow, correct? SANCHEZ: It was not a conversation that was related directly to me. It was a conversation that took place after my story ran on CNN tonight. GRACE: Right, OK.SANCHEZ: And in that interview, the lieutenant specifically said -- or mentioned the word "arrests" possible soon. He then mentioned that tomorrow they expected to make some type of announcement. Those were his words. GRACE: Got you. SANCHEZ: I don’t know exactly how far I can go with that at this point. GRACE: Right. OK, Rick, my point is, if a lieutenant is mentioning arrests in the plural, and we know that divers are currently looking in the water, and helicopters are surrounding the island looking in the water, that does not sound good. SANCHEZ: Well, we know the FBI is there. And we know, as you have experienced, as well, Nancy, working on these types of prosecutions, that oftentimes they’ll go there and they’ve just got to track things back. They’ve got to work backwards and find out who she was with, who she spoke to, where that person is, and interview them. And on an island as small as Aruba...GRACE: Yes, show a picture of the island, Elizabeth. He’s right. The island is only 19.6 miles long, six miles across. There you see exactly where the "Holiday Inn" is and Carlos and Charlie’s where she was last seen. Very quickly, before we go to break, to Tiffany Bittner with WBRC-TV. Tiffany, there is the possibility that the waters are being searched because she may have left the island. Someone could have taken her off the island by boat. But that certainly narrows who would have taken her, who has a boat to take her off the island. BITTNER: Of course, that is one possibility. But I have to say that her family, of course, is staying optimistic and hoping, of course, that is not going to be the case. And they’re looking for anybody and anyone that can help them find out where their young 18-year-old daughter is. GRACE: We are staying with the story. Before we take you out to Santa Maria, California and the Jackson trial, we’ll be back in Aruba when we come back from this break. Please stay with us.But very quickly, to "Trial Tracking." Tonight, a family pleads for your help. Briana Matelyn (ph), 17-years-old, missing over a year. Briana left home then went waiting tables at her job at the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, Vermont. She never made it back.Briana's family tonight doubles the reward to $20,000 for info on their girl. If you know anything about Briana Matelyn, please contact the Vermont state Police, 802-524-5993. (COMMERCIAL BREAK)(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) RUTH MCVAY, FRIEND OF TEEN MISSING IN ARUBA: She’s the most responsible, smart, beautiful, incredible friend that I’ve ever known. This is out of her character. And all we want to stress is that it’s of the utmost importance to pray as much as you can because she is such a wonderful person, and we know she’s coming back. (END VIDEO CLIP) GRACE: Natalee Holloway on her senior trip disappeared from the island of Aruba. Honor student, full scholarship to University of Alabama coming up. She would be heading there in the fall. Welcome back, everybody. I’m Nancy Grace. We’re about to take you out to Santa Maria and the latest in the Michael Jackson trial, but I just want to stick with this story for just a little bit longer. Back down to CNN correspondent Rick Sanchez. Rick, according to the A.P. wires, not only has law enforcement now started circling the island with helicopters looking at the water, they are also looking, as they said, in known crack houses. Have you heard that? SANCHEZ: You know, what’s interesting -- no, we have not. But we can tell you that it’s an island that’s usually known for having very little crime. Three murders in the last three years, something like 12 sexual assaults in total. So it’s not a place that’s rampant for crime. Whether there is some drug activity there, I’m not sure. But it certainly wouldn’t surprise me, given its proximity to both Colombia and Venezuela. GRACE: And back to Tiffany Bittner with WBRC-TV. How many family members are now down in Aruba trying to find Natalee? BITTNER: I’m sorry, I missed your question. GRACE: How many family members are now down there trying to find Natalee? BITTNER: Well, we know, of course, her mother, who you just both with, Beth, is down there, along with her stepfather and her biological father, who is from Mississippi. We know that all three are those relatives are down there, as well as her uncle. As far as other family, I’m not sure. We do understand that there is a group of people that are not only just family members, but friends of hers that are down there with her. I wanted to share with you a little bit, Nancy, about what’s going on here in Birmingham with her friends and family. Of course, they are remaining steadfast and praying for NATALEE’s safe return, holding yet another prayer vigil today. Now, speaking with her aunt Marsha Twitty, who was in Birmingham. She’s become the family spokesperson here. She says, of course, today she was sort of defending NATALEE’s character, if you will, saying that this is nothing unusual for her niece to go on her senior trip, that their family are, quote, "normal people." And she echoed what her mom told you earlier, that Natalee, of course, is an intelligent girl, she is responsible, and this is totally unlike her character. GRACE: Tiffany, thank you so much for being with us. Also, thank you to Rick Sanchez, CNN correspondent. Hopes out tonight for Natalee Holloway.

Judson hears Twitty's story of faith journey
After several days of no food or sleep in Aruba in June 2005, Beth Holloway Twitty mother of missing Mountain Brook-teen Natalee Holloway hailed a cab and said, "Just take me to a church."
The driver stopped about a mile from a church on a hill at the first of several white crosses leading up to the church.
Twitty got out and dropped to her knees in the gravel before the cross, begging for her daughter's life or an answer for the pain. She did this at each cross and finally at the sixth got her answer, she said.
"It was a complete and overwhelming peace. I knew wherever Natalee was, God had her wrapped in His arms."
At Judson College's first chapel service of the year Aug. 30, Twitty shared the story of how her faith has brought her comfort during the painful experience of her daughter's disappearance during a senior trip to the island last year.
It was a year ago that Natalee should have been starting school like the Judson students, Twitty said, so it was special for her to get to speak.
"And it's meaningful for the young women at Judson to hear Beth Holloway Twitty's story of the peace that's found in God in the midst of pain," said Judson President David Potts.

6-4-05
An ARUBAN online newspaper, “A. M. Digital,” hosted at Aruba.com reported 6-4 that the three men involved in the Natalee Holloway disappearance claimed to have had sexual relations with the 18-year-old Alabama high school senior at the beach prior to returning her to her hotel at approximately 2 AM. New reports have clarified the identities of the three young men last seen with NATALEE, and they are now being called "persons of interest" in the case for the first time.

Embracing Hope
Beth Holloway Twitty speaks at Judson CollegeBy Cassandra Mickens
The Selma Times-JournalMARION - It's been more than a year since Beth Holloway Twitty last saw her daughter Natalee, who vanished during a post-high school graduation trip to Aruba in May 2005.
Standing before students, faculty and guests in Judson College's Ramsay-McCrummen Chapel Wednesday morning, Twitty and close family friend Donna Greene spoke of their unwavering faith in God and their hope in finding answers regarding Natalee's disappearance."There's really no way to describe the way I felt," recalled Twitty, who shared personal anecdotes with the audience. "For the first 118 hours when I was in Aruba, I didn't eat, I didn't sleep and I didn't bathe. I was just focused on finding Natalee."Searching for answers and strength from her God, Twitty left her Aruba hotel just before dawn and hailed a cab. She asked the driver to take her to a church or chapel.Traveling down a narrow road to a chapel on a hillside overlooking the sea, Twitty noticed a "beautiful, large white crosses along the way.""As (the driver) approached the first cross, he pulled over. He asked me to get out of the cab and I made my way to the chapel," Twitty said."So I walked over to the first cross and clutching Natalee's picture I fell to my knees and I prayed harder than I'd ever prayed and I prayed louder and I was crying as I took the gravel from the Aruban soil and rubbed it against her picture and I just begged God to give her back.""And I got up and made my way to next cross. And the next one. And the next one..."As the cab driver slowly crept behind her, Twitty repeated her prayer at each cross along the road. When she approached the sixth cross, Twitty received an answer to her prayers. "The answer came in the form of a complete and overwhelming peace and the burden of not being able to provide or care for Natalee was lifted from my shoulders and I truly felt the weight lift," she said."In that instant, I knew Natalee was with God and I realized as soon as she got into the car with her abductors that the Heavenly Father wrapped his arms around her and carried her through whatever ordeal she encountered that night.""And I thought about Natalee's personal relationship with her God and she knew him very well."Greene, who was Natalee's bible study teacher, described the Mountain Brook teen as "compassionate, all inclusive and a person of excellence." Startled by the news of Natalee's disappearance, Greene was eased by a comforting thought."Natalee Holloway not only knows the Lord, she knows how to call upon Him," she said.…

On October 15, 2006 The "Crystal Cathedral Ministries 'Hour of Power'" reported:

…REVEREND ROBERT H. SCHULLER Sr.: Well I know they’ll do what they can. The Prime Minister has been here, he’s a dear friend of mine, and the power people in the country watch this every Sunday morning. They are very strong supporters of our positive approach here. Tell me, you had an experience at a little church? I think it was a Catholic church, tell us about that? It’s very beautiful.BETH HOLLOWAY-TWITTY: Well, that first week we were in Aruba searching was very difficult. And, I just can’t even describe what we were going through blindly navigating a foreign country. I think that I had been awake for so many days and nights that they were blending together. And it was about the fifth morning when I knew that I could not make it anymore. And I think when you are in a situation like I was, I was fortunate to be able to draw upon my foundation of faith. My mother, who’s here with us today, had three words that she raised us with...“God is good.” And I knew what I had to do. I knew that I needed to seek Him out. I’d been praying, but I knew I needed to pray harder and louder, and I made my way...a cab driver picked me up 5 AM that morning, and he took me on a gravel road. As he was slowing down, I noticed there was a line of beautiful large white crosses. And he pulled over and he asked me to get out of the cab, and I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. As I was approaching the first cross, I stood there for just a moment. Then I fell to my knees clenching a photo of Natalee and just begging God to give her back. And I got up and I made my way to the next cross, and the next one, and the next one, and I repeated the same plea.RHS: On your knees?BT: On my knees, taking the ground from Aruba and rubbing it across her picture, begging God to give her back. And when I got to about the sixth cross, I received an answer from God, and it came in the form of a complete and overwhelming peace. The burden that I was carrying not being able to provide or care for Natalee was truly lifted from my shoulders. And I truly felt the weight lift at that moment, and in that instant I knew that God is with Natalee. And so I think at that point, at that sixth cross in the early morning hours that day, I think I came to an acceptance (trust is how I looked at it) that God is as proud of Natalee as I am. So if He trusted me to place her in my presence to care for her and nurture her, then when she was not in my presence, I must trust Him that He will care and provide for Natalee since I can not longer do that without her in my presence. So, I think that was just such a turning point in this journey and it was good.

11:00 AM = On 6-10 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

To your question as to why I reasonably quickly had an attorney, I can state the following. After we were heard as witnesses, Joran's father said that there would be chance that we were going to be arrested and that we had to prepare for that eventuality. To you question as to how we prepared ourselves, I can state the following. With preparing I just meant looking for an attorney. To your question whether I had spoken to my attorney prior to my arrest, I can state the following. Both families had a meeting with the attorneys. So my parents with me and my brother and Joran with his parents. To your question as to when that had taken place, I can state the following. That took place last Saturday. To your question as to where it took place, I can state the following. It took place in the offices of my attorney. To your question whether both families went to one office or to several offices, I can state the following. We all went to the same office at the same time. Our attorney asked us if the statement we had made as witnesses was the truth and said that we should stick to that story.

On June 13, 2005 Current Murder Suspect DEEPAK KALPOE gave the following statements to his ARUBAN Police Interrogators:

On Friday [June 3, 2005; my insertion] two weeks ago he had arainged a lawyer for us.

10:00 PM = according to “Blogs For Natalee” Identity “GrannyToad,” any ARUBA Police surveillance of a person(s) suspected of a crime(s) must cease at 10:00 PM.

On 6-4 the “AP” captioned an “AP” photo of ARUBAN Police commissioner GERALD DOMPIG surrounded by reporters “The Aruban Deputy Police chief Gerold Dompig speaks during a press briefing Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the "Holiday Inn," in Oranjestad, Aruba. Three men who said they dropped off an Alabama teenager at her hotel have emerged as "the most important lead" in the honor student's disappearance on this Dutch Caribbean island, Police said Saturday.”
A tip came in during the June 4th Press Conference at the Holiday Inn held by Beth. The tip was that a security guard found Natalee's driver's license at the Allegro [hotel]. The tip did not come into the ARUBAN law enforcement, but to a public official standing at the conference. People from the conference rushed to the Allegro to start searching arriving before the ARUBAN law enforcement could cordon off the area. In the meantime, another tip came in that Natalee was spotted sunbathing on Eagle Beach - which also turned out to be nothing. On September 26, 2005 DAVE HOLLOWAY stated to CNN, “Well, apparently he has lied a number of times and, you know, when you lie, it’s really hard to remember what you lied about, so it is apparent that, you know, he’s lying again.” “In fact, I understand he (Prime Murder Suspect JORAN VAN DER SLOOT) was in a bar the next weekend (circa 6-3, 6-4, or 6-5), right after, doing the same things, according to a private source that indicated so.”

On 6-4 “All Points Bulletin.org” issued the following ALL POINTS BULLETIN with REWARD for NATALEE (the reward has since climbed to $1,000,000)

On 6-4 a Police spokesman said three men - each legal Aruban residents between the ages of 18 and 25 - have emerged as “the most important lead.” The men claim they dropped NATALEE off at her hotel at about 2 a.m. Hotel employees, however, say security cameras did not record her return.
On 6-4 ARUBA government spokesman TRAPENBERG claimed that the Police have “recently interviewed and questioned three ‘young local men’” that admitted they were with NATALEE, then dropped NATALEE off at her hotel at about 2am on 30 May. (the 3 “young local men” were questioned, not detained for further questioning, and released the same day… the “recent” interview actually took place when the 3 boys were brought in for questioning 4 days prior to TRAPENBERG’s statement on 5-31; a little over only one day after NATALEE was last seen with the 3, Still-Murder Suspects)
On 6-4 ARUBA Prosecutor KARIN JANSSEN told the “AP,” “We need more technical assistance," declining to elaborate.
JEFF SESSIONS, an AMERICAN and UNITED STATES Senator from Alabama. Republican, went over the head of ARUBA's prosecutor the first week NATALEE was missing, speaking first with officials at the Embassy of the NETHERLANDS and then ARUBA's prime minister, to urge that the UNITED STATES F.B.I. be involved in investigating the disappearance of NATALEE. "We had nice conversations. They were positive about welcoming assistance," said Sessions on 6-6. Sessions said his office was contacted by a friend of the family of BETH HOLLOWAY Twitty last week after ARUBA prosecutors initially declined technical assistance from the UNITED STATES F.B.I.. Sessions said he spoke last week with the chief deputy at the embassy of NETHERLANDS and the minister responsible for ARUBA. Then Prime Minister Nelson ODUBER called Sessions Saturday to assure him ARUBA welcomed any assistance and that all he was trying to do was find HOLLOWAY.
On 6-4 FOX News reported:

Three Probed in Missing Teen Case
ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Police said Saturday that three men have become "the most important lead" in the case of the Alabama teenager who disappeared in Aruba — and vowed that "there will be developments" in the next few days.
Deputy Police chief Gerold Dompig said authorities were investigating the background and story of two Surinamese men and a native of the Netherlands who said they dropped off Natalee Holloway, 18, at the "Holiday Inn" before dawn Monday.
Dompig declined to call the men suspects, saying they were "persons of interest," but said the men were "the most important lead."
"We are working diligently," Dompig said. "I want everybody to hold their breaths for the next 24 hours. There will be developments after this weekend."
Police, Dutch troops and hundreds of volunteers scouring coastline and beaches for six days have found no trace of Holloway.
The focus of Saturday's search was on a closed hotel near the "Holiday Inn" where Holloway had been staying. Officials said they received a tip to search the Allegro Hotel, which is currently closed for renovations. The hotel's casino, however, is still open.
The three men who have emerged as persons of interest are legal Aruban residents between the ages of 18 and 25. They told Police they had taken Holloway to a beach at the northwestern tip of Aruba before dropping her off at the hotel, according to an official close to the probe.
But her uncle, Paul Reynolds, said he was told security cameras did not show Holloway returning to the hotel that night. Police declined to comment on that report.
Holloway was on a five-day excursion with 124 seniors and several chaperones from Mountain Brook high school, near Birmingham, Ala. She spent the last night of her vacation eating and dancing at Carlos 'N Charlie's bar and restaurant.
She didn't show up for her return flight, and Police found her passport in her hotel room with her packed bags.
"Natalee's bags were packed and she's ready to go home," her mother, Beth Holloway-Twitty, told a news conference. "Please help bring her home."
Holloway, a straight-A student, had earned a full scholarship at the University of Alabama and planned to study premed, Reynolds said. He described his niece as a levelheaded girl who would not have done anything rash.
Ten more F.B.I. agents joined the search Saturday for the girl, Attorney General Karin Janssen said. "We need more technical assistance," she said, declining to elaborate.
Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber said Holloway's disappearance has dismayed an island that prides itself on its safety and friendliness — a haven for the 500,000 American visitors last year.
"Learning the news of Natalee's disappearance on our island left us all in a state of shock and disbelief," Oduber said. "We will not tolerate any activities that harm our American friends or tarnishes Aruba's reputation."
A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Holloway's rescue, said Myrna Jansen, the director of Aruba's tourism office. The Aruban government and local tourism organizations were contributing $20,000, while family and benefactors in Alabama were offering the rest, she said.
Aruba's coast guard began searching surrounding waters, indicating authorities were considering the possibility Holloway was taken off the island with or without her consent. Police found her passport in her hotel.
Police receive tips every hour, but "none has proven to be the golden tip," Janssen said.
The search has not been extended to Venezuela, whose coastline is only 25 miles from Aruba at the nearest point, or the neighboring Dutch island of Curacao, van der Straten said.
Holloway earned a full scholarship to the University of Alabama, where she planned to study premed, said her uncle Paul Reynolds, who traveled from Houston to help in the search.
Reynolds said his niece was a responsible person who would not have run away.
"Natalee is very smart and focused," Reynolds said. "It never crossed my mind that she intentionally missed the flight. When she did, I knew something was terribly wrong."
Posters with a photograph of Holloway have been put up throughout island, with a caption reading: "Kidnapped since 1:30 a.m. May 30."
On an island remarkable for its friendliness, pristine beaches and an absence of violent crime, Holloway's disappearance has shocked islanders, many of whom say they are optimistic she will be found alive.
"She's not on the island," said Jany Winterdal, a 51-year-old taxi driver. "In Aruba, we don't know what doing bad things to people is. For me, she's alive."
There have been two murders and three rapes on the island of 72,000 people this year, compared with one murder and six rapes last year, none involving foreigners, Police said.
Aruba has an average of 13,000 tourists a day at this time of the year, the Tourism Authority said.

On 6-4 the “NBC” TV channel 9 reported:

Still No Trace Of Teen Missing In Aruba
Three Men Called 'Persons Of Interest'
ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- As the search continues in Aruba for an Alabama high school student, Police are investigating the stories of three men who say they dropped her off at her hotel.
An official close to the investigation said the men told Police they had taken the teen to a beach, then to her hotel. But the girl's uncle The girl's security cameras do not show Holloway returning to the Holiday Inn.
A deputy Police chief on the Dutch Caribbean island called the men their "most important lead" and described them as "persons of interest."
Police, Dutch troops and hundreds of volunteers have been searching for Holloway for six consecutive days. The 18-year-old vanished early Monday, on the last day of a high school graduation trip.
Ten more FBI agents joined the search on Saturday. Aruban officials and the girl's family members are offering rewards totaling $50,000.
Her mother said she's "not leaving Aruba without Natalee."
Holloway's relatives described the teenager as careful and dependable. That is why friends knew something was wrong the instant she failed to show up for the flight home to Alabama, said her aunt, Marcia Twitty.
Dozens of Holloway's friends and classmates attended an afternoon prayer vigil Saturday in Mountain Brook, Holloway's hometown. Stores are selling out of yellow ribbon as residents put bows on trees, mailboxes and doors.
Holloway was known as a top student and tireless worker at Mountain Brook high school, where she graduated last month before leaving for Aruba with 124 other seniors.
She was in the National Honor Society, studied Spanish and was a member of American Field Service, which works with foreign exchange students. Her participation may have been a reflection of her travels, which Twitty said included trips to Europe, Canada and some cruises.

On 6-4 CNN reported, “Aruba Police have three theories concerning a missing high school student from Alabama, Aruba’s deputy Police chief said Saturday, six days after the student disappeared on a senior trip to the island. The first theory is that “people of interest” — the three men 18-year-old Holloway was last seen with early Monday morning — may have harmed her. In a joint news conference with the missing student’s mother, deputy Police chief Gerald Dompig said the second theory is that Holloway may have chosen to disappear “on her own accord” and that still a third theory is Holloway may have been kidnapped.” “Witnesses said she left in a car with three local young men between the ages of 18 and 25 at about 1:30 a.m. Friends have said they have pictures of her dancing with young men at the club.”
On 6-4 FOX News reported that the “Allegro Hotel” (currently under reconstruction) is being searched room by room.
On 6-4 the “UPI” reported:

U.S. teenager remains missing in ArubaBIRMINGHAM, AL, Jun. 4 (UPI) The search for a missing 18-year-old Mount Brook, Ala., girl missing in Aruba has turned into a suspected kidnapping case. The teenager was in Aruba on a trip that was not sponsored by her high school, but which has been taken by more than 100 students and their chaperones for three years. Her friends saw Natalie get into a vehicle outside a nightclub early Monday, the last morning of a senior trip to the Caribbean island nation. An unidentified man accompanying her was subsequently taken into FBI custody, but no other information had been released by Saturday.

On 6-4 ARUBAAN’s news-source “Bon Dia” reported:

Police officers in a helicopter and in all terrain vehicles combed the area behind the lighthouse from Arashi to Westpunt in search for Natalee Holloway, the teenage girl from Alabama that disappeared in a mysterious way while vacationing in Aruba. Many local residents and tourists lend a helping hand yesterday and together with police, Search & Rescue, and a large group of Dutch Marines in search of the 18 year old student. In the meantime Natalee’s family made an appeal to the community of the local radio to report any sight of their daughter to the police. The family also offered a US$10,000 reward to anyone that can give information the leads to finding Natalee. Although the police advised the family not to offer a reward and not to use the word “kidnapping”, a flyer was distributed yesterday stating the Natalee was kidnapped and offering the above mentioned reward.
Authorities decided to comb the above mentioned area after interrogating the three young men that were last seen with Natalee. The three young men declared that the took Natalee to that area, had sex with her, and then dropped her at the Holiday Inn Resort. The security cameras of the resort however do not show her entering the hotel at any time that evening.
As a result of this the three witnesses who saw her last now become suspects.
We have no information if the trio in the meantime has been arrested. Until late yesterday police did not mention any arrest taking place. In the meantime all calls and tips are being followed up by the police and the search goes on.
